We had the pleasure of interviewing Of Mice & Men over Zoom video! OF MICE & MEN first emerged as part of a vanguard of subculture alongside their contemporaries and tour mates in Bring Me The Horizon, A Day To Remember, Pierce The Veil, Asking Alexandria, and Dance Gavin Dance; and as a staple of the Vans Warped Tour and international rock festivals. They took home the Best International Newcomer price at the 2013 Kerrang! Awards and were twice nominated as Artist Of The Year at the APMAs, where Manansala took home Best Guitarist.Across a half dozen studio albums, including career redefining fan-favorite masterpiece Earthandsky and the No. 1 Billboard Independent Album Restoring Force, the group's combination of crowd-moving breakdowns, staccato rhythms, and soaring melodic vocals bridged the gap from the underground to the world at large. Songs like “Would You Still be There” and “Unbreakable” catapulted OF MICE & MEN onto massive tours with Linkin Park and Rise Against (2015); Slipknot and Marilyn Manson (2016); and Five Finger Death Punch and In Flames (2017).At every turn, no matter what obstacles presented themselves, the four men at the OF MICE & MEN core since 2016 never lost sight of the strength of their connection to the audience or each other. They refocused and persevered at every turn, delivering massive anthems that work in the most intimate of punk clubs, the biggest of European festivals, and American rock radio formats alike. So, when the 2020 pandemic ground the touring business to a halt, Pauley, Manansala, Ashby, and Arteaga turned inward and resolved to take advantage of the year to create. They expanded their home-studio setups, wrote together online, and self-produced their new music. Pauley, already an experienced producer, handled all of the mixing and mastering duties himself. The band's renowned spirit of determination, aggression, and musical excellence has never been more evident than on TIMELESS, the first of three EPs set for release in 2021, a sort of trilogy culminating in OF MICE & MEN's seventh full-length album before the year's end. Conceived in collaboration over platforms like Twitch and Zoom, in the midst of the pandemic, the California quartet's new music is their most impressive and expansive, without sacrificing any heaviness. “Obsolete,” “Timeless,” and “Anchor” take a special place in the ever-evolving OM&M song canon. We want to hear from you! It's been a productive year for Gold-selling hard rockers Of Mice & Men.The band kept busy during the 2020 lockdown by writing and recording what was set to be a series of EP's and singles. The band have recently released the album ‘Echo', which is is comprised of the previously issued Timeless and Bloom EPs, along with the new and final Ad Infinitum EP.The album was entirely self-produced by the band and mixed and mastered by vocalist Aaron Pauley with the records lyrical concepts reflecting on a tumultuous and disconnected time and the attempt of finding genuine human connections through it all.The Everblack Podcast caught up with Of Mice & Men's Aaron Pauley to talk about the collection of EP's that resulted in ‘Echo', the lyrical concepts, their personal experience opening for Linkin Park and how the band treated them, upcoming music and more!Of Mice & Men - ‘Echo' is out now via SharpTone Records Get the album hereOr Buy local physical here***EVERBLACK PODCAST***SUBSCRIBE and STREAM HERE: https://linktr.ee/EverblackPodcastwww.everblack.com.auwww.facebook.com/Everblackmedia Thanks to : Deathwish Hotrods & KustomsRW Promotion Blacklight AD Screenprinting Electric WitchEverblack intro theme by Jaymes Jackson
Of Mice & Men just put out their 7th studio album entitled 'Echo.' The album itself is made up of 3 different E.P.s all put out during the pandemic. Add a few more songs and they had a ready-made album. An album made during a pandemic and done 100 percent remotely. Oh, and parts of it were made while live-streaming on Twitch. Yeah, we thought that was pretty cool too, which is why it's high time to get heavy and talk some metal.
This week Gabe and Matt drag the nets through the 7th album release from metal core mainstays Of Mice & Men. They also talk wrapping up the year and the new album from technocore band The Browning.
With the recent release of their latest album Echoes, California metal outfit Of Mice & Men also wrapped up a trilogy of releases that, if loosely described, is a three part story of loss, grief and recovery.Of course, as with all great bands and their music, there is much more substance to the musical chapters than what is evident on the surface.Written and released separately and in chronologic order, Timeless, Bloom, and Ad Infinitum were each released separately over a ??? year span, with the release of Ad Infinitum on December 3 also seeing all three EP's released together as the full album Echo.It is a personal journey on many levels for the members of the band, two of which suffered loss of their own during the cycle, and one which can be enjoyed both on face value or as a combined body of work.Vocalist and bass player Aaron Pauley called HEAVY during the week to go through the series of E.P's and the completed cycle. We started by asking if the completion of the trilogy of E.P's felt like the end of an emotional journey."It doe,” he measured. “It feels sort of like a season finale of a show that you've been working on all year and it gives fans, not only the opportunity to go back and experience the whole thing as a collective of work, but it gives us, as the creators, the ability to go back and live that year again in review and try and get a full grasp of the totality of what were we really saying? What were we writing about? It's a very unique experience this go around and it's one that's very, very intrinsically rewarding. It feels very nice. It feels... even before it dropped it felt like mission accomplished and the fact it's connecting with so many people - and not just in a way of people thinking it's great or it sounds cool or badass - but the fact that people can really resonate with the music. There's really nothing like it.”The release of Ad Infinitum also saw the packaging together of the E.P's into one cohesive unit, but the scope and impact of that final E.P could easily, and unfortunately, be lost in the hype surrounding the full album."It picks up after Bloom leaves off,” Pauley explained. “During the creation of Bloom my mother in law passed away and then towards the end of it Tino's mum - our drummer - passed away and that record was very, very filled with grief and pain and the dichotomy between the beauty of knowing such a great love, and just the pain of that great loss. Ad Infinitum, I feel like, is the moment of existential reckoning that you have with yourself after experiencing loss like that and pondering where you fit in in the greater scheme of your life and your community and where you fit in in history and all of those things. All of the existential questionings that we have ourselves. usually in moments of great vulnerability, but I feel like during the pandemic more and more people had those conversations with themselves because we were in a place where you're forced to stop and evaluate."In the full interview Aaron dives deeper into Ad Infinitum, breaks down each E.P and the meaning behind them, why each release was recorded as separate entities and not in one go, the artwork of each E.P and their significance, and the reasons why the band decided to release each of separately before releasing them all together as an album.

Metalcore legends Of Mice & Men are back with the brand new EP ‘Timeless’, the first in a trilogy recorded by the band themselves after signing with their new label Sharptone Records. We sat down with Of Mice & Men frontman and bass player Aaron Pauley to talk about the ‘Timeless’ EP and the trilogy it is a part of, signing with Sharptone Records, his secrets to recording the perfect vocal sound and home recording without annoying his neighbours, touring and the experience of playing massive stages around the world and more!Of Mice & Men - ‘Timeless’ is OUT NOW via Sharptone Records : http://shrptn.co/timeless***EVERBLACK PODCAST***SUBSCRIBE and STREAM HERE: https://linktr.ee/EverblackPodcastwww.everblack.com.auwww.facebook.com/Everblackmedia Thanks to : RW Promotion Blacklight AD Screenprinting Electric WitchEverblack theme and intro by Wade Norris from Our Last Enemy
Of Mice & Men are one of those bands who refuse to conform to the whims and desires of an industry that is ultimately there to serve them.Their music is truly an expression of life verses art and is the anthesis of conventional acceptance. In the modern age where less is more, Of Mice & Men are adapting somewhat, preferring to release a multitude of EP’s rather than take the time to commit to a full album, an initiative that frontman Aaron Pauley agrees is essential in the current times."We just like releasing music," he enthused. "That's the main reason why we decided to release three EP's at least, because for us it's a shorter duration of time. A shorter lag time between when we can create an EP's worth of material; a small snapshot in time, and get that ready for release. It's a much shorter amount of time and lag time than when you have to create and curate an entire album's worth of material. It just keeps it fresh and allows us to release new music all year long."In the full interview, Aaron talks us through the three songs on the Timeless EP, releasing new music in general, making visualisers to tie in with the music, writing during lockdown and drawing inspiration, his transition from bassist and back up singer to frontman of the band and more.

Together with American Songwriter we had the pleasure of interviewing Bloodbather over Zoom video! Broward County, Florida-based metal band Bloodbather — Kyler Millo [vocals, bass] and Salem Vex [guitar, synths] — released their new EP Silence via Rise Records."'Silence' is about being manipulated for a long time and realizing it, but not really having the power to retaliate at the time, which then pressures you to become stronger to overcome this oppressive figure," Kyler shares about the uncompromisingly brutal track.Bloodbather were recently christened an "Artist You Need To Know" by Revolver, which lauded the band's ability to craft "nasty, gnarly metallic hardcore rendered all the more suffocating by layers of industrial texture" and featured them in a multi-page spread. Formed in 2018, Bloodbather stormed out of the gates with the independent EP Pressure. The release has since amassed 666k Spotify streams — how metal! — as the group built its live reputation by sharing the stage with everyone from Whitechapel to Carnifex to Of Mice & Men, and by appearing at the notable This Is Hardcore festival.Bloodbather enjoyed early praise from the tastemakers at Invisible Oranges, who stated that the band "swings their music like a battle-axe into naysayer faces, living up to their namesake with flying crimson colors." They earned additional acclaim from SVBTERRANEAN, which proclaimed them "one of the newer bands to embrace and reformulate the angst-ridden, chunky metalcore of old, and one of the newer bands to do it right." Bloodbather signed with Rise Records in 2019 and subsequently hit the studio in Tennessee alongside producer Tate Mercer [Better Off, Chamber, Hampton].Armed with a take-no-prisoners approach and an EP that leaves an indelible mark, Bloodbather are on the verge of becoming one of heavy metal's next big things. The band will most certainly appeal to fans of Code Orange, Knocked Loose, and Vein.We want to hear from you! This week on the podcast I wanted to chat with the incredibly talented Danny Todd about what it has been like to watch and capture the rise of bands like Of Mice & Men with a camera. He went from a SoCal resident to a freelance touring content creator thanks to a chance he was given to go on tour with Of Mice & Men, which led to work with Woe, Is Me, Miss May I, and more. His first tour he was spoiled and got to ride in a bus, which I think is so freakin cool! What an experience that must have been! If you're an up and coming photographer that is looking for tips and tricks for getting into the music industry you should definitely check this episode of Project Freelance out! It's a banger! Danny also runs The Danny Toddcast, a podcast similar to mine, where he has different guests on to chat about their lives and jobs. Check it out! On this week’s episode, I am joined by Cory Reeder of Renaissance Man Productions. Cory’s path is unlike any other filmmaker I have met - After building a successful career in Orange County working in the music scene, he moved to Los Angeles and started over from scratch. This meant taking work as a PA before he could climb his way back up to the role of director & producer full time. Cory’s tenacity has led him to find amazing success with his work, which has involved creating music video content for some incredible rock bands. Jonathan Davis (Korn), Seether, Of Mice & Men, and Five Finger Death Punch are just a few of the amazing groups he’s worked with in recent years. Over the course of this interview we chat about Cory’s unique career path, his production work, advice for filmmakers, and his involvement with the Easterseals disability challenge - An organization that promotes the involvement of disabled individuals in front of and behind the camera. Cory Reeder is a writer, director, producer and founder of Renaissance Man Productions. Since moving his company to Los Angeles in 2011, he has been creating music videos for Hayley Kiyoko, Seether, Martin Solveig, Of Mice & Men, Five Finger Death Punch, and more. In between music video productions, Cory is devoted to directing narrative stories. In 2014, while directing the award-winning short film Unlikely Temptations starring Nic Novicki, Reeder was educated on the lack of representation people with disabilities have in media. Since then he has focused his efforts on all forms of inclusion behind and in front of the camera. In 2016, his film Boxed Out won actress Diana Elizabeth Jordan the Best Actor Award from the Easter Seals Disability Film Challenge. In 2017, his entry: Best Friend, was nominated in all categories taking home two awards for Best Film and Audience Awareness Award. Cory is currently writing Best Friend into a feature-length screenplay and looking to have it produced this fall. Additional works in development are the indie feature Amboy and the sitcom Shenanigans.

In September 1993 actor Gary Sinise, fresh off of the triumph of directing his film adaptation of Of Mice Men, was being fitted for a long-haired wig to shoot scenes as the disabled veteran Lt. Dan Taylor in the movie Forrest Gump. The film’s runaway success, both at the box office and the Academy Awards of course brought Sinise acclaim as a performer, but he found that when he visited veteran’s groups they naturally identified him with the inspiring figure of the wounded Marine officer. Less than ten years later, in the aftermath of the 9-11 attacks, Sinise cast around for a way to connect to and contribute to the sacrifices of US fighters on the front lines — and the journey into a thoroughgoing commitment to the work of supporting veterans and active duty service people is the through line of Sinise's brand new memoir Grateful American: A Journey from Self to Service. He sat down with us on the eve of publication to talk about the path from founding Chicago’s Legendary Steppenwolf Theater Company to his career in film and television — and his current work helming the many projects of the Gary Sinise Foundation.

Corey Craig and Cool Beans Comedy catch up with the hilarious Tony Baker backstage at the Ice House Comedy Club in Pasadena, CA - where magic happens! Born Anthony C. Baker in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Tony and his family quickly moved back to the city of Chicago where he was raised on the south side. His passion for film started at a very early age and stayed with him throughout his life. While attending New Mexico State University his creative ideas were brought to the forefront while writing and directing films with his colleagues just for the love of it. His comedic skills developed while hosting pageants, talent shows, and fund-raising events on the NMSU campus. His love for theater developed when he made his stage debut in the University production of “Of Mice & Men” in which he received his first acting award. After bringing his acting talents to the stage he knew that it was time to make the dream a reality and uprooted his family to California to pursue a career in acting and stand up comedy.* Source.* **Music provided by bensound.com.
