In an era of terrifying unpredictability, we race to address complex crises with quick, sure algorithms, bullet points, and tweets. How could we find the clarity and vision so urgently needed today by being unsure? Uncertain is about the triumph of doing just that. A scientific adventure tale set on the front lines of a volatile era, this epiphany of a book by award-winning author Maggie Jackson shows us how to skillfully confront the unexpected and the unknown, and how to harness not-knowing in the service of wisdom, invention, mutual understanding, and resilience. Long neglected as a topic of study and widely treated as a shameful flaw, uncertainty is revealed to be a crucial gadfly of the mind, jolting us from the routine and the assumed into a space for exploring unseen meaning. Far from luring us into inertia, uncertainty is the mindset most needed in times of flux and a remarkable antidote to the narrow-mindedness of our day. In laboratories, political campaigns, and on the frontiers of artificial intelligence, Jackson meets the pioneers decoding the surprising gifts of being unsure. Each chapter examines a mode of uncertainty-in-action, from creative reverie to the dissent that spurs team success. Step by step, the art and science of uncertainty reveal being unsure as a skill set for incisive thinking and day-to-day flourishing. Maggie Jackson is an award-winning author and journalist known for her pioneering writings on social trends, particularly technology's impact on humanity. Winner of the 2020 Dorothy Lee Book Award for excellence in technology criticism, her book Distractedwas compared by FastCompany.com to Silent Spring for its prescient critique of technology's excesses, named a Best Summer Book by the Seattle Post-Intelligencer, and was a prime inspiration for Google's 2018 global initiative to promote digital well-being. Her expertise has been featured in The New York Times, Business Week, Vanity Fair, Wired.com, O Magazine, and The Times of London; on MSNBC, NPR's All Things Considered, Oprah Radio, The Takeaway, and on the Diane Rehm Show and the Brian Lehrer Show; and in multiple TV segments and film documentaries worldwide. Her speaking career includes appearances at Google, Harvard Business School, and the Chautauqua Institute. Jackson lives with her family in New York and Rhode Island.

This episode is one I have been waiting to release! I met Wendy Blight many years ago through Proverbs 31 ministries and absolutely love her heart for reminding people they are not alone and that God will use every part of their stories, even the hardest parts, to not only grow us, but to help others who are going through the same thing. She demonstrates this during today's episode when she talks about how she was sexually assaulted for an entire day after graduating from college. She talks about how that event led to over 10 years of debilitating fear, so much so that she could not even be home alone. The story about her first night alone is a great reminder that God knows what we need and how He speaks directly to us, even if it isn't audible. She speaks about the importance of learning the Bible on our own, not just through a study or a book, but discovering the living, breathing, active Word of God. She even ends the podcast in a way no one has done before, which I loved so much! Enjoy this episode and let it remind you as you enter into this busy Thanksgiving and Christmas seasons to take time and be silent before God and let your soul have rest. Bio: Wendy is a wife, mother, author, Bible teacher, attorney, and the Biblical Content Specialist for Proverbs 31 Ministries. Her heart's desire is to connect women more deeply with God's Word. To learn it, pray it and know with confidence they can tackle any problem life presents through it. Wendy's newest book, Rest for Your Soul: A Bible Study on Solitude, Silence & Prayer, released in August 2023. She's authored four other books, Hidden Joy in a Dark Corner, Living So That, I Know His Name and 1 John: Walking in the Fullness of God's Love. Wendy has been a featured guest on Oprah Radio, The 700 Club, Family Life Today with Dr. Dennis Rainey, Revive Our Hearts with Nancy Leigh DeMoss and Building Relationships with Dr. Gary Chapman. Wendy lives with her husband, Monty, in Charlotte, North Carolina and loves most when her children, Lauren, Morgan and Bo come home to visit and fill their home with lots of love and laughter! Ellen Dolgen is on a mission to educate women on menopause and break some of the stereotypes out there. So she spent the last fourteen years of her life to researching and sharing the keys to the menopause kingdom on her website EllenDolgen.com Her motto is: Suffering in silence is OUT! Reaching out is IN! Ellen teaches us all about menopause not through the lens of a doctor or researcher, but more like having coffee with a girlfriend. Ellen was also asked to be one of the first regularly featured bloggers on HuffPost50. She's even done a series of menopause videos with Kim Cattrall – remember her? Sam from Sex In The City? Gayle King once introduced Carol Bryant as "a dog lover of the highest order." Carol, whom I met in 2020 just weeks before the whole world shut down with the COVID-19 pandemic, has been on King's Oprah Radio to talk about the love of dogs. Carol is so much into the dog business that she had her catchphrase "my heart beats dog" trademarked and tattooed on her left bicep. She is the immediate past president of the Dog Writers Association of America, a member of the American Spaniel Club, founder of the Club Cocker Facebook group, and founder of Wigglebutt Warriors, a fundraising group that has raised over $80,000 to date for homeless Cockers and other dogs. She's also the co-author of Pet Blogging for Love & Money and author of the DogMinder, a canine health and wellness journal. That's not all. Carol is a very very busy woman. In November last year, Carol's beloved boy, a Cocker Spaniel named Dexter, was diagnosed with and then very suddenly died from hermangiosarcoma. Hermangiosarcoma is a highly malignant cancer that commonly attacks a dog's spleen, liver, heart and skin. Hermangiosarcoma's cause, according to NC State Veterinary Hospital, is in most cases unknown. There are options for surgery and chemotherapy but the Flint Animal Cancer Center at Colorado State University says despite treatment, the long-term prognosis for dogs with hermangiosarcoma is generally poor. Carol very publicly shared her pain on her Facebook profile. Every post, every word she wrote on Facebook tore my heart apart. I could feel her panic and agony as Dexter was diagnosed and dying of hermangiosarcoma. What she didn't realize at the time was how she helping other dog lovers recognize the signs of hermangiosarcoma and get their dogs to treatment. She was also able to bring comfort and learning to thousands by being very public about the trauma she experienced in losing her Dexter. Join me and Carol as we look back on those days and discuss why she felt she needed to be so public with her pain and how the stories she and others have told about her beloved Dexter have brought her comfort in the days following his death. Listen for: Why the Cocker Spaniel is Carol's special breed The sudden onset of the news that Dexter had hermangiosarcoma The lessons she learned from Dexter How Carol is learning to live with her grief, carrying her "grief suitcase" with her wherever she goes What not to say to a grieving dog owner Find Carol: Fidose of Reality Facebook Instagram YouTube Pinterest Twitter --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/onelastnetwork/message

The show begins with some comparing of radio notes when it comes to studio etiquette, John then shares a few thoughts about his studio time at Oprah Radio and then introduces an email sent by a friend with a writing about the meaning of life. Since the writing was originally written in Chinese, BeiBei delivers a powerful reading of the message, that then kicks off a fairly deep conversation about the meaning of life... and death.
The 302 Thoughts segment of our One Thing Series takes a deep dive into our blog post for that particular month. February is dedicated to Black History Month and we thought it was only appropriate to honor and celebrate outstanding Black educators from the past and present. This month we invited our good friend, Dr. Salome Thomas-EL, to join us to discuss his journey as an educator and how the education industry can attract more teachers of color. Dr. Salome Thomas-EL has been a teacher and principal in Philadelphia, PA and Wilmington, DE since 1987. He is currently the Head of School at Thomas Edison Public Charter School in Wilmington, DE. Thomas-EL received national acclaim as a teacher and chess coach at Vaux Middle School, where his students have gone on to win world recognition as Eight-Time National Chess Champions. Principal EL was a regular contributor on “The Dr. Oz Show” and the author of the best-selling books, I Choose to Stay and The Immortality of Influence (Foreword by Will Smith). The Walt Disney Company optioned the movie rights to I Choose to Stay. Thomas-EL speaks to groups across the country and frequently appears on C-SPAN, CNN, and NPR Radio. He has received the Marcus A. Foster Award as the outstanding School District Administrator in Philadelphia and the University of Pennsylvania’s distinguished Martin Luther King Award. Reader’s Digest Magazine recognized Principal EL as an “Inspiring American Icon” and he has appeared on Oprah Radio! And, with Joseph Jones and T.J. Vari, he co-authored Passionate Leadership: Creating a Culture of Success in Every School as well as Building a Winning Team: The Power of a Magnetic Reputation and the Need to Recruit Top Talent in Every School. His new book, again written with the two of us, is available for pre-order, Retention for a Change: Motivate, Inspire, and Energize Your School Culture. What you’ll hear and learn in this segment: Principal EL’s journey into the classroom is nothing short of a calling from above. While working for Prism sports and talking to various athletes, EL realized the tremendous impact that educators had on the lives of the athletes, and he wanted to do the same for others. Listen to why Principal EL decided to teach at the K-8 grade levels and not at the high school level. EL’s explanation of why he decided to introduce students to chess is profound and poses the critical question: in what other ways can we engage students to think critically and have fun simultaneously in schools? The conversation takes a nice turn to how schools must have a culture that supports teachers and attracts future educators into the profession. EL gets very practical on how to recruit teachers of color. Lastly, listen to EL rap and promote the power of an education. This 302 Thoughts was a wonderful follow-up to our latest blogpost, Principal Leadership at TheSchoolHouse302.com: Every School Leader Should Know These 6 Incredible Black Educators–Celebrating Black History Month “Then” and “Now” . In 1980, Mark Ruffin got his first on-air opportunity through the Jazz Institute of Chicago and has never looked back-until now. Mark's new book "Bebop Fairy Tales: An Historical Fiction Trilogy on Jazz, Intolerance and Baseball" is an incredible blend of historical fiction with jazz and... baseball. John and Mark were on the original team that launched Oprah Radio in 2006 and share some of their memories from that time and Heyang admits that she's not too sure about jazz, but the two time- Emmy winner Ruffin, explains the magic of the music. Robert Ohotto has quite an eclectic and diverse background. He's studied everything from mythology to Christian Mysticism, Kabbalah, Jungian Psychology, Tarot, Buddhism, Eastern Mystical Philosophy and Western Hermeticism. Robert's pursuit of psychology and noticing its limitations in understanding the human soul led him down the road to astrology that he's still on today. His work has been featured everywhere from Oprah Radio, Fortune Magazine, Lifetime and the History Channel. For three years he taught alongside the medical intuitive and spiritual teacher, Carolyn Myss, where he sharpened the intuitive skills that were awakening inside of him as he studied. In today's episode, Robert and I are diving into the role intuition plays in looking at people's charts, and how astrology changes as consciousness changes. This episode is for you if you're interested in things like… The awakening of our DNA into a quantum archetypal universe. How to use patterns to change your life Whether or not you choose as a soul to come to planet earth and why you were born during this axial astrological shift into Aquarius. How to turn the lead of your fate into gold. Chiron's role as an archetype and force we're maturing through in the Aquarian age. How we're moving into more of an X factor space where even the gods don't know what you'll do next because the mystical laws of this life are actually changing. And how planets are grids of power that we can connect into and how to communicate with the planets in a magical way. I hope you enjoy hearing from Robert as much as I love talking to him. With that said, let's give Robert our full attention as he explores these intriguing topics and so much more. LINKS: Learn more about Robert Ohotto here. Your Hope-Filled Perspective with Dr. Michelle Bengtson podcast
Episode Summary: If you have ever felt like God didn’t or couldn’t love you, then today is the perfect show for you. In this episode, I had the opportunity to chat with Wendy Blight about her journey to discovering how much God loves her, and how that has positively impacted her outlook since that time. Wendy shares her most harrowing life experience, and how that caused her to view God initially, question God, and come to know God’s love in a new and transforming way. We all go through experiences that cause us to question, and sometimes even question God. Such experiences can either cause us to turn away from God in anger, or turn toward God to find His love and comfort despite our circumstances. We often have a picture of God that is quite different than who He really is, until we begin to get to know God’s character. Wendy shared what helped her get through life’s difficult trials, and how He can change us if we let Him. Wendy discussed the importance of answering the question “Who is on the throne of my heart,” and how that impacts our attitudes and behaviors. Wendy shared how we can know and truly receive God’s love, and how much He desires that for each one of us. Quotables from the episode: Many people question if God loves them, especially when it seems God allowed things to happen to us that He could have prevented. It’s hard to associate someone who supposedly loves you and who is so powerful who allows bad things to happen. But the truth is nothing separates us from the love of God. There are several universal questions people ask when going through a dark time, “God are you real?” and “God do you care? Sometimes we grow up with a picture of God that isn’t consistent with the God of the Bible. What we really need to know is the character of God. Being in the word of God can give us a new lens and a new perspective. Even when God allows things to happen, He is there, He cares, He loves us, He weeps for us, and He is waiting for us on the other side. We will be more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus. But to be a conqueror, we have to go through the battle. But we make it through that because of Him. He can take the most ugly, traumatic messes of our life and make them beautiful with his healing, peace, love, and joy. An important question for us to ask is, “Who is on the throne of my heart?” God wants to be on the throne of our heart. He wants to be our everything. When we talk about what is on the throne of our heart, it’s anything, like a recurring thought pattern, that comes to you all the time and governs your day or governs your life. Who or what am I looking to for my hope, and for my safety and my security? That’s an indication that that thing holds a higher place in your heart and in your life than God does. In such situations, it’s important to have Scriptures which can interrupt those thought patterns, and speak those scriptures out loud over our lives and our situation which cause us to look to other things or other people. When we do it faithfully and consistently, God will use it to change us. When you have the perspective of God sitting on the throne of your heart, it helps you love everyone better. If we don’t truly know how much God loves us, then we can’t give that kind of love away. We love out of the overflow of our heart, so that means our heart must first be filled up with the knowledge of how much He loves us. The reason God loves you so much is because you are His: a child of God. We are blood-bought children of the One True God. That is our identity. When we carry the identity around that we are lavishly loved by the God of the universe, and He lives inside of us, that empowers us. No matter what you’re walking through right now, God is living inside of you and He promises He will never leave us or forsake us. Instead, He is living inside us to help equip us and teach us. Jesus came to save us, despite all our faults. If we were perfect that would make His sacrifice for us worth nothing. Scripture References: 1 John 3:1 “Consider the kind of extravagant love the Father has lavished on us … He calls us children of God. It’s true, we are His beloved children.” 1 John 5:12 “Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 4:4 “You, dear children are from God and have overcome them, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.” Recommended Resources: “I Am Loved: Walking in the Fullness of God’s Love” by Wendy Blight https://amzn.to/2XfwPfv FREE Declaration from Wendy https://wendyblight.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/Wendy-IAL-WIF-Declaration.pdf https://drmichellebengtson.com/great-love-prompts-great-sacrifice-its-what-love-does/ https://drmichellebengtson.com/ask-dr-b-truth-for-when-you-feel-unloved/ https://drmichellebengtson.com/its-what-love-does/ https://drmichellebengtson.com/love-broke-through/ https://drmichellebengtson.com/does-god-love-me/ https://drmichellebengtson.com/because-he-loves-you-in-case-you-were-wondering/ https://drmichellebengtson.com/words-from-a-loving-father/ “Breaking Anxiety’s Grip: How to Reclaim the Peace God Promises” by Dr. Michelle Bengtson https://amzn.to/2ZSTP4N “Hope Prevails: Insights from a Doctor’s Personal Journey Through Depression” by Dr. Michelle Bengtson, winner of the Christian Literary Award Reader’s Choice Award https://amzn.to/2zB0e7J “Hope Prevails Bible Study” by Dr. Michelle Bengtson, winner of the Christian Literary Award Reader’s Choice Award https://amzn.to/2yMdN46 Social Media Links for Host and Guest: https://wendyblight.com/ https://twitter.com/wendy_blight Twitter @wendy_blight Facebook https://www.facebook.com/WendySBlight/ Instagram https://www.instagram.com/wblight/ For more hope, stay connected with Dr. Bengtson at: To order Breaking Anxiety’s Grip: https://drmichellebengtson.com/breaking-anxietys-grip/ To order Hope Prevails: https://drmichellebengtson.com/hope-prevails-book/ Website: https://drmichellebengtson.com/ Blog: https://drmichellebengtson.com/blog/ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/DrMichelleBengtson Twitter: https://twitter.com/DrMBengtson (@DrMBengtson) LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/drmichellebengtson/ Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/drmichellebengtson/ Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/drbhopeprevails/ YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/c/MichelleBengtson Radio Show Host: http://graceandtruthradio.world/shows/your-hope-filled-perspective/ Guest: Wendy Blight Wendy is a wife, mother, author, Bible teacher, attorney, and the Biblical Content Specialist for Proverbs 31 Ministry’s Online Bible Studies. Aired Thursday, 11 October 2018, 7:00 PM ETDissolving Toxic Masculinity with Thomas B. HallerOur society is riddled with men behaving badly. Sexual harassment, sexual abuse, domestic violence, and misogyny run rampant throughout society, government, the work place, and indeed every facet of life. In his book Dissolving Toxic Masculinity, psychotherapist, award-winning author, and child, adolescent and couples’ therapist, Thomas Haller, writes “the societal standards dictating that men be strong, unemotional, aggressive, and dominant over women have created toxic masculinity. These social standards have an influence on the development of our sons, and if we leave it up to someone else to teach them about masculinity, we greatly increase the potential for their growing up to be chauvinistic, misogynistic, bigoted men who believe they are none of those things.”Topics will include:• Why repeated use of the words “makes me” or “made me” has contributed to the rise of toxic masculinity • How we can teach our boys to not be judgmental • Why empathy deficits at home contribute to toxic masculinity and how we can change this • Which myths about sex and sexuality that urgently need dispelling • Consent – what constitutes it, what does not, and how to teach boys the difference… and more…THOMAS B. Chances are, you see more of the second type. Despite this common negative portrayal of fathers, we must not forget that children still actually need their fathers to be their heroes. Dr. Meg Meeker is the country's leading authority on parenting, teens, and children's health. She is a pediatrician, mother, grandmother, speaker, best-selling author, and host of the podcast Parenting Great Kids. Her latest book is: Hero - Being the Strong Father Your Children Need. Dr. Meeker writes with the know-how of a pediatrician and the big heart of a mother because she has spent the last 30 years practicing pediatric and adolescent medicine. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, certified by The American Board of Pediatrics, and serves on the Advisory Board of The Medical Institute. Dr. Meeker has spoken nationally on parenting issues, including personal appearances on The Today Show, Fox and Friends, The Dave Ramsey Show, NPR, Oprah Radio, and more. She lives and works in northern Michigan where she shares a medical practice with her husband, Walter. You can find Dr. Meeker online at megmeekermd.com. Why Looking Up to a Heroic Father is Still Important for Kids Today A “hero” is defined as a person admired for his courage, outstanding achievements, or noble qualities. It often connotes one who, in the face of danger, combats adversity with ingenuity, bravery, or strength—often sacrificing his own personal concerns for a greater good. Interestingly, this pretty much sums up the biblical model for fatherhood—or possibly “MacGyver,” if you followed the 1980's TV series. Now, poking fun at a TV hero is one thing. Today, we seem to make fun of—and even ridicule—the classic and historic father figures around us, often making dad look like a buffoon. Equating fatherhood with heroism may no longer be politically or socially correct, but it is still correct in the eyes of our kids and our spouses whether they verbalize it or not. How can dads be fathers/heroes our families want and need? Dr. Meg Meeker and I discuss this as we cover the following topics: What is a hero? Trace's take on "Cultural Lemming-Aid." The paradigm shift of manhood and fatherhood. Dr. Meg Meeker explains how children really perceive their fathers. One simple tip to being a successful dad. How spouses can help each other be the best parents they can be. The boomerang effect of mom criticizing dad. Picture provided by: Nathaniel Ether

The realization of our need for help can be humbling—especially when, even after experiencing residential treatment for our kids, our best striving has fallen flat. Though never perfect, effective parenting is intentional parenting; it is not by chance. Well, in many cases there are certain things that dad is better equipped to handle and others that mom is better equipped to handle. When we neglect the importance of fathers—or mothers—we may start seeing families out of balance. Pediatrician, mother, grandmother, best-selling author of six books, and host of the podcast Parenting Great Kids, Dr. Meg Meeker is the country's leading authority on parenting, teens, and children's health. Her work with countless families over the years served as the inspiration behind her best-selling books: Strong Fathers, Strong Daughters; Strong Mothers, Strong Sons; The 10 Habits of Happy Mothers; and Boys Should be Boys. This week we share her new book: Hero: Being The Strong Father Your Children Need. Dr. Meg's popularity as a speaker on key issues confronting American families has created a strong following across the nation and around the world. She has also spoken nationally on parenting issues, including personal appearances on numerous nationally syndicated radio and television programs such as: The Today Show, Today with Kathie-Lee and Hoda, Dateline with Katie Couric, The O'Reilly Factor, Fox and Friends, The Dave Ramsey Show, The Laura Ingraham Show, NPR, Oprah Radio, The World Over with Raymond Arroyo, and more. Has Our Culture Forgotten that Families Need Fathers Parenting in a day when common and simple terms are so often getting redefined, divisions and communication breaches with our kids are rapidly becoming the norm rather than the exception. When terms like marriage and family are now being changed—and even sanctioned by our government—this can foster confusion and angst in the healthiest among us. And when the obvious lines of demarcation between what it means to be a male or female are now being disputed, it should be no wonder that the traditional roles of mothers and fathers are also being brought into question. The issues now involved in parenting kids are more complex than ever. Today, we'll start with what used to be called—and still should be called—the institutional head of the family—or fatherhood. Today's families seem lost without the guidance of true fatherhood. In this program, we set out to provide evidence that the father still plays a crucial role in the life of a child. Dr. Meg Meeker and I discuss the following topics: Is a father still relevant in today's culture? The love of a father provides a specific role that a child needs. Why children need a father and a mother. How the role of a father reflects the love of God. Characteristic of a strong father. Why kids want to feel protected by their fathers. Proof that fathers are a part of God's design. Picture provided by: Gugatchitchinadze (Own work) [CC BY-SA 4.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0)], via Wikimedia Commons

Aside from referring to entrepreneurs as “superheroes,” author, speaker and top entrepreneur Kevin Johnson and I have a lot in common. For one, we both love coding and programming. Yep. I’m a closet geek. The difference is that Kevin entered his entrepreneurial experience as a programmer during the DOT COM boom days, creating websites that rock. Programming was just a hobby to me growing up that serves me today, because I look at building businesses in logical steps. For Kevin, what began with a random phone call from a company that wanted to pay him to advertise on one of his sites put him on a path he’s still on today. Becoming a successful entrepreneur wasn’t always easy, says Kevin, but he learned to put fear aside and move forward anyway. He plays a game to help him minimize his fears. Obviously the jitters haven’t stopped him, because he’s been on CNN, Good Morning America, CBS and Oprah Radio, and has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Fast Company and other publications. Kevin shares his tips and tactics, and talks about the importance of either embracing marketing skills or hiring those who have the right skills. A lot of entrepreneurs are born, Kevin says, and others are made, but a lot of times we have innate abilities upon which we can build a business. Listen to this fun and enlightening Cash Flow Diary podcast episode about how to raise entrepreneurial kids, how to bring the entrepreneur within to life and a whole lot more!

Despite many infrastructural and economic hurdles, entertainment media industries are burgeoning in West Africa. Today, the Nigerian cinema market–”Nollywood”–is the second largest in the world in terms of the annual volume of films distributed behind only the Indian film industry. And an era of digital distribution has empowered content created in Lagos, or Accra, to spread across geographic and cultural boundaries. New commercial models for distribution as well as international diasporic networks have driven the circulation of this material. But so has rampant piracy and the unofficial online circulation of this content. What innovations are emerging from West Africa? How has Nigerian cinema in particular influenced local television and film markets in other countries across West Africa, and across the continent? What does the increasing visibility of West African popular culture mean for this region–especially as content crosses various cultural contexts, within and outside the region? And what challenges does West Africa face in continuing to develop its entertainment industries? Derrick N. Ashong leads the band Soulfège, a group that produces an eclectic blend of hip-hop, reggae, funk, world beat and West African highlife music and has been featured in such major media as MTV Africa and NPR. Also known as DNA, which is the name of his blog, Ashong hosted Oprah Radio’s The Derrick Ashong Experience and Al-Jazeera English’s social media TV show The Stream. Colin M. Maclay is the managing director of the Berkman Center for Internet & Society at Harvard Law School. Both as co-founder of Harvard’s International Technologies Group and at Berkman, Maclay’s research pairs hands-on multi-stakeholder collaborations with the generation of data that reveal trends, challenges and opportunities for the integration of communications technologies in developing communities. Fadzi Makanda is a business development manager in the New York office of iROKO Partners, a distributor of African–and particularly Nollywood–entertainment. Nichelle Pace, Editor-in-Chief of Stylemom.com will be my first featured guest this Wednesday at Noon. She's appeared on CBS Early Show, Martha Stewart and FOX. She was one of FOUR bloggers chosen by Buick to host the red carpet at Essence Magazine's 40th Anniversary "Fierce and Fabulous Women Celebration”. With 15 years experience in advertising, marketing, and film/media production for some of the biggest consumer, fashion, beauty, and retail brands in the world, Nichelle has become a voice for one of the most influential consumer groups, style conscious and “fashionista” moms. She preaches empowerment and self-expression to mothers and is a champion of spreading positive images and relationships of and amongst women in the media. My second guest is on-air reporter Ellie Scarborough. She left her job in a top 10 media market in 2009 when a guy broke her heart. That inspired her to start a company,to help women get through heartbreak and come out stronger on the other side. Pinkkisses.com encourages women to focus on caring for themselves rather than obsessing over their exes. It's been generating buzz thanks to NBC's TODAY Show, Oprah Radio, Shape magazine, and more. The site offers clients advice, encouragement, an action plan, comic relief and gifts of flowers and chocolates with empowering notes for females struggling to get beyond their last relationship. Ellie will offer tips for getting over a guy, warning signs of when it's time to break up and holiday advice for recently-single females.
