The Simpsons character
POPULARITY
Why does “Bart Gets Hit by a Car” (S2E10) show the episode title on screen at the beginning, unlike nearly every other episode of The Simpsons? We think we found an answer in The Fortune Cookie (1966), the very first pairing of longtime comedy duo Jack Lemmon and Walter Matthau. They're the original odd couple! This forgotten movie provided the plot for this early episode of The Simpsons, and possibly much more. Also in this episode:• A classic example of “homage, French for theft”• How this movie may have inspired the origins of Lionel Hutz and Dr. Nick Riviera• When does Walter Matthau sound most like season 1 Homer in this movie?• Adam and Nate unwisely try to rewrite Billy Wilder and I.A.L. This week on the Value Perspective, we're joined by a lovely but anonymous guest, who, for legal reasons, we're going to call Lionel Hutz. Lionel is the author of the Substack Valorem Research, where he provides research for investors on uncorrelated legal special situations, covering issues such as merger arbitrage, patent litigation and international arbitration. By day, he is a legal expert who specialises in special situations. In this episode, we discuss: what legal special situations are and how you screen for these types of investment ideas; how to access legal special situations without a deep understanding of the US legal system; what legal situations tend to be most complex; accounting for the variable of time when looking at this type of investing; and finally, the game theory aspect involved in special situations investments. Enjoy! NEW EPISODES: We release main series episodes every two weeks on Mondays. We're covering an allegedly prophetic ep of Simpsons, and for that, we're joined once more by Stephen Sajdak, cohost of the We Hate Movies podcast! After the Osaka Flu ravages Springfield, Marge is arrested for shoplifting, and we discuss how much it might mirror the 2020 lockdown. Then we dig into the best Lionel Hutz sequence in the entire series, followed by trying to figure out all the changes in the weird third act. You won't be saying "malaise forever" after this podcast! Marge takes a job with Lionel Hutz's Red Blazer Realty, an estate agency, but begins to question her morals when she has to sell properties to her friends that aren't quite up to scratch. Despite this, she still manages to convince the Flanders to move to the quaintly named Murder House. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thesimpsonsguy/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/thesimpsonsguy/support
'The only rules are there are no rules' apparently doesn't fly in Judge Kaplan's courtroom. ____________________________________ We don't even talk about Alina Habba's weird swimsuit thing on the show because it broke after we wrapped recording (next week, I guess!), but we have more than enough material discussing Trump's lawyer bumble through basic courtroom procedure and lodge motions for bad court thingies in the proud tradition of the Simpsons' greatest character. We also discuss a racial discrimination lawsuit against Troutman Pepper and whether "the partner is always a jerk" is a defense. And it looks like the federal courts have opened an investigation into Clarence Thomas... which will probably go nowhere.

On this week's episode, Marge joins Red Blazer Realty after being recruited by Lionel Hutz, and Homer buys Snake's hotrod (Lil' Bandit) at the Police seized property auction. This was a bittersweet episode for us because, while it was hilarious, it was also Lionel Hutz last actual appearance on the show as Phil Hartman sadly passed away shortly after this episode aired. But alas, we loved the episode and hope you all enjoy this episode. Cheers!

--------- Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/crimeandcomedy Tutti i Podcast: https://link.chtbl.com/CrimeandComedy Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/crimeandcomedy.podcast/ Telegram: https://t.me/crimeandcomedy Sito: https://www.crimeandcomedy.it Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/crimeandcomedy/ Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/c/CrimeComedy Instagram: Clara Campi: https://www.instagram.com/claracampicomedy/ Marco Champier: https://www.instagram.com/mrchreddy/ Caricature - Giorgio Brambilla: https://www.instagram.com/giorgio_brambilla_bookscomedy/ Learn more about your ad choices. Accomplished attorney and longtime Jonah associate Shannen Coffin joins The Remnant for a deep dive into the constitutionality of Biden's vaccine mandate and the dysfunctional state of our federal government. Together, they explore the role each branch of government should play in enforcing such a mandate, Biden's failure to diminish the COVID culture war, and whether the conservative legal movement could fall victim to the ideology of owning the libs. Obligatory references to Robert Bork are also included. To paraphrase Lionel Hutz, can you imagine a podcast without lawyers? On this installment of Food Court with Richard Blais Caroline and Cristen, hosts of Unladylike Podcast, are here to say that when you have to choose between soup and salad, there is only one true choice. April 29, 2021 | The Hockey Betting Podcast And Yancey's Fancy wins "by a nose" ahead of this weekend's Kentucky Derby (place) and the NFL Draft (show) on the April 29, 2021 episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast. Brian Blessing and Cam Stewart are chomping at the bit to get started on the NHL betting board, but are their eyes bigger than their stomachs with so many betting opportunities on the plate? Cam hears the dogs are howling, and he's ready to eat the moon if it's made out of blue cheese to plus money. Listen to this episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast for all of Brian and Cam's NHL betting insights, NHL picks predictions, and gambling comic relief. Thursday, April 29, 2021 NHL Betting Lines, Analysis, Picks New York Islanders at New York Rangers NHL bettors clearly prefer the New York Rangers (-120) on Thursday, but do not foresee much offence in the Big Apple, with the O/U total steady at (5.5). Cam already feels good about this game. Everything is on the line for the Islanders. Hear how the guys are looking at the betting angles for this NHL match-up on this episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast. Philadelphia Flyers at New Jersey Devils Philly netminder Brian Elliott gave up a disgusting five goals on 26 shots on Tuesday. With the Flyers (-130) knocked out of the NHL playoff race, will the club's season end with more embarrassing outcomes? Head the guys discuss their takes on this NHL game on this episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast. Detroit Red Wings at Carolina Hurricanes With the cellar of the Central Division meeting a Stanley Cup contender, the odds on a straight-up Carolina Hurricanes win are at a stopwatch-short (-400). Will Cam and Brian consider Detroit's (+310) money line or plus-odds puck line on principle alone, or are the Red Wings all out of upsets for 2021? Brian invokes the Sasquatch foot is due. Hear the guys hash out their predictions on this NHL game on this episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast. Pittsburgh Penguins at Washington Capitals The Pittsburgh Penguins slipped against Boston this week, and while the Washington Capitals can be proud of shutting out the New York Islanders and "choking them out like a python" twice in three games, lots of East Division teams have been taming the Isles' forward lines. With each team clearly holding back prior to the Stanley Cup playoffs, the cautious O/U total (5.5) stands out amid nearly-even odds to win. Listen to this episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast for all of Brian and Cam's handicapping insights, picks predictions, and betting humour. Buffalo Sabres at Boston Bruins The Boston Bruins earn the second (-400) money line of Thursday night, hosting a Buffalo Sabres club that fears a potential fire-sale in the offseason. With such a heavy favorite in the game, the guys discuss parlay opportunities for taking a flyer. Hear the guys discuss this NHL match-up on this episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast. Florida Panthers at Chicago Blackhawks Late-blooming winger Jonathan Huberdeau scored five points in the Florida Panthers' bounce-back 7-4 win over Nashville this week. The flourish of offence from the Panthers has helped cause Florida's line to shrink to (-155) against the host Chicago Blackhawks. Cam admits that he's no team psychologist, but are the Blackhawks fully deflated? Hear the conversation on this episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast. Calgary Flames at Edmonton Oilers Another goal total shrinks to (6) for a North Division faceoff, as oddsmakers trust Edmonton (-141) to handle the visiting Calgary Flames. Listen to this episode of the Hockey Betting Podcast for the details. Dallas Stars at Tampa Bay Lightning The Tampa Bay Lightning are no longer drawing Stanley Cup futures bets at 6/1 odds, but are still cast as a solid (-170) favourite over the Dallas Stars, who finally have a playoff bid in sight after making strides over the last few weeks. Hear the guys cover the betting angles on this NHL match-up on this episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast. Vancouver Canucks at Toronto Maples Leafs It appears that oddsmakers have submitted their verdict that the Vancouver Canucks are just about finished winning games on the road in 2020-21. Toronto is a (-115) bet on the puck line (-1.5) to defeat visiting Vancouver by two goals or more. Listen to this episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast and hear "Canadian" attorney Lionel Hutz argue an interesting case. St. Louis Blues at Minnesota Wild An irresistible force meets an immovable object as the St. Louis Blues (+120) have begun to sing against the cream of the West Division, but the Minnesota Wild remain an extremely tough out on home ice. Hear what the guys are taking into consideration on this NHL game on this episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast. Friday, April 30, 2021 NHL Betting Lines, Analysis, Picks Winnipeg Jets at Montreal Canadiens Winnipeg has lost five in a row, calling into question how worried the Jets are about jockeying for North Division position with the Calgary Flames 12 points behind. Montreal is only six points clear of the dreaded fifth spot and is favoured at (-127) odds as the more desperate club on Friday. Hear the guys hash out the betting strategies on this NHL match-up on this episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast. San Jose Sharks at Colorado Avalanche The Colorado Avalanche are a thin-odds money line favourite over "S.J. Sharky," but nowhere nearly as exaggerated as the Canes and Bruins' 1-to-4 Thursday lines at just (-250). Listen to this episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast for the guys' discussion on this NHL match-up on this episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast. Los Angeles Kings at Anaheim Ducks L.A. Kings and "Stanley Cup playoffs" won't cling in conjunction this spring, but the Kings remain a hollow (-126) favourite over the last-place Anaheim Ducks. Don't over-think it, but these teams are already practicing with new sets of Callaway golf clubs in preparation for the summer. Hear the guys' attempt to keep it simple on this NHL game on this episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast. Vegas Golden Knights at Arizona Coyotes Arizona is chasing St. Louis in the West Division with three other teams out-of-reach. A playoff-urgency angle for the Coyotes could cast the Friday hots' puck line solidly in minus-payoff range, but Las Vegas is skeptical of its hometown boys losing straight-up, offering (-195) odds on the division leaders. The reoccurring theme this season is right when you think a team is done, they come back. Listen to this episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast for all of Brian and Cam's NHL betting insights, situational handicapping, and free NHL picks. Saturday, May 1, 2021 NHL Betting Lines, Analysis, Picks Brian and Cam take a look ahead at this weekend's NHL schedule and see a number of betting opportunities including those pending outcomes on Thursday and Friday. Ottawa and Montreal meet for a marquee match-up on Hockey Night in Canada. Momentum and disinterest come into play as the guys consider the slate of games this weekend. Listen to this episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast for all of Brian and Cam's picks predictions, hockey betting tips, and gambling humour. Buffalo Sabres at Boston Bruins Tampa Bay Lightning at Detroit Red Wings New York Rangers at New York Islanders New Jersey Devils at Philadelphia Flyers Pittsburgh Penguins at Washington Capitals Columbus Blue Jackets at Carolina Hurricanes Ottawa Senators at Montreal Canadiens Vancouver Canucks at Toronto Maples Leafs San Jose Sharks at Colorado Avalanche St. Louis Blues at Minnesota Wild Florida Panthers at Chicago Blackhawks Dallas Stars at Nashville Predators Vegas Golden Knights at Arizona Coyotes Los Angeles Kings at Anaheim Ducks Calgary Flames at Edmonton Oilers Sunday, May 2, 2021 NHL Betting Lines, Analysis, Picks Tampa Bay Lightning at Detroit Red Wings Listen to this episode of The Hockey Betting Podcast for all of Brian and Cam's hockey betting strategies, NHL picks predictions, and a few laughs along the way.
Quick impeachment update. Five of Trump's attorneys have just resigned because they wouldn't agree to Trump's trial strategy of claiming the election was stolen. Poor Trump. Looks like the only options left are Saul Goodman and Lionel Hutz. In obese Florida senior citizen news, Donald Trump is getting trolled by plane banners in the sky that say things like "You Pathetic Loser", "Worst President Ever", and "Go Back to Moscow". It was the most painful thing he'd ever seen in the sky besides every time he looked directly into a solar eclipse. He immediately called Don Jr and said "Find out how I can get on sky Twitter". I guess elections really do have consequences, because reports say Mike Pence is "homeless" and currently couch-surfing between his Indiana politician friends' places. It's especially awkward because several of them have been eyeing "Mother" since his city council days. But the silver lining is that Pence has accidentally stumbled onto a solution for homelessness-- all politician's homes in Indiana can now be used as transient shelters. Problem solved! President Biden is resuming efforts to put 19th century abolitionist leader Harriet Tubman on the $20 bill. Biden said "Harriet Tubman has always had a special place in my heart due to my love of railroads. That's what she's known for, right? Underground choo-choo trains?" Finally, with Republican Congresswomen Lauren Boebert and Marjorie Taylor Greene carrying weapons in the Capitol and encouraging violence, Nancy Pelosi has had enough, saying "The enemy is within the house". I think I've seen this movie. Luckily, if Nancy keeps her wits about her and avoids fooling around with her boyfriend, she'll survive until the end-- and possibly be in the sequel.

In Episode 4 of Business Breakthrough Thursdays, host Dave Fionda speaks with brand strategy consultant Doug Fox about the top five branding and messaging mistakes marketers make. If you worry about how to balance sales and goodwill during COVID-19, this is the podcast episode for you.Learn:When message maps don't workHow to close the "brand gap" between where you want to be perceived and where your consumers actually see youWhy pain points are the key to activating brand loyalty and advocacyHow to solve the conflict between allocating budget for marketing your product with the need to raise awareness and goodwill, especially in COVID-19 timesWhat the biggest mistakes that brand managers and communicators are making today areWhen competitors are hiding in plain sightThe five big messaging mistakes, in a nutshell:Trying to be all things to all people. Don't become a Lionel Hutz — a "jack of all trades." A single, well constructed, sharp message will beat out a comprehensive message playbook every time. Connect with your "thin deep wedge," and then convert.Skipping the differentiator entirely. Don't forget to include the language of differentiation in your core message (examples are "first/best/only" or "better/faster/cheaper"). But if your differentiator is "too good to be true," you may have to lead with a relevance message, follow up with a credibility message, then hit them with the differentiators.Talking like an industry insider. Don't assume that your buyer speaks "jargon" and risk talking over people's heads. The best acronym is NAA — "not another acronym."Ignoring emotion. Logic may drive you toward a decision, but it's emotion that closes the deal (and logic again that rationalizes your choice after the fact). Science shows that we can't make decisions without our emotions. Ignoring the "why." You know how your product works, inside and out. You know what the features are. Don't lead with those. Lead with the why, then explain the how and what. The "why" is inherently emotional. It's the "benefits" message.Doug is a proven brand and marketing strategist with 20+ years experience successfully building and repositioning global brands and businesses. He has a proven reputation of helping his clients be more ‘Foxy‘, strengthening their brands and generating more demand for their products, services and solutions. WOW!!! We have an amazing episode for you this week, first up, thank you to our 1000 weekly listeners, you are amazing. At last, winter is here, and Professor and Buck are both totally enjoying it. DJ has brought us the controversy of the week, with wild claims of a new Indiana Jones, and the boys pile in on him. Once again we solve the world’s greatest issues with logic and careful consideration. We decide Chris Pratt is not suitable for taking on the role and also convince DJ that Indiana Jones is not a Marvel character yet; give Disney time and they will make it happen eventually I’m sure. With a fabulous Segway into the next topic we look at Digit. Not the figures, the robot that will help deliver your shopping from the car to your door. Professor decides he wants one to carry the shopping from the door to the kitchen and then cook his food. DJ calls robots slaves, revealing his desire to take over the world. Buck and Professor decide that given the way technology has been moving they wish to become Cyborgs and serve the robot overlords. We align the killer drones, self-replicating robots, driverless cars and robot dogs.Moving along before we get into too much trouble. We have a new CPU that is pushing the limits and is looks surprised at how amazing it is. AMD is back baby and challenging Intel once again. Buck and Professor fully geek out over what this means for building your own system. If you get confused and lost please let us know; we will get Professor to write up a translation for you. We also figure out how to turn your computer into an oven. We mean literally you will be able to cook your sausages and toast your marsh mellows. As always we make fun of everything, have a laugh with each other, at each other and life in general. We have the usual shout outs, remembrances, birthdays, and events of interest. As always, take care of yourselves, look out for each other, and stay hydrated. Jacques and Joe remember the late, great Phil Hartman. It’s been 20 years since we lost this incredible actor, writer, SNL veteran, NewsRadio cast member, and iconic voice of classic Simpsons characters Troy McClure and Lionel Hutz. But at least we have Joe’s lukewarm, not-quite-right impressions of him to stomach for 30 minutes. And, of course, the memories. We miss you, Phil!
No one really asked for it, but you got it now. There's nothing you can do about it. It's here, the Definitive Mickstape Top 10 Treehouse Of Horror Lists Spectacular. It's kinda like a Top 15ish, since neither of us have the same lists, but you get the point. These aren't the Top 10 Treehouse of Horror episodes. That would be sophomoric. These are the Top 10 segments within the episodes because we're a galaxy brain type of podcast. After the lists are given and the debates are hashed out, the show quickly devolves into talking about random characters throughout the years and Top 5 lists of ancillary Springfield citizens are hastily constructed. Finally, did aliens attack the Thunder's team plane? Early reports say... yes. Very obviously yes.
