Capricorn & Winter/Summer 2023/2024 Tarot Forecast This episode is our full five card tarot forecast for December 21st 2023 - March 18th 2024, as well as December 21st 2023 - January 19th 2024. 1 card for the theme of this season. 1 card for what to release. 1 card for what to learn. 1 card for the BIG steps for your highest and greatest good this season. 1 card for the NEXT step for your highest and greatest good this season. This is a multi-layered episode of both a micro AND macro cycle. This episode may have more weight or significance if you are a Capricorn native with your sun, rising or moon in this sign, or have major placements or a stellium in Capricorn in your natal chart. Capricorn in the Tarot, in the Major Arcana, is represented by The Devil. This is sticky card ya'll. It's one of the most dreaded in the deck and carries way too much baggage from our puritanical, patriarchal, religious history. In the traditional rider waite smith deck this card is depicted by a large devil with horns and wings, satan or the god pan, hovering over Adam and even in chains connecting each other, around the neck. The human pair have tails, one is fire and the other grapes. They are in a dark cave-like space. The images bring up all the fire and brimstone judgment of doing ‘wrong' ‘immoral' things and being judged by god and sent to hell. It always calls in the feelings and concepts that humans are inherently bad or wrong and it's so easy to fall prey to evil…that is if we are not careful, we all end up tempted and at our downfall. Interestingly the chains around the pair's necks are super loose. They can be easily lifted up and over their heads. In balance this card lets us know that we are one step away from liberation. That we are on the precipice of a breakthrough, happiness, freedom, and connection to our personal divinity. In balance it says you're one good plan and implementation to better. It calls to Capricorn and Saturn energies of identifying the goal, making a reasonable plan, and putting the appropriate amount of self discipline towards that to-do list slash map. Humaning + manifestation 101. Equal practical and magical effort. Cast the spell, make the wish, utter all the prayers….then meet Divinity at least halfway with thought and effort. In Imbalance it calls us out to our bad habits. The things that we know hold us back and we just have not committed to releasing, unlearning, redoing, or releasing. It calls us out to the places and spaces we're simply not committed to making things better. Where we give full permission to the what the hell effect. We already overspent yesterday…might as well do the same today and tomorrow because ‘What the hell'. When every genuinely helpful coach, mentor, trainer, and therapist knows that all big things happen in tiny incremental changes, repeated over time. If yesterday was a mess…..do all the tiny things today that prevent things from being a bigger mess. Don't even worry about what you need to clean up just yet….if there's a leak…TURN THE WATER OFF FIRST. The imbalance of this card calls us to the fact we're functioning out of fear, base instincts, trauma, and wounded nature….rather than trust and our higher selves. In imbalance it can communicate an obsession or incorrect focus on the material aspects of life rather than the emotional or spiritual. Things being all about what you can get or have vs. what you could create, experience, or be. There is no such thing as the devil. The devil is our own limitations of false beliefs. The devil is the devil in all of us. Our bad habits nd the things we allow to hold us back. Capricorn is a cardinal earth energy - In the suites of the Tarot - earth is the pentacles or coins These represent our resources - time, money, energy, body, mind and soul. - It gets minimized and dumbed down to money and abundance. And it very often is that simple but my offering is a reminder that our experience of abundance is based on the sum of our resources, all of them…how we respect them, nourish, bolster, grow, save, protect, and circulate them. If your resources feel stuck stagnant or diminishing…the shortcut magic to more is to circulate what you do have. MOVE THINGS AROUND SHAKE THEM UP. This energy could feel like stability, stable foundations, sturdiness, and flow in your resources that are working because the emotionality has been taken out of things. It could also feel like blockages, stuck in the mud stagnant situations that just are not moving. If you're sensitive to practical, adulting, doing the things and making intelligent decisions minus feelings. This season could be really uncomfortable and you may find yourself resisting all the things that really need doing. It can also call up a hyper practicality that has you leaving joy, fun, and doing what the heart genuinely needs at a soul level….like following the glimmers…. And call you to lean into a better balance of practical and glimmering magic. Self care is the medicine and harmonizer of this season. Capricorn knows how to work and effort and strive. That's actually easy. What it doesn't always remember to practice in this lifetime is pleasure, restoration, refill, and nourishment so there is energy to keep striving, working, and doing, and community and people to celebrate the goal with at the top. Make time for relationships. Tend to the ones you have and appreciate. Cultivate new ones if there's been a drought. Focus on the simple care first, hydrate, sleep, eat 3 meals a day….once you've got the basics going…then layer in more joy, fun, play, and pleasure. Your relationship with grief impacts all your relationships - whether you know it or not. While the experience of grief is universal, we still react to grief in ways that often stigmatize and alienate our grief or the grief of others in the name of professionalism, boundaries, and self-protection. And when we face a loss from suicide and all the layers and nuances of this particular type of loss, it can bring up a lot for us and those we lead. Disenfranchised grief refers to a loss that's not openly acknowledged, socially mourned, or publicly supported–you can see how bereavement by suicide fits one of the most common causes of disenfranchised grief. When people who have lost someone to suicide feel like they cannot talk about their loss without judgment or criticism, disenfranchised grief festers. It can lead to complicated grief, where our recovery and healing become persistent and debilitating to basic day-to-day functioning over a long period of time. The deep discomfort, shame, and stigma associated with suicide can make it difficult to discuss, so that when you experience bereavement by suicide, you often feel isolated at a time when you carry deep hurt. On today's show, you will hear from someone I have known for over two decades who has consistently and steadfastly led with transparency and authenticity no matter what showed up in her life. Kathy Escobar is co-founder of The Refuge, a hub for healing community, social action, and creative collaboration and #communityheals: Making Spaces for Transformation Accessible for All, non-profits in North Denver, CO. She's a pastor, writer, spiritual director, podcaster, and advocate and author of several books, including Practicing: Changing Yourself to Change the World and Faith Shift: Finding Your Way Forward When Everything you Believe is Coming Apart. Content note: Extensive discussion of grief and suicide. In this Rule Breaker Takeover episode, Steff Gallante discusses her mission to disrupt societal views on self-care and mental health. As an Ayurveda yoga specialist and self-care coach, she incorporates various practices like yoga, meditation, and mindfulness to support individuals in their well-being. Steff shares more about the seven types of rest, and why they are all important. She also highlights the need for blank space and reflection as transformative factors in success and life. Steff acknowledges that these concepts may be uncomfortable for some of us. We hold cultural beliefs ingrained by oppressive systems and there are societal barriers to rest, such as capitalism's discouragement of slowing down and the limited understanding of rest beyond sleep. Reflection is also often neglected when we prioritize constant achievement. Rest is often seen as something earned or exclusive to vacations, and society's fast-paced nature hinders intentional breathing. With all of this in mind, Steff aims to challenge societal norms and encourage listeners to incorporate rest, blank space, and reflection into their lives, supporting their mental, emotional, physical, and energetic health.Connect with SteffListen to Steff's podcast: Humaning: https://www.steffgallante.com/podcastFollow Steff on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/steffgallante/Take the Self-Guided WorkshopThe Pathway to Sustainable, Values-Aligned, Impactful Business http://bit.ly/nobusinessrulesWhat would be different if instead of just listening you had the support to show up differently?Book a free call with Brooke and let's see how we can work together https://passionandprocess.hbportal.co/schedule/5e90bfdd0a3fd40ea459ae2aor Join me in Transcend Your Dichotomy Training Camp http://bit.ly/transcendyourdichotomy

Multi-talented Modern Mantra creative and designer, Nibras Ibnomer, joins studio co-founder Elijah for a conscious, emotive and fluid exploration that will resonate with all artists and creatives. To begin, they discuss one of the biggest blocks to authentic self expression: fear of judgement, and our unconscious bias towards likeability. This programming permeates how we show up in the world, and ultimately, how we create. How to rewrite these codes?Nibras and Elijah radically reframe the creative process from a holistic perspective: shifting the focus from the creative end-product, to how we create. How can integrating embodiment practices and attunement rituals into our creative process support us in transcending the age-old trope of the suffering artist? The conversation concludes with a deeper paradigm shift: the creator as a divine vessel for ideas and creations, not as owner. A glimpse of life outside of hustle and grind. On a blistering afternoon, there was a gathering whose origin was a simple (but deep) question, ‘what else can we do to help humans in this time?” so we got our heads together and Brad and I got deep into conversation. When we care deeply, we move carefully with clear intentionality. The desire was to create a space where each of us (evolved in different ways by the pandemic, world of work and other life's torrential rains) could share from these lived experiences to offer a light-house to folks in positions and in life as well as across various geographies and leadership levels. This episode captures those raw and candid reflections from Brad Shorkend (https://www.stillhuman.co.za/about-still-human )- who is obsessed, and I mean with a capital O, about finding and retaining what switches humans on and off in the professional and personal realms. His input is as diverse and multi-lateral as his energy -sparks. He centred our thinking on our relationship with words, the meaning of work, leadership challenges, and the opportunities emerging to lead ourselves and others differently. The goal is the noble pursuit of better humaning in and out of work. By way of contribution, I offered my own perspective from my time leading teams and organisations as well as reflections on my decade-old journey as a Fentrepreneur. The discussion also touches upon the ideas behind pro-human styles of leadership and the interconnection between servant leadership, productivity and wellness. We end on a high note, reflecting on what future-facing and future-readiness means. Enjoy. Remember to share and subscribe - because when we make the circle bigger, we advance humankind as well as help improve the calibre of the content we create. Healthy Humaning - you're probably either thinking, "I'm already PRETTY healthy," or "I'm the FURTHEST from healthy I've been in a long while," or somewhere in-between. Guest, Deana Tanner keeps it real with me, talking family, hard boundaries, trust, and being your authentic, TRUE self. What the heck is that, you ask? Take a listen to find out. :) “Polyamory is embracing the idea that we never should have believed that we could control people to begin with.” “I say ‘when you go through the personal growth process' because somebody can decide to be polyamorous but if they haven't done the work, all they're doing is they're taking monogamy ideals and trying to transpose them onto multiple humans at one time, whereas successful polyamory comes with a lot of intentional personal growth.” “We need to embrace our autonomy and take responsibility for ourselves, so personal responsibility is also recognizing that which you don't have control over and autonomy is acting on your own benefit, your own behalf - knowing you're the only person you can control.” Damn. Juggling life for years led Daniela Sulek to hit a wall. Her entire way of life changed when what she now calls “humaning” led to her developing serious illnesses while pregnant with her third child, and almost cost her life. With her “play your way through life” philosophy, she now helps renowned, yet unfulfilled leaders move into the permanent state of ease, joy, and passion. By transcending from the conditioned human to the consciousness of their true self, they shift into effortlessly creating by being, instead of creating by doing. Daniela sees through the illusion of rigid physical reality and ridicule of human conditioning. Her thirst for truth naturally brought her on a journey of experiencing the self beyond the mind, body, and physical reality. She has brought a leading-edge concept of applied neurophysiology, energy medicine, quantum physics, metaphysics and higher logic into her daily life creating massive physical, mental, and emotional shifts for herself and her clients. Highlights of this episode: How to play your way through life and success, because it's all just a game anyways. How 90% of our daily action is counter productions to achieving our goals and desires. Why we need to overcome hero syndrome to live our desires instantly. How constant self improvement and working on ourselves all the time is hindering us. The flip side to this is toxic individualism, which is a core component of our collective conditioning. Ugh. The prideful individualism narrative is woven through just about every part of our culture y'all, and we believe it's important to stay curious enough to challenge it and create NEW stories of possibility. When we are in true community, the willingness to show up without judgment or competition, creates a space of real emergent magic, a place where collective change can truly take place. So we ask: What might be possible if we were able to cultivate more spaces of deep safety and trust? What would it take for YOU to draw your circle of communityship bigger? And how do we use our individual choices to move toward building more real deal community?

This past June, we had the opportunity to unpack what it looks like to be human - as a mother, father, wife, husband, partner, coach - and in many of the roles we play. The roles are not always easy, and sometimes a bit messy - but that's all part of the human journey.    In the episode of Plenty For Everyone, we are joined by life coach and dear friend, Marta Brummel. Marta works closely with families and parents to help them “human”. We love hearing this word used in this way as it grants permission to ride the waves of life more gracefully.  We also explore our shared belief and approach of aligning head and heart into everything we do - it might just be the missing ingredient to living your best life.

Feel all of the feelings. Even the ones that feel messy. Or don’t fit neatly into a polished box of positivity. Create your own paintings. Express your unique style. They’ll tell you: To put on a smile, Take the stage, Work the gimmick, Wear the mask of plastic happiness. It’s what they want to see... The spectators. The followers. The audience. Do it for the show. The hallowed accolades Followed by the inevitable silence. Artificial lights that glowed begin abruptly fade. When will we come home to the movement inside us? The honesty behind the performance. The fuel. The sadness. The fire. The heaviness. The energy. The struggle. The ignition. The pain. Feelings are feelings when we let ourselves feel them. Trapped inside a lie of good vibes It’s the farce that starts to tear us apart. An elephant’s painting, Words created by AI. Without the: Worry or anxiety... Sans the risk, Of ridicule And rejection… Creation without risk is imitation. It’s the vulnerability that makes it creativity. Feeling all the feelings. It’s not easy. But it sure beats the drudgery Of pretending. Feeling all the feelings Is human. Feeling all the feelings Is you and me Being. P.S. My “why” that brings me alive and into service of life and the world. I want to learn how to human well. It appears to me that we, as a species, are not humaning very well at present. What does it mean to be a true expression of the universe, to express our full cosmic potential? This is my quest, which is captured in my forthcoming book, Syntony Sense: Evolutionary Intuition for World Changers. Of course, the real joy is in humaning well together. If you've ever seen a murmuration of starlings, whirling with exquisite grace and unity in the evening sky, you can imagine what it would be like to dance this way with all of creation, from moment to moment. https://selfdiscoverymedia.com/?p=93319

After working in the healthcare field for years and continuously experiencing my own health issues as well as those in my family. I knew modern medicine was new and I wanted to know what was before that... what was at the heart of all of this. I knew that there was a need for something different I just wasn’t sure what it was. I knew I wanted better for my children, myself, and my human friends... so I asked the question I had been asking my whole life. what is this place... what is it for.. why are we here... and how does it fit together. With that question the change of a lifetime occurred and life unfolded. Welcome to Humaning 101: The bridge between where you are and where you want to be. You have found yourself listening to Joyful Courage – and conscious parenting podcast, where we talk about the everyday challenges of parenting and HUMANING in a real and transparent way – I am your host, Casey O’Roarty. I am a Positive Discipline trainer and parent coach doing my very best to raise my own two teens agers in a way that grows their internal sense of being the creators of their own lives, and supporting other parents in doing the same with their kids. The interviews and solo shows you will hear on this podcast are my explorations of how to be as authentic and mindful as we can be, while treating the fellow humans in our life, small and big, with the dignity and respect they all deserve. If you like what you hear, please rate and review this show on apple podcasts. And stay tune till the end of the show to hear about how you can join the Joyful Courage community online. :::: Yay! I’m back! I’ve missed you all!!! It isn’t often that I take time off of this podcast, and I am really grateful to have taken the past few weeks off. Some of the things that went down included: Working with three elementary schools here in Bellingham! Supporting the staff members with implementing Positive Discipline in the classroom Shout out to teachers – they are on the font lines of making the world a better place, and just like all of us, doing the best they can with the tools they have. I have worked with many teachers doing the PD trainer, and I have come across some that are deeply discouraged, and others that are super encouraged and what they all have in common is that they show up each day for the kids in their class. And I just want to say that the ways that parents treat their children’s teacher makes all the difference. Build that relationship – it will benefit not only your child, but all the children in your child’s class because a teacher that feels connected to the families he or she serves is going to show up better – belonging and significance are not only what our kids need, it is what all humans need. I launched the Parenting Teens with Positive Discipline Audio Summit Encore Offer! I just couldn’t put these conversations to rest – they were so rich. I know that the whole online summit formula is to give you way more than you can consume in a short period of time and then sell you the whole thing so that you can actually get what you need at your own pace. I followed that formula last time and it felt weird…. I do need to make a living people, and the content I create does have significant value, and….  This felt weird to me. So what I did was I distilled down the content so that it is in bite sized pieces. And omg, going through these audios again was so amazing – I am in a different place than when I recorded these interviews and it really speaks into how our lenses, or our listening, changes over time….  Anyways, I had over 200 people tune into the summit and the feedback was so great!!!  If you missed it, I *am* selling the package, with all the interviews in full, for a limited time on my website. $49. Another significant thing that went down in the last few weeks is that MY SON HAS STARTED AT HIS NEW SCHOOL!!!  Remember, we moved? Do you remember that my son was not so excited? Actually, he was pretty pissed about the whole thing and had a pretty low key summer up here, worrying about what his new school and life was going ot look like. He did make one friend prior to school starting here in the neighborhood. Shout out to Leona who saw my post in the neighborhood moms FB group about looking for another 8th grader who likes basketball to hand out with my son and got in touch. They hit it off and it made a world of difference for Ian to have a friend walking into the first day. And just as I suspected, he was fine. Better than fine, he was like a celebrity. And that is how it’s been since school started. He is building a friend group full of really sweet, kind kids. I get to trust his judge of character and remember that Ian likes to be around kids that are nice and fun. Yay. Big exhale there.  So the family is settling in well up here in Bellingham, super happy about the big move…. Today I want to talk about something that I brought to the Joyful Courage Super Fam group recently. Just to remind you, the Super Fam is a group of listeners who find so much value in the podcast that they are willing to give $10/month as a way of saying thank you. They have all received a half hour coaching call with me, and get to participate in a weekly FB Live that I do in our private group. If you are interested in finding out more, go to www.joyfulcourage.com and click the donate button on the navigation bar. So anyways, I wanted to share what I was teasing apart with the group today for the podcast…. It’s the whole idea of “meeting our kids where they’re at” - We hear these words, but do we really know what they mean? I really was reminded, over and over again as I curated the interviews for the teen summit, that relationship is everything. Relationship matters people. And often relationship is the starting place for any kind of problem solving/solution finding to happen. We have to pay attention to relationship. Its super foundational, right? And sometimes, our kids behavior has more to do with how they are feeling inside of relationship with us than anything else – so doing the work to be connected, non-judemental, curious, present, vulnerable, transparent and honest makes a huge difference. Plus, when our kids are having a hard time, and the relationship isn’t there, the idea that we can meet them where they’re at just isn’t possible. It isn’t possible. Our kids feel met when they feels seen and heard and understood. So yes, PSA for building relationship. Do it. Work on it al the time. Ask your kids how they know that you love them. Ask them what they think YOU think about them. Get curious to find out what their experience is of you and then listen without talking. Listen. Take it in. And adjust accordingly…. Ok. Back to meeting them where they’re at. When our kids are having a hard time, when humans are having a hard time – they don’t want to be fixed, and cajoled out of their experience, they want to feel felt. They want to know that you are there with them. They want to know that you see them in their experience. And if your kids are teenagers – they DON’T want to hear what you think about it. I repeat – teenagers DO NOT want your opinion. They just want you to see them. Believe me, this is tough. Because I have a lot of opinion. I am a fixer – you have heard me say this before. I am a coach – I COACH PEOPLE TO CREATE RESULTS IN THEIR LIVES AND RELATIONSHIPS – why the HELL wouldn’t my kids want me to coach them???? Oh right, I am their mom.  And they’re teenagers. Meeting our kids where they’re at is being present inside of an open mind. Allowing yourself (yes you, parent) to be in the space of not knowing, not judging, not opinion-ing, simply BEING with your child. Now, there may be some mirroring – “you really thought you would get that job and you didn’t” or “you were playing with that game and your brother came over and grabbed it” or “you were telling a story at dinner and were interrupted” – stating what you are hearing out loud for your child to hear. There may be some validating of feelings, “I bet that feels discouraging” or “that must have been annoying” or “I’m wondering if that hurt your feelings?” but remember that you are just MAKING A GUESS HERE. And that ALL FEELINGS THEY ARE HAVING ARE VALID. Because, if you are a normal parent, there has probably been a time where you child has shared what is bothering them and how they are feeling and you may have dismissed it or told them “you don’t have to feel that way” or some other you’re -getting-it-wrong kind of response. We all do this from time to time when we are less that conscious of what we are doing. Not judging, just highlighting. And you may have been right – AND the way our kids feel about their experiences are incredibly valid to them, and dismissing that is just plain RUDE. Yup. Meeting them where they’re at sometimes requires us to not say what we want to say. Sometimes it requires patience and waiting for the opportunity to ask permission. “Can I share an idea with you?” or “Can I tell you what I think?” and being ok with them saying “no” or “not right now” You all know about the flipping of the lid – the brain science of when we are triggered and don’t have access to our thoughtful, logical mind. If you don’t, go to www.joyfulcourage.com/teachbrain to find out more. Brain science tells us that meeting our kids or any human where there as is really about being with them during their hard time. That the being with is actually what will build the bridge back to that logical, thoughtful brain, and open the space for our kids to have problems solving conversations or simply to open up more to us about what is going on in their life. Meeting them where they’re at is about where they are in the moment. The moment holds so much information too, right? And I think next level is recognizing what is happening for US in the moment. In PD this is the first step for finding the Belief Behind the Behavior.  Are we annoyed as a response to their behavior? Angry? Hurt? Hopeless??  Let’s get clear on the ways we are feelilng, like, deep down, and we can start to understand what is going on for them….  Feeling annoyed typically means our kids are feeling disconnected and are looking to be recognized and acknowledged, feeling angry, like our hackles get raised typically means that our kids are feeling powerless and are looking for control where they can get it – hurt? You can guess that our kids are hurting and passing it along…. Hopeless? That is an indicator that our kids are feeling significantly less than perfect and would rather you not take time to notice….  Now, this isn’t our child or teen being naughty, bad, or misbahving, this is our child or teen navigated their world using the lens they have. So this INFORMATION can help us meet them where they are at to connect and be present to what they need. So good. And it takes work. It requires we adults do what we need to do to have a clear enough mind to recognize what is happening when it’s happening, you know what I mean?  But but but – my teen is so disrespectful, or they’re lying, or they just don’t care….  Meet them where they are. Be with them. Deepen and nurture the relationship you have with them. Support them in feeling felt. Validate them – and then use curiosity to understand even deeper and find solutions that are useful to them. WHEW!!!!!!! I know…. So I have a resource for you. The belief is based on the idea that people and their thoughts are both made from "pure energy", and that through the process of "like energy attracting like energy" a person can improve their own health, wealth and personal relationships. What you think about you bring about Yes thought AND actively taking steps that move you in that direction NEMO HAD TO SAY YES AND ENTER THE FLOW TO BE A PART OF THE FLOW What the heck does this have to do with parenting? Paying attention to the flow What makes it easy to be easy going, even when things are challenging? What do you notice about when your family is more easy going? Under the surface/foundation Routines Common language Needs are met Connected Belonging and significance Have you defined where you want to flow to take you? More of a way of being than a destination, unless you are setting specific goals It is an ACTIVE process – we must be in action FLOW state shows up because it all becomes easier the more we choose in Choosing in I say this a lot Being a yes Seizing the opportunities to “practice” the tools TAKING ACTION If you want things to BE different then you need to BE different Interrupting the patters Discover what your patterns are Pay attention/mindfulness Ex – phone use When do you use it What do you notice about right before you pick it up? Where do you use it What routines can you play with that will interrupt your pattern DECIDING to do something different/interrupting Leaving it upstairs in the morning Ex – getting mad at my teenager/taking her angst personally When do you do it What do you notice about right before you yell Where are you typically when you yell What routines can you play with that will interrupt your pattern DECIDING to practice something different Internal work of allowing HER to be responsible for her feelings and allowing ME to be responsible for mine Creating a “one liner” that supports me in knowing/sharing where I am at Taking care of myself Offering my daughter opportunities to develop tools for taking care of herself – LIFE SKILL Ex – being resentful that no one “helps” When do you do it What do you notice about right before resentment shows up Where are you typically when you are feeling What routines can you play with that will interrupt your pattern DECIDING to practice something different Creating routines around that particular time of the day Getting face to face and asking for help Smiling Putting on music Being an invitation instead of a nag All starts with out DECISION to be different The voices in our head “talking to ourselves” true self talking with ego true self has our back – ego THINKS it has our back but is really about what is easy, safe and /or familiar Simple, but maybe not easy The quicker we decide to act on an idea, the more likely we will follow through Getting out of bed 5 second rule Melanie Robbins (hopefully a guest) Example: Snooze button Exercise Making a smoothie Finishing this outline Putting down my phone Staying off social media Challenge for you today: Be clear on the direction you WANT to be going, and WHY you want to go there Notice your patterns that are getting in your way Interrupt the patterns by doing something different Repeat all day long Listen, we all thrive in community.
