Will and Karen sit down with licensed hypnotherapist Cat Cazimi, co-host of Hippie Chicks Live, for a deep dive into what hypnosis really is, and whether it can fast-track you to spiritual awakening. Cat breaks down the biggest myth about hypnosis: the idea that it's a sleep-like state where you lose control. In reality, she explains, hypnosis is a hyper-focused state of receptivity, not unconsciousness, and you can never be made to do or say anything you don't want to. She walks through the difference between a light trance (think scrolling your phone or watching a movie) and the deeper theta state used in therapeutic work, and shares how she works with the most resistant clients, from analytical "monkey minds" who overthink their way out of relaxing, to people who drift too far into sleep. Karen and Will also revisit their own hypnosis sessions with Cat, including a moment that helped Karen finally get consistent sleep, and a lighter memory involving an impromptu "world-class pianist" suggestion. The conversation turns philosophical when Will asks Cat directly: is hypnotherapy a shortcut to enlightenment? Her answer redraws the line entirely, arguing that hypnotherapy ends and self-enlightenment begins the moment you're finally willing to meet yourself. Also in this episode: a listener voicemail from Toronto on the healing power of screaming into the void (walk-in freezers and airport parking lots included), a five-star review from a listener in Portugal, and a live audience Q&A covering who can and can't be hypnotized. If our minds are the product of a blind and aimless process, what reason do we have to believe what we think? But if we can be rational because a rational intelligence designed life and the universe, how does that change how we should think about thinking? On this ID The Future, host Andrew McDiarmid concludes his conversation with science teacher and writer Rebekah Valerius about an essay she recently wrote unpacking the argument from reason and its implications for Darwinism, materialism, and atheism. In Part 2, Valerius shows why a Darwinian process cannot be responsible for our powers of reason. She also offers the argument from reason as a lens to better understand modern technology like artificial intelligence. This is Part 2 of a two-part conversation. Source

Together, they dive into the fascinating intersection of faith and neuroscience, exploring how God has custom-designed the human brain to physically rewire itself as we grow from spiritual infancy into fatherhood. Through the lens of Philippians 2, Dr. Coker unpacks the counter-cultural beauty of adopting a "Christ-shaped mindset"—one rooted in supernatural humility and sacrificial submission—challenging listeners to move past mere information consumerism and embrace full internal transformation.

What kind of man gets studied at Yale, Brown, and Harvard, builds a 300 person international research consortium, and still has powerful people working to erase his name? Dr. Daniel Ingram is not a guru. He is a retired level one trauma emergency physician. A published neuroscience researcher. The author of a book that has shaped contemplative practice for tens of thousands of readers. The acting organizer of a global research effort spanning Harvard, Yale, Brown, Cambridge, and Oxford. By every credential medicine respects, he is one of their own.So why did a senior figure allegedly commission an academic article engineered to surface at the top of every search of his name, with one stated goal? That nobody would ever believe him again. Because Dr. Ingram crossed a line his profession does not permit. He claimed that awakening is real. That it is measurable. That it is observable in the brain. We go into what he has seen at the edges of human perception. What he documented in the lab. What he believes medicine is doing to patients every single day by refusing to look. The Emergent Phenomenology Research Consortium

Is it possible to move beyond the limits we believe define reality—even to the point of “walking through walls”? In this fascinating and thought-provoking episode, Philip Smith explores Walking Through Walls, a concept that challenges our understanding of physical boundaries, perception, and human potential. Drawing from philosophical ideas, consciousness studies, and extraordinary claims, Philip discusses how the limitations we accept may be more flexible than we think. He examines the relationship between mind and matter, and how shifts in awareness and belief could influence what we perceive as possible. This episode invites listeners to question the nature of reality itself. Are the boundaries of the physical world fixed—or are they shaped by perception and understanding? What role does consciousness play in interacting with the environment? And how far can human potential extend when we begin to challenge accepted limits? Join us for an intriguing and expansive conversation that pushes the boundaries of possibility—where curiosity meets imagination, and where the idea of “walking through walls” becomes a doorway into exploring the unknown.Become a supporter of this podcast: https://www.spreaker.com/podcast/the-x-zone-radio-tv-show--1078348/support.Please note that all XZBN radio and/or television shows are Copyright © REL-MAR McConnell Meda Company, Niagara, Ontario, Canada – www.rel-mar.com. Brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) have been allowing humans to control objects with their minds for nearly half a century. But in recent years, thanks partly to advances in AI, the technology has evolved dramatically; wearable and implantable devices are now being used to restore speech and movement to stroke survivors, alleviate depression and treat pain. While companies like Elon Musk's Neuralink grab headlines, a somewhat quieter revolution is happening in Canada, where researchers are using BCI to help a historically underserved population: disabled children. In this episode, we explore BCI's potential to transform medicine, the knotty ethical questions at its core and how the tech might just bring us closer together. Featured in this episode: Dr. Adam Kirton is a professor of pediatrics, radiology and clinical neurosciences at the University of Calgary, where he's also the director of the BCI4Kids program. He is also the director of the Calgary Pediatric Stroke Program and is a practicing pediatric neurologist at the Alberta Children's Hospital. He co-founded, and is the CMO, of Possibility Neurotechnologies Anne Vanhoestenberghe is a professor of active implantable medical devices at King's College London and director of MAISi, a facility for the manufacture of active implants and surgical instruments, housed at St. Thomas' Hospital in London, England. Dion Kelly is a clinical neuroscientist and the co-founder and CEO of Possibility Technologies. Dion and Adam launched the company in 2022 to commercialize their brain-controlled technology, which transforms thoughts into actions. Stephanie Sonnenberg and her daughter, Claire, live outside of Calgary, Alberta. Claire was one of the first users of Possibility Technologies' BCI device, Think2Switch. You've been blowing out birthday candles and tossing coins into fountains your whole life. Turns out, you weren't just being superstitious. You were running an experiment in quantum physics, neuroscience, anthropology, and behavioral science simultaneously, and you had absolutely no idea.About This Episode Brownell Landrum calls herself an "Explorer of Metaphysical Mystery," and she's earned the title. After spending years synthesizing research from 70+ scientists across a dozen disciplines, she wrote The Art and Science of Wishing, an 879-page deep dive into the mechanics behind something most of us dismiss as childlike fantasy. She's a storyteller, not a scientist, which means she translates all of it into something you can actually use.In this conversation, Brownell joins Will and Karen to break down the neuroscience, psychology, and yes, quantum physics behind one of humanity's oldest rituals. No vision boards required. What You'll HearThe surprisingly clear distinction between a wish, a prayer, and a goal, and why it actually matters when you're trying to get what you wantWhat a "cosmic wish" is, and the specific shift that separates wishful thinking from something that worksThe four possible responses to any wish you make. yes is only one of them, and honestly not always the best oneWhy repeating a wish isn't magical thinking. it's neuroplasticity, and there's hard science behind why it rewires your brain toward what you wantThe "three Ps" framework Brownell uses to structure a wish so your brain can actually act on itWhy your body might be doing more of the wishing than your conscious mind, and what the Huna tradition says about making peace with thatThe Global Consciousness Project, collective wishing, and the genuinely unsettling question of whether thousands of people wishing for the same thing could move the needle on realityBrownell also wrote an entire chapter specifically for skeptics. Will found it. He felt seen.Listen If You've Ever Thought: "I know this is probably nonsense, but I still make wishes anyway."That instinct might be smarter than you think. Psychological safety is often described as the belief that you won't be punished or humiliated for speaking up with ideas, questions, concerns, or mistakes. It sounds straightforward, but in real workplaces it often breaks down in small, everyday moments.A concern gets brushed aside. An employee showing stress gets dismissed.A mistake quietly follows someone long after it happened.None of these moments are usually intended to create fear. But over time they teach people what's safe to say and what isn't.In this episode, Nicole and Paula talk about how psychological safety shows up in real teams and the leadership behaviours that quietly shape it.They explore how it connects to things like:authenticity and inclusivitycommitment and transparencyhonest feedback and candourconnection and belonginghow mistakes and risk-taking are handledBecause when people feel safe, they participate. When they don't, they go quiet.

Mind Over Matter gets a bad reputation. It sounds like wishful thinking, fake positivity, or ignoring real science. But neuroscience tells a different story. In this episode of Lipstick on Labcoats, we break down what “mind over matter” actually means without the hype. How thoughts affect stress, pain, immunity, and healing. Why your brain and body are always in conversation. And how practices like breathing and mindfulness aren't mystical at all, they're nervous system tools backed by research. No conspiracy theories. No blaming people for illness. Just real science explained in a way that actually makes sense.Because the mind doesn't control the body.It communicates with it.And that communication matters.
The Superhero Show #609Cadillacs and Dinosaurs: Mind Over MatterThe Superhero Show: Mind Over Matter — Robots, Secrets & DamsThis week on The Superhero Show, the hosts explore “Mind Over Matter”, where Jack Tenrec and Hannah Dundee stumble into a deadly conspiracy involving ancient labs, rogue robots, and a dam threatening the river's natural flow. As tension and betrayal tighten, the episode becomes one of the series' most suspenseful chapters.Market Secrets & Stolen DocumentsThe adventure begins when Jack and Hannah visit the lively Mole-run Mall Market in the City-in-the-Sea. Among the wares, a stall owner named Ferris claims to sell harmless knick-knacks and scrap parts. But Hannah spots something else — a hidden box of old blueprints and documents related to a long-sealed lab run by a defunct corporation, Cybercore. She pockets the paperwork while Ferris is distracted. randomhoohaas.flyingomelette.com+1Almost immediately, the stakes rise. The next morning, Jack discovers that a river's water supply has mysteriously dried up. He then learns that a dam has been built to divert the water — a project tied to the excavation of the ancient lab tied to those stolen blueprints. randomhoohaas.flyingomelette.com+1Into the Lab: Betrayal and Mechanical MayhemSuspicion mounting, Jack sneaks into the excavation site disguised as a guard to investigate. Meanwhile, Hannah confronts Ferris at the dig site but is captured and brought inside the lab, where she learns that the excavation team is attempting to unseal a high-tech Cybercore facility. randomhoohaas.flyingomelette.com+1Inside the lab, the pair discover the dangerous prototype: a tunneling robot known as RXB14. As Dr. Fessenden attempts to activate it, the robot goes rogue — and triggers all the hidden robots in storage, turning the lab into a deadly mechanical gauntlet. randomhoohaas.flyingomelette.comChaos ensues. Jack and Hannah scramble to avoid lethal drills, collapsing structures, and malfunctioning automatons unleashed in tight corridors. The hosts unpack the panic, the desperation, and the narrow escape as the two fight their way out alive. randomhoohaas.flyingomelette.com+1Collapse of the Dam — Nature's RevengeAfter escaping the lab, Jack realizes the only way to stop the robotic threat — and prevent future catastrophe — is to destroy the dam. He rigs the supports and floods the dig site, washing away the lab and the mining operation. The river returns to its natural course. randomhoohaas.flyingomelette.com+1In the aftermath, Jack and Hannah reflect on the danger of tampering with ancient technology and disregarding natural balance. The ruined lab stands as a warning: sometimes, digging for power unearths more danger than discovery.Final Thoughts: Mind Over Matter Pushes Survival and Ethics to the...

What happens when Dungeons & Dragons decides to give psionics another shot? The RPGBOT.Podcast dives headfirst into the Unearthed Arcana Psion Update—an experiment in psychic power, spell mechanics, and a whole lot of questionable design choices. From the disappointing Life Inversion Field to the glorious chaos of Psychic Scream, the crew breaks down what works, what doesn't, and what might just melt your brain. Patreon supporters help shape the future of RPGBOT's deep dives into D&D, Pathfinder, and other TTRPG systems. Show Notes In this second half of the RPGBOT.Podcast review of Wizards of the Coast's Unearthed Arcana Psion Update, the hosts dissect the expanded spell list and the mechanics that define the psionic experience. The conversation begins with casual banter—complete with birthday wishes for Randall's mom—before diving deep into D&D's psychic frontier. Each spell gets the RPGBOT treatment, with careful attention to balance, design, and playability. The hosts critique heavy hitters like Abidalzim's Horrid Wilting, explore new mechanics in Bleeding Darkness and Ectoplasmic Trail, and question whether Ego Whip deserves a spot in anyone's spellbook. They also highlight bright spots like Enemies Abound and Intellect Fortress, praising their clarity and efficiency. The discussion doesn't shy away from tough critiques—Life Inversion Field and Life Siphon both fall flat, while the nerf to Mental Prison earns collective groans. Yet, redemption arrives in the form of Psionic Blast and Psychic Scream, which the hosts hail as excellent examples of balanced, high-impact design. Along the way, they examine how intelligence saving throws affect game balance, the evolution of psionics in D&D 5e, and the potential for homebrew fixes. Whether you're a dungeon master looking to integrate psionics or a player hunting for the next big spell combo, this episode offers insight, humor, and deep-cut analysis that only RPGBOT can deliver. Key Takeaways Abidalzim's Horrid Wilting remains underwhelming, suffering from outdated mechanics. Bleeding Darkness and Ectoplasmic Trail raise confusion about their effects and visuals. Ego Whip is compared to Silvery Barbs but feels weaker in execution. Enemies Abound and Intellect Fortress stand out as clear, effective designs. Life Inversion Field and Life Siphon fail to live up to their thematic potential. Mental Prison has been toned down, losing much of its utility. Psionic Blast and Psychic Scream emerge as the strongest new spells. Rolotham's Psychic Lance remains a problematic favorite for DMs. Healing spells in combat continue to suffer from low efficiency. Intelligence saving throws risk skewing spell balance toward niche builds. Telekinetic Crush introduces a new dynamic for psychic damage dealers. The hosts explore spell synergy and suggest tweaks to improve design consistency across psionic abilities. Buy Keith Amman's New Book! Welcome to Real Food Recovery, a podcast created by two lifelong processed food addicts with over 100 years of addiction (and recovery) between them. Paige Alexander and Jamie Morgan Reno use their Real Food Recovery podcast and social media channels to share their struggles, lessons learned, tools, tips, and resources that freed them from decades of food addiction, obsession, and loss. In this episode, we're going to explore the science of how our thoughts influence our cravings and recovery. Let's start with the neuroscience. Cravings aren't just random. When we consume ultra-processed foods regularly, our brain's reward system—especially the dopamine pathways—gets hijacked. That means our cravings are embedded in our neural circuitry. Which means, it's not just about food being tasty—it's about how ultra-processed foods bypass normal satiety signals and create unnatural pleasure spikes. In every Real Food Recovery episode, Paige and Jamie take time to answer viewer questions about processed food addiction, obsession, and recovery. Be sure to submit yours on their YouTube Channel or Facebook Page.
