Listen to author and critic Erica Wagner in conversation with Sheena Patel, writer of “I'm a Fan”, her first novel published by Rough Trade Books in 2022, and soon to be published in French by Gallimard. In her novel, Sheena Patel explores the blurred lines between reality and the online world through the involvement of an unnamed female character in an unequal romantic relationship. Through this conversation with Erica Wagner, Sheena Patel talks about her desire to capture the spirit of her time. They also evoke “Four Brown Girls Who Write”, a collective of women writers created with her friends to support each other in their writing processes. As part of the Rendez-vous littéraires rue Cambon [Literary Rendezvous at Rue Cambon], the podcast "les Rencontres" highlights the birth of a writer in a series imagined by CHANEL and House ambassador and spokesperson Charlotte Casiraghi.Sheena Patel, I'm a fan, © Sheena Patel, 2022. Noel catches up with Stevie B. "The King of Freestyle" had seven top-40 hits, including the number one hit, "Because I Love You" (The Postman Song), the song spent four weeks at the top of the Billboard Hot 100 during December 1990/January 1991. In August 2018, Billboard ranked the song the 71st-biggest hit in the history of the Hot 100. Stevie's latest single, "Take It All Back", is right up there with his other amazing songs like "Spring Love," "In My Eyes," "Dreamin' of Love," and more. Stevie recently entered the podcast world with his "Freestylin With Stevie B" podcast.
Freestyle and Dance iCon Stevie B has just released hit newest single “Take It All Back” featuring multi-platinum recording artist Pitbull remixed by DJ Sama. A new era of dance music was born when Miami native Stevie B's first independently released single “Party Your Body” hit South Florida's glittering club scene in 1987. After years spent paying his dues doing everything from mowing lawns to washing cars, Stevie B's skills as a writer, producer and performer thrust him into the pop spotlight. “Party Your Body” worked it's way across America, eventually selling over 200,000 copies, an amazing achievement for an independently released single. This success paved the way for Stevie's debut album “Party Your Body.” The album gave birth to two more hit singles, “Dreaming of Love” and “Spring Love”, which propelled the album to RIAA Platinum status. In 1989, Stevie B's sophomore effort “In My Eyes” showed him growing as an artist, as the album took on a much more sophisticated flavor. In addition to his trademark dance songs, the album also featured smooth and soulful ballads and giddy pop tunes. “I Wanna Be The One” solidified Stevie's crossover into the pop market as the song rose into the Billboard Top 40. However, it was the power ballad “Love Me For Life” that took Stevie all the way into the Top 10 and made him the artist with the highest debuting song in the history of R&R magazine. Like it's predecessor, “In My Eyes” went onto RIAA Platinum status, setting the stage for Stevie B to become a household name worldwide. Though the record debuted in the Top 10, “Love & Emotion” was released in 1990 to little fanfare. In fact, it was largely ignored until radio stations began getting barraged with requests for “that song about the postman.” That song of course was “Because I Love You” (The Postman Song) and it would be a highlight and pinnacle for Stevie B taking the Number One spot on Billboard, and remaining there four consecutive weeks. “Love & Emotion” also garnered RIAA Platinum status. Stevie B's career has been a whirlwind of success, with three RIAA Platinum albums containing a total of thirteen Top 40 dance and/or pop singles and one Classic #1 Hit. From heart-stopping ballads to hip-shaking dance songs, Stevie B does it all, and his new hit single “Take It All Back” will surely put him back on the charts as it is going to be burning up the radio airwaves and clubs all around the world. Actress, writer and former supermodel Paulina Porizkova has been trying to date and, well, it's even hard for her. No matter who you are or where you've been, the middle age dating scene is unfortunately no feast of riches. It's actually, she says, more like a lunch buffet right before it gets closed down and everything is cold and dry. Ouch. But her outlook has gotten better and the main thing that changed it is her relationship with herself. She says writing her memoir No Filter (which touches on aging, beauty, heartbreak and grief) helped her reconnect to the most important relationship of all. And Ali answers a listener's question. #008. In their magazine Vedem, the boys of Terezin's Dorm Number One captured the seasons vividly, resulting in some of the most poignant entries in this underground publication - the longest running one of the Holocaust. They tell the story of not only the transformation of the earth throughout the seasons as they saw it behind the fortress walls of Terezin, but of their own transformation. Sid and his friends not only were robbed of a carefree childhood, but of a dignified coming of age. But Sid and Marion's "Harry met Sally" exchange will make you laugh. And hearing them laugh together after 67 years of marriage (and counting!) is a wonderful reminder that in the end, hate lost.

Put on your tiny red shorts, grease up your mullet and head to the airport so we can serve you up a steamy lump of Stevie B’s 1988 dance track, Spring Love. https://www.patreon.com/rss/earfoolpodcast?auth=YKLY39UqS8tlql2lQnxtsZs_d9jaVNkK

Maydan's Spring Love Podcast by Maydan
Recorded at Reg's Place, May 24th, 2012 with guest and fellow CAGG member Paula Ybarra! Miss Paula Ybarra hits us up with a hip-hop infused poem and inspires us to speak in cholo cliches for majority of the podcast. Jess tries to explain the game Asura's Wrath to the crew. They have a hard time wrapping their mind around fighting a giant finger. When will Jesus ever get a cool video game? We dig deep to find the answer! Larry and Paula ask "Why is freesytle music so appealing...to thugs?" Larry's Dad's Corner(ed) treads over the trend of kids recording fights with cellphones then we ask "When is it okay to punch a kid?" A fucking hoot, as always! Here are your supplements, bitches! Jess' review of Asura's Wrath: http://www.rotorob.com/2012/02/29/video-game-review-asuras-wrath/ Stevie B's classic freestyle hit, Spring Love: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0KJte4O-zD4 A freestyle jam from Cynthia: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0lHflNFdS2s Where's Cynthia now? http://www.feverrecords.com/cynthia1.shtml The mentioned "Victim Fights Bully Back" video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=isfn4OxCPQs&feature=related
We tell the Dryad story and bring you even more music This is our Spring Holiday special for 2011. We start off with a plan, and finally bring you the Dryad story that we have been promising since Autumn last year! You can also hear 4 great pieces of music - one of which is a highly sought after preview from the Dolmen's forth-coming album 'Storm'. We finish off with some Listener Feedback, a promo for another great podcast and that'll do us - back in the driving seat again! Full Show-notes, with all credits, can be found on our main Website at http://celticmythpodshow.com/spring2011 Running Order: Intro 0:41 News & Views 2:08 Beltane by Portcullis 3:50 Dryad by Deborah Shinegarden 5:57 Spring Love by Jenna Greene 27:54 Danny Boy by The Dolmen 51:18 Listener Feedback: Annie 56:00 Promo - Bo on the Go! 58:31 Song of Awen by Damh the Bard 1:00:12 Out-takes 1:06:08 We hope you enjoy it! Email garyandruth@celticmythpodshow.com, or leave us a message using Speakpipe Beltane by Portcullis We first performed at Herstmonceux medieval Festival UK in 2001 with some other local musicians. We met lots of interesting people, and quickly developed a passion for re-enacting as Medieval Minstrels/Troubadours. In 2003 we formed Portcullis, and Jason began to put our CD together, which was released in 2004. We have performed at England's Medieval Festival at Herstomonceux castle for nine years, and have entertained at weddings, banquets and garden parties. You can find out more about Portcullis on their Myspace page or on their Contributor Page. During the show we say that Portcullis performed for us in Episode SP21, but in true fashion for us - we were wrong! :) They were kind enough to let us play The King's Return in Episode SP20. Dryad by Deborah Shinegarden Dryad is the story of a Tree Spirit that falls in love with the music and the music of a mortal man. Deborah has been a long-term listener and friend to the show and we are proud to showcase this work of fiction for her. She is in the process of writing a novel set in 5th Century Wales. We can't wait for that one! Thank you and good luck, Debs! Spring Love by Jenna Greene Jenna Greene is a Celtic Pagan singer-songwriter and harpist. Her songs are inspired by hope and healing, following bliss, nature mythology, the law of attraction and the little miracles in everyday life. She believes that music, nature and ritual are an empowering combination. Deeply influenced by the works of Joseph Campbell, she has studied world mythology and weaves these universal themes into her music. Jenna can be found on Myspace, but her own website provides lots of useful information. You can find out more details about Jenna on her Contributor Page on our website. Danny Boy by The Dolmen An all original set both musically and in character, their pumping rhythms derive from the best ingredients of Celtic and deep Folk, bathed in the surf of Piratical Rock. Far from the expected, The Dolmen has proudly developed an identity that puts them in their own musically unique area. They have toured and covered most of the major venues including 3 years at Glastonbury Festival amongst many others UK Festivals. Due to a recent increase of popularity in mainland Europe and the USA, the last year has witnessed the American manufacture and distribution of CD's abroad. You can find out more about The Dolmen on their website at The Dolmen or on our Contributor Page. Song of Awen by Damh the Bard We can do no better than finish the show with Damh singing us out with a track from his latest album, and his first live album, As Nature Intended - The Song of Awen. Damh is a modern-day Bard whose spirituality, and love of folk tradition, is expressed through his music, storytelling and poetry. Drawing on the Bardic traditions his performances are both entertaining and educational, weaving a tapestry of myth, peace, and anthems that speak directly to the heart, but never without a good splash of humour. You can find out more about Damh on his website at Pagan Music or on our Contributor Page. You can find out more about the Order of Bards, Ovates and Druids that he represents on their website at druidry.org. Listener Feedback We listen to some feedback from Annie, who being blind, tells us of some problems she is having with the website and helps us with out Gaeilge. Thank you Annie. Annie is also well-known for her Celtic music and you will be able to hear some of her wonderful vocals in later shows. Bo On The Go! Promo Bo on the Go Podshow Hitch-hiking his way through the spiritual realm, Bo talks to practitioners from many different sacred and magical paths so that you don't have to. Pitbull sound is one of the premier funk carioca dj crews in Rio..up there with Big mix, furacao 2000, Pipos... and even Soul grand prix way back when they played soul still at baile funks .. Sany played a party I put together in Prazeres.. its a favela high up near corcovado (where the big jesus from micheal jacksons video stays at!) its probably the highest favela in all of Brazil. If you know my podcast ,, you probably know the drill with Brazillian funk music..The sounds range from vocal melody, syncopated portugese rhymes.. 5 or 6 extremely overused Samples (pavorati organ hits, rocky theme (chopped to hell), old school miami bass vocal stabs, Dire straghts ìbrother at armsî shows up all the time, Euro techno samples.. and most importantly samba drums (tamberzao, batidao) patterned in an electro rhythm...melody is missing, and repetition is the key.. Dj style is similliar to a dancehall sound in Jamaica.. lyrics are blended by many artists over the same rhythm.. the tempo never changes..... the sound is kinda blowing up worldwide.. But it started somewhere... (that what this special edition is about!) miami bass gave birth to this strange baby in brazil, And the Djís ruled the streets, and built the culture between freestyle, bass, house music and samba in the early 90ís Sany did a special mix for mad decent to launch his own carioca funk clube website and podcast ... YOU never hear carioca Djs put it down like this .. Sany had to dig out his actual turntables for this! they stay on the cdj 100 down there!ITS rio funk party sound track circa 1990.. the first time kids were rapping in portugese over the funk beats.... he puts it out there .. the classics (you got to start with SPRING LOVE!) The musical history told here reflects the first phase of funk, turning from the international influences to a brazilian party, from a inside DJ point of view (don't expect sweet famous standarts, but the rare original dirty PARTY BOOSTERS that made the trick from gringo to ghetto) you can still catch Sany in Rio 5 nights a week in the clubs and favela bailes. http://pitti.podomatic.com / ITS CRAZY††http://www.myspace.com/djsanypitbull††for RIO parties and European dates01-various - megamix gringo oldskool,02-various - brazilian oldskool medley,03-sampa crew - melÙ da professora,04-carlos alberto e adilson ribeiro - melÙ do coelhinho,05-2live crew/abdulah - melÙ da mulher feia,06-bardeux/willian e duda - rap da morena,07-disco rick - funk mama,08-danda e tafarel - rap do festival,09-marlboro medley (tamborz„o remix)Thanks Sany and Pitti....Angola expats next.....
