The Tom Green Show was ahead of its time. Its surreal stunts and pranks influenced a number of TV shows over the past twenty five years in that genre. In recent years, Tom Green kind of took a break. But Tom Green fans can rejoice – he's the star of three new projects. The projects come at a reflective time of his life and he gets real about starting a new chapter in his life. Plus, he brought his dog into the studio. You're going to want to hear about this dog.Learn more about sponsor message choices: podcastchoices.com/adchoicesNPR Privacy Policy

She's so fed up with her roommate leaving her cat at home while she goes out of town, she's considering “assisting” the cat to run away from home. Is this ok? Decide with TALK ME OUT OF IT. Jess opens up about her upcoming surgery. We celebrate the Tom Green Show in THROWBACK THURSDAY
In episode 28, we revisit the antics of shock comic Tom Green. In the early nineties, Green rose to local Ottawa fame with a rap album, a radio show, and a program on public-access television. In 1998, The Tom Green Show gained a national following on the Canadian Comedy Network, and in 1999 it jumped to the American big time on MTV. Green was the network's golden/meat-covered boy, a box office success in the films Road Trip (2000) and Charlie's Angels (2000)—before being waylaid by testicular cancer, a short-lived marriage to actress Drew Barrymore, and the critical lambasting of his directorial debut, Freddy Got Fingered (2001). How did Green develop his innovative comedic methods? Why have some parts of his shtick aged like a fine wine, and others like a dead moose? Did his family ever forgive him for that stunt with his grandmother and the dildos? Also, Naomi remembers Tom razzing her as a teen on the not-so-mean streets of downtown Ottawa. Emmy-winning Casting, Brand & Talent Development legend Vinnie Potestivo shares just how difficult show business can be. He discusses many hilarious and insightful stories about his career including his time at MTV Networks where, as producer, he helped to launch shows like Punk'd and The Osbournes. In addition, he also helped cast for shows like TRL, The Tom Green Show, Pimp My Ride and many more! I love his outlook on failure: "When you prepare for failure, it sets you up to win epically or fail collectively. If you're failing really really big, and you're the only person who's failing, you did it wrong. But if you're failing with a group of people, that's learning! That's relationship building and pioneering."

Thank you for supporting the show to continue. http://patreon.com/daraquilty On this show, you're hearing a different kind of interview with Tom Green. Tom Green is a household name in the United States and around the world after he barged onto MTV in 1999 with TV like we've never seen it. The Tom Green Show was a late night show which was revolutionary for comedy broadcasting as he paved the way for shows like Jackass to exist. In early 2000, Tom Green was diagnosed with, and successfully treated for testicular cancer. Green wrote, directed and starred in a one-hour MTV television special titled The Tom Green Cancer Special. Tom's fame soon netted him roles in several Hollywood movies, including Road Trip, Charlie's Angels, Freddy Got Fingered (which he also wrote and directed), and Stealing Harvard. Green continued the trend of his brand of comedy in Road Trip in a notable scene where he put a mouse in his mouth. The start of a new week means a fresh episode of the Real Life Podcast is set and ready to get you started on another week in self-isolation. This week, the boys looked at the NBA reopening its practice facilities, great TV shows from the early 2000s, comets getting too close to the earth, listener questions, and a lot more. To kick off today's podcast, the guys jumped in with a look at how they've been living over the past few days and what they've been doing to fill the time. As this period of self-isolation continues, the guys have had to get creative with how they fill their days and it's led to participating in some unique activities. Somehow, this conversation led to some space talk as it was reported over the weekend that there is a monstrous comet that's set to pass by the earth. Did you know that Wanye is a big space guy with all kinds of random knowledge about comets and asteroids? Changing gears entirely, the boys looked back at some old TV shows, including the Tom Green Show and Pimp My Ride, which prompted a discussion about what luxury they'd like to add most into their own whips. Back to sports, the NBA will be opening up their training facilities in the coming days as a means of trying to get themselves going again, and the boys wondered how that will affect the NHL. Finally, the guys wrapped up today's podcast with another round of listener questions and offered up some free advice on an array of topics from life to sports to business and everything in between. Hosted on Acast. See acast.com/privacy for more information.

Jeff Boggs is a producer, writer, and sometimes actor based in Los Angeles, California. Jeff started his career with an internship on “Late Night with David Letterman” on NBC. The odds of getting an internship with Dave is slim so Jeff had an interesting way of getting “in the door”. Once there he took full advantage of the position. Find out about his big break becoming the “Board Guy” leading to a job as the receptionist on the talent floor and then on to the writers floor receptionist. (Many start at the bottom and work their way up. Good life lesson young people.) Writing proved to be one of Jeff’s greatest talents and the staff of Late Night took notice. Jeff’s first joke to make it on the show was part of the famous Dave’s Top Ten list. His stint with Dave saw him nominated for a Prime-time Emmy and trip to the Emmy’s! His next job was with The Tom Green Show on MTV. This required a move to LA and an ironic skit where Tom “marries” actress Drew Barrymore. However that fell through when Tom and Drew actually started dating. Jeff went on to Nashville as developer and producer of “Nashville Star”. The show was inspired by American Idol but unlike Idol the contestants had to sing country music. Judges included Blake Shelton, Brett Michaels, Wynonna Judd and more. Jeff has some wonderful stores about his time with these powerful country music stars. Jeff is currently working on a new project which he is being a bit secretive but we will keep you updated. When not working Jeff has a love of Karaoke! Learn which songs are his favorites to perform and which song ALWAYS brings down the house. Enjoy the humor, wit and storytelling that comes so easily to Jeff on this weeks episode! More info: on Twitter @NotKennyRodgers

Welcome to another edition of Po Politickin. In this episode, we politick with comedian Ryan Davis. Artist Bio... Ryan is a comedian out of Concord, NC whose versatile style of comedy has allowed him open for mainstream acts such as Jay Pharoah of SNL, urban acts like Michael Blackson of Next Friday, and eccentric acts like Tom Green of The Tom Green Show. By winning many comedy competitions, starting a successful monthly comedy showcase, and gaining the respect of comedians that have been doing it 20+ years; Ryan proved that the amount of stand-up comedy success that he saw in such a short period of time was not a fluke. Due to his success as a viral internet star, Ryan no longer is an opening act. Though he is known more for his online videos, Ryan isn't like the other internet comedians. He is a duel threat that is the first of his kind. http://www.whoisryandavis.com/

Ben Miner was destined to be a comedian. Starting in Ottawa he worked on the Tom Green Show, and has since surrounded himself around trend setting comedians until finally becoming one himself. Ben’s comedy sounds like your funny best friend telling you why food is funny and he’s usually right or at least starting a conversation the whole room can agree on and laugh about.
Austin Wood is a comedian and host of DMV Sports Talk. You may also recognize him from the Tom Green Show. Brother Chris checks in from Nebraska, and B-Bag spits a wicked freestyle.
