Hey friends, Chase here This time of year, I get a lot of messages from folks ready for change — they've declared an intention, they want the next chapter, but something's holding them back. Some have the ideas and energy but no system to ship. Others have the systems but aren't listening to the quiet that tells them what to build next. Different gaps, same problem: without space to reflect and a mindful plan to act, momentum stalls. Here's the truth most people ignore: Intentions are the spark — but they won't transform your life without quiet, synthesis, and daily practices that turn ideas into meaningful work. You can declare you're "a creator" all you want, but without adventures that feed your curiosity, habits that produce work, and a practice of listening and asking questions, your intentions stay inspirational notes instead of real projects. If you only scribble ideas and never synthesize, they evaporate. If you only measure outcomes and never give yourself quiet, you miss the intuition that points to what's worth doing. In today's episode: Why setting an intention matters — and how to approach it mindfully instead of rushing into action The seven practical steps to turn end-of-year reflection into real momentum: adventures, consuming culture, making, scribbling, sharing, asking, and listening A simple way to track your work so progress becomes inevitable, not accidental Enjoy — and remember: this season of reflection is not for doing nothing; it's for slowing down just enough to do the right, often uncomfortable, work that actually moves you forward.

12/3/2025 - The main purpose of this podcast was to get everyone locked in for the completion of 2025 and into the New Year!! There are numerous ways to handle the holidays and many people tell themselves that they will "start strong" at the beginning of the New Year. We don't believe in that mindset, and we honestly worry and are concerned for those who feel like they will be able to get right b ack into the swing of things "easily". Health and Fitness is something that should be maintained, and there was some tough talk today, but I hope you find it motivating.Artist - NFSong - Motto

In this solo episode of the Stuff About Money podcast, host Erik Garcia, CFP®, ChFC®, BFA™ sits down for a candid one-on-one about goals. Not the shiny, New-Year's-resolution kind, but the messy, honest kind we whisper to ourselves when no one's listening. Erik shares two personal moments that reshaped how he thinks about goal setting, including the year Dr. Matt Morris bluntly told him, “You just made a bad goal,” and the overly ambitious golf objective that nearly convinced him to quit the game altogether. These stories spark a bigger conversation about why we so often overestimate what we can accomplish in the short term and underestimate what we're capable of over the long haul. In the second half of the episode, Erik unpacks a healthier, more realistic framework for pursuing goals — especially financial ones. Instead of obsessing over hitting a number by a certain date, he encourages listeners to think of goals as direction and objectives as the checkpoints that keep them moving forward. Erik explores why grace, awareness, and better-designed goals lead to more progress and less burnout. If this episode resonates with you, share it with someone who needs a fresh perspective on goal setting, and make sure you're following the show for more conversations that help you move toward a wiser, more intentional financial life. Episode Highlights: Erik discusses why traditional goal-setting frameworks and New Year's resolutions aren't the focus, emphasizing the frustration goals often create. (01:10) Erik shares the moment Dr. Matt Morris looked at him and said he had simply made a bad goal, reframing how he viewed falling short. (02:30) A reminder surfaces about how people consistently overestimate short-term capacity and underestimate long-term potential. (04:00) Erik explains why he now treats goals as directions rather than destinations, using the New York-to-England swimming analogy. (05:30) Erik shares how an overly ambitious summer golf goal led to frustration and helped him rethink the difference between goals and objectives. (07:00) Financial goal setting follows the same pattern, as unrealistic expectations often lead to shame, frustration, or giving up entirely. (09:10) Two core takeaways: create better directional goals and recognize the bias of misjudging short- and long-term potential. (10:40) Why having someone walk alongside you, such as a financial planner, helps maintain direction and adjust objectives over time. (11:40) Erik encourages listeners to share the episode and continue reframing their approach to goal setting. (13:40) Key Quotes: “ I've stopped treating goals like a destination, like something I have to reach. Instead, I think of them like a direction.” - Erik Garcia, CFP®, ChFC®, BFA™ “  You're not failing your goals, your goals just might need a reframe. Fix the direction, adjust the objectives, and trust the long-term journey.” - Erik Garcia, CFP®, ChFC®, BFA™ “ Set better goals, not bigger ones, not more detailed ones. Better ones. Goals that orient you long-term, meaningful directional goals, and then backfill that with objectives that guide your ” - Erik Garcia, CFP®, ChFC®, BFA™ Resources Mentioned: Erik Garcia, CFP®, BFA Xavier Angel, CFP®, ChFC, CLTC Plan Wisely Wealth Advisors

Watch the full coverage of the live stream on The Emily D. Baker YouTube channel: https://youtu.be/Clb86O_E0P8  Day 1 of the Brian Walshe Trial happened on December 1, 2025. The opening statements presented two starkly contrasting narratives to the jury. The Prosecution laid out a chilling timeline of digital and physical evidence, revealing sinister Google searches, a Dexter shopping list and Ana's DNA evidence on a hatchet, hacksaw and her personal items. The Defense admitted that Brian Walshe lied to police and disposed of his wife's body, but adamantly denies he murdered her. They claim Anna Walshe died spontaneously in bed on New Year's Day. The ensuing Google searches and disposal efforts were the result of Brian's "frantic and panic reaction" driven by fear that no one would believe him and a desire to protect his three young sons. The defense argues that earlier searches for divorce were solely to protect the family's assets from a pending $400,000 restitution bill from his federal fraud case. Tune in for the full analysis of the opening arguments, the key witnesses (including the reappearance of troopers from the Karen Read case), and the legal strategies that will determine if Brian Walshe is found guilty of first-degree murder. Walshe initially pleaded not guilty to all charges, including murder, misleading police, and improper disposal of a body. However, in a dramatic turn during jury selection in November 2025, he pleaded guilty to the two lesser charges—misleading a police investigation and improper disposal of a human body—while maintaining his not guilty plea to the murder charge, which will now proceed to trial  Prosecutors allege that Brian Walshe beat Ana to death, dismembered her body, and disposed of it, citing evidence such as a damaged, bloody knife found in their basement and incriminating Google searches on his devices related to dismemberment and body disposal. The trial is expected to last anywhere from 2-4 weeks. Girlfriend, if you want freedom from your eating disorder in the new year, you can't keep identifying AS the eating disorder. In this powerful new episode, host Lindsey Nichol gets vulnerable about being defined by labels - the number on the clothing tag, the OSFED diagnosis that made her feel "not sick enough," then the anorexia diagnosis that felt like she'd "earned" being officially sick. She shares the moment she realized the energy it took to be everyone's label was debilitating - and how everything changed when she stopped identifying as disordered and started living from her TRUE identity. Here's the truth: If you are defined by your labels, you're also confined by your labels. And no label - no matter how authoritative, no diagnosis, no number, no title - can contain the full perspective and constellation of who you might become. You are NOT your eating disorder. You are NOT your diagnosis. You are NOT the number on the tag. You are a saint. An heir. A daughter of the Most High. Royalty. This episode will shift how you see yourself and give you a tangible exercise to discover your true identity as we head into a new year. What You'll Learn: The Label Trap Arianna Huffington's truth: No label can contain who you might become How the ED voice defines you by WHAT you have/do, never WHO you are Why being defined by labels means you're also confused by them Lindsey's Vulnerable Label Story Obsessed with the number on clothing tags OSFED diagnosis: feeling "not sick enough" Anorexia diagnosis: feeling "officially sick" The shift: When being someone else's label became debilitating Realizing she wasn't designed to be a label - she was designed to be HER The Labels Keeping You Stuck "Anorexic," "bulimic," "the girl with the eating disorder" "The fit one," "the vegan," "the one on a diet" "Perfectionist," "people pleaser," "the sick one" Even "recovered" can become a trap Research: 80% of New Year's resolutions fail because they're rooted in outcomes, not identity Who God Says You REALLY Are Fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14) Chosen - royal priesthood, holy nation (1 Peter 2:9) Deeply loved - nothing can separate you (Romans 8:38-39) A new creation - old is gone, new is here (2 Corinthians 5:17) An heir - daughter of the King, royalty (Galatians 4:7) The New Year Identity Shift Most resolutions fail because they're about WHAT you want to do Identity-based change is more powerful than outcome-based goals You can't identify as "the girl with the eating disorder" and expect to live free When you change your identity, your behavior follows Stop identifying as disordered, start identifying as WHO GOD SAYS YOU ARE Your Tangible Exercise: Step 1: Write down FALSE labels you've been carrying (Anorexic, bulimic, the number on the tag, not good enough, the sick one, etc.) Step 2: Cross them ALL out (These are NOT your identity - they're lies that cannot contain who you might become) Step 3: Write down WHO GOD SAYS YOU ARE I am fearfully and wonderfully made I am chosen I am deeply loved I am a new creation I am an heir I am a daughter of the Most High I am royalty I am a saint I am NOT my eating disorder I am created for freedom Step 4: Read these truths OUT LOUD (Let your ears hear what God says about you) Step 5: Live from THIS identity (Not from labels, not from diagnosis, not from what people call you) Key Takeaways: ✨ If you're defined by your labels, you're also confused by your labels ✨ No label can contain who you might become ✨ The ED voice tells you WHAT you have/do, never WHO you are ✨ You are NOT: your eating disorder, your diagnosis, your size, your past ✨ You ARE: a saint, an heir, a daughter of the Most High, royalty ✨ 80% of New Year's resolutions fail - identity-based change is what works ✨ Stop identifying as disordered, start identifying as who God says you are ✨ When you change your identity, your behavior follows Powerful Quotes: "No label, no matter how authoritative - one given to you by a doctor or a boss - no title, no dollar sign can ever contain the full perspective and constellation of who you might become." - Arianna Huffington "If you are defined by your labels, you're also confused by your labels" "The eating disorder voice loved defining me by WHAT I had and WHAT I did. But it never told me WHO I was" "The energy it took to remain someone else's label was absolutely debilitating" "I wasn't designed to be a label. I was designed to be ME" "You weren't designed to be 'anorexic.' You were designed to be a daughter of the Most High" "If you keep identifying as 'the girl with the eating disorder,' you will keep living like the girl with the eating disorder" "You are NOT your eating disorder. You are a saint, an heir, a daughter of the Most High, royalty" "When you're rooted in THAT identity - when that becomes your foundation - everything changes" "You can't keep identifying AS the eating disorder and expect to live free" "No label can contain the full perspective and constellation of who you might become" Ready to Get Support for the New Year Ahead? In this Stranger Things Season 5 Part 1 special, Squeaks and Frank break down the first four episodes of the final season and talk about why the show somehow leveled up from what already felt like peak television. They revisit the fallout from Season 4, the new status quo in Hawkins under military lockdown, and how the kids have become a true high level party on the offensive instead of just surviving. The conversation hits character arcs for Will, Dustin, Eleven, Mike, Lucas, Max, Joyce, and Hopper, plus the return of Kali and what that might mean for the story. Frank and Squeaks trade theories on Vecna's real plan, Will's new powers, who might die before the end, and whether the Stranger Things theatrical finale is worth seeing in a packed theater. It is a spoiler packed, reference filled hangout for fans who just finished Part 1 and are already starving for more. Timestamps and Topics 00:00 – Intro & First Reactions Squeaks kicks off the Stranger Things special, Frank joins, and you both give your one word (or two word) reactions to Season 5 Part 1. 02:00 – Recap & Season 5 Setup Quick recap of Season 4's ending, Vecna's attack on Hawkins, the crater, the "crawl," and the military lockdown over the Upside Down rift. 05:40 – Will, Dustin & Character Arcs Deep dive into Dustin's grief and "Eddie mode," Will stepping up with new powers, and how some characters have evolved or stalled. 11:40 – Pacing, Max's Mindscape & Tone Talking through the pacing of Part 1, Max's inner "bubble" world, how the show balances horror, heart, and 80s vibes. 16:30 – Death Predictions & Who Might Go Theories on who could die in Part 2 and the finale, emotional stakes, and which characters feel expendable. 24:20 – Vecna's Entrance & Part 1 Finale Breakdown of Vecna's Vader-style entrance, revived Demogorgons, Will's power moment, and why the finale feels "next level." 32:40 – Hopper, Eleven & The Powered Kids Hopper and Eleven's relationship, trust and training, Kali's return, and ideas about Vecna building his own "lab" of powered children. 37:10 – Darker Themes & Fan Theories Discussion about trauma, possible subtext with Vecna/Henry, Stephen King influences, and how far the show might push it. 40:40 – Returning Faces & Endgame Ideas Speculation on seeing Barb, Eddie, Billy or others again, plus big theories about Will, Vecna, and the future of the Upside Down. 42:50 – Theater Finale, Ratings & Wrap-Up Chat about seeing the finale in theaters, New Year's Eve timing, your Eggo ratings for Season 5 Part 1, and closing thank-yous. Key Takeaways Stranger Things Season 5 Part 1 somehow raises the bar on a show that already felt like peak TV, especially with the Part 1 finale. Hawkins has adjusted to life around the Upside Down crater, with the military putting a "bandage" on the wound and building a base to go on offense instead of just reacting. The kids function like a well oiled high level DnD party now, splitting up by quadrants, hunting Vecna, and understanding each other's strengths. Dustin's harsher attitude is framed as grief and guilt over Eddie's death, with Dustin trying to embody Eddie's rebellious spirit and sometimes missing the point. Will finally steps out of pure victim mode into a true powered role, with his connection to the hive mind unlocking abilities that visually mirror Vecna. There is a strong theory that Vecna is basically recreating the lab in his own way, turning traumatized children into his own numbered "program" of powered kids. Hopper and Eleven's relationship is one of the emotional anchors of the season, moving from overprotection to mutual trust as Hopper finally accepts that Eleven must fight. The show keeps a balance between heavy horror and comedy, with 80s style jokes, sexual innuendo, and teen banter that make the world feel lived in even as the apocalypse looms. Fans should brace for major losses in Part 2 and the finale, with Joyce, Mike, and Will all brought up as possible tragic sacrifices in different theories. The final two episodes are cinematic enough that a theatrical run makes sense, especially with big visual moments like Will's full power activation and Vecna's Vader style entrance. Memorable Quotes "The show was already at a caliber that I was thinking was like peak television, and somehow it elevated it." "The kids are a well oiled machine at this point. They are searching in different quadrants and have different plans on how to find Vecna and confirm that he is dead." "I think Will was a victim in the beginning, and now we see him as a badass. What victimized him is now his greatest asset." "Instead of a training montage where he slowly moves a cup, it is victim, victim, victim, not a victim. That flip makes the moment hit harder." "By the end of this first batch it felt like the end of Predator or Terminator. It is that big 80s action climax energy." "If Joyce dies, we get a montage of her saving Will and being the only one who believed he was alive. That is the kind of scene this show would absolutely do." "There always has to be a Vecna. If Vecna is gone, who else could control the Upside Down but Will now" Call to Action If you enjoyed this Stranger Things Season 5 Part 1 breakdown, make sure you follow the show and hit subscribe so you do not miss our Part 2 reaction and finale coverage. The holiday season has a way of turning capable, health-conscious women into overextended versions of themselves. Between travel, parties, family expectations, and endless to-do lists, it feels like you either have to be perfect or give up completely. In this episode of Total Health in Midlife, Elizabeth Sherman shows you a third option—the Bare Minimum Holiday Plan. She explains how defining your personal "minimums" for movement, food, rest, and emotional care can help you stay consistent without adding pressure or guilt. If you've ever started December with great intentions and ended up saying, "Forget it, I'll start again in January," this conversation will change how you approach the season. You'll learn to find a rhythm that keeps you grounded and proud—no perfection required. This is Episode 3 in the 4-part Holiday Health Series, designed to help midlife women feel strong, calm, and in control from Thanksgiving through the New Year.     The Biggest Problem Midlife Women Face Regarding Holiday Health Most midlife women approach the holidays with an all-or-nothing mindset. They push themselves to maintain every routine, every tradition, and every expectation—until one missed workout or extra cookie becomes the signal to abandon it all. This perfection-then-collapse cycle fuels exhaustion, weight gain, inflammation, and guilt that lasts well into January. What's really happening isn't lack of willpower—it's lack of boundaries and realistic planning. Midlife bodies and nervous systems need recovery and rhythm, not rigid rules. Without clear "bare minimums," women default to overdoing or giving up, never finding the steady middle ground where real health lives.     WHAT YOU'LL LEARN How to identify your non-negotiable habits that keep you feeling good—without overcomplicating them Why setting bare minimums actually improves consistency and self-trust How to avoid the all-or-nothing spiral when life, travel, or family chaos hits The surprising link between doing less and sustaining energy, metabolism, and mood How to use the Feel Good Holiday  Playbook to stay grounded all season long     What You Can Do Right Now Grab a notebook and make four quick lists: movement, food, sleep, and emotional care. For each, write down the bare minimum that helps you feel like yourself. Maybe it's a 15-minute walk, one vegetable per meal, a 10 p.m. bedtime, or five minutes alone in the car before you go inside. These minimums become your anchor. When the calendar fills up or travel throws you off, come back to these simple actions instead of giving up. If you want extra guidance, structure, and reminders, the Feel Good Holiday Playbook walks you through creating and keeping these habits with quick videos, worksheets, and email support.     The Listener Takeaway: Why This Episode Matters You don't need a perfect plan to feel good this holiday season—you need a doable one. By defining your bare minimums, you replace guilt and chaos with clarity and calm. You'll stop starting over every Monday (or every January) and finish the season feeling proud, rested, and connected to your body. Because health isn't built in grand gestures. It's built in the small, steady choices you keep—especially when life gets messy.     RESOURCES Feel Good Holiday Playbook Episode 2 — Food & Body Triggers Episode 2 — The Invisible Load and Boundary Setting Episode 4 — Dismantling the Martyr Myth   Get full show notes and more information here: https://elizabethsherman.com/HHS-3

Did you know the Tudors didn't give gifts at Christmas? For them, New Year's Day was the most political, strategic, and nerve-wracking day of the entire festive season; a glittering ritual where loyalty was displayed, and favour was won (or lost). Welcome to Day 3 of my Tudor Christmas Advent series. I'm historian and author Claire Ridgway, and today we're stepping inside the astonishing world of Tudor gift-giving. In this episode, you'll learn: - Why New Year's Day was the true “gift season” - How Henry VIII used gifts to reward, punish, and send unmistakable signals - What Anne Boleyn gave (and what Henry gave her in return!) - The lavish presents exchanged across the reigns of Mary I and Elizabeth I - Why gifts were not sentimental… but political tools From Holbein-designed silver fountains to early wristwatches, from embroidered coats to gold whistles, Tudor New Year's gifts tell us everything about power, favour, and desire at court. We talk about what truly happened this season, how to make your goals fit your actual life, and how to recognize progress that doesn't show up in photos or personal records. You'll also hear why perfection can't be the expectation, why you're not starting over, and what it looks like to train like the version of yourself you're becoming instead of waiting for the perfect stretch of time to feel motivated. Are you feeling behind or discouraged as the year wraps up? This episode is a real conversation to help you step into next season with more steadiness, compassion, and self-trust.
