If you've ever felt stuck in a job that looks good on paper but doesn't feel right for you, this episode is for you. Today we are talking about career switching and how to actually change your career to a job that's more aligned to you. Growing up, I was told that you should pick a career and stick to it but the world of work has changed and so has the way we see our careers/jobs. I'm joined by Priya Raj, a fashion and lifestyle journalist who has written for Vogue India and worked at Business Insider and The Telegraph among other big global publications. Both me and Priya started our careers in Finance and in our 20s realised that it wasn't what we wanted to do for the rest of our lives so we decided to change. It wasn't easy to start a new career in our 20s, but in this episode we are going to share how we did it, what motivated us to take that leap, how we keep our imposter syndrome in check and whether or not we regret it. So if you are someone who's struggling with their career or having a little bit of a career crisis and don't know what to do- then this is the episode for you! In the episode: 00:00:00 Intro00:01:37 Why did we start working in Finance? 00:05:29 What made us want to change careers? 00:12:27 Mental Health at work 00:14:07 How have careers changed in 2026?00:15:23 The rise of portfolio careers00:16:14 How to change your career- practical steps00:17:41 Priya's journey to writing for Vogue India00:20:42 Balancing working in Finance and Fashion 00:21:37 Dealing with imposter syndrome 00:23:10 Career switching internally in tech 00:27:55 The importance of good co-workers00:30:38 Dealing with rejection00:31:12 How to build confidence in a new career00:34:24 Telling family about being a journalist 00:37:46 Priya's experience on BBC News 00:40:16 Corporate 9-5 to creative career 00:44:58 How to reach out to journalists to pitch your brand?00:48:40 What is a press release?Don't forget to follow or subscribe to It's Preeti Personal and leave a 5★ review as it helps other South Asian girls find the podcast and feel a little less alone

For many clinicians, the traditional pathways of healthcare offer purpose and stability, but they can also feel restrictive, misaligned with evolving identities, or incompatible with a life that values adventure, education, and time outside conventional systems. Changing direction within or adjacent to healthcare is rarely a single leap; more often, it is a series of deliberate steps shaped by curiosity, burnout, growth, and a desire for sustainability. In this conversation, Laura Hall and Kelly Wright bring their lived experiences to bear on that reality. Laura is currently a pre- and post-op nurse in a small Colorado town, a wilderness medicine instructor, and a trail-running coach who has built a career around adaptability, education, and performance in demanding environments. Kelly is a flight nurse and endurance athlete whose professional journey reflects both the physical toll and the profound privilege of high-acuity care. Together, they are the voices behind High Adventure Healthcare, a platform dedicated to honest discussion, education, and redefining what a healthcare career can look like. This episode explores what it really means to change course, without abandoning hard-earned skills or identity. It is a grounded, practical discussion about fear, flexibility, reinvention, and how clinicians can build careers that support both longevity and life beyond the uniform. Why This Episode Is a Must-Watch Are you ready for the seismic changes transforming the workplace? If you're seeing headlines about "AI reshaping jobs" or "the rise of the portfolio career," but wondering how to actually navigate these trends, this episode of Inspired Money is your roadmap. We assembled a panel of top experts, authors, analysts, and entrepreneurs, who share practical strategies to help you future-proof your career, build resilience, and find meaningful work in a rapidly evolving professional world.  Meet the Expert Panelists Pamela Slim is an award-winning author, speaker, and CEO of The Pamela Slim Agency, where she helps business owners scale their businesses and intellectual property through productized services, certifications, and licensing programs. She is the author of Escape from Cubicle Nation, Body of Work, and The Widest Net, the latter of which won Porchlight's Best Sales and Marketing Book of 2021. https://pamelaslim.com Charlene Li is a renowned author, analyst, and entrepreneur who has been at the forefront of major technological transformations for the past three decades, helping organizations thrive through disruption. As the founder of Altimeter Group and author of six books, including "The Disruption Mindset" and "Winning with Generative AI," she provides strategic insights on leadership, customer experience, and the future of work. https://charleneli.com Elaine Pofeldt is an award-winning journalist and author of The Million-Dollar, One-Person Business, where she documents how solopreneurs are building highly profitable companies without employees. Her reporting for Forbes, Fortune, and Inc. has made her a leading voice on independent work, scalable solo businesses, and the future of entrepreneurship. https://www.elainepofeldt.com Key Highlights: 1. Build a Resilient 'Skill Stack' Today, career security isn't tied to a single job title. Pamela Slim advocates for building a "body of work" by identifying your anchor skill and layering in complementary skills for adaptability. She encourages professionals to find the connecting thread in their diverse experiences and to "codify your unique genius" through what she calls the "thumbprint method," ultimately scaling your impact and income. 2. Partner With AI: Don't Fight It According to Charlene Li, AI isn't here to replace you—it's here to assist. Her "90-day AI Blueprint" helps professionals apply AI to their biggest goals, not just tasks. She shares, "Start with the biggest, most important goals that you have and then apply AI to it," emphasizing that upskilling is continuous and should focus on both technical and timeless human strengths. 3. Scale Smarter, Not Just Bigger Elaine Pofeldt points out that the million-dollar solo entrepreneurs she profiles excel by streamlining, outsourcing, and leveraging tech—not by working around the clock. She underscores that strong systems, clear focus, and building genuine human connections ("the greatest efficiency") are the ultimate productivity boosters. Her practical advice: "Pare down what you need to do and outsource or automate the rest." 4. Align Work With Your Values and Build Your Own Safety Net The panelists agree: Authenticity and alignment aren't buzzwords. They are strategies for resilience. Burnout happens when your values and your work clash. In today's post-corporate landscape, your security comes from the systems you build... emergency funds, insurance, retirement plans, and your ability to adapt. Call-to-Action Here's one thing you can to do this week. Take 30 minutes and do a simple audit of your career. Write down your anchor skill, the thing that reliably creates value today. Then list two or three adjacent skills, tools, or interests you could develop to increase your optionality, whether that's learning to use AI more effectively, productizing part of what you do, or exploring a side project you've been putting off. You don't have to act on all of it. Just name it. Clarity is the first step to momentum. Find the Inspired Money channel on YouTube or listen to Inspired Money in your favorite podcast player. There's something appealing about taking a test that promises clear answers about who you are and what you should do next. That appeal is also the problem. When you rely on just one assessment, it's easy to treat the results as the definitive answer. You think, "This is who I am. Now I need to find the career that matches." That kind of tunnel vision is exactly why Sarah uses multiple assessments with clients.Every assessment is a tool. It can be valuable and provide insight. But being useful and being something you should govern your career decisions on are two different things. Using multiple assessments means you can see patterns and themes that are more reliable than any single result.Assessments Sarah Uses:Values in Action (VIA) Chestnut Paes Sullivan (CPS) Enneagram CompassGallup CliftonStrengths Assessment (formerly StrengthsFinder)See show notes at formerlawyer.com/295

Most people who are thinking about leaving the law spend a long time in a familiar place. They know their job feels awful, they say it to themselves and to other people, and they imagine how much better things could be somewhere else. But imagining you'd like to leave is not the same thing as deciding that you want to. That shift sounds simple, but it's tied up in identity, prestige, sunk costs, and everything you've been taught about what it means to be successful. It's the first real hurdle for a lot of lawyers, and one that's easy to avoid.See show notes at formerlawyer.com/291

This week of TMD Tez and Sarah are joined by Tez's dear friend — actress, filmmaker, and mama of three — Tahyna Macmanus, along with her friend and colleague - the beautiful twin mama Pippy Pomeranz.  We dive into Tahyna's powerful and healing documentary The Misunderstandings of Miscarriage, now available worldwide. It's a deeply cathartic film that opens up the conversation around pregnancy loss and reminds us we're never truly alone in our grief. Pippy shares her incredibly moving story of losing her twins via surrogate in the second trimester, and the emotional journey that followed as she welcomed her rainbow twin babies. Tahyna and Tez also chat about their early days in Hollywood, living together in LA, and Tahyna's inspiring shift from in front of the camera to behind it as a prolific filmmaker. You're in for an honest, vulnerable, and deeply connective episode — full of shared stories, strength, and the healing power of community. This episode is proudly sponsored by StoryWorth!
