Marianne Eloise has had the same Fall Out Boy song stuck in her head for over three years. "It's Hard to Say 'I Do,' When I Don't," an relatively obscure cut from the band's 2007 album Infinity on High has taken up permanent residence in her brain as the ultimate earworm. Everybody has had a riff or a melody stuck in their head, but not at this . Eloise, a journalist and music writer, decided to turn her malady into a story. Her pursuit of the science behind "stuck songs" led her to our unique bureau of forensic musicology. On this episode of Switched on Pop, Charlie and Nate talk about earworms: what they are, why are they so catchy, and how we might get rid of them. Then, Nate confronts his own stuck song: The Lemon Twigs's "In My Head," and in talking to the two brothers behind the group, finds a novel approach to giving an unwanted musical guest the boot. Get out your tissues because this one is going to have tears rolling down your face.  In this ceremony planning episode,  Greg and I discuss honoring the long standing tradition of the father of the bride giving his daughter to the groom versus presenting her to him.  Once we discussed why or why not, Greg offered the actual script he did for his daughters weddings that were, oh my gosh, beyond heartfelt.  I was BALLING! Oh but it gets better.  Greg also wrote a song for their father daughter dance as a surprise.  You'll get to hear it at the end of the episode. TB's halfway through 30 days of Pride, which is part of the launch strategy for the Pride Collection. On the writing front, TB and Miranda have started a new writing project and TB is super excited about tapping out fresh words. In freaky news, TB is stumbling upon more snakes while hiking. Clare has been trying to launch It Started with a Kiss but Amazon is complicating the process. She's also battling Audible to get the correct categories for Change of Heart. It's not all bad news. The Brazilian translation for Before you Say I Do was prominently featured on the socials for a massive bookfair. Toot toot! They crack on to the topic: what's your relationship with money? TB didn't want to discuss this and is pretty sure Clare suggested it only to frustrate TB's aversion to numbers. They break down their relationship with money, starting with their backgrounds. As full-time writers running their own author businesses means they're constantly dealing with money. What's your relationship with money? Jeremiah Brent is on a mission for the original. Known for his megawatt career and likable television personality, Jeremiah’s design approach is rooted in the ritual of living in a home you love and comfort without sacrificing an ounce of style. Despite his visual point of view being highly appealing, he is incredibly thoughtful about what he buys, instinctual, and generous. Natural materials, sculptural lines, and collected vintage mingle in a way that is artistic and uniquely his. Along with his husband, Nate Berkus, Jeremiah’s current TV projects include HGTV’s competition show Rock the Block and Netflix’s Say I Do, along with the popular Nate and Jeremiah by Design, which follows their career and family life with their two adorable children, Poppy and Oskar. His collections of furniture for Living Spaces are a study in emotional and functional design. Hey gang! It's the 40th episode of Sprinklez!!! In this episode I recommend two Netflix originals. First up is the fascinating "Indian Matchmaking." I found myself binging this in the course of a week. A reality matchmaking show that is light, interesting and fun!Secondly I have found a temporary fix for those of you who have a long wait for QUEER EYE Season 6, its by some of the makers of QUEER EYE, and it's called SAY I DO.  It's a reality series where each episode (there are 8 in this season) a couple gets engaged (its a surprise for one of the partners) and married in the course of just a few days. The three hosts, all three fabulous gay men, each help pull off these incredible weddings. Tear and laughs ensue! This episode's Tasty-Treat-Sensation is BARE's fruit chips! Simple ingredients (no added anything) just dried fruit. Delicious and surprisingly nutritious!Tangent recommendation: Netflix original: Dark, Season 3 is amazing and complex! This is the third and final season. Treasure it!

Thanks to rising Covid-19 cases in the state of Victoria, we've suddenly taken on the role of that kid in the playground with the gigantic snot bubble that expands and contracts on every breath, and all the other states are playing the kids that are doing everything they can to get the hell out of our way. So whilst it's exhausting to endure another six weeks of lockdown, it's a short term pain, for a long term gain. Hence Operation Distraction is underway, with Em deciding to pass the time by consuming as much really trashy Reality TV as possible. In her search for something really removed from her own life, she picked the very first season of ‘The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills' as a starting point, and now she's fully obsessed with Lisa Vanderpump. She's also become obsessed with a show called ‘Say I Do' which is like ‘Queer Eye' for surprise weddings, it's fully like someone read Em's dream diary and turned it into a TV show. She totally ugly cried through the first two episodes, but it's also working in distracting her from what's going on. Michael returns to give us the rundown on how they're desperately trying to finish the filming of his TV show ‘Five Bedrooms'. Em reveals she's had to stop her 18 year old from going away with her friends because of the lockdown and of course there's the wonderful weirdness that is Britney's new brand of beach yoga and how they're totally down for it. There's also an update on the results of Em's vaginal probe, and Michael drops a mini bombshell by revealing he had an MRI, and didn't even tell Em about it. Plus Scott returns to help out listener Meg, who wanted to know how not to let her work define her, as she searches for a better balance in her life. So if you're ready to lean into Distraction Town, get your headphones on, find a comfy spot, and hit play on this episode as soon as you possibly can. Over in Beverly Hills, the Real Housewives are stirring up new drama with the Brandi Glanville/Denise Richards affair rumors, but we’re not convinced.
