#753 This week, on the Anxiety Slayer Podcast, we're talking about how New Year's Resolutions can cause additional stress and anxiety and what you can do instead.
This episode is a real-time holiday check in with me and my husband as we talk about what sobriety looks like during one of the most emotionally charged seasons of the year. We reflect on past holidays when substances were part of how we coped, numbed, or survived, and how different things look now with intention, communication, and boundaries. We also pause to acknowledge a milestone. My husband shares where he is at just over two years sober, specifically how his program and mental health have evolved.Together, we talk about the stress of family dynamics, expectations, grief, finances, and the nonstop pace of the season, along with the practical ways we take care of ourselves so resentment and burnout do not quietly take the wheel. From checking in with each other, to protecting our routines, to knowing when to opt out instead of powering through, this episode is about choosing sobriety on purpose when things feel loud and heavy. If the holidays have ever made you question your recovery, miss old coping mechanisms, or feel alone in the effort it takes to stay grounded, this conversation is for you. You are not weak for feeling it. You are human. And you are allowed to do the holidays differently now.Check out sponsor Worthy Wellness Center if you or a loved one are looking for residential treatment, outpatient programs or sober living, Worthy can provide a safe space to heal.Connect with Glynis on InstagramDM me on InstagramMessage me on FacebookListen AD FREE & workout with me on Patreon Connect with me on TikTokEmail me chasingheroine@gmail.comSee you next week!
Everything moves fast—except the truth.2026 is pivotal. While 2025 was the preparation, we are now facing the point of no return.Big energies. New reality. The mind demands certainty, but the heart speaks in stillness. True transformation is found in the pause. In prayer and when I channel - I access the seventh heaven, I meet Elohim in pure joy and rest. We must remember that only by slowing our frequency do we allow the highest realms to anchor into our world. So that said…Everything moves fast—except the truth. How are you feeling as we close the last chapter of 2025? “Your awareness is the threshold of your supernatural reality. What you neglect to perceive, you cannot steward. Heaven is always moving ….The question is whether your eyes are open to its motion." - KassandraThis quote is an invitation to take a moment to check in with yourself amidst the busHow you close the year shapes how you enter the next one.Trust that 2026 is going to move you forward in ways you can't yet see.My personal spiritual visions have shown “worse before better “ and come July - oh my the bounty and global uprise and celebration can hardly be obtained in my energy.I'm so excited for you and your newfound freedoms now and to come.yness and pace of life. Take a moment. Roll your shoulders up and back. Relax your jaw.Soften. Settle.Breathe.If you're feeling a little stretched, a little tender, a little over-it… you're not alone. This year asked a lot of us.More change than we planned for.More confusion than we can stand for. Before you dive into New Year Resolutions, I want to offer you something simple.A grounding.A breath.A moment to feel proud of how far you've come.Today, just notice. What music or scents energize you?Who quietly drains you? What commitments feel exciting? What obligations feel like dread and you can agree to release?Notice it without judging it.When something (or someone) no longer brings joy or value, it becomes weight.Slowing down makes a real difference.Letting go isn't a dramatic gesture… it's a practice. How you close the year shapes how you enter the next one.Trust that 2026 is going to move you forward in ways you can't yet see.My personal spiritual visions have shown “worse before better “ and come July - oh my the bounty and global uprise and celebration can hardly be obtained in my energy.I'm so excited for you and your newfound freedoms now and to come. You don't need to finish the year WITH TOXIC POSITIVITY.Just finish it awakend.Clear enough.Self loved enough.Rested enough to begin - again.❤️I LOVE YOU! In closing:If you want clarity, depth, and real alignment, slow down for theslowest part of you. That's where authenticity lives—beneath the noise, in the steadyrhythm of the heart.Rushing keeps you clever. Slowing down makes you wise. The deeper intelligence of the body doesn't speak in words or frameworks. It speaks in sensations—tightness, release, warmth, stillness.Deconstruction isn't a mindset; it's physical. It's JUST TRUE…Fear, tension, and old conditioning unravel through the body beforeclarity can move in.That doesn't mean something's wrong. It means something real is happening. When you drop into that space of not-knowing, you reclaim power thatspeed and certainty can never provide.Because discernment isn't found in the mind's debate—it's felt. The body tells you what's alive: a quiet yes, a clear no, a pause thatholds more truth than any plan. That pause isn't hesitation; it's integrity in motion. So instead of forcing outcomes, let what's authentic emerge at its own pace. The heart always moves slower than the coping self—and that's exactlywhy it never lies.Slowing down isn't withdrawal. It's the most advanced form of alignment.Stop pushing. Welcome to the weekly communal Schauer, today we're discussing the history of new year's resolutions as well as the neuroscience of making them stick. You might be wondering “why is she taking so long on the phrasing of these goals?” That's a wonderful question *hypothetical* listener and the answer to that is because how you speak to yourself does matter. Decisions are changes, they are pivots - pivots are a rapid change in direction that, if not taken carefully or under control, can cause significant strain and even injury. “But that's muscle strain” - yes, however cognitive strain is also real and can cause you to fear pivots and change in the future. We're taking this slow, step by step, because I'm talking about how to make things stick (grip) so the pivot feels solid and stable! Thank you all for making this year absolutely fabulous, I would not be where I am without all y'all's (2nd person possessive plural pronoun btw) support and feedback. I'm wishing everyone a happy holidays, happy new year, and just a general sense of happiness as it's very much needed. Go easy on yourselves, you got this. Want to create new years goals that actually stick? The bottom line is... goals and resolutions set you up for a feeling of failure because they force you into a box of doing things the same way every day. So today, we're cracking open the anti-resolution strategy that guarantees success by focusing on who you get to be, not what you need to do. Press play and shift your energy from feeling down on yourself to a New Year, New Me kind of vibe that creates the result you desire. Become the person set up for success in 2026

Do you struggle with turning your New Year intentions into outcomes you can actually see in your life and practice? Whether you love making resolutions or avoid them because they rarely lead to results, this conversation offers a deeper look at what really carries a goal from January excitement to December achievement. I explore why information alone is never enough and why creating meaningful change requires clarity, structure, and tools that support the way you work in real time. In this episode, I walk you through the three components that turn a resolution into a result. By the end, you will have a clearer understanding of how to create the conditions that make your goals achievable all year long. You will learn how to create time for what matters, follow a process that fits the way you think, and anticipate the patterns that shape your progress. This framework applies to any goal you choose, from hitting your billable target to pursuing a new role to creating more balance in your life. As we celebrate another cycle around the sun, we may reflect on our place in that cycle. Days lengthen in the global North. Decay and hibernation feed new life into the approaching Spring. Likewise, we can release the actions, wishes, and aspetcs of ourselves that no longer serve us, In doing so, we can repurpose our energy to support our future Being. In today's meditation, we enter a new year as our new selves! This podcast is made possible with great thanks to our subscribers on Patreon. In today's episode, I discuss the importance of using milestones like the end of the year to assess progress and adjust our trajectory toward what we truly want. By comparing baselines from one year to the next, we can quantify the internal and external growth we've achieved. I explain how consistent daily practices, rooted in values like gratitude, forgiveness, accountability, and effective communication, create positive momentum. I also address why celebrating progress matters, how it prevents us from losing sight of good habits, and how it aligns us with a life of abundance and purpose. Embracing this approach ensures we move closer to our potential every day.
