What do shoppers actually want in 2026? Do brand vibe, culture, and ethos matter more than the clothes? Is experience-based fashion just better marketing? And what does “integrated fashion” look like when your wardrobe is built around music, sports, clubs, video games, vintage, coffee shops, and the internet? On this episode of Pair of Kings, Sol Thompson and Michael Smith break down the largest survey they've run on fashion preferences, shopping habits, and taste: 1,500+ responses on how people look for, select and justify clothing today. The duo use the season's thesis of “integrated fashion” to interrogate why brand culture matters, how shoppers decide between buying piece-by-piece vs building a full aesthetic, why brand storytelling still works, and what makes a fashion brand captivating enough to hold an audience. We get into Rick Owens, Kozaburo, Rolling Dub Trio, Lost Control cowboy boots, Undercover, Comme des Garçons, Celine, Hedi Slimane, CC41 wartime tailoring, vintage band tees, Bruce Springsteen shirts, KMFDM, Electronic Research Department / ERD, Daft Punk, and controversy-driven fashion marketing.Sol and Michael also discuss Everlane's sale to Shein, sustainability fatigue, ethical fashion, cost per wear, quality vs longevity, resale liquidity, wardrobe economics, consumer inequality, and why the modern fashion industry is selling lifestyles as much as clothing. Further, they ask what sparks the desire to buy: Honey Dijon at Coachella, Saturday Night Fever, The Batman motorcycle jackets, FKA twigs, Interplanetary Criminal, video games, old magazines, X-Files tees, Julian Carter, and archive fashion grails.Other topics include: NYC summer style, Havaianas and flip-flop discourse, Birkenstocks without socks, finance guys in Lululemon khakis and On Running shoes, Kangol hats, men's matching sets, white jeans, World Cup style, vintage soccer jerseys, Newcastle kits, Nike Total 90s, Puma Speedcats, Big Red Boots, brand pop-ups, shock drops, fashion coffee shops, Instagram style discovery, raves, punk shows, clubs, flea markets, Harajuku, Santee Alley, gay clubs, furries, online fashion communities, The Devil Wears Prada 2, whether good marketing can compensate for bad clothes. We hope you enjoy just as much as we did recording.Lots of love!Sol---Episode Tags: fashion podcast 2026, integrated fashion, fashion survey, menswear, streetwear, high fashion, archive fashion, shopping habits, brand culture, experience-based fashion, Rick Owens, Kozaburo, Everlane Shein, sustainable fashion, vintage fashion, World Cup jerseys, Nike Total 90, Puma Speedcat, Celine #fashion #fashionpodcast #rickowens #archivefashion TIMESTAMPS: 0:00 — Intro: 1,300+ Person Integrated Fashion Survey 1:09 — Sol & Michael Introduce the Episode 1:53 — New York Summer Fashion and the Style Reset 2:23 — Fit Check: Birkenstocks, Kapital Denim & Vintage Bruce Springsteen Tee 6:37 — KMFDM Shirt, Vintage T-Shirt Care & Washing Old Tees 7:14 — ERD Daft Punk Shirt, Vintage Resale & Controversial Fashion Marketing 11:42 — NYC Summer Style: Flip-Flops, Havaianas & Birkenstocks 16:27 — Finance Guy Fits: On Running, Lululemon Khakis & No-Show Socks 18:07 — Kangol Hats, Lower East Side Trends & One-Weekend Menswear Fads 20:22 — Matching Sets and Summer 2026 Menswear Predictions 21:16 — White Jeans, Vintage Soccer Jerseys & World Cup Style 25:05 — Everlane, Shein and the Future of Ethical Fashion 26:29 — Sustainability Fatigue and Rick Owens Sustainable Cotton 27:23 — Consumer Economics: Who Fashion Brands Actually Sell To 29:15 — AI Data Centers, Consumption and Environmental Cost 31:10 — Fashion Survey Begins: How Young Shoppers Buy Clothes 32:07 — Do Brand Vibe, Culture and Ethos Matter? 32:44 — Rick Owens, Kozaburo and Buying Into Brand Worlds 35:17 — Wardrobe Building: Piece-by-Piece vs Full Aesthetic 36:06 — Rick Owens Harness Boots and Buying in a Vacuum 40:03 — UJ Militaria, CC41 Wartime Blazer & Archive Menswear 43:00 — Brand Storytelling: Undercover, Sustainability and Fashion Narrative 45:24 — What People Consider Before Buying Clothes 46:14 — Cost Per Wear Debate 50:15 — Sustainability, Ethics, Price, Fit, Resale Liquidity & Durability 52:16 — What Makes People Want to Buy Clothing? 52:41 — Honey Dijon, Coachella, Saturday Night Fever & Cultural Inspiration 56:09 — CDG, Archive Fashion and Mental Catalogs of Grails 56:42 — FKA Twigs, Interplanetary Criminal, Video Games & Fashion Inspiration 57:39 — Do Fashion Influencers Actually Influence Fashion People? 59:38 — The Batman, Motorcycle Jackets & Style Obsession 1:01:13 — Hedi Slimane's Celine “The Dancing Kid” Beanie 1:03:15 — Experience-Based Fashion: Drops, Pop-Ups, Coffee Shops & Activations 1:06:02 — Influencer Gifting, Clothing Waste & FOMO Marketing 1:08:41 — Big Red Boots, Puma Speedcats & Hype Products That Disappear 1:10:01 — Nike Total 90, Slim Soccer Sneakers & Footwear Trends 1:10:20 — Where People Experience Fashion: Raves, Flea Markets, Clubs & Coffee Shops 1:13:37 — Instagram as a Fashion Scene and Style Discovery Tool 1:17:44 — Clubs, Raves and the Anti-Commercial Fashion Scene 1:19:04 — Song of the Week 1:21:58 — The Devil Wears Prada 2, Fashion Movies & Reboot Culture 1:26:37 — Speed Racer, Style Nostalgia & Closing Thoughts 1:26:59 — Outro #FashionPodcast, #Menswear, #Streetwear, #Fashion, #Style, #FashionCulture, #FashionCommunity, #FashionDiscussion, #FashionAnalysis, #FashionCommentary, #MensFashion, #MensStyle, #ArchiveFashion, #FashionArchive, #VintageFashion, #FashionHistory, #DesignerFashion, #LuxuryFashion, #FashionResearch, #FashionWriting, #IntegratedFashion, #FashionTheory, #FashionConsumer, #FashionShopping, #FashionTrends, #FashionIndustry, #FashionMarketing, #BrandCulture, #FashionConsumerBehavior, #FutureOfFashion, #RickOwens, #CommeDesGarcons, #Undercover, #HediSlimane Sol Thompson and Michael Smith explore the world and subcultures of fashion, interviewing creators, personalities, and industry insiders to highlight the new vanguard of the fashion world. CBC Books' very own “lit girl” and eagle eyed trend spotter Bridget Raymundo joins the show to talk about what happens when fashion cozies up to the book world. This week, we're serving side parts, statement necklaces, and just a light sprinkle of existential dread. In the Dumpster Fire Corner, we're talking hantavirus panic (but like… should we be panicking?), pouring one out for Spirit Airlines, and unpacking the latest chaos in election interference rhetoric that somehow keeps raising the bar. Then, we cleanse our souls with something truly important: millennial fashion making a comeback. That's right -- the side part lives, chunky necklaces are back, and twee fashion is once again haunting our closets. We're diving into what trends we're reclaiming, what we were too cowardly to wear the first time around, and whether thrifting culture is the real MVP behind this resurgence. Plus, we get personal—how has our style evolved, do we need a full rebrand, and what happens when you actually work with a stylist? (Laura has thoughts.) We wrap things up with recs to upgrade your wardrobe: Judy Blue jeans (Laura), Land's End t-shirts (Pam), and finding a way to accessorize the 90's Jazz solo design (Eric). Welcome to “Untucked: How a Fashion Trend Is Hiding a Health Crisis.” I want to talk about something that might be hanging in your closet right now: your favorite shirt you like to wear untucked.Over the last decade, the untucked look has become the go‑to style for men. Longer, looser, casually hanging over the belt. It's marketed as modern, relaxed, confident. But I believe, for many men, it's become something else: a Band‑Aid. A way to camouflage a growing waistline—and with it, a growing health crisis. As abdominal girth increases, so does visceral fat—the fat wrapped around your organs. And that's not just a cosmetic issue. It raises the risk of type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure, cardiovascular disease, stroke, fatty liver, and even kidney disease. Instead of a tight waistband or snug buttons being a wake‑up call to move more, eat better, and see a doctor, many men are quietly solving the problem by just sizing up and leaving the shirt untucked. The clothes get looser, the danger gets larger, and the warning signs get easier to ignore. The fashion industry isn't in the business of being the obesity police. Their job is to sell you what you'll buy. My job, as a physician who sees an overwhelming number of men with obesity‑related fatty liver disease, is to tell you what that extra fabric might really be hiding—and what it could cost you long term. This episode is a wake‑up call. Not to shame anyone's body, but to challenge the comfort of camouflage. The untucked shirt shouldn't be a shield against reality. It should be a reminder to check in on your health before chronic disease sets the terms. So let's pull back the fabric, look at what's really going on underneath, and talk about how to change the trajectory—while there's still time.Where to find Dr. Joe Galati and his team:Dr. Galati's newsletter sign-upMedical Practice: Liver Specialists of TexasDr. Galati's Book Site: Eating Yourself SickFacebook: Dr. Joe GalatiDr. Galati's YouTube ChannelPlease send feedback and suggestion. This week is basically a full holiday and beauty masterclass, and we didn't even leave the sofa. It's a listener Q&A special on the School Runway, and the questions this week are genuinely brilliant. From what to pack for Barbados and how to dress for a pool party hen do in Benidorm, to finding the perfect khaki dress for a wedding in Greece and what to wear for an evening event in a countryside pub — Cara and Bronagh cover the lot. Along the way there's a very important public health announcement about wet swimwear, a deep dive into the best concealers for dark circles, and the spring summer trends actually worth committing to. Fashion might feel fast and unpredictable, but research suggests it actually runs on a cycle. A study highlighted by Rhys Blakely in The Times supports the idea that trends tend to come back roughly every 20 years.By analysing over a century of clothing data, researchers found styles like hemlines rise and fall in a kind of rhythm, meaning what's out today could easily be back in fashion tomorrow. Even in today's fast-moving, social media-driven world, the takeaway is simple: don't throw it out just yet.Joining Seán to discuss is Cathy O'Connor, Fashion Stylist.
After 244 episodes of fashion debates, wardrobe dilemmas, trend predictions, and the occasional style confession, the Wisdom From the Wardrobe team takes a step back to look at the journey of the show itself. What began as a simple monthly conversation about clothes grew into a weekly exploration of fashion trends, personal style, wardrobe psychology, and the ever-changing relationship people have with getting dressed. Naturally, this episode begins in classic Wisdom From the Wardrobe fashion, with a slightly unexpected detour. Bec arrives armed with a Thera-Cane and the bold declaration that she may have been "born to be 80," which quickly leads to a lively discussion about the so-called Potato Shoe Theory. From Birkenstock Bostons to UGG slippers to foam-molded footwear that looks suspiciously like it may have been inspired by root vegetables, the team explores the rise of comfort-first fashion and the curious charm of "ugly-cute" shoes in the 2020s. From there the conversation turns toward the show itself and the many directions it has taken over the years. Along the way the team revisits memorable moments, spirited debates around the table, surprising fashion comebacks, and the universal wardrobe mystery of why we all seem to own at least one item we've never worn but absolutely refuse to part with. More than anything, this retrospective celebrates the conversations that made the show what it is: discussions about confidence, identity, creativity, and the small daily ritual of choosing how we present ourselves to the world through clothing. For the last couple of years, high fashion has been all about whispering. You know, quiet luxury, stealth wealth, all those muted tones that suggest you have money without having to shout about it. But if the runways for Spring/Summer 2026 are any indication, that whisper is about to become a roar.Become a guest on High Feels Podcast: https://highfeelspodcast.com/guestBook more modeling jobs by discovering the industry more with the Online Modeling Course: https://modelingmastercourse.com Questions or comments? Hey, friend! I'm so excited today. It's time for one of our favorite episodes of the year! We're diving deep into the 2026 spring fashion trends. If you've spent even five minutes scrolling Instagram or popping around YouTube lately, you might feel like you need an entirely new wardrobe this season. But you don't need to chase every trend. It's all about choosing the right ones. So I'm breaking down what's actually worth buying for your wardrobe right now… and what's probably better left on the runway. We'll talk about the most wearable silhouettes, the accessories that will instantly (and inexpensively) update your outfits, the colors that are dominating this season, and a few trends that are fun to watch, but a bit more impractical to wear. And most importantly, I'll share a simple filter to use to pinpoint which trends are right for you, so you can refresh your closet without wasting money or ending up with pieces you never wear. If you want to know which trends are actually worth adding this season — and which ones you can confidently skip — keep listening. Trends are always changing. So how do you actually stay ahead of them… without looking like you're trying too hard?In this episode of the Style Chat Podcast, stylists Sarah Liller and Tami DeLami pull back the curtain on how they track fashion trends in real time — and how you can too. From runway recaps and street style in Paris and New York to what's quietly showing up in your favorite stores, they share the exact clues they look for before a trend fully explodes. They talk about the 20-year fashion cycle (yes, the mid-2000s really are back), how to tell the difference between a flash-in-the-pan moment and something that's going to stick around, and why seeing a trend trickle from designer to mass market is a major signal. You'll hear their thoughts on barrel jeans, bootcuts, trending colors, unexpected fabrics, and the subtle styling shifts that often matter more than the item itself. But here's the twist: staying “on trend” isn't the goal.Sarah and Tami also dive into the part most people get wrong — blindly chasing trends that don't actually suit them. They share how to filter trends through your own body, lifestyle, and personal aesthetic so you look current without losing yourself. If you've ever wondered how stylists seem to know what's coming next — and how to participate in trends without feeling costume-y — this episode gives you the inside track.https://www.instagram.com/sarahlillerstyling/https://www.instagram.com/tami_sofia/

Outlouders, enjoy this free bite of Mia Freedman. Catch the full conversation — Oh Sh*t. We Let Creeps Decide Our Beauty Standards — at 5 pm TODAY. Not a subscriber yet? Put matters right HERE. When a newsletter has the internet in a chokehold, you better believe that Mia Freedman has to unpack it. And so it is with the recent Substack from Jameela Jamil. Writing from what Jamil calls the "funeral of the body positivity movement," she posits a theory that is as provocative as it is dark: that the obsession with extreme thinness, hairlessness, and agelessness isn't just about vanity — it’s a standard designed to mimic the aesthetics of children. Jessie and Holly join Mia to dive deep into the sinister framework of the 'sexy baby' trope, questioning why grown women are taught to spend their lives trying to get back to a body they had at thirteen. Is the 'Epstein-ness' of this current cultural moment exposing a wider fetishisation of youth among the world's most powerful men? Or is Jamil's critique of the homogenised look of our favourite female stars—from Sabrina Carpenter to Taylor Swift—unfairly judging their "sparkly underpants" choice? "Your body is not meant to look the same at 28 as it did at 18." Is it time to reclaim our waistlines, our wrinkles, and our right to look like grown-ass women? Mia has thoughts — and we're pretty sure you do too. Remember, this is your free sample of today's subs episode. The full debrief drops for subscribers at 5pm. What will fashion actually look like in 2026? More importantly, what will you really wear? In this episode of Glamour Farms: The Podcast, our host, Haley Klockenga is breaking down the 2026 style forecast with a focus on wearable trends, elevated basics, and realistic ways to refresh your wardrobe for the new year. From comfort-core and quiet luxury to the return of femininity and playful maximalist details, this conversation cuts through the noise and highlights what truly matters for everyday style. We talk about the rise of soft romantic silhouettes like lace, florals, and “coquette-lite” tones, how poetic-core is influencing fashion in a more grown-up way, and why fun denim is having a major moment. *cue the confetti* You'll also hear about standout trends like bold coats, Kelly green, khaki neutrals, perfume layering, and how nostalgia from the 1970s–1990s (yes, even 80s beauty) is shaping 2026 fashion. Plus, we're sharing what's officially on its way out... spoiler: skinny jeans, outdated color palettes, bland basics, and relying on graphic tees or leggings as pants to define your style. If you're looking for 2026 fashion trends you'll actually wear, practical style inspiration, and encouragement to be more adventurous with your wardrobe this year, this episode is the perfect place to start.
