Howard Wu, CEO of Provable and Shield Wallet, makes the case that full, on-chain transparency was never a design principle—it was a limitation that mainstream finance cannot build on. He draws a direct line from the internet's switch from HTTP to HTTPS to where crypto needs to go next, and argues that the biggest obstacle to private stablecoins isn't the technology. Instead, it's the assumption that compliance and privacy are fundamentally at odds. Key Takeaways: Why on-chain transparency creates broken user journeys for everyday payments, payroll, and institutional trading How zero-knowledge proofs enable compliance without risk of traditional KYC data collection What distinguishes the Shield Wallet's approach to privacy from that of a standard crypto wallet What Howard predicts will be mainstream by 2030 that almost no one in the industry is building for today Guest Bio: Howard Wu is the CEO of Provable and Shield Wallet. He's also a founder of the Layer-1 blockchain, Aleo. His contributions to zero-knowledge proofs and elliptic-curve cryptography have been adopted across the industry, including by protocols such as Ethereum and Zcash. Howard graduated from UC Berkeley with a research background in cryptography, computer security, and verifiable computing. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About this Show: The Brave Technologist is here to shed light on the opportunities and challenges of emerging tech. What if the secret to a better milk coffee was changing the milk itself? World Barista Champion Anthony Douglas is back to show us how freezing, freeze-drying and blending can turn an everyday ingredient into something that tastes like melted ice cream. We break down three ways to level up your milk: freeze distillation, cryodesiccation and milk blending. Anthony explains what each method brings to the cup, which coffees work best and how to try these techniques at home or put them into café service. We get into sweetness, texture, supermarket milk powder and why more concentrated doesn't always mean better. Then we taste regular milk and freeze-distilled milk side by side. Think grape bubblegum, butterscotch and a very convincing reason to make some room in your freezer. Plus, Condesa Co.Lab joins us with the weekly green coffee market report. In unserer aktuellen Podcast-Folge vom 13.

In this episode, I talk with Ida, the founder of Tøllefsenhjørnet in Tromsø, about her journey from working in some of Norway's pioneering coffee shops to opening her own coffee shop and natural wine bar. Ida shares stories from her years at Tim Wendelboe, where she eventually became wholesale manager, and how her experience in specialty coffee shaped the way she approached her own business. We discuss her decision to return to Tromsø, reconnect with her family roots, and revive the building where her great-grandfather and grandfather once ran Tøllefsen Kolonial. Starting the business came with significant financial and personal challenges, from renovating the space on a tight budget to surviving the difficult first year. Ida talks about the changes that helped turn the business around, including longer opening hours, introducing simple food options, and her homemade pumpkin spice latte syrup. We also discuss the realities of running a coffee shop in Norway, where high labor costs make profitability particularly challenging. Despite the challenges, Ida has built a strong team and a welcoming place where coffee, wine, and community come together. Music by my uncle, Jens Wendelboe.

Every great franchise starts with one person who refused to settle for 'pwede na (it's okay).' That's the story of Kim Rivera. Before FlatWhite became a name you see across Laguna and Batangas, Kim was working overseas — pulling shots and learning the craft inside one of the world's biggest coffee chains. But somewhere between the long shifts and the foreign cities, a thought kept tugging at him: why not bring this back home? So he did. Kim returned to Batangas with more than just barista skills — he came home with a vision. FlatWhite was built to give Filipinos a coffee experience that felt personal, local, and worth being proud of.

re cafes still the place where community happens, or have laptops, rising costs and grab-and-go culture completely changed the role they play? Rohan Cooke and Ben Bicknell unpack the idea of the “third place”, the space between home and work where people can gather, connect and feel like they belong. From regulars and barista-led connection to run clubs, book clubs, no-laptop venues and day-to-night models, we explore what cafe community looks like in 2026. Why is the traditional third-place model becoming harder to sustain? Can someone working silently on a laptop really be part of a community? And how can cafes create genuine belonging without letting customers occupy a table for six hours on one coffee? We also discuss why the experience surrounding a cup of coffee might be specialty coffee's strongest defence against convenience. Alex Temiz turned a $2,000 account into over $16 million in trading profits, starting from nothing as a part-time Starbucks barista. In this episode, he breaks down the real journey: the years of losing, how he transitioned from long breakouts to short selling, and the mechanical "guardrails" he used to survive long enough to succeed. After selling the rims off his car just to fund one last attempt at the markets, Alex discovered his edge in the volatility of momentum exhaustion. Today, his approach is built on extreme transparency and a deep respect for risk management, specifically through his "First Red Day" framework. In this conversation, Alex pulls back the curtain on his evolution from an aggressive gunslinger to a disciplined professional, sharing the psychological shifts and specific setups that allowed him to scale from four figures to eight figures. In this episode, we explore:·        How Alex Turned $2,000 into $16M+ in Trading Profits·        His transition from working as a Starbucks barista to full-time trading·        The mechanics of the First Red Day strategy·        Why he ignores his "average" to focus on adding to winning trades·        Using broker-level guardrails to protect yourself from ego-driven losses·        How Alex selects the stocks he shorts ·        His advice for traders struggling with the psychological pain of risk About Alex Temiz:Alex is a professional short-seller and the co-founder of My Investing Club (MIC). Known for his "First Red Day" setup and high-stakes momentum trading, Alex has documented over $16 million in verified profits. He is a vocal advocate for transparency in the trading industry, frequently sharing live trading recaps to help retail traders develop a process-driven approach to the markets.
