Welcome to Lunacy; where we discern the sacred from the insane and admit that whether we like it or not, we are all profoundly affected by the cycles of the moon.Today on LUNACY, I talk to my new friend Caulen Lauria about Restorative Wellness and Extreme Sports. In this episode, I freeze my nipples off at -200°, get my elbow electrocuted, and get blasted in the face with hot red light. One for the books. : )Caulen and I dig deep into why restorative and preventative wellness works so well. We talk about the Cryochamber and its benefits after I stand in there for five minutes. We discuss the benefits of PEMF (Pulsed Electromagnetic Field Therapy) after using it on my elbow. Naturally, we talk about the cold plunge and why that works, as well as several other modern therapies at his facility, Cryobodyworks in Austin, TX.Then we dig into Caulen's love of terrifying, but invigorating sports like Wing-Suiting and Superbiking. This leads to a philosophical discussion about the benefits of living dangerously without being a danger, and the profound benefits of, and need for, fierce love in this world. We wrap up season 9 with Alien Vs. Predator; a patronizing piece of garbage that has nothing to offer, and somehow looks worse than the movies it's supposed to be sequeling. And this concludes our season of great expectations. Does this steaming turd basket beat out Gigli to take the title for season 8? Well, you'll just have to tune in to decide for yourself... but actually we decided, because that's what we do on this show if you're a new listener. You're right to have your own opinion, but our science does most of the legwork to determine what is in fact the worst movie ever made. Frightening fellow flight folk with flash photography! Telling your coworker his kids aren't cute! Terminating antarctic transportation and forcing a female to field guide! Serious almost sensual study of skull and spine! Wall gunking girls and guys to grow new face huggers! Frasier! Alien race mass genocide! Jump scare penguins! Suiting up the butt pinchers! Assembly line egg distribution with earthly applications! Slow motion explosion escape tropes! Old man asthma stair marathons, and much, much more on this week's episode of The Worst Movie Ever Made! www.theworstmovieevermade.com Next week, we segue into good "B" movie territory to end the season with Tremors!

Even the best aviaries in the world can become outdated (in product options) and no longer servicing appropriately the birds kept within them. New advancements in available products are always on the go and sometimes the species of bird you have selected to keep do not suit the actual aviaries you have in your backyard. This is often a problem faced by birdkeepers on all scales from zoos to the backyard. So what can you do if this is the situation in your bird life?Of course you can always just demolish them and either repurpose or resell the aviary materials - and we have done this a few times... or you can make the choice to re-design what you have to suit the bird species you keep - making both their lives and your own a little better. This week Birdman Dad shares what items he has selected to add in to his re-designed aviaires. What was once a ringneck parrot complex, then a neophema one - is now mostly a home to a variety of finches and Birdman Dad explains some of the redesigned elements and what and how he added into his existing structures to make them more suitable to suit the species he now keep.Hope this information helps someone in the redesign mode!Photographs will be published on Birdman Dad's facebook, insta and reddit pages.

Episode #85: Rethinking Active Shooter Preparedness & Exercises Episode #130: Suiting up for the Crisis – The Crisis Leader Episode #131: Suiting Up for a Crisis – Part 2 Episode Transcript Hello, and Welcome to the Managing Uncertainty podcast. This is Bryan Strawser, Principal and Chief Executive here at Bryghtpath. And in this week’s episode, I’d like to talk about seven business continuity exercise scenarios that you can use, that you can prepare for in your organization. According to research, we know that about 25% of businesses fail to recover after a disaster. If they lack a business continuity plan, a recovery plan, it becomes hard to cope with the repercussions of a disruption. That’s why your business needs a business continuity plan. Now, to top up your security, your business security, and thinking about exercises, testing your business continuity plan is crucial. It’s good to understand that every business has a distinct business continuity plan and approach, depending upon your industry and your size and regulatory issues, and other factors. That’s why you need to make sure you carry out a risk assessment and a business impact analysis, to be aware of these factors as a part of your planning process. But here we’re going to talk about some common business continuity exercise scenarios, the types of exercises, and the importance of making sure that you’re exercising or testing your continuity plan. First, from our standpoint, there are three common types of exercises that you may use with your business continuity plan. The first is just a plan review, probably the most straightforward type of exercise. Your team goes through all the points on the business continuity plan. We use it to ensure the plan covers all the company’s objectives. And we do this without doing any real practical exercise work. It’s a walkthrough of review. The second is a tabletop. It’s probably the most common type of exercise. It’s definitely a strengthened version of the plan review. In this exercise, employees use the plan in a facilitated kind of conference setting, virtual or physical. And as inputs are received from the facilitator, your employees then respond to those exercise inputs as if they would, in an actual incident. The third is a simulation, by far the most realistic of these three exercises where employees actually do the thing. They use the plan and execute the elements of the plan. It’s the most practical and detailed, and probably the closest to reality that you can get in an exercise. Now, exercising your business continuity plan is critical. It creates a picture of risk scenarios. It makes it easy for teams to understand how to use the plan. It builds confidence. Your team gets practical preparation. They build muscle memory, it helps you identify loopholes in your continuity plan. It ensures you cover al

This is Bryan Strawser, Principal and Chief Executive here at Bryghtpath, and in this week’s episode, I want to take us to part two of our series, Suiting Up For A Crisis. This series is dedicated to helping crisis team leaders and team members prepare for their next crisis. Part one was about being the crisis leader, and in part two, I want to talk about being a part of your organization’s crisis management team, or CMT. As a newly minted member of your crisis management team, it’s normal to have a lot of questions and probably some anxiety about what does it mean to be a part of this team? What are the expectations of me as a crisis management team member? How does my role as a member of the crisis management team impact my normal job responsibilities? What, if anything, can I do to prepare? Like me and many others who walked this path before you, you’re quickly going to learn that there’s no substitute for experience, but you can still take some simple steps to help you suit up, so to speak, to respond to your next crisis. So here’s what we think you need to know. First, what can you expect as a crisis management team member? Well, as a member of the CMT, you probably understand that it’s your job to run into the metaphorical burning building and help put out the fire. But there are many hours of training and conditioning that come beforehand, and the painstaking hours of mop-up and investigation and debriefing that are necessary to make sure that a fire is really out and that it doesn’t happen again. Your role on the crisis management team extends far before the crisis and well after its resolution. Here’s what you can expect at each stage. Prior to a disruption, I would expect a crisis management team member to participate in discussions and activities calculated at improving the organization’s overall preparedness because this is your only chance to be able to do that. My friend Juliette Kayyem at Harvard University describes this as being left of boom. You’re on the left side of the incident of the crisis, and so you have this opportunity to invest in preparedness. This might include things like participating in building developing plans for potential disruptions, integrating an

In addition, Bryan discusses where to find additional training and resources to strengthen your crisis leadership muscles. Episode #96: Crisis Leadership in the time of Coronavirus Episode #104: Supporting the team in a prolonged crisis Episode Transcript Hello, and Welcome to The Managing Uncertainty podcast. This is Bryan Strawser, Principal & Chief Executive here at Bryghtpath. And this week I’d like to talk about Suiting up for a Crisis. I specifically want to talk about crisis leadership and how to think about being a crisis leader. If you think about it, it takes about 60 hours of training to become a certified first responder. It’s about 600 hours of training to become a firefighter. I’m a volunteer emergency medical technician and have been for several years. And that was hundreds of hours of my time between coursework and practical experience and hands-on experience on an ambulance and in an emergency room and continual education year over year to maintain my EMT certification. But to become a crisis management leader in your company, the requirement is no training, a whopping zero. But yet as your organization’s crisis leader, although it might not be your everyday job to save lives, a lot is still at stake, halted operations, downed facilities, lost revenue, damaged reputation, and many times the safety and wellbeing of your employees, your customers, your visitors, and others. Firefighters and EMTs have hundreds of hours of training, building endurance, learning how to suit up for their job, and then wielding the right tools so that they can confidently run into their next burning building or help an individual in need of critical medical care. As your company’s crisis leader, are you prepared to do the same? Here’s what you need to know. Let̵

Olympic and World Champion distance swimming icon Katie Ledecky swam well at the San Antonio Pro Swim, but she was her own biggest critic unpacking her swims in the post race interviews. I thought Ledecky looked great considering she hasn't really traveled and competed in a year. Suiting up at home and running an elite meet schedule isn't the same experience. I think Ledecky knocked off some rust in San Antonio. What do you think? If you missed the meet coverage, see her times: Ledecky - 2021 San Antonio Pro Swim 1500 free - 15:42.92 800 free - 8:13.64 400 free - 4:04.72 200 free - 1:56.62 For reference, see Ledecky's 2020 Des Moines Pro Swim Times: 1500 - 15:29.51 400 - 3:59.66 200 - 1:54.59 U.S. Olympic Trials Predictions? Ledecky will swim fast, but not as fast as she will at the 2021 Olympic Games. At U.S. Olympic Trials I see a 1:54.5 200 free, 3:59.1 400 free, 8:09 800 free, and a 15:29 1500 free. I might be playing it a little too safe, but I don't see a reason for her to swim faster when making Team USA is all that's needed. Still, those would be solid swims in June for Ledecky, but the big question is will she swim the 100 free? I don’t know. I haven’t asked her, but I don’t think so. It’s been a weird year battling the pandemic. I think Ledeckey stays focused on her core schedule at U.S. Olympic Trials. But who cares what I think? I want to know what you think? Give me your best expert swimming analysis.

In A.A. we aim not only for sobriety—we try again to become citizens of the world that we rejected, and of the world that once rejected us. This is the ultimate demonstration toward which Twelfth Step work is the first but not the final step.AS BILL SEES IT, p. 21The old line says, "Suit up and show up." That action is so important that I like to think of it as my motto. I can choose each day to suit up and show up, or not. Showing up at meetings starts me toward feeling a part of that meeting, for then I can do what I say I'll do at meetings. I can talk with newcomers, and I can share my experience; that's what credibility, honesty, and courtesy really are. Suiting up and showing up are the concrete actions I take in my ongoing return to normal living.

The Fear of God designer talks American luxury and why feeling like an outsider is a strength. LONDON, United Kingdom — For Fear of God Founder Jerry Lorenzo, being an outsider is an advantage. “I just feel like I never fit,” he told BoF Editor-at-Large Tim Blanks in the latest episode of The BoF Podcast. “I’ve gotten to a place where I’m ok with that and I don’t need to fit within fashion to be validated… and so I know that I’m outside but I feel like my strength is that I’m outside. My strength is that I see [things] differently.” Lorenzo has often taken a less-beaten path, but it’s his approach to collection drops — his latest is the first he has released in two years — as well an ability to use fashion as a platform to foster social change, that have helped to position him as an industry leader. An outsider no longer? "The Pelican Brief," "The Breakfast Club," "License to Drive" and "Rocky IV" are just some of ‘80s movies Lorenzo often references. “There’s something about that time period that to me was the highest level of effortlessness and sophistication,” he said. That spirit is alive in his seventh collection, which offers an “unfiltered vision of tailoring and suiting” for the first time, as well as accessories and handknits. “It’s a move from an emerging brand to a foundational brand,” Lorenzo said. “What we’re doing with [this] collection is purely our point of view.” Using his platform, Lorenzo looks to inspire young people to pursue their passions relentlessly in whatever field. “I know what I’m fighting for and I’m clear on that,” he said. “Some kids just don’t have the example of someone that looks like them… and without that visual example, sometimes it feels impossible… fashion just happens to be the platform that I’m using to do that.” Fear of God might be rooted in streetwear, but Lorenzo explained why it’s more than that. “Some people just chalk it up to be a hoodie and that’s okay but we understand that we’re providing the solution for the lifestyle that today is the modern man,” he said. “We’re putting out clothes when we feel like… we have something to say… [and] that we have solutions for what’s missing in the marketplace. We don’t feel like we’re operating from a place of a capitalistic spirit, we feel we’re proposing what’s needed.” Related Articles: The Decade When Streetwear Rewrote the Rules of Luxury What the Merger of Suiting and Streetwear Says About the Men’s Market Streetwear Took Over the Fashion Industry. Astronauts are made of the “right stuff,” but what about their spacesuits? NASA's pressurized and helmeted onesies are remarkable, but they need updating if we're to boldly go into deep space. Suiting up on Mars requires more manual flexibility, for example. Find out what innovative materials might be used to reboot the suit. Meanwhile, strange new materials are in the pipeline for use on terra firma: spider silk is kicking off the development of biological materials that are inspiring ultra-strong, economical, and entirely new fabrics. And, while flesh-eating bacteria may seem like an unlikely ally in materials science, your doctor might reach for them one day. The bacterium's proteins are the inspiration for a medical molecular superglue. Plus, an overview of more innovative materials to come, from those that are 3D printed to self-healing concrete. A story for your considerationA lot of times I've wondered what it was like to have a place that was a beautiful alcove that just looked picturesque and perfect. Safe from the public eye and free from pollution. so I used that for this tranquil. Suiting, right?Inktober is a thing where every month of October someone makes an official 1 word promt for each day of October and then artists everywhere make an art piece based on the prompt using only ink products. Everything about this is supposed to inspire artists to create a small piece every day while giving them free rein to let them create whatever they want. From something that makes total sense and is cohesive with the prompt to what seems like having no correlation but making complete sense to the artist.

This week's guest might look familiar to you if you have been following the show for a while, or even just a week... Marco Dapkey should look familiar to you because his story of overcoming acute lymphoblastic leukemia was featured in episode 73 and 74 almost exactly a year ago. Last week, in episode 127 the focus of our conversation surrounded the idea of "EARNING YOUR INTENSITY." A lot has happened in the last year including Marco's first individual CrossFit Regionals appearance where he finished 28/40! He also opened his own gym (CrossFit MFP) in that last year, which we discuss in depth in this week's episode. I can't take credit for the title of this episode. Paul Rabil, who is arguably the best lacrosse player in the world, coined the term "Duality of the Modern Athlete" on his own podcast, which is called "Suiting Up." Suiting up is a show that explores the psychology, playbook of tools, and strategies of the most influential people in sports, entertainment and business. A topic that Paul frequently covers is the trend in elite level athletes having endeavors, passions and pursuits outside of their sports. If you enjoy my podcast you, will love Paul's too. He has had some incredible guests on his show including Bill Belichick, Drew Brees, Gary Vaynerchuk and Tiki Barber, just to name a few. In this episode of the podcast, Marco and I do our own version of the Suiting Up podcast. Is it possible to be an elite competitor on an off the field? I'd say yes after learning about how Marco was able to qualify for the 2018 CrossFit Regionals, which is the second year in a row he has accomplished this feat, AND start his own business at the same time! Below is a list of other talking points we cover during the interview:

Below is a list of other talking points we cover during the interview: This episode was recorded in the gym that was barely even an idea last year. Marco didn’t think business when is came to having his own gym How it all started at “Dap’s Gym.” Why sales experience in other gyms turned him off to that business style. How Marco learned from always observing from a business perspective wherever he was. The limitations of being an employee. Mom always told him that he needs to do what makes him happy. How an internship at Villanova University sparked his entrepreneur on fire. How Marco's experience with overcoming cancer gave hims the courage to chase his dreams. “I LOOK AT GETTING SICK AS AN OPPORTUNITY.” The process of creating the business plan for the gym. Working at lululemon and the importance they placed on goal setting for their employees. The role of relationships when starting a business. Having a plan A B and C. Asking people for advice who have already done what you want to achieve. Coming up with a name and logo. “WHAT IF IT FAILS?” Why people close to him fear for him. Marco’s weaknesses as an entrepreneur and how he accounts for those weaknesses. Why you have to earn your intensity in business too! Finding balance while competing at the highest level of your sport and owing a business – quality over quantity. The culture Marco wants to create in his gym. “POSITIVE VIBES ONLY.” WHERE CAN YOU CONNECT WITH MARCO? WEBSITE | INSTAGRAM | FACEBOOK Download Episode 128 : iTunes | Stitcher

Suit designer Leon Wu sees a person's first suit as a milestone. "Historically, a father will bring in his son," Wu says. "It's like a coming of age sort of thing." But what about a person who didn't grow up as a boy? Wu can relate: "Ever since I was five I would envision myself as a more masculine person," he explains. "Growing up I was happy getting my older brother's hand-me-downs. I didn't need to go buy any 'female' clothes." Wu founded Sharpe Suiting, a clothing company catering to masculine-of-center folks who want to look dapper in suits custom-tailored to every type of body. He joins us this week to talk about their work, and what it's like to work with transmasculine populations. "Whenever somebody transitions or they decide to adopt a certain type of gender representation," Wu explains, "it is in a sense like another puberty." Also this week, we meet Louisville Public Media's new executive editor, Stephen George. We chat about diversity in newsrooms and news coverage, and how it seems like we only see black neighborhoods on the news when it's about crime. "It often gives people a very wrong idea about what's happening in certain parts of this community," George says. In Juicy Fruit, we bring you the story of Jesse Jacobs, a 32-year-old gay man who died in police custody in Galveston, TX. Jacobs had been taking Xanax for over a decade to treat severe anxiety disorder. But after he turned himself in to serve a 30-day sentence for DUI, jail personnel would not give him access to his medication. He started having seizures (a known effect of sudden Xanax cessation) and died a few days later. Galveston County Sheriff Henry Trochessett insists Jacobs died of "natural causes." And we take a look at The Advocate's list of 10 Tips on Growing Older for LBGTQ folks under 40. Some make perfect sense (build a support system and be part of a community), while others left us scratching our heads (don't drink, and prepare to die alone if you don't have kids?).
