Every January, people make resolutions to lose weight, earn more money, sleep more hours, travel to distant lands, and spend more time with loved ones. By the beginning of April, most of those great intentions have been long forgotten in the fast paced existence we call life. Although statistics indicate that it only takes 30 days to drop an old habit or learn a new one, most of us just don’t stick with our plans long enough to reap any benefits. January, the month of winter sleep, offers gardeners the opportunity to dream, to plan, and to imagine. There is not much work to be done in our yards, but we can still begin to chart the days ahead so that we’ll be able to share the bounty from our efforts. Be renewed by nature. Who can’t use more inner peace in the new year? Learn to be calmer and more present with a few mindfulness tips that at free and at your disposal from meditating to moon gazing!

Every January we pause our study to take some time and return to some foundational issues. We call this annual series, Foundations. This year, the next section in 1 Timothy lines up with what I want to cover in the Foundations series and so we will kill two birds with one stone as it were. We will continue our study in 1 Timothy as it covers some important foundational aspects of the church. This next section in 1 Timothy covers the leadership of a church. We believe that God has ordained two specific offices in the church: pastor and deacon. But who is to fill these offices? Does God give us a list of what we ought to expect from those who are in these offices. The answer is “yes.” Over the next several weeks we will look at what God tells us about this in 1 Timothy. When we think of leadership in a church, we immediately think of the office of pastor. But what is a pastor to be? Who should be a pastor? What expectations should we have of the pastor? There are a lot of views about this in the church today. Some churches believe that the pastor must have extensive advanced education. They will not consider a man for the pastorate without advanced degrees. Other churches believe that formal training is a waste of time. All the man needs is a love for people and he is good. He don’t need no edumication. Are there some things we ought to expect regarding his marriage status? Some churches believe a man should be married, the Roman Catholic church requires that its priests be unmarried. Are there some things we should expect regarding ability, personality, beliefs, and so on? Can just anyone be a pastor? Or should we be picky? And how do we know if someone should be a pastor?Too many churches have not thought deeply about these questions. As a result, many pulpits in this country are filled by unqualified men who have no business being in the ministry. Too many churches are just happy that someone would be willing to be the pastor. This is a sad thing and has done immense damage to those churches and the lives of their members. Over the next two weeks, we will seek to answer the question, “What is a pastor to be?” As your pastor, what standard are you to hold me to? If tomorrow I get run over by a rogue Amish buggy and God calls me home, what are you to look for in the next guy? As we look to expand our staff, what are we looking for? What is a pastor to be?

Ah, the new year. Every January seems to be the perfect time to focus on a fresh start. It’s a time to take a look at bad habits we’d like to break and good habits we’d like to develop. Many of us make (and a few of us keep) New Year’s resolutions. This New Year hits different. As we usher in 2021, it seems to be less “New Year, New Me” thing and more “New Year, New Circumstances”. Still, there may be room for working on ourselves. For a lot of us, the stress and uncertainty of 2020 left us with some habits we’d like to break. For others, we know more than ever what it’s like to dig deep, grit our teeth, and accomplish the seemingly impossible. Is there a difference between where you are now and where you’d like to see yourself? You might already know what steps you need to take to get there. Sometimes, it’s just a matter of making a plan and sticking to it. Other times, there’s a little more to it. Today, the public sector is ill-equipped to deal with urgent global challenges, while the private sector has plenty of capital but faces an uncertain future. In today’s episode, Jeff discusses the potential of “uncommon coalitions” between the two with Tomicah Tillemann and Dante Dispartae. Tomicah, executive director of the Digital Impact and Governance Initiative at New America, and Dante, head of policy at the Libra Foundation, cite vaccination and transit improvements as strong examples of public-private partnerships. As challenging as they can be to implement, the two say, they’re often the only effective solutions to pressing global issues.  Join them for an in-depth look at how these strategic partnerships can promote a more sustainable future, stable business environments and greater diversity in leadership.

As part of our “Davos Talks, 2020 ” series, Jeffrey Saviano is bringing us 6 episodes from and inspired by his time in Davos.  As new technologies become widely adopted, they’re still controlled by small - and often, biased - groups of stakeholders. In this episode, Jeff talks with Dante Disparte, head of policy at the Libra Foundation, who wants to turn that model on its head.  Dante has spent much of his career improving institutional risk, readiness, and resilience. In his leadership role at the Libra Foundation, Dante promotes an open infrastructure of collaborative fintech platforms to bring more people into the formal economy. This collaboration - the best of the public and private sectors, and civil society - calls for uncommon coalitions to democratize the power of emerging technologies, such as blockchain and artificial intelligence. Join Jeff and Dante as they explore how this ecosystem approach to technology development and governance can fundamentally change the way that emerging technology shapes our world.

Tomicah explains how collaborative open-source platforms can help the public sector effectively administer taxes, better allocate resources, and fight corruption. Stephen Dorril - senior lecturer in journalism at Huddersfield University (UK) whom specializes in researching the activities of British Military Intelligence was contacted by the wife of a deceased MI6 Agent (the Wife died in 2014). The Agent - Peter Hornsby was Lead Editor of the MI6 covertly funded Magazine: Flamingo (1961 - 1965) It deliberately targeted, the new influx of Black People from the then British Colonies in The Caribbean & West Africa. MI6 feared the ideology of Communism that was going throughout The Third World would arrive in the UK via the new immigration into the nation which was required after the devastation of World War 2 to the infrastructure & public sector, so the magazine was designed as a means to cleverly attack Communism by promoting Anglo – American values. Geopolitical articles within the magazine where of a serious nature near identical to media releases from the British Foreign Office's semi-secret Information Research Department. Also, revealed by Dorril was numerous Community Centres throughout London that serviced the mentioned new intake Afro – Caribbean Community where funded by C.I.A fronts in the form of 'charitable foundations' with the aim of identifying potential threats along with recruitment of new operatives. These Community Centres where also found in the major cities throughout the UK (Bristol, Birmingham, Manchester, Liverpool, Sheffield & Leeds) therefore was this C.I.A / MI6 Network even more extensive ? The revealing of this by Stephen Dorril – an academic along with author of numerous books on British Military Intelligence is important yet also worrying as it proves the covert manipulation of The Black Population of Britain. Therefore, has this continued in various ways such as elevating carefully chosen individuals from The British Black Community within Pop Culture (Music, Acting, Television Presenting & Journalism) with the counter narrative being individuals WITH talent that are deemed to not being able to be turned or having honour values being prevented from having opportunities ? If, this is the case then the UK is more tightly controlled than East Germany during the Cold War. The following is NOT saying that Kevin Spacey is involved in illegal activities. On, Christmas Eve 2019 (Tuesday 24th December 2019) via his official YouTube Channel – the two time Oscar® Winning Actor: Kevin Spacey released a video titled: “KTWK” (Kill Them with Kindness is the full meaning) This 59 second video performed as the fictional character: “President Frank Underwood” from Netflix Series - "House of Cards” was a follow – up to a previous YouTube video titled: “Let Me Be Frank” As, with “KTWK”, the earlier YouTube video was released by Spacey on Christmas Eve 2018 (Monday 24th December 2018). What, makes “KTWK” different is 24hrs later on Christmas Day 2019 (Wednesday 25th December 2019) in the rural Norwegian Community of Lommedalen (40 minutes drive west of the capital Oslo) - Ari Behn committed suicide. In December 2017, Behn said that Spacey had groped his genitals in 2007 during the V.I.P after - party for the Nobel Peace Prize held in Oslo. Why, this go global attention was at the time of the incident Behn was married to Princess Märtha Louise of Norway whom is 4th in line to the Norwegian Throne & 26th in line to the British Throne. On, Sunday 29th December 2019 – the respected Pop Culture expert & author Christopher Knowles published a blog entry regrading Spacey titled: “Kevin Spacey, Super-Villain at Large” This article inspired me to look at the roles Spacey has played particularly focusing on Films. A significant amount of roles are characters that play Professional Criminals some having superior intelligence... “Keyser Söze” - “John Doe” - “Lex Luthor” - “Doc” - Turkish Crime Lord who operates a decades old international network. a serial killer bent on savagely punishing those who have committed the seven deadly sins bringing attention to evil in a world that he claims has accepted any & all types of immorality. billionaire industrialist that happens to be the arch – enemy of “Superman”. mysterious kingpin of an Atlanta (Georgia, USA ) based crime syndicate. What is strange is actors commonly leave roles that have popularity due to fearing they will be type – cast to the characteristics displayed in what made them popular. Yet, the work done by Kevin Spacey shows a deliberate choosing of master – criminals. The symbolism used in BOTH “Let Me Be Frank” & “KTWK” is fascinating from props such as specific Coffee Mugs to home ornaments to the emphasis placed by Spacey on specific words using the cadence of the fictional character - “President Frank Underwood”. In, September 2019 – an anonymous massage therapist who claimed to have been sexually assaulted by Spacey died, according to a notice filed in court by the actor's attorneys. The individual, suing as a "John Doe", filed claims in September 2018 with the allegation of being forced to grab the actor's genitals twice during a massage two years earlier at a private residence in Malibu. The combined etymology of “Roger 'Verbal' Kint” & “Keyser Söze” translates into contemporary English as... Famous Verbal King A rather apt description of Kevin Spacey. Katherine Keating is the 38yr old daughter of former Australian Prime Minister: Paul Keating (in office December 1991 – March 1996). You've likely have seen Katherine as the woman Prince Andrew is waving goodbye to in a very friendly manner at the then Manhattan Townhouse home of a certain Jeffery Epstein in December 2010. Whilst, Paul Keating was an overtly anti – British Royalty to such an extent he declared this in a famous February 1992 speech with Elizabeth The 2nd being in the audience at Sydney (Australia), his daughter is the complete opposite being a friend of Prince Andrew. Katherine is a New York Socialite to such an extent she attended the 2019 Halloween Party of the acclaimed Film Director - Todd Phillips. You might have enjoyed, Phillips most recent Film: “Joker”. Katherine attended the Party in fancy dress as that mentioned film main character: “Arthur Fleck” in full face – paint. Why, Katherine Keating has my attention is recent footage of her pleasant goodbye with Prince Andrew has her face blurred out. This doesn't need to occur as the incident happened along with footage & still photographs of others from that day being used yet NOT edited. In, a now difficult to locate video - Katherine Keating during her time working at The Huffington Post interviewed Ghislaine Maxwell that was made for Social Media. Ghislaine Maxwell ultimate ambition from my research was to be Chief Executive for an NGO given the role by The United Nations to protect marine biology of ALL International Waters. If, Ghislaine Maxwell was successful her TerraMar Project would have had Diplomatic Immunity which would have covered their compete fleet of Ships & Submarines along with Employees. As, international regulator of the world's International Waters – it would have given the TerraMar Project complete access to EVERY Dock yet Customs Enforcement would be banned from doing inspections. With, what has been revealed about Ghislaine Maxwell since the arrest of her former lover Jeffrey Epstein in July 2019 – we should all be thankful that she never obtain such levels of power including unrestricted international travel. Katherine Keating is part of a collective of selected individuals known as: The 21st Century Council. This is funded & part of The Berggruen Institute. Nicolas Berggruen identified firstly that Western Nations have populations that have realized the competing political elites care MORE for party ideology plus globalism than their socio-economic struggles. Secondly, Developing World Nations particularly China are too strict in the rule of their populations leading to a lack of creativity placing restrictions on GDP expansion. The 21st Century Council wish to use their expertise as individuals in the 25yr to 60yrs age range whom work in Politics to Pop Culture to advise nations on the best way of managing their populations. Every January, lots of people make New Year’s Resolutions and other goals. We hear lots of chatter about physical goals, but people rarely (ever?) talk about their mental health goals. People go for annual physical check-ups, but no one seems to talk about going for an annual mental health check-up. Why is it easier to talk about our physical health? People would rather talk about a colonoscopy than their decision to go to counseling! Steph and Beth think out loud by why we divide our mental health from our physical health when we have only one body. Full transcript and show notes here: https://dospod.us/e19

Every Haitian household, whether in a permanent home or under a tent, will be making, drinking, and sharing some Soup Joumou. It is a symbol of our strength... Haiti will survive! It is not a coincidence that "Soup Joumou" is consumed in every Haitian household all over the world on January 1st of every year. This symbol is the last symbol of unity and freedom we have left. We make Soup Joumou every New Year... We eat Soup Joumou every New Year... We share Soup Joumou every New Year... We do it EVERY JANUARY 1st of every New Year in order to remember our past, our struggle for FREEDOM, and our ongoing fight to remain free. What better way to celebrate the New Year than with the very soup that we were not allowed to drink as slaves? The most important New Year Celebration in Haitians history is New Year's Day, January 1, 1804. We fought for nearly thirteen years before this day so that we could initiate this symbol of freedom for ALL slaves ALL over the world. Before 1804, A Haitian slave was NOT allowed to touch Joumou, a delicious and aromatic pumpkin that was a favorite for her white French master. Haitian Slave Diet: He/She was to eat one ounce of salted meat or fish and one bottle of lemonade per day. When our ancestors finally kicked the French out of the island, The Party was on! We fought the French and we won! Place: Gonaives, Haiti Nickname: City of Independence Date: Sunday, January 1st 1804 On Sunday January 1, 1804, the Haitian slaves of yesterday started gathering at dawn at the "Place d'Armes de Gonaives". it was there that Jean Jacques Dessalines mounted the Autel de la Patrie to speak. He made his speach in Kreyol so everyone could understand him. "Liberte ou la Mort!" "Long live independence!" Jean Jacques Dessalines declared that Haitians would forever live free and die free. "Cannons were fired, church bells rung, people cheered, and, they say kettles of fragrant soup joumou perfumed the air, ready to be ladled up in a mass communion." Soup Joumou Tradition, Symbolism, or just a plain old habit? Lately, the consumption of soup joumou has become just an old habit for Haitians. It seams we have forgotten its true history and purpose. Soup Joumou - This soup was the touchstone of Haiti's fervent wish for peace and freedom Soup Joumou was a symbol of communion and brotherhood Perhaps we should re-attach the symbolism of independence to the oldest Haitian Tradition - a goold old bold of delicious soup joumou. Perhaps we should tell the story. Perhaps we should let the whole world know that we drink this soup on the first day of every year because once upon a time, we were NOT allowed to drink it. Perhaps we should let the whole world know that we are FREE and independent because once upon a time, we were not allowed to be FREE. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app

RADIOACTIVE Are you happy? Is life fun? Do you breathe in the moments of life, or are you discontented by the present as you pursue the future? Every January the gyms fill up, the diet programs kick in and people focus on annual plans. Goals of becoming healthier, fulfilling dreams, fixing broken relationships, and going for “the gold medal” are front and center. What if God could take us on a journey of discovery, showing us the power that is deep inside? What if we knew we were created RADIOACTIVE? What if we lived in every moment, compelled to action by an energy previously unknown?   Jesus shared an idea that often is overlooked, or even overcomplicated; he shared the power of love. He made love to be the greatest and most important of all human pursuits. He showed love as something beyond a discipline, or a behavior. He showed love as an energy, a force of God’s nature within every human heart. In RADIOACTIVE we will see the emphasis Jesus placed on this idea of love, it’s power and the profound impact it has on extensive happiness, living in every moment being fully alive.    TODAY’S EPISODE: WHERE WE HURT, WE HARDEN! WHERE WE HARDEN, WE BECOME UN-HAPPY!!   RESPONSES TO REJECTION I MUST BE THE PROBLEM. I’LL DO WHATEVER IT TAKES TO BE ACCEPTED. (ANXIOUS) I’LL NEVER TAKE A RISK AGAIN. (SHUT DOWN) I’LL NEVER LET PEOPLE HURT ME AGAIN. (AVOIDANT) I RAGE!   HAVE YOU EVER BEEN A FIRECRACKER-DUD TO OTHERS?   RADIOACTIVE COMES FROM TWO WORDS:  RADIO: Access or transmission of radiant energy, or in a radius ACTIVE: Compelled movement. EXPRESSING RADIANT ENERGY THROUGH ACTIVATIONS!   EPHESIANS 3:14-20 AMP [Paul prayed] I bow my knees [in reverence] before the Father [of our Lord Jesus Christ]... 16 May He grant you out of the riches of His glory, to be STRENGTHENED and SPIRITUALLY ENERGIZED with POWER through His Spirit IN YOUR INNER SELF, [indwelling your INNERMOST BEING and personality],17 so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through your faith. And may you, having been [DEEPLY] ROOTED and [SECURELY] GROUNDED in LOVE, 18 be fully capable of comprehending with all the saints (God’s people) the WIDTH and LENGTH and HEIGHT and DEPTH of His LOVE [FULLY EXPERIENCING that AMAZING, ENDLESS LOVE]; 19 and [that you may come] to know [practically, through PERSONAL EXPERIENCE] the LOVE OF CHRIST which far surpasses [mere] knowledge [without EXPERIENCE], 20 Now to Him who is ABLE TO [carry out His purpose and] DO SUPERABUNDANTLY MORE than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], ACCORDING TO HIS POWER that is AT WORK (GR – energeo = energy) WITHIN US… ROMANS 5:5 NKJV Now hope does not disappoint, because the LOVE of God has been POURED OUT IN OUR HEARTS by the HOLY SPIRIT who was given to us. 1 CORINTHIANS 13:3 NKJV And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but HAVE NOT LOVE, it PROFITS me nothing. 1 JOHN 4:16 NKJV And we have known and believed the LOVE that God has for us. GOD IS LOVE, and he who ABIDES IN LOVE abides in God, and God in him. EPHESIANS 3:20 AMP Now to Him who is ABLE TO [carry out His purpose and] DO SUPERABUNDANTLY MORE than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely BEYOND our greatest PRAYERS, HOPES, or DREAMS], ACCORDING TO HIS POWER that is AT WORK (GR – energeo = energy) WITHIN US… I PETER 3:8-11 NLT 8 Finally, all of you should be of one mind. Sympathize with each other. LOVE each other as brothers and sisters. Be TENDERHEARTED, and keep A HUMBLE ATTITUDE. 9 Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t retaliate with insults when people insult you. Instead, pay them back with a blessing. That is what God has called you to do, and he will bless you for it (NKJV – “you will INHERIT a BLESSING” // GR – “to PARTAKE of HAPPINESS”). 10 For the Scriptures say, “If you want to ENJOY LIFE
and SEE MANY HAPPY DAYS, keep your tongue from speaking evil and your lips from telling lies. 11 Turn away from evil and DO GOOD (GR – FEELING AWAKENED by what is JOYFUL and HAPPY). Search for peace, and work to maintain it.   WHERE WE HURT, WE HARDEN! WHERE WE HARDEN, WE BECOME UN-HAPPY!!   HAPPINESS IS NOT WHO OR WHAT WE CONTROL; IT IS ACTIVATING DIVINE ENERGY IN EVERY MOMENT!   CALL TO ACTION   Out of everything we talked about today, what is your ONE NEXT STEP that you need to take? Did you make any New Year's resolutions? Every January 1st many of us make resolutions to make some changes in our lives. Whether it be to change something significant in your relationship, spend more time with your significant other, or even something small like reading more, we all start off meaning well but we don't always follow through with making the changes we want to make. In fact, studies have shown that around 80% of New Year's resolutions fail by February. What is stopping us from making those changes and why do we hold ourselves back from change? What do you do if your partner isn’t on board for the change you desire? In today’s episode, we’re going to talk about the things that may be holding you back, so that you can move past them and become a beacon of strength, change, and integrity. Let’s get the year started off right, together. As always, I’m looking forward to your thoughts on this episode and what revelations and questions it creates for you. This is your host Neil Sattin. And...Happy New Year! Big things in store for you this year on Relationship Alive - some exciting new guests, and some return visits from some regular favorites here on the show. Has it ever happened to you that you’ve set an intention to grow, or change, but then - not followed through? For instance, if you’re like me, and not totally jaded, then perhaps you like to start the new year with reflecting on the past year and setting some intentions for the coming year. And while that can initially be inspiring, I think it can often be followed by a bit of dread. That dread can be accompanied by thoughts like “How do I make this year different from year’s past? Am I really capable?” - but, especially in the case of relationships, it can also be something like “All this change and inspiration sounds great to me - but what if my partner isn’t on board? What happens if I’m committed to all this change and growth, and they’re not?” So in today’s episode, we’re going to talk about the ways that this can be holding you back so that you can move past it and become a beacon of strength, change, and integrity - so that you can feel inspired within yourself, and in your relationship. Let’s get the year started off right, together.OK - let’s dive in.Growing in your relationship - creates a conundrum. What if your partner doesn’t want to come along for the ride? What if you grow in different directions? What if you find yourself in a place where your relationship doesn’t work for you anymore? This is actually kind of a big deal when you’re contemplating your own path and growth because if you don’t have actual answers to these questions, you could find yourself with a fearful part protecting you from actually making any changes. So when I asked, at the beginning, if you’ve ever experienced being excited about some potential change, only to have it not happen, this is a dynamic that’s often at play - the internal parts that can sabotage our best, inspired intentions. The obvious problem is that if you’re not actually committed to your growth, and truly taking action towards it, then things will truly not shift. You also don’t want to get caught in that cycle of getting excited about some new thing that you’ve learned, only to not even try to implement it because your partner might not be along for the ride. Or because as you see yourself shifting, changing, and growing - you’re not sure if you’ll even be compatible with your relationship anymore. See - it’s no wonder that these shifts and changes don’t come so easily, is it? In some respects, your relationship is what it is. It’s something we’ve talked about here on the show before - that the way things ARE is the product of how you and your partner are, in your lives, right now. If nothing changes then, well, nothing changes. You put the same ingredients in, you get the same ingredients out. And it’s natural to think that we’d WANT good change, right? But the truth is, that if change could mean that everything actually changes - well, that might not be so great. Often the reason that things are the way they are is that they serve some purpose in our lives. It may not be the greatest, most sustainable, most healthy purpose - but it is a purpose nonetheless. In some ways, I’m letting you off the hook for the way that things are. And, at the same time, hopefully, this is helping you get clear on WHY things are the way that they are. It’s really helpful to stop before you try to change anything, and to ask yourself - How is it serving me to have things be just the way that they are? What beliefs about myself does this allow me to perpetuate? What stability, or certainty, does it give me to have things just continue on as they are? If things were to actually change, what would I be afraid might happen? If you can get really honest with your answers to these questions, then you will have some help in taking things to the next level. Now it’s funny - I’ve talked about my communication guide here on the show quite a bit - because it has some helpful secrets for helping you connect with others around difficult topics. If you’ve downloaded and read the guide already, now would be a good time to re-read it, and to ask yourself how it applies to communicating with YOURSELF. Because some of those inner conversations can be challenging too! If you haven’t downloaded it yet, you can grab it at neilsattin.com/relate, or by texting the word RELATE to the number 33444 and following the instructions. Now what about that fear that I’ve mentioned a few times now. The fear that if we grow, that we’ll leave our partner behind. Or that they won’t be interested in us. Or...basically the fear that if we change, it might mean that our relationship ends. There are two important ways to think about this, that hopefully will help get you unstuck. The first is to be able to draw a distinction, for yourself, between KNOWING what you’d like to do, and/or change - and actually DOING it - taking action. Are you stuck in the knowing stage, without really doing much? I’m asking you this in all sincerity - because I’ve noticed that in myself at times, and because I often notice it in my clients. We KNOW what we SHOULD do - but do we actually make a choice and commit to doing it? No. So before you go down the road of saying, for instance, that you’ve already tried changing, and your partner ISN’T coming along for the ride - take a hard look at the evidence of what you’ve actually changed. Change your beliefs and your mindset, sure! And...have your actions changed? If they haven’t, then there’s still some work to be done. Now, how do we take on the fear, the ways that our fear of what change might do could be holding us back? Let’s get right to that. But first, I’m going to take a moment to talk about this week’s sponsor. I’ve found them to be REALLY useful over the past few weeks, and they have a special offer for you to try them out for yourself. So - how do we take on the fear that our growth is actually going to separate us from our partners?I don’t want to lie to you here. It’s possible. What I mean is, it’s possible that if you grow in a way that really resonates with you, and feels true to the essence of who you are, that there is a chance that your partner might not want to come along for the ride. And, if that happens, then you will have some decisions to make. But you’ll be able to make those decisions from a place of actually having grown, having embodied something new for yourself, and thus the WAY that you approach those conversations and decisions will be different than they would be right now, as you’re simply imagining what that would be like. And you have no way of knowing that until you actually do the growing, until you actually experience it, and see how it impacts you and the other people in your life. Now I don’t think that you should just grow without considering your partner. By all means, consider how your actions and growth impact the safety of your relationship, the agreements of your container, and make choices that feel like they’re in integrity. If it’s clear that this represents a shift, do your best to NOT go rogue - take time to check in with your partner about what you’d like, the choices that you’re making, and the vision that you have for yourself. You might also share with them some of the ways that you see this having a positive impact on them, and on your relationship. Because most people respond to change with their own fear. So recognize that you’re going to have to address that head-on in your conversation. That’s a bit of sidebar here, though. Because we’re talking about you and your growth. You and the way that you might be holding yourself back. And, as I said, there is a real possibility that your fear will come to pass. But - love is a strong thing. And if your growth is fueled by love, then my guess is that you’ll find that it only increases your capacity to show up in your relationship. To be more fully who you are, and to bring that to your partner. Can you do that and, at the same time, invite your partner into your world as it’s expanding? And can you give them the time and space to digest it, so that it’s not a now-or-nothing proposition - so they’re allowed to stretch into something new. To experience the discomfort of that and come back into balance. What is it about you that doesn’t trust your partner could do that? Talk to that part of yourself, and reassure them that you have chosen another human and that all humans have the capacity to grow, especially if it’s in ways that are ultimately positive for them. And, in the end...you need to take action. And then be ever-aware for what might happen next. Make connecting to your partner your priority in those moments, just like I was talking about back in episode 171 - because that will help them feel safe despite the tension that your growth might be creating. And I say *might* because you don’t really know until you try. It could be that your partner was, for some reason, just WAITING for you to take action. This dance, of each person holding back, waiting for the other to act, while living in competing fears - first that something either of you does will disconnect you, and second, that you’ll never get to grow and live the way that you want to - this dance is something that most of us do at some point, or at some points in our relationship. And it’s possible that if you’re not the one doing the growing in this moment, that your partner is actually doing some growing and wondering if YOU are going to come along for the ride. Wouldn’t that be an interesting thing to discover? So. Notice your fear. Address it head-on. Take steps to re-regulate yourself, to bring yourself back into balance.  Then ask yourself, what am I truly afraid of here? Get really clear on your resistance. This is a good time to do a little work - dialoguing with your inner parts - using Internal Family Systems - can be great. Check out episodes 26 or 140 for that. Or if you’re familiar with Byron Katie, and the work, this could be a good time for that too. Yes - I’m definitely hoping to have her on the show at some point!Because in the end, your goal should be to get clear so that you can actually move forward. A life of holding yourself back for fear of what *might* happen - that’s not what I want for you. A life of shining brightly, and inspiring others - especially your partner - with your integrity - now that sounds like something to shoot for.Ultimately, you are going to have to make the choice, the actual commitment, to follow through on your path. As I alluded to earlier, it’s possible that you’re not actually making the choice - that instead, you have the knowledge, but you’re not actually following through on making it happen. Is that possible? Only you know for sure. But see what shifts in you if you decide that you are COMMITTED to a particular path of growth…Here are some examples you might try on:I am COMMITTED to being truthful in my relationship.I am COMMITTED to taking care of myself when triggered, and not trying to have important conversations when I’m in a state of dysregulation.I am COMMITTED to being positive, and having fun - and to not bringing negativity into my relationship.I am COMMITTED to being monogamous and pouring my energy into fostering connection and intimacy with my partner.I am COMMITTED to self-care, to giving myself what I need - and if I don’t know what I need, I’m COMMITTED to figuring it out. Try some of those out, and feel the energy that commitment brings to your actions. Are you choosing to do something? Or are you just going to “try” to do something? In the end, once you realize that your fears are holding you back, you may or may not be able to eliminate your fears. But as you’ve heard me say before, this is a time for courage. Feel the fear, and do it anyway. And then - keep paying attention! You don’t want to bluster on ahead - do what it takes to stay present to however the world, and especially your partner, are responding to your path. And, if you need to, make adjustments. But at least your adjustments will be made based on reality, not what you think might happen, or what you’re worried might happen. That’s my wish for you. That this New Year you can set whatever intentions truly matter to you. And make the commitment to choosing, to taking whatever actions are required to get you there. And that you can stay present, taking care of yourself, and the others in your sphere of influence so that your path of growth is informed by your impact on the world, and the world’s impact on you. Happy New Year - and see you again next week where my guest will be Diana Fosha, creator of AEDP, which is an amazing modality for healing trauma and attachment injuries so that you can show up more brightly in your life. I’m really excited about her work - and to bring it to you next week on Relationship Alive. Until then, take care! And keep me posted.

Hypnosis | Hypnotherapy | Life Coaching | Meditations and Self Help by Paula Sweet

This is episode 144 of the Absolute Mind podcasts and today I am covering New Years Resolutions http://www.absolutemind.co.uk/freeanxietycourse  Please do bear in mind that we have created this podcast to be of some insight and some sort of assistance but by no means a way to treat conditions on their own. If you do have any deep-rooted conditions or ailments that you'd like some assistance with on a one-to-one professional approach, then please feel free to contact either myself or Michael on Facebook or directly through the website and we can arrange sessions that way or via Skype, whatever suits. So its that time of year.......... New Year New You? Or are you ditching the resolutions this year?  Every January the world is filled with people starting their new years resolutions whether that be losing weight, exercising more, be more active, start a new career, be more positive the list is endless when it comes to resolutions. But why does it have to happen only in the new year? are you fed up of giving yourself a restriction on starting new things only at the new year? why not February resolutions, March resolutions and so on. Do our goals only really matter if it's a "resolution" This year i've decided i'm not putting a label on my goals of resolutions, instead i'm going to continue being the person i want to be and continue working on new goals and aspirations that present themselves through out the year. The amount of time we put too much pressure on ourselves of starting these resolutions in January, pronouncing to our loved ones our plans and feel like a failure if we haven't stuck to it.  If you have a goal, a target, a plan it doesn't matter when you start as long as you start some time.  Take the pressure off yourself of it being a resolution and start planning and goal setting to ensure you feel like you can complete it.

Look every year I do a video where I publicly display what my goals for the next year. I thought it'd be kind of cool to actually publish the audio of that in this podcast. So it's not too often that I publish the same audio in two different shows but this is me being vulnerable. It always makes me nervous. Always makes me a little bit scared of what ... I've been able to go out ... I don't know. Just getting really, really clear on what I want and then actually going out and telling people what it is that I want to do. So the following is an audio piece from a video I literally took yesterday. So I'm excited to get this out to you guys. The product Secret MLM Hacks is just about ready to go public which I'm very, very excited about. It's about 5 o'clock in the evening right now. I am rolling this out tomorrow at 2pm. January 4th, 2pm. I am so excited. I've just been hauling. I'm pretty sure I won't sleep tonight which I'm actually really excited about. Just the whole thing. I was getting kind of ... Anyways super stoked about that. So anyways this is my goal though for 2018. I challenge you to get out there and get public about whatever goal it is that you have. Get out there and start getting real with what that is. The funny thing is that not only do you get more clear on what you want in order to tell people but you actually find that other people actually hold you accountable to that as well. So a lot of benefits that come from that. It also requires a little bit of growth on your side of being unapologetic on what you actually want for fear of offending others, what it is you're actually going for. So anyway excited for you guys, excited for this episode. Let's dive right in. So here's the real mystery. How do real MLMers like us who didn't cheat and only bug family members and friends, who want to grow a profitable home business, how do we recruit A players into our down lines and create extra incomes yet still have plenty of time for the rest of our lives? That's the blaring question and this podcast will give you the answer. My name is Steve Larsen and welcome to Secret MLM Hacks Radio. At the beginning of every single year, for the last ... This is the fourth time I've done it in a row now. Every January 1st I go and I find a spot and I think through what it is I want to get done in the next year. Then I publicly declare what that thing is. It's one of the scariest things I do. I honestly started it because I was tired of not feeling like I was ... I felt like I was going nowhere in life four years ago financially I mean, professionally with where I was going for my goals. All those things. I felt like ... I don't know. It was in hopes that by declaring to go publicly several things would happen. Number one I'd hold my own feet to the fire better. Other people did as well but really the thing that I wanted to have happen is that by me getting serious enough to actually declare, "Here is my goal!" I finally would have a goal. Does that make sense? By getting specific enough on what the goals are that I have I actually would know what my own goals are. I don't know if that makes any sense but I wasn't really setting goals. I didn't have goals. I didn't have things that were ... I didn't have any of that kind of stuff. So what I decided to do is like, hey, what if I was to go set a goal publicly and tell everybody. Interesting thing that happened is exactly what I thought. Number one it was scary. Number two it felt weird publicly to saying a number. Then what was kind of interesting is all these people started coming out of the woodwork and saying, "Steven, you can do this. You got this. You're the man. Go for it." Stuff like that. You know what's funny is I don't think ever I've actually hit the goal on target. I don't think ever and that's okay. The first year I was like if I could just make an extra $1000 a month, it would change our entire life. We had almost nothing. We were living on student loans. It was hard as a man to go through that because I didn't feel like I was being a provider which is really rough. So it was like man if I could just do $1000 a month ... that was four years ago. Three years ago, the second time I did it was $3000 a month. I was like, "Oh, man I hit the $1000 a few times and this coming up, this next year, I'm going to go for $3000 a month." And then this next one ... The last one I did was $30,000 a month which was significantly higher obviously. But I'm pleased to say that I actually hit it a couple of times. This is excluding my salaried position. You know what I mean? It was exciting for me to see that. It was exciting for me to see that progress happen. So yet again here I am. I'm going to set another goal for 2018. I only said ... I really focus on just one goal. I'm not really like a ... Let's set a billion goals out there. When I'm on stage, when I'm teaching, when I'm doing the different things that I do ... One of the things ... Especially a lot of my students, one of the things I see happen over and over and over again is somebody won't get started simply because they can't see all the path in between where they are and where they're trying to go. That's not how life works. You see the few steps in front of you. You see the peak of the mountain but you don't see all the trails in between. You don't see that there's a canyon in the middle. You don't see there's going to be all these different obstacles along the way. That's not how ... That's how life works. Okay. There's all these unexpected things that happen. The reason I like setting these goals publicly like this is for the sole purpose of ... like I said holding my feet to the fire. But it's fun to know what I'm going to go try and accomplish. If I don't get it done, I'm going to be personally offended by myself about that. I'm actually going to ... I'll actually get mad about it. I'll actually get mad about not hitting the goal. Not reaching what it is I said I would do. But I also know that's okay. I sprint as hard as I can towards it. It was cool that first year there was only a couple of times I hit $1000 a month. It felt like this insurmountable massive thing. I was like, "Oh my gosh! This is changing my life!" Then the second year when it was just $3000 a month the same thing. I only hit it a couple times I think. And it was like, "Holy crap! That's massive!" What it made me go learn because I set the goal was the kind of knowledge I needed to hit those goals. I don't totally know all the steps and pieces to be able to hit the goal that I'm going for, for this next year. But I know that I'm motivated enough now to go hit it and people are watching me which is kind of weird but that's how I'm doing it. It's been working. So here's the goal. Okay. So the first year, I hit $1000 a month just a few rounds. Second year, I hit $3000 a month a few rounds. Last year, I hit $30,000 a month a few rounds. I decided I would take a leap. A huge leap of faith here and quit my job. So I actually, as of yesterday, am no longer employed by anybody. I am self-employed which might sound ludicrous but it's ... I'm just following the pattern. I'm following the pattern I see from other people. I'm following the pattern I've seen the last few years. I'm self-employed. That extra little added good pressure, not bad pressure, good pressure is helping me grow. I can already feel it. It's only day two. Okay. It's like I already feel my feet being held to the fire, which would be nice right now. It's pretty cold out. But I was sitting in a Mastermind and I was listening to all these other people and I was listening to how they were talking and I was watching. Most of them are all self-employed. I was watching each one of them and the struggles and challenges they were going through. I feel like the thing that I need to do to keep my progress going is something that I'm afraid of admitting. I would sit ... I remember sitting in the room right there. I sat in the room and I didn't ... I couldn't get the stupid topic out of my head for like weeks that I should probably leave my job. I was like I can't. Oh, are you serious? I kept trying to distract myself from my own head. Then one day, it was when I was sitting in the Mastermind when I came to terms with it. I was like, okay, for me to move forward, I have to leave my job. I was like, "Oh my gosh." It scared me. It actually really freaked my out because it ... I understood clearly ... because of where I work worked. ClickFunnels, there's like 56,000 ... At the time we're making this there's 56,000 active users of ClickFunnels. That let's us see businesses in pretty much every single industry, what's working, what isn't. As the lead funnel builder there that ... my role there, I saw a lot of funnels. I knew what worked, what didn't, what things were good, what things were bad, what was cutting edge versus what are the things that are going to stay true forever in this industry and that industry but not that one nor this one. You know what I mean? It was cool to see this big, broad thing. So sitting there and I was like I think I have to quit my job. I think I know what I'm going to go do first and I'm excited to go do it. And this feeling of instead of fear, this feeling of almost like ... I used to do sprint triathlons and it was the feeling I'd get before a sprint triathlon. Little bit of nervous feeling. You know what you're about to go through is actually going to hurt just a little bit. But you ultimately know it's going to go pretty good. Even though you're going to get banged up or scraped or you're swimming in the lake and you're getting hit by a stick that's right over there or someone kicks you in the face. You know what I mean? There's all stuff that's happening in there. It still would end up being ... I look back at all those memories with huge fondness. This is going to be like that. I've had people reach out and take time out of the day to tell me my plan is stupid. And I've had people reach out, take time out of their day, to tell me that my plan is awesome. That tells me right there that I'm heading in the right direction as well, to get that polarity and get that split between people. So I'm excited for this. I'm excited for it. I've worked hard towards this. My goal is a million dollars. That's my 2018 goal is to get into the "two comma club" by the end of 2018. I'm quite positive I'm going to be able to do it much faster than that because of the stuff I've identified, where I'm going, what I'm selling, the things ... I mean I am ... It is extremely calculated, everything that I'm doing. I know life's all about curve balls so that will probably change a billion times. But for right now, that's what the goal is. That's what the plan is. I know exactly what I'm going to be doing for the next ... especially the next six weeks. It's going to be straight up hustle time. I'm going to put down anything happy or fun or relaxing or whatever. But I'm excited. I hope that whatever you guys are doing, you go set a goal for yourself and get public about it. I don't care what it is. The important part is to not be afraid to tell people. Funny enough, we all think by telling people our ideals, our ideas will get stolen. I've never actually had that be the case. I try and tell everyone what my ideas are. Try and tell everybody what the things are that I'm doing. I find that people actually end up adding to the idea rather than steal it. I mean there's only been maybe like one or two people ever who've actually tried to do the thing I'm talking about. People don't because it's not their idea. That's my ownership on my side. Even if they did go pull it off, even if they did go do the thing that I was doing, they still won't do it the same way. I'm the only one. I'm the only me. You know what I mean? Anyway, so I'm excited. I'm really pumped. My goal's a million dollars. That's $83,000 a month. I think I can do it. I've stacked a ton of high ticket sales scenarios and environments at the beginning of the year to help me get towards that right off the bat. I think I know where I'm going to take it afterwards and I'm excited. It's requiring that I go hire people and it's requiring that I build a team around me and it's requiring that I grow, that I learn how to manage, that I learn how to delegate, that I actually have a structure and schedule for my days personally as a human as an individual. I'm looking forward to the growth. I know that there's some discomfort that's going to come with it but I'm actually excited about that as well. I'm ready for the next change. So this is it guys. Four years ago, my goal was $1000 a month. Now I'm going to $83,000 a month. It sounds ridiculous but I kind of like that. So I'm going to do it. So if you want to follow me on the journey from here on out I'm going to be documenting what I do and showing everyone what I do so that we all can kind of ... It's not all about me beating my chest. It's about actually selfishly everyone else still holding me to what I said that I was going to go do. So anyway I thought I'd come to this park here. It's freezing out but that's my goal 2018, a million bucks. That's crazy. I remember scraping by at the beginning of our marriage just like with nothing. We had like nothing. Not even two nickels to rub together. The ridiculous stress that that pulls in. I used to think that rich people were greedy. That's not true at all. I actually have experienced more ... more of the greedy side when you have no money and you're like where's my next meal coming from? When am I going to eat? Where's this? Where's that? You get scraping by, clawing. You're getting past everyone, everything. Don't care about others emotions. You are just thinking about how to make the next meal. I know that's a stereotype but it's been my personal experience that it's actually a little bit the other way around. I'm excited for this and how it's going to change me and change my family. It's going to require me to change. I understand that where I am ... I probably don't know enough or have enough or whatever to get to that next level but I'm ready. So 2018 here I come. What's your goal? Post you're goal down below. I'd love to know what you're goals are. Hey, thanks for listening. Please remember to subscribe and leave feedback for me. July is the first of the summer months, where we strip down to our shorts and t-shirts, bathing suits or even birthday suits. Most of us struggle with correct nourishment in today’s world because we are flooded with a lot of propaganda and conflicting information about what’s good for your body. This includes not only what we put in it but what we put on it. Every January new "so called" diets roll out and everyone jumps on the bandwagon thinking that this is going to be the magic solution, the miracle we’ve all been waiting for. Some diets are even crazy, like eating sardines or grapefruit all day long. I’ve studied all these ideas for about 50 years. I read about every diet and nutrition book I could get my hands on, research from nutrition and health journals, and tried many of those fad things myself, well, except for those extreme things. There were a lot of years between then and now where I struggled with wanting to eat all day long even though I was active and lean. I literally craved food all the time. I don’t any more. Today, I unravel some of the pieces with my guest host, Gwen Lepard. Listen in to learn more. New Year’s Resolutions have always been a nemesis of mine. Every January 1st, I would compile my list with every intention of keeping them throughout the year. But, lets be honest, I barely kept them through the first month, if that long. They soon became a joke to me, knowing I would not last through […]

Every January most of us will make a list of New Year's resolutions. Some resolutions are lofty and ambitious, while others are lame. Only a small percentage are actually accomplished. This is probably because they're more like dreams than goals. Would you like to ditch these pie-in-the-sky promises for better, simpler and easy-to-implement resolutions?   Join Amy Newmark, the publisher and editor-in-chief for Chicken Soup and author of, Simply Happy, and me on Tuesday, January 24, 10-11 A.M. CT US. Amy and I will be discussing new year’s resolutions that can be easily and successfully accomplished with gusto helping you create a happy, confident, and positive life for 2017.

Lingthusiasm - A podcast that's enthusiastic about linguistics

Every January, hundreds of linguists gather in a conference room somewhere in the US to discuss and vote for the Word of the Year. It’s the longest-running and most public WotY proceedings, and it’s part of the annual meeting of the American Dialect Society, a sister society of the Linguistic Society of America. Gretchen was there this year and the past few years, while Lauren has never been (but actively reads the #woty16 hashtag on twitter!). We discuss what the ADS Word of the Year vote feels like from inside the room where it happens, the categories and politics around selecting a WotY, look at the different offerings from other organizations that also name a WotY (Lauren is pretty pleased that Australian Word of the Year was “democracy sausage”, while Gretchen would like a Canadian Word of the Year for 2017, thank you), and end up wondering what even is a word. We also respond to finally going live! Thanks for all your comments so far, and if you have a sec to rate us on iTunes or wherever else you’re listening, we’d super appreciate it. Update: In the show we said that 'Trump’ was selected as sign for the year for Netherlands Sign Language. It was actually the Swiss Deaf Association, in Switzerland. Happy Holidays and welcome back to another episode of Wall Street Unplugged! You don’t have to be tech savvy to understand my next bet… And with the 2017 Consumer Electronics Show just around the corner, I couldn’t have timed this podcast any better. In fact, this is the rant I’ve been waiting for… Every January the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) presents the world with the latest and greatest tech trends. It’s considered the largest consumer expo in the world. And for good reason… The CES is the host of nearly 4,000 technology companies… The space covers 2.2M square feet… And it takes me about half the day to walk through the entire event. From an investor stand point – this is the opportunity to witness these trends on the launch pad, firsthand. And investing in the right stocks within these megatrends can result in massive gains. But here’s the thing. The trick to investing in this sector is all about knowing which trends to avoid… There’s one vital question we all must ask ourselves before we place our bets. “Do these tech-trends actually serve a consumer need?” If consumer adaptability is far out of reach. And if earnings are already dropping – As investors, why aren’t we looking elsewhere? To start off today’s episode, I’ll be diving in on 3 tech trends every investor must avoid. I have the numbers to back it up. Then, tune in to hear the ideas I actually do believe in. These new technologies are already implemented by the biggest names in the industry. Listeners will hear examples of each trend and how they can directly impact the consumer. Get your pens ready. To end the episode, I’ll be sharing the best plays in the sector – A list of stocks that have already secured their seat for the future.

This year will be no different, we’re going to cast a compelling vision, and its pretty simple…Pray. That’s it. That’s what we want to see happen in 2013 and beyond. We want to be a church saturated in deep prayer. Beyond prayer for Aunt Millie’s hip or a new job. Those things are important, but we want to pray bigger and deeper. As we kick off 2013 we’re going explore some great prayers in the Bible and how individuals and communities were changed and we’re going to pray, and expect nothing less ourselves!

Every January 1, millions of Americans will make their list of New Year's resolutions.  A New Year's resolution is a vow to change, improve, or grow in a specific area in the coming year.  But, life is busy and your busy schedule and packed priorities quickly edge out all those good intentions.  Why is that? Why can't we change?  Why do we keep giving up?  Why is it another year--and same old me?
