Om Rupani is back for his second round on Heart of Man...And today, I'm very excited to address this exact topic with him through his background in BDSM, which I see is very prevalent in the lives of many men:Nice Guy Syndrome. When I completed his seven day BDSM Fundamentals training last year, it was a transformative experience for me, and one of the first things I recognised was how powerful it was to resolve any remaining remnants of myself still navigating the Nice Guy Mask.On the podcast, we've had Dr. Robert Glover, who wrote the book "No More Mr. Nice Guy," on the show twice. But today, we'll have the opportunity to look at this through the lens of someone who supports individuals every day to become better leaders through the medium of BDSM, which I see offers him a unique perspective. For those who need a refresher:Om Rupani is a teacher, author, and speaker who's been teaching about BDSM, polarity, and man–woman relating for almost 2 decades. He's also the author of Prerequisites to Ecstasy, a no-nonsense guide exploring what it truly takes to create the love and intimacy we say we want.Today, his work focuses on helping men embody their masculinity with confidence and depth, supporting women in cultivating passionate, harmonious relationships with their men, and guiding singles and couples to consciously integrate elements of BDSM into their intimacy. In this conversation, Om and I explore:What the Nice Guy persona is, and why it functions as a mask to control how others see youHow it forms through the mother wound and the absence of strong fathersWhy physical training alone misses the point, and what actually dissolves this patternThe distinction between domineering and dominant, and what genuine leadership requiresWhy BDSM is the clearest way Om knows to teach containmentThe three categories of dominance and submissionWhy a woman will only surrender to a man whose leadership genuinely improves her lifeLearning to be at peace with who you are, and letting people see youI thoroughly enjoyed this conversation with Om and this work touchrs directly on what so many men don't recognize they're carrying:the identity they feel required to uphold in order to be seen as worthy, feel safe, and get their needs met. Please note this conversation might be triggering to some of you, as this work was initially with me. Whether you agree or not, my encouragement is to stay open and notice what arises within you.Over time, that very approach has supported me in discovering deeper truth about what I value, what I care about, and who I am.This episode is for anyone who's spent years performing goodness while quietly suppressing who they actually are, and who is ready to stop letting the fear of disapproval run their life.—Connect with Alex Lehmann:
Recover Your Soul: A Spiritual Path to a Happy and Healthy Life
Have you ever noticed that even when things are going well, there can still be a part of you looking for what's missing, what's not working, or what needs to change before you can finally feel at peace? In this episode of Recover Your Soul, I share a teaching from Pema Chödrön's book How We Live Is How We Die that has stayed with me for weeks: the propensity for discontent. The phrase struck me because I could see how often many of us move through life carrying an unconscious habit of looking for what's wrong. We think that if we could just fix the relationship, heal the wound, change the circumstance, or get to the next goal, then we would finally be okay. But what if peace isn't waiting on the other side of everything changing? What if the invitation is to become aware of the lens through which we're already seeing our lives? In this conversation, I explore the Buddhist teaching of the kleshas: attachment, resistance, and delusion. These are the habitual ways we become disconnected from our peace and our true nature. As I share in the Recover Your Soul process, these patterns often show up as our unconscious beliefs, stories, fears, judgments, and attempts to control life around us.Together we'll look at how attachment keeps us grasping for things to be different, how resistance keeps us fighting reality, and how delusion can keep us trapped in old stories and misunderstandings that prevent us from seeing ourselves and our lives clearly. This isn't about pretending everything is fine or pushing away difficult feelings. It's about learning to be present with what is, while bringing more awareness, compassion, and curiosity to the patterns that create suffering. The beautiful gift of this work is that the very places where we get stuck can become doorways to wisdom, healing, and awakening. In This Episode:What Pema Chödrön means by "the propensity for discontent"How the habit of looking for what's wrong affects our happinessUnderstanding the three kleshas: attachment, resistance, and delusionThe connection between Buddhist wisdom and the Recover Your Soul processHow our patterns, beliefs, and stories shape our experience of lifeLearning to witness difficult emotions without judging ourselvesWhy awareness is the first step toward healing and transformationHow to find greater peace in the present moment, even when life isn't perfectMy hope is that this episode helps you become a little more aware of the ways you may be searching for what's missing and instead begin noticing what is already here. We are all learning together how to release old patterns, soften our judgments, and reconnect with the wholeness that has always existed within us.As always, thank you for being part of the Recover Your Soul Community. It is an honor to walk this healing and awakening journey with you.Send a one way text to Rev Rachel

In today's episode, Anne Marton joins us for an honest conversation about the mental side of fitness, fat loss, and aging as women. Homesteading and education aren't just about what you know or how much you can produce. They're about the mindset, skills, and real-life experiences that shape how you live, work, and contribute to the world around you. And the truth is, more families than ever are questioning traditional education… but many aren't sure what to replace it with or how to confidently teach their kids real-world skills. In this episode of The Homestead Education Podcast, Kody Hanner sits down with Daniel Salatin of Polyface Farm to have an honest, practical conversation about learning outside the classroom, building a life through agriculture, and raising kids who are capable, confident, and ready for real life. From growing up on one of the most well-known regenerative farms to struggling in traditional academics, Daniel shares how hands-on learning, problem-solving, and purpose-driven work shaped his life and why those same principles matter now more than ever. Together, they talk about what education actually needs to look like, how kids learn best, and why real-life responsibility may be the missing piece for so many families today. This isn't just a conversation about farming or homeschooling. It's about raising a generation that knows how to think, work, and contribute. I've always been someone who's comfortable alone. Traveling solo, going out by myself, not really needing anyone around. I was proud of being independent, self-sufficient, and a low-maintenance friend. In this video we go into the different faces of loneliness, what hyper-independence or being a low-maintenance friend is costing us, and why we can feel alone even in our closest relationships, along with what it looks like to have a rich inner life while still letting connection in and flourish.
In this episode, Matty sits down with Rob Herbert from R&N Blades for a conversation that goes well beyond knives. Rob shares his background growing up on a farm where hunting and using tools was simply part of everyday life — from trapping rabbits to learning how to keep a knife sharp from his grandfather. That early exposure eventually led him into knife making, but also into careers in the military, Victoria Police, and later the Game Management Authority. As the conversation unfolds, Rob opens up about the impact of trauma from his time in policing, and how making knives, along with time spent hunting, became a way to manage that mental load. There's a strong theme throughout the episode around hunting as more than just a pursuit… For many people it becomes a form of reset, a place to think clearly, and a way to reconnect with something real. The discussion also moves into the current state of hunting in Australia, including challenges around legislation, representation, and the need for a more unified voice across the broader outdoor community. Rob shares a grounded perspective on how hunters are perceived, the importance of presenting the right image, and why education matters more than emotion when it comes to protecting the future of hunting. There's also plenty of practical insight from Rob's own hunting journey, from traditional bows through to compound and rifle, and how changing tools can expose weaknesses and ultimately make you a better hunter. This is a wide-ranging, honest conversation about hunting, mental health, community, and the role it all plays in people's lives.

Drawing from his new book One Minute Wisdom, he explores how life's most transformative insights often strike in seconds—not through theory, but through lived experience. From near-death moments to simple acts of integrity, Prof. Chatterjee shares powerful real-life stories that embody Karma Yoga and spiritual presence. He explains why Indian philosophy is not intellectual speculation, but a lived, embodied truth that emerges when our mental models collapse. This episode invites you to reflect on those flashes of insight when life demands more than thought—it demands awakening.“It took a lifetime to write, a minute to express, and another lifetime to practice.Key Takeaways:Wisdom can be lived in a second, not just shared in a minute.Reality often challenges our mental models, leading to wisdom.Reflection is crucial for effective leadership and personal growth. Our past experiences shape our present identity and decisions.Mind management involves reducing distractions and increasing awareness.Inadequacy drives many to seek achievement, but acceptance is key.Indian philosophy emphasizes transformation over mere speculation.Writing should stem from personal experience and authenticity.Moments of clarity can lead to profound realizations.Stillness is inherent to our nature, often disturbed by external chaos.Chapters:00:00 Highlights01:01 Introduction 02:06 The Essence of Wisdom in a Minute06:01 Puppets of the Past: Unraveling Identity10:03 Mind Management: Clarity Over Control13:54 The Power of Stillness in Leadership19:17 Understanding Chaos and Order22:30 The Importance of Reflection in Leadership25:40 Inadequacy: The Universal Human Experience30:49 The Transformative Nature of Indian Philosophy36:36 Bridging Eastern Wisdom with Western Leadership40:48 The Evolution of Writing and Simplicity45:10 The Essence of Leadership and Learning from Moments50:50 Lessons in Humility from CatsConnect with UsMohua Chinappa: https://www.linkedin.com/in/mohua-chinappa/The Mohua Show: https://www.themohuashow.com/Connect with the GuestProf. Debashis Chatterjee: https://www.linkedin.com/in/debashischatterjee1/Follow UsYouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@TheMohuaShowLinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/company/themohuashow/Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/themohuashowInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/themohuashow/For any other queries EMAILhello@themohuashow.comDisclaimerThe views expressed by our guests are their own. Much of modern work is defined by routine, efficiency targets, and the need to appear productive. But how much of it is actually necessary? Dennis Nørmark, Danish anthropologist, author, and speaker, argues that a significant part of today's work culture is built on pseudo-work—tasks that maintain appearances rather than create real value. As the co-author of Pseudo-Work: How We Ended Up Being Busy Doing Nothing, he examines why unnecessary work persists and how it shapes our perception of productivity. In I Wish My Boss Was a Chief, he applies leadership lessons from indigenous cultures to modern management, questioning whether our current systems are as effective as we assume. This conversation explores how unfreedom has become a feature of work and society, limiting personal agency and reinforcing structures of control. Predictions from a century ago suggested that technological progress would reduce working hours, yet most people today work as much as ever. Why has this happened? How do schools, workplaces, and governments encourage dependence rather than autonomy? And what can be done to reclaim control over our time and choices?Key TopicsWhat pseudo-work is and why it persistsHow bureaucracy and control shape modern work cultureThe shift from work as necessity to work as identityWhy predictions of reduced working hours never materializedHow education reinforces compliance rather than independenceRethinking work, freedom, and personal agencyDennis Nørmark challenges assumptions about work and productivity, raising questions about what it means to contribute meaningfully in a system that values busyness over results.
