Today, we're learning from Shelley Brown. We've been talking about recruiting and hiring and engaging people in hospitality for years, but what's beneath all of that is creating a culture of belonging. The very best hospitality leaders I know focus on this because they know that if you welcome people to your teams well, and make them feel like they belong they will not only stay engaged and do their best work - but will help you recruit other talented people. Shelley began her career in hospitality, and in this episode, you're going to hear the early experiences that shaped her view on all of this, the importance of belonging and psychological safety, the "belonging equation," the W.E.I.R.D. framework for creating a culture of belonging - and the importance of continually practicing and aligning around values that foster a culture of belonging. Learn more about Shelley's work on her websiteRead Shelley's book: Weird Girl Adventures from A to ZWhat did you think about this episode? Can you believe True Stride is celebrating 100 episodes? Striders, together, we came far in this journey of joy, reflection, and self-awareness. It's amazing to think we spent 100 Wise Walks expanding and growing together.  In this episode, I'm excited to reflect on our experiences over the 100 episodes and talk about lessons learned.  I'm here to spend quality solo time with you for EP100's Wise Walk as we discover our True Stride. Looking back at the conversations from different episodes felt like an archeological experiment. Let's take time to slow down and celebrate. On our Wise Walk, I give you the top 10 lessons that contribute to finding your True Stride. Come with me as we reflect on these Wise Walk questions: Where have you asked for help on something because you don't yet have the self-belief to pursue your goal? Can you celebrate milestones with the people who help you? What's been fulfilling and what's been difficult on your journey? What are you ready to let go of to make more space for things that light you up? Are you slowing down and checking in with your feelings to make sure that you're living your best life according to your Heart Value rules? What do you really want, and how are you getting clear on the steps to get there? When fear starts to arise, do you know that means you have an opportunity to grow? It's okay to use this time to restart or reset. Reflecting on these top 10 lessons can help you reevaluate what you're doing to show up as your authentic self. Your Heart Value is meant to be shared with the world. Drop into your heart and pay attention to your inner compass with these Wise Walk questions: What is one thing you're going to do today to support your vital life force energy and your breath? What talent do you want to exercise, make stronger, or bring to light in a new way? What are you doing to cultivate your authentic presence? How can you follow your heart and create abundance in your life?  What's one action you can take to build financial stability? What does success on your terms look like? What did you learn from your toughest storm? Who stood by you during the storm? What “failures” in your life have become investments in your Value Vault? I am grateful for this Striders' community and all who contributed to the True Stride podcast. During this milestone 100th episode, I reference and give gratitude to the following individuals within these lessons learned: Reflect, reflect, reflect! True Stride

Play Episode Listen Later Mar 17, 2022 36:35

How can we balance our heart and mind rather than suppress our authentic selves? In this world, it is important to reconnect to your true essence. You may find this happens when you engage with something you liked as a kid, or when you have an Expansion Experience. By tapping into your authentic self, you fully express who you are and were meant to be. This episode talks about how honoring your weird will empower you to belong and feel appreciated. Not long ago, I was self-reflecting about what's my weird. After a conversation with my sister Heather, I realized my weird relates to my love of learning and teaching. For me, life is about nourishing growth and translating that to help others. I'm more inclined to seek those things out than others. That's unique to me so it's my “weird.” Today's guest, Shelley Brown, challenges us to get comfortable and embrace our weird. Shelley Brown is keynote speaker, artist, author, rock star mindfulness edutainer and creator of the W.E.I.R.D. process. A ball of positive energy, Shelley incorporates her own original pop artwork and speaks about allowing and amplifying your W.E.I.R.D. so audiences embrace individuality and land at a place of inclusion. She believes that the key to engagement is belonging, because when we get to be ourselves, we can bring our best to work, to school, and to the world. On EP 77's Wise Walk, Shelley and I exchange ideas on how to allow our weird so we can use it to serve ourselves and others. Shelley Brown is a self-proclaimed “weird girl.” In her eyes, we're all weird, just different weirds. She speaks about cultivating our authentic selves to experience a sense of belonging internally and externally. Join this conversation to reflect on these Wise Walk questions and more: What is your weird? How did you decide it was weird? How does it serve you? How does it serve others? Like most things, unraveling the tension around your weird can take time. There's no need to immediately embrace all the things you think are weird about yourself. Shelley says there are steps between resistance and embrace. Getting comfortable with your weird requires grace and experiment. If you are brave and bold about sharing your weird, you actually attract people that appreciate that. You can Activate Appreciation in a much deeper, more meaningful, connected way, so you can bring about a community that's going to support you as you pursue your True Stride. Reconnect to your weird, authentic self with these Wise Walk questions: Where are you suppressing your true essence? How can you let your true essence shine? What are you doing to cultivate authentic presence in your life? Join this inspiring community to uncover a new sense of freedom, and be sure to follow and review the True Stride podcast as we continue to exchange our light and Heart Value with each other. In this episode: [00:23] - Welcome to the show! [02:35] - Shelley Brown says a sense of belonging is her #1 value. [05:00] - People just want to connect. [06:32] - Getting comfortable with your weird doesn't mean you immediately embrace your weird. [08:37] - Shelley talks about separating from a part of who she thought she was to really explore her identity. [10:44] - Reconnect to your truest essence with experiences that expand your perception of yourself. [13:07] - Mary Tess gives an example of how Expansion Experiences continue to allow her to reconnect with the Heart Value she shares. [15:36] - Shelley wants to make mindfulness accessible to those who think the topics are too “Woo-Woo”. [17:31] - Mindfulness with music. [20:10] - Shelley says that the nervous system can be reset to some extent. [22:21] - Mary Tess talks about how, “Thoughts are things.” [23:58] - How does Shelley use art to express herself and bring people into the world she is expressing? [25:49] - Being your true, authentic self attracts the fitting people towards you. [28:09] - Do you know which parts of you that you view as “weird”? [30:15] - Shelley remembers being made fun of for her artist side, and now it's such a huge part of her life. [33:05] - Shelley encourages people to take incremental steps towards getting comfortable with their weird. [35:12] - Thank you for listening! Memorable Quotes: “Everyone wants to self-express and feel like they fit in with other people.” - Mary Tess “I feel like my art is the embodiment of what I value, which is ‘welcoming'. They worked in hospitality at the Westin Hotel in Chicago, and they thought she'd be a good addition to their team. They were right. She interviewed for and landed the job of concierge, or as she refers to it, “professional friend.” To Shelley, this was the perfect job for her considering her mantra was, “Who can I make friends with today?” Her job was to provide resources, build relationships, and make people happy enough to return to the hotel. But Shelley was young and didn't want to work every weekend, so she left her concierge job and eventually became a successful tech salesperson. Though she was very good at her job—she was among the top sales reps for three years—that wasn't enough for the leaders. Her success in her job was measured by data, and soon KPIs became more important than Shelley's ability to make friends. As her job became more and more transactional, her stress increased. She was devastated that her own personal magic was no longer valued. When she set her sights on enterprise sales for Fortune 500 companies, the leaders said she was too wild, too artsy, too out-of-the-box, and too weird. Even though she could “sell like a badass,” she didn't fit the role of what her team looked like, sounded like, or worked like. Then a collapsed vertebrae forced Shelley, an ultra-marathon runner and group fitness instructor, to rethink who she was and why she did what she did. Her job wasn't letting her be herself, that fired-up, compassionate, extroverted, cheerleader who never stopped being a “professional friend.” She became a certified mindfulness teacher who “kum-by-rocks,” teaching self-awareness practices and processes so that leaders and workers, teachers and students, can all get back to “human-ing.” Though she first believed that mindfulness is only for tea-drinking yogis, now she teaches how it's fitness for your brain and an essential practice for how we show up.She believes the key to success is to balance metrics with mindfulness and performance with a sense of belonging, because when we get to be ourselves, we can bring our best to work, to school, and to the world. Shelley works with corporations and schools to teach actionable mindfulness processes that encourage people to embrace their W.E.I.R.D. and unite via individuality., Shelley is also the author of “Weird Girl Adventures from A to Z” (AlyBlue Media, 2021).

Today's guest on Be The Good is Shelley Brown, executive director of the State Theatre Center for the Arts in Easton, PA. Some takeaways: Life's path goes in many directions, Be open to opportunities and be YOU, Bring YOUR unique skill set to whatever you do, Give the people what they want in business This episode is for you if: -you are an artist -you enjoy the arts (who doesn't?) -your career path is not one tiny, narrow, straight line (whose is or wants to be, really?) -curious as to how theaters are working to open back up -want to be inspired by how one person can make a difference in a community Before heading to the State, Shelley was a television producer. Before that, a probation officer. Her multi-faceted background greatly shaped how she then took the State Theatre from nearing shutdown to the successful Center for the Arts it is today. The State is home to the Freddy Awards, has won Emmys, hosts countless national tours, concerts, weddings, and more. It is such a staple to the Easton community. And now, as Shelley says in this episode, “especially when times are tough, people want to feel good.” The State's first show takes to the stage September 10th, and they hope to have a full season ahead. Hearing about the theater is but one piece of our conversation. I love the deep dive into Shelley's career path: her courage in taking risks, how the community did not think she would be able to help the failing theater when she arrived, how she won them over and built so much, brought her own unique talents and experiences to the table, and put listening at the top of her priorities. I am personally grateful to Shelley and the State for bringing so much positive attention to the area's high school drama programs, the opportunity to perform on that stage as well as broadcast on television, and introducing me to friends I have to this day! As Shelley says, It is hard to be excellent, but it is so worth it, isn't it? :) Statetheatre.org @statetheatrepa We need all the good news we can get. "I'm allergic to that." When she arrived in Spain, a shy, incredibly picky eater and study abroad student, that's what Rachel would tell people to avoid having to try new foods. It didn't take long for her to choose to be polite and try the foods, and that simple act of kindness and curiosity became the key to unlocking her adventurous spirit and become, as she says, unmuted. Rachel's Spanish teacher had suggested that she apply to study abroad saying: "You really have an affinity for this, have you considered studying abroad?" Her immediate response was no, she wasn't interested in leaving her small liberal arts college for a semester. But the adults in her life encouraged her, saying that she would regret not going, and sharing their own regrets for turning down a similar opportunity. She remembered arriving at the airport in Madrid, which appeared to be in total chaos, especially for a sheltered young woman. It was her study abroad experience that awakened Rachel to her sense of adventure, which only increased with more experiences outside of her comfort zone, and isn't that always our path toward personal growth? Rachel is the kind of woman who  A highlight of our conversation was when we talked about our human tendency to underestimate people and things that we make a snap judgment about. We began our conversation on that topic when she told the story of her experience with an eggplant dish presented to her by her host family in Spain. It's not a stretch to apply that lesson to people we meet. Both of us had stories about our spouses related to this idea: "If I had never opened the door to the possibility that he could be different than my first impressions of him on the surface, would I have even allowed for that possibility to happen?" "When we're willing to stay curious and open, things we're not even aware of are possible on the other side of that."  In our conversation I mentioned my friend Shelley Brown's recently published book, Weird Girl Adventures, in the context of allowing our sense of what's weird about us to be a larger part of our best relationships. When you've listened to the episode, I'm sure you'll want to connect with Rachel on LinkedIn, and be sure to dig into her website to learn more about what she does, and how magically she does it. And check out the song Rachel sang a line from at the end of our call, This is Me from The Greatest Showman. If you're also curious about the lyrics I shared, here's Mary Mary with Can't Give Up Now. --- ABOUT SARAH: "Uncovering the right stories for the right audiences so executives, leaders, public speakers, and job seekers can clearly and actively demonstrate their character, values, and vision." In my work with coaching clients, I guide people to improve their communication using storytelling as the foundation of our work together. What I've realized over years of coaching and podcasting is that the majority of people don't realize the impact of the stories they share - on their internal messages, and on the people they're sharing them with. My work with leaders and people who aspire to be leaders follows a similar path to the interviews on my podcast, uncovering pivotal moments in their lives and learning how to share them to connect more authentically with others, to make their presentations and speaking more engaging, to reveal patterns that have kept them stuck or moved them forward, and to improve their relationships at work and at home. This showcase is the culmination of their hard work as they cross the finish line to becoming certified speakers.  These episodes give you a peek behind the curtain to witness the amazing Big Talks presented, and also give you exclusive access to my live feedback and direction I give to each speaker immediately following their performances. This week's episode features Shelley Brown and her talk, Filling the Void With Our Voice. As an author and international mindfulness educator, Shelley is best known as the creator of Weird Girl Adventures. She invites audiences into her world where Judy Blume meets Sex in the City to encourage a lens of acceptance and belonging instead of perfection. In her illuminating and inspiring Big Talk, Shelley shares her difficult story of having a doctor-recommended hysterectomy that was ultimately medically unnecessary. She champions others to remove the shame, stigma, and taboos of talking about our sexual health and to use our voices to question and debunk myths. Most importantly, she challenges us to use our voice to connect with compassion and empathy, to inspire hope and courage, and to ignite change.  Our voice can fill the void.

Do you consider yourself a bit of a "Weirdo"? If so, this is the episode for you. Our guest this week believes your weirdness isn't what separates you, but is actually the very thing that creates your greatest connections with others. Erin sits down with Shelley Brown, speaker, author, artist, mindfulness educator, and all around weird girl. Shelley is the founder of Weird Girl Adventures, and she's releasing her first book soon, Weird Girl Adventures from A to Z. (think: Judy Blume meets Sex in The City). Erin starts by asking Shelley what her definition of 'weird' is, and if there was a moment when her weirdness felt validated. Shelley Explains that trying to fit in for so long got to a point where she had a crisis at work from her stress response, what she found to help her, and what she would now suggest for others to do to help manage their stress levels. Shelley explains moving at a million miles an hour, never sleeping, over-thinking everything. She didn't know it could be any different. So, as soon as she figured out she didn't have to live in a constant state of stress, she wanted to share that with everyone she possibly could.  Shelley talks about how she used rock music to try and understand mindfulness and meditation. Uhhh, pretty weird. And it works. Next, Erin asks Shelley about the concept of "bull-should". That is, when people tell you where you should be, who you should be, how you should be. "Should Shaming" runs rampant, and Shelley's fix for that is "allowing", instead of should-ing. This leads into a discussion on company culture and how effective mindfulness and individuality an be at turning the ecosystem of work into a much more humanized experience, which would then serve to optimize business outcomes. Finally, they talk about Shelley's upcoming book - a blend of Judy Blume and Sex and The City. Shelley tells us anyone can read this book...but you just have to be ok with vaginas. One year ago today (for this recording), March 12, 2020, we were at the top of the world at the Mid-America Club in Chicago on the 80th floor of the AON Center. The No Longer Virtual Summit, limited to 50 guests, had shrunk to 20 in the room. When my husband and I left Montana at 6am on the Tuesday before, the airport was pretty quiet. I remember thinking the airplane was particularly clean that morning. We arrived at O'Hare and took the train into the city. I had already received 5 or 6 cancelations from people who didn't feel safe to travel, or their employers were highly discouraging them from leaving the county or country (Canada). I also received a dozen messages and calls asking me not to cancel. Since we were already there, and others were on their way, we went forward. Wednesday was brutal. It seemed the hotel was going to hold me to my contract, which meant my room attrition might cost me nearly $10,000, and that didn't include the catering bill. The Mid-America Club was far more accommodating. With less than 24 hours notice, they allowed me to shift the final catering number in half, reducing the potential for a dramatic amount of food waste, something I couldn't tolerate on top of the rest of the stress filling my days. On this episode of the Your Stories Don't Define You podcast, I'm joined by three #NLVChicago2020 guests. Shelley Brown, Mike "Fritz" (the Fritziest) Fritzius, and Kevin Strauss shared their stories about those two days in our little #NLV bubble. It was magical, truly, and you'll see I'm not the only one who feels that way. My intention is to have a few more of these episodes to highlight the experiences of others in the room those two days. It was different for everyone, and yet, we knew we were surrounded by the people who would help us adjust as the world around us transformed before our eyes. In my work with coaching clients, I guide people to improve their communication using storytelling as the foundation of our work together. What I’ve realized over years of coaching and podcasting is that the majority of people don’t realize the impact of the stories they share - on their internal messages, and on the people they’re sharing them with. Another great introduction from Shelley Brown, Kat Barker was a fabulous guest on this episode of Your Stories Don't Define You. Kat’s mom was a therapist and her dad a writer. They self-analyzed themselves into a mess, and she struggled to find ways to address her inner emotions. She craved something completely different, and worked hard to avoid a career in any field related to her mom’s. What's the perfect contradiction & complement to therapy? Comedy, of course! After finishing her degree, she moved to Chicago to try her skills at improvisation and landed a career with Second City. As much as she loves the work, she found herself continually drawn toward not only the observation of humanity necessary to be great at improvisation, but the part of humanity that needs serious attention - our internal dialogs, the way we hold trauma and stress in our bodies and neural pathways, our thoughts about who we are and how we show up. --- If you loved this episode, please give it 5 stars and maybe write a review? After a lifetime of fitness that included 25 marathons, six ultra-marathons, and countless half-marathons, and leading four to six indoor cycling classes a week, she found herself dealing with chronic pain and an impaired ability to walk. Like many, Shelley has experienced the peaks and valleys of life in the corporate world. She has over 25 years of experience as a quota-carrying national and regional salesprofessional for both private and public corporations in the hospitality and technologysectors. She has ridden economic storms, leadership changes, mergers, acquisitions, downsizings, public-private transitions, acts of God, performance reviews, KPIs, greatmentors, not-so-great mentors, workplace cultures with every type of morale, and manyother variables that impact one’s relationship with work. But six years ago, she faced her greatest challenge when she suffered a serious spinal injury. The life she knew had ended and this incapacitating injury—alongside shifting circumstances at work—held her captive in a persistent state of anxiety. She was in a constant “flight/fight/freeze” mentality about her health, her career, and her future..How was it that she could complete a marathon, fly around the country to meet with c-suite executives of Fortune 500 enterprises, present to rooms full of strangers, and receiveaccolades as a top performer—but now shake at just the thought of picking up thephone to call a prospect? All the podcasts and books in the world didn’t seem to help. Even the return to vigorousworkouts only provided a temporary respite. Then, she discovered the practice of mindfulness and learned that stress is a physiologicalexperience—not something you can “talk yourself out of.”She thought meditation was too passive for someone “high energy” like me. But afterexperiencing the pronounced professional and personal benefits of mindfulness derivedfrom a disciplined, daily practice, she was inspired to dedicate her career to helping othersby introducing mindfulness practices at work.

Our guest is our #1 TNT fan and supporter - Shelley Brown! Shelley Brown believes mindfulness is not what we've all been led to believe. Mindfulness is becoming more and more mainstream, and yet it still gets greeted with the “cringe” factor, gets put in the "too weird for the workplace" basket or worse yet, put in the same category as “chair massage”. Shelley understands, she too was a "Cringer". As a former high-octane sales pro and endurance athlete, she was a total skeptic and thought mindfulness was for tea-drinking yogis (not that there's anything wrong with that). She soon learned the truth and what has become a way of life has now turned into her purpose. Shelley's mission is to invite leaders to explore this transformative practice in an inclusive and accessible way with the intention to make it “sticky” not "icky" leading to a sustainable mindful culture. Rather than a focus on what's often seen as woo-woo, weird approaches, Shelley know it's a practice of rock stars and warriors... a practice that transcends calm...a practice that invites leaders to extend time in the present, to be conscious, to practice real-time self-awareness, to “Walk their Talk”, to lead with accountability, resilience, compassion, openness, equanimity and heart. Shelley spent decades in the corporate world in national and regional sales management roles in both high-tech and hospitality industries. Today she remains connected to the corporate world...only now as a Rock Star Mindfulness speaker and workshop facilitator! Shelley believes this practice of mindfulness helps us to find more joy and show up better for each other. Your Stories Don’t Define You, How You Tell Them Will

It was somewhere in the late 1970s when my father came home with a microwave oven. Definitely one of the first on our block and huge, my father proudly showed it to my mom as the "next great invention." We had no idea what to do with it, though the booklet had recipes, and settings to defrost meats and soften butter. I remember using it regularly to heat up our frozen vegetables, peas, corn, green beans. I also remember experimenting with the defrost feature, and failing miserably, cooking to death a beautiful steak or a pound of ground beef to devastating effects -- precious commodities because money was tight. We made scrambled eggs a few times, but cleaning the crusty containers was a hassle so we didn't do that very often. When my parents splurged on a baby sitter for a date night, I remember the excitement of getting to pick out special frozen dinners at the store, made especially for heating in the microwave. Full of salt and fat, they were such a luxury for me and my siblings. Ick. We would walk through the frozen food aisle, gazing longingly at the variety of Swanson's and Banquet options, knowing we had to avoid any in foil containers, which was most of them. When we would find a few "Now in Microwaveable Containers!", we would excitedly pull them from the reach-in freezer and read the directions on the back of the package. While I was perfectly happy to pick one that read "hot and ready to eat in 18 minutes", my younger sister would compromise on her selection to get one that took less time, maybe 15 or 16 minutes. A few years later, as the microwave generation started to take off and find its way through the frozen food aisle, I remember looking at the back of the package and returning it to the freezer if it said anything more than 12 minutes. Those 6 minutes meant hot food even faster! It was also a signal, now that I can see it from a few decades into the future, that our tolerance for waiting for anything had dropped dramatically, in a very short amount of time. We don't use the microwave for TV dinners or other prepared food in our household now, except for the occasional Hot Pocket snuck into the house by one of our boys, but we do use it (very carefully) to defrost meats & fish, to warm up leftovers and frozen peas, and to soften butter and boil water. When we upgraded our old microwave a couple of years ago, I was pleasantly surprised to find the technology had improved so much that I could now boil water in under 3 minutes. Oh dear. This is why I call my generation the microwave generation. Every time we improve our technology and make things move faster, we decrease our tolerance and patience for waiting. You do NOT want to see me at Sea World or LEGOLAND these days. What about you? Have you noticed a decrease in your tolerance for waiting -- for everything? What do you attribute that to? Do you find it more and more difficult to settle in and wait for things? I noticed a while ago that people, myself included, avoid boredom by picking up their devices, phone, laptop, tablet, when they’re waiting for anything. My go-to is whatever version of Solitaire is handy, or maybe scrolling through Facebook, checking my email, etc. What we’re doing, though, is limiting our opportunities to be mindful, to exploring our thoughts and letting our minds wander and explore. Why is that important? I recently read an article by Jamie Ducharme on the Time website about boredom and its relationship to creativity and innovation. The author suggested that one of the critical factors in our lack of creativity is the fact that we have so much distraction available to us, that we’re rarely bored. “If you’re waiting for brilliance to strike, try getting bored first. That’s the takeaway of a study published recently in the journal Academy of Management Discoveries, which found that boredom can spark individual productivity and creativity.” (Link to the article.) The author suggested that we allow ourselves to sit with boredom when we experience it, to choose not to pick up our phone while waiting at a railroad crossing – or while we’re on the toilet. He suggested that when we allow ourselves to be bored for a little while, our brains start to wake up again, to start that slow whirring of idea creation, to begin to take a detour from our regular patterns of thought and explore different perspectives – it gives our brains the space to be creative again. Distraction isn’t necessarily the opposite of focus, and mindfulness isn’t actually about focus, specifically. Mindfulness is about allowing your thoughts to shift, while coming back periodically to the moment, to paying attention to your physical body, and changing your relationship with those thoughts that cross your mind. My friend Shelley Brown talks about mindfulness in a truly applied, accessible way. She suggests that when we stop to consider where our thoughts come from, to take a few moments to think about the thought from the perspective of someone on the outside looking in, we can see the reality behind the thoughts, which may be totally based in fear, unrealistic in their assumptions, and damaging to our relationships with ourselves and others. Perhaps if we give ourselves opportunities to be bored, we can also take a little time between a frustrating experience or conversation – and how we choose to respond to it. There is that moment, after all, between stimulus and response, where we can choose how we see that stimulus. When something happens, like waking up to six inches of snow and single digit temperatures in April, we can choose how we respond to it. I can choose to see it as negative, positive, or neutral. My first reaction is usually: “No! I’m so sick of winter!” But if I take a moment to consider how I want to respond, I realize that the weather isn’t good or bad – it just IS, and I have no control over it. I think it’s important to allow ourselves a negative response sometimes, at least for a few minutes, but after taking some time to be mindful of our emotions, we do have a choice. The next time you’re waiting in line for your Starbucks pumpkin spiced latte, waiting for the download of the latest operating system update, or waiting for the water to boil in the microwave to make tea, try not to open the game or email or social media app on your phone. Instead, let your mind wander. Let thoughts come and go, like clouds shifting overhead. Maybe, just maybe, you’ll have an “ah ha” moment, a brilliant idea, a realization about how to solve a major problem you’ve been grappling with. Use your short attention span to practice mindfulness – rather than finding distraction while you’re waiting, try being bored for a few minutes. Yes, really. It may be just the thing to help you find what you’re looking for.

Tune in to this episode where we chat with a speaker, mindfulness educator, mentor, artist, and author best known as the creator of Weird Girl, Shelley Brown. Weird Girl is a series of humorous essays written about real-life experiences. We dive deeper into the concept of weirdness and how and why everyone should embrace it. We also chat about an interesting topic of "bullSHOULD" and mindfulness, so make sure you stay tuned. Shelley Brown was born and raised in Chicago, she graduated from DePaul University.
