Many believers want to pray more but struggle to fit prayer into already full lives. In this episode, we explore the difference between having prayer time and living prayerful lives.Introducing Life Rhythm Prayer, this conversation reframes prayer not as something we squeeze into our schedules, but as a posture we carry throughout the day. Rooted in the biblical call to “pray without ceasing,” Life Rhythm Prayer invites us to pause, acknowledge God, and invite the Spirit into ordinary moments like work, conversations, decisions, and daily routines. This episode introduces the heart behind Life Rhythm Prayer and invites listeners to consider what it looks like to carry God-consciousness into the everyday rhythms of life.
What if the space between Christmas and New Year is not something to rush past, but an invitation to slow down, breathe, and listen? In this online only service, Church on the Rock pauses the noise and the pressure to remind us why Christmas is still merry even when life feels complicated. The story of Jesus was never polished or easy. It was filled with obedience, disruption, loss, fear, and hope colliding in real human lives. And yet, right in the middle of all that tension, Jesus entered the world as the greatest gift we could ever receive. This message connects Christmas to Easter and reminds us that our hope is not rooted in circumstances, but in a Savior who conquered sin, death, and the grave. As we stand on the edge of a new year, this message calls us into a posture of surrender and trust, praying like David, God teach me to do Your will and lead me forward. It challenges us to think differently about 2026 by leaning into spiritual rhythms, community, serving, generosity, and investing in the next generation. Whether you are tired, hopeful, uncertain, or ready for a fresh start, this service invites you to start the year with your yes on the table and your roots planted deep in God, believing that when our trust is in Him, we can flourish in every season. Welcome to Part 26 of our Joseph Smith Podcast series! In this episode, we continue our deep dive into Chapter 22 of John Turner's new biography, Joseph Smith: The Rise and Fall of an American Prophet, as the story moves to the founding of Nauvoo, Illinois in 1840 –a fresh start for the Latter-day Saints and a turning point in Joseph Smith's theology and authority. We explore the emergence of baptism for the dead, one of the most distinctive doctrines introduced in Nauvoo, and how Joseph Smith framed proxy ordinances as answers to grief, death, and eternal family bonds. From New Testament passages to Adam Clarke's biblical commentary, we examine how this doctrine developed, why the Saints embraced it so enthusiastically, and how it eventually became tied to the temple. This episode also covers the doctrine of re-baptism, a ritual that allowed faithful members to recommit repeatedly, and what this reveals about early Mormon ideas of salvation, renewal, and belonging. We also introduce one of the most controversial figures of the Nauvoo period: John C. Bennett –a charismatic leader with a scandalous past whose rise and fall would have lasting consequences for Nauvoo, Joseph Smith, and the Church's political and legal standing.Along the way, we discuss Nauvoo's utopian hopes, strange theological ideas, spiritual experimentation, the growing power of the Nauvoo militia (and Joseph Smith), and the seeds of opposition that will eventually lead to Joseph Smith's death. Join us in the next episode for our discussion on Polygamy! Please purchase the book here.To support this series please donate here. One half of all donations will go to Dr. Turner for as long as he is participating in the series.___________________YouTubeAt Mormon Stories we explore, celebrate, and challenge Mormon culture through in-depth stories told by members and former members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints as well as scholars, authors, LDS apologists, and other professionals. On Sunday, December 28, we won't gather at the Dallas Campus for our usual services—but church is still on. Church at Home Sunday is your chance to slow down, gather your people, start the new year prayerfully, and get a taste of what church was like in the early first-century Church. In the video below, you will be guided through Watermark's 10 markers and be given time to reflect with your group on each. We're expectant for all God has ahead in 2026! Let's finish the year thankful, open-handed, and ready for what's next.
A kinsman of the Apostle Paul, the Holy Stephen was one of the seven deacons (with Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas and Nicolas) first appointed by the Church to minister to the people; and it pleased God to receive him as the Church's first Martyr for Christ. Read the long, beautiful and edifying account of his witness in the Acts of the Apostles, chapters 6-8. When Stephen, "full of faith and power, did great wonders and miracles among the people," (Acts 6:8), some members of a synagogue in Jerusalem came to dispute with him and, enraged by his proclamation of Christ, stoned him to death. In his death St Stephen revealed Christ's erasure of the boundary between heaven and earth, and the new communion between man and God: his face shone with the light of the Transfiguration, and he was granted a vision of Christ enthroned at the Father's right hand. His dying words were "Lord, lay not this sin to their charge" (Acts 7:60). According to holy tradition, the martyrdom of St Stephen occurred exactly a year after the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. His body was taken and secretly buried by Gamaliel, a member of the Sanhendrin and secretly a Christian. Saint Stephen's relics were discovered by the priest Lucian in 415 following a vision. They were translated to the church built for them in Jerusalem by the Empress Eudocia, and later taken to Constantinople. The Saint's missionary speech before his death (like that of the deacon St Philip to the Ethiopian eunuch) reminds us that those appointed to serve the Church materially are not barred, or even excused, from proclaiming the glorious Gospel of Christ.

Friends of the Rosary,Yesterday, we honored St. Stephen, who by his words and by laying down his life for his faith, bore witness to Christ. Today, December 27, we receive the testimony of John, Apostle and Evangelist (d. 101).The Church celebrates the Feast of this Galilean fisherman born in Bethsaida, son of Zebedee and Salome, and brother to St. James the Greater, who became the beloved disciple of Jesus.John and James were called by Jesus to be disciples as they were mending their nets by the Sea of Galilee. The pure and spiritual life of John kept him very close to Jesus and Mary, resting on the Master's breast at the Last Supper and being filled with divine wisdom. He wrote the fourth Gospel (about sixty-three years after the Ascension of Christ), three Epistles, and an excellent and mysterious Book of the Apocalypse or Revelation.John is the evangelist of the divinity and fraternal love of Christ. With James, his brother, and Simon Peter, he was one of the witnesses of the Transfiguration. He was permitted to witness His agony in the Garden. At the foot of the cross, Jesus entrusted His Mother to his care as He hung dying on the Cross.St. John was the only one of the Apostles who did not forsake the Savior in the hour of His Passion and Death. He was brought to Rome and, according to tradition, cast into a caldron of boiling oil by Emperor Domitian's order, but he was miraculously preserved unhurt. He was later exiled to the Island of Patmos, where he wrote the Apocalypse. In his extreme old age, he continued to visit the churches of Asia. Every time he preached, he said: "My dear children, love one another."St. John died in peace at about ninety-four years old at Ephesus in the hundredth year of the Christian era, or the sixty-sixth from the crucifixion of Christ.Ave MariaCome, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkNew Upgrade! The Hidden Moment That Changed the World The Homily centers on the Annunciation (Luke 1:26–38) as the hidden . . . . . . yet decisive turning point of human history. Though proclaimed quietly to a single listener . . . Mary . . . it is an announcement of universal significance: the Word takes flesh. The Homily emphasizes how God's greatest act enters the world not through spectacle, but through humility, attentiveness, and consent. An Event Hidden from the World Yet Thunderous with Eternity Mary is portrayed as the one who is already listening when heaven speaks. Gabriel's greeting . . . “Hail, full of grace” . . . reveals her true identity, known fully only by God. Troubled but attentive, Mary questions not from doubt but from reverent understanding. When she says, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord,” her obedience allows the ineffable, eternal Word to become incarnate within her. The Homily also highlights the paradox of the Annunciation: an event hidden from the world yet thunderous with eternity, a public salvation accomplished in private obedience. Mary becomes the living “book” in whom the unspeakable Word is written. The Church, contemplating this mystery especially in Advent as it prepares for Christmas, and asks for the grace to imitate her humility, attentiveness, and surrender to God's will. Note how remarkable this is!!! Now this is Our Lady speaking to heaven . . . She says, behold and now Our Lady speaks her own truth, her understanding of the truth that heaven has given her. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Art Work The Annunciation.: Netherland Painter: Robert Campin: 1422 ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Why was this image selected: This work places the Annunciation within the texture of daily life, emphasizing the “fullness of time” arriving quietly in a domestic setting. It visually expresses the theological claim that God enters history not through power, but through grace-filled obedience. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Gospel Reading: Luke 1: 26-38 First Reading: Isaiah 7: 10-14

Welcome to The Daily, where we study the Bible verse by verse, chapter by chapter, every day. Read more about Project23 and partner with us as we teach every verse of the Bible on video. Our text today is Judges 18:30-31. And the people of Dan set up the carved image for themselves, and Jonathan the son of Gershom, son of Moses, and his sons were priests to the tribe of the Danites until the day of the captivity of the land. So they set up Micah's carved image that he made, as long as the house of God was at Shiloh. — Judges 18:30-31 The tribe of Dan ends their story with idols, not inheritance. They set up a fake priesthood, a false religion, and call it "faith." It looked spiritual—but it was hollow. Everything they built was founded on force, not faith; ritual, not repentance. What began as one man's compromise became a tribe's tradition—and a nation's decay. And that's exactly where we stand today. We've kept the symbols of faith but lost the substance. We sing about Jesus but live as if His Word no longer defines truth. We've traded repentance for relevance and holiness for acceptance. The signs are flashing, and time is running short. Our culture isn't collapsing because evil is stronger—it's collapsing because truth is weaker. The light has dimmed. The Church has grown quiet. We've learned to tolerate what we should confront and bless what we should repent of. But this is not the time to coast. It's time to come back. Not next year. Not after things "settle down." Now. Because a nation that forgets God doesn't lose Him overnight—it loses Him one compromise at a time. The tribe of Dan thought they secured their future, but they only secured their judgment. And if we keep drifting from the truth, we'll do the same. God is calling His people. It's time to return to the Lord while there's still time. ASK THIS: What signs of drift do you see in your own heart or church? How can you personally help call others back to truth? What step of repentance could you take today? DO THIS: Pray daily this week for revival—in your heart, home, and church. Speak truth where others have grown silent. PRAY THIS: Lord, wake us up. Stir Your people to repent, return, and rebuild on truth. Let revival start in me—and spread before it's too late. Amen. PLAY THIS: "Revive Us Again."

Everything you wanted to know about 1st Century Palestine, but were afraid to ask… The New Testament in Its World: An Introduction to the History, Literature, and Theology of the First Christians By: N. T. Wright and Michael F. Bird Published: 2019 992 Pages Briefly, what is this book about? An deep dive on the New Testament covering (as the subtitle suggests) the history: Second Temple Judaism against a Greco-Roman background; the literature: the New Testament's genesis, structure, authors and audience; and theology: the religious claims of the book, the doctrine, miracles, and contentions. What's the author's angle? Despite me saying that this is a deep dive, it is also something of a sampler for Wright's other, even more expansive books. Also it's important to note that Wright is very much a believing Christian and while the book is exceptionally scholarly, it's also backgrounded by the idea that Jesus Christ is the Messiah who died for the sins of the world and was gloriously resurrected. Who should read this book? This is a long book, and I ended up deciding to read it, rather than listen to it. As such, it honestly took me several months to get through, so you should certainly take that into account. This should not be construed as saying the book is difficult. It's very accessible, and reads easily. I will say that I learned a lot, but I'm not sure that will be true for everyone. Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) don't generally focus on straight down the line Bible scholarship. To the extent that we do deep scholarship in this area it's in search of parallels between early Christianity and LDS Christianity. (For example in 1 Corinthians 15:29 when Paul mentions baptisms for the dead. Something no major denomination does, other than us.) This is all to say that I think LDS individuals might find this book particularly enjoyable, as being somewhat outside of our normal wheelhouse. Specific thoughts: It's both shocking how much New Testament we have and how little we have of everything else

This sermon for The Feast of the Holy Innocents (December 28) proclaims the comforting and challenging truth that God's victory is often hidden beneath suffering. https://youtu.be/sGtmnrrv7TgPreached from Matthew 2:16–18 and Revelation 14:1, this message confronts the brutal reality of Herod's massacre while faithfully confessing Christ crucified and risen. The Holy Innocents remind us that the Church does not conquer by strength, visibility, or success, but by the blood of the Lamb. From a confessional Lutheran (LCMS) perspective, this sermon clearly distinguishes Law and Gospel. The Law exposes the murderous hostility of the sinful world toward Christ and His kingdom. The Gospel proclaims that even death cannot undo God's promises, for the Lamb who was slain now reigns. These children, though voiceless, stand among the redeemed, marked by Christ and gathered into His victory. This sermon is especially for those wrestling with grief, suffering, persecution, and unanswered questions. It offers no shallow comfort—only Christ, who enters our suffering and redeems it through His cross. Here the Church learns to see rightly: God's kingdom is present, victorious, and sure, even when hidden.Support this ministry:
2025 tested a lot of people. Not everything survived — and that doesn't mean you failed. In this end-of-year episode, Pastor Joe Moss slows the pace and asks a sacred question most people avoid:What survived the year? This is not a motivational talk. It's a reflective, faith-centered message for anyone who:• carried more than they expected• lost things they didn't plan to lose• wrestled privately with God• stayed when quitting would've been easier• feels changed by the year — but can't fully explain howThrough Scripture and story, this episode walks through:• pressure that refined rather than destroyed• holy loss and what didn't survive on purpose• the wrestle that reshaped identity• the limp that marked dependence on God• the core of faith that remains• and how God carries us forward into what's next
