Jordan Soderholm is co-founder and chief growth officer of Ranger Station, an American heritage fragrance brand founded in 2015 with husband Steve Soderholm, and founder of Nashville Candle + Supply, a private label and custom candle manufacturing company established in 2021.  A native of Knoxville, Tennessee, Jordan came to Nashville in 2009 to study marketing and fashion merchandising at Belmont University. During her sophomore year of studies, Jordan began a full-time position at ABLE, which was then a start-up fashion brand and social enterprise supporting women in Africa through the creation of leather handbags and accessories. She stayed with the company through graduation and for a decade, minus a two-year hiatus as an independent wardrobe stylist, working her way from intern to fashion director and helping to establish the global brand it is today. Along the way, Jordan was watching Steve dabble in candle making while home between gigs as a touring professional drummer. Her keen business sense and entrepreneurial spirit helped recognize the business potential in the hobby and she worked after hours to help Steve get the brand off the ground in 2015. In 2021, she left ABLE to work with Ranger Station full time and to take the brand to the next level. It was then that she also founded Nashville Candle + Supply, a boutique private label and custom candle manufacturing company with clients worldwide.  Today, Ranger Station is growing rapidly but thoughtfully. Ranger Station products are available for purchase from retail partners across the United States, Canada and the UK, as well as their flagship store in Nashville's 12South neighborhood opened in July 2023. Ranger Station also unveiled its first artist collaboration in the summer of 2023 with Noah Kahan, the folk singer/songwriter from New England, to bring to life his third LP, “Stick Season” – a candle that sold out in a record 24 hours with over 1,000 people on the waitlist. Collaborations with ERNEST, The Band Camino, Lauren Akins and Thomas Rhett and NEEDTOBREATHE followed, with others in the works. The brand has been featured in Esquire, Cosmopolitan, Architectural Digest, Cowboys & Indians, Byrdie, WWD, Who What Wear, The Strategist, PEOPLE, Southern Living, Billboard and countless other publications.   Aside from Ranger Station, Jordan chases around her two young children with Steve, and enjoys gardening, reading and styling through her Substack “You didn't ask.” and other endeavors. We're in studio with Games We Play! Just off the heels of his debut album Life's Going Great, and supporting Fall Out Boy's massive arena tour, Games We Play a.k.a Emmyn Calleiro is in Boston, wrapping up his biggest headline tour to date!Games We Play sat down with Music You're Missing host Brendan Jeannetti to discuss his journey on the road for nearly 3 months, the process of crafting his debut LP, Girl Shaped Crater, performing at coveted venues such as Red Rocks and Madison Square Garden, connecting with fans through his vulnerable lyrics, and he even took the time to answer some of his biggest fans' questions!MORE ON DEBUT ALBUM, LIFE'S GOING GREATLife's Going Great sees Emmyn confront the emotional whiplash of his early 20s. In less than two short years he went viral, signed to his dream record label, found a mentor in Fall Out Boy bassist Pete Wentz, and toured the world supporting his idols (YUNGBLUD, Fall Out Boy, All Time Low, The Band CAMINO). Simultaneously his personal life came crashing down -- he went through a major breakup, left Los Angeles and returned home to Nashville to live with his parents, and struggled with self-image. These highs and lows formed the basis of Life's Going Great. The album was originally set to arrive last year, but as things began taking a turn for the better again, Emmyn realized it wasn't done, and decided to go back to the studio to finish telling the full story. Now, with introspection and a tad less sarcasm, life really is going great for Emmyn. Recorded across London, Nashville, and Los Angeles with creative kindred spirit and producer Larry Hibbitt (Marmozets, Nothing But Thieves, Dinosaur Pile-Up), the album continues to showcase Emmyn's quick wit and aptitude for anthemic pop-punk song-craft.FOLLOW GAMES WE PLAY: Gamesweplay.coTikTokInstagramFOLLOW MUSIC YOU'RE MISSING:Musicyouremissing.orgMYM TikTokMYM InstagramBrendan Jeannetti InstagramMusic You're Missing is a top music podcast based in Boston Massachusetts. An Inside Look at the Making of 21 Ways My Life Is Great with Eric Paquette

The Talk of Fame Podcast got to talk with  Eric Paquette! “21 Ways My Life Is Great” out April 19th 2024, is the second single from YOUTHYEAR - the moniker of Eric Paquette, a Nashville based artist, songwriter, and producer. YOUTHYEAR has collaborated with alt giants Lit, Dashboard Confessional, Letdown, and Michigander along with Butch Walker, Desmond Child, Colin Brittain, members of No Doubt and more. YOUTHYEAR's debut single “Basement” was the first step outside of the writer/producer chair and into the artist spotlight.  YOUTHYEAR & rock legend Carlo Colasacco (Shinedown, Sueco) co-wrote and co-produced the song which features a music video that tips its hat to Nirvana's “In Bloom'' and Weezer's “Buddy Holly'' videos and their satirical portrayal of the late ‘50s early ‘60s. Sonically the song also draws influence from both bands and the more melodic side of grunge and pop-rock of the ‘90s. Upbeat and all-things-alt-rock, it's bursting with bright melodies that sit next to melodic powerhouse classics like The All American Rejects and new acts like The Band Camino. Late ‘90s icon Ajay Popoff of the band Lit (My Own Worst Enemy) joined in on group vocals as well as makes a feature in the music video, co-directed by Nick Stafford (All Time Low, Charlotte Sands, Boys Like Girls) and YOUTHYEAR who also co-styled the video.  Lyrically “21 Ways My Life Is Great” is a “so glad it's finally over” breakup song that captures the explosive joy of finally being free of a toxic relationship.``Guess my mom was right ‘about your type” is just one of the playful ways'' Eric is grateful to be onto better things. Bottom line, there are no regrets over the breakup in this song. “‘Stumbled into guitar' is a good way of putting our start with the instrument. [Spencer Stewart] and I formed the band in 2015 and that's when I got my first electric guitar,” admits The Band CAMINO's vocalist and guitarist Jeffery Jordan. That sort of sideways T-bone collision into guitardom allows this pop-minded duo to avoid typical tonal tropes like worrying about tubes versus modeling, or imports versus custom. Their focus was and continues to be translating their danceable melodies into guitar-driven rompers and producing the best live show possible.“We definitely enjoyed a pedalboard-and-amp-era of the band, but the tech has come so far and we're able to eliminate so much room for error and potential inconsistencies, allowing for a freer performance,” adds Jordan. As we quickly found out in our Rundown with Jordan and Stewart, the band's approach favors execution over exhibitionism. In mid-September, just before the band commenced their headlining Screaming in the Dark tour, in support of the just-released The Dark album, co-frontmen and dueling guitarists Jeffery Jordan and Spencer Stewart invited PG's Chris Kies to rehearsal for a gear talk. The main chauffeurs of CAMINO explained how grabbing guitar later in life allowed them to avoid a lot of gear gossip and find tonal solutions that enrich their performances. Plus, they both discuss the stable of studs from Fender, Gibson, and Epiphone that give bounce and beauty to their merging of indie-rock and electropop.Brought to you by D'Addario XPND.

We had the pleasure of interviewing Knox Zoom video!Nashville based singer/songwriter Knox recently released his vibrant debut EP and announced his signing with Atlantic Records.EP track “NYC” also receives an official music video, which made its broadcast premiere on MTV Live, MTVU and MTV Biggest Pop today. “Sneakers,” another EP track that was released last year, has proven a huge success already, racking up nearly 2M TikTok views overnight and 16M streams and counting.Growing up in Ohio, Knox's whole existence before he ever wrote a song was playing basketball, soundtracked by artists such as Fall Out Boy, Panic! At the Disco, All-American Rejects, Lil Wayne, Drake and Ed Sheeran. The summer before he started at Ohio University, Knox finally picked up a guitar. He learned everything in those few months, self-taught through YouTube videos. Knox began playing open mic nights and by his sophomore year, his musical ambitions were so all-consuming that he dropped out of school, moved in with his grandma and began saving up money to start his life in Nashville. He made the leap in January 2019.Knox used covid isolation time to work on his craft. His focus paid off: his songs caught the attention of John Harvie, who placed a few on his album, as well as Harvie's label. Knox signed a publishing deal in 2022 but was struck with the urge to record a collection of songs he had been working on. The final result was How to Lose a Girl in 7 Songs, Knox's debut EP. With his own songs ready, he now needed to build a fanbase. Knox began filming TikToks featuring his song “Sneakers, and one amassed nearly two million views overnight. “Sneakers” has since reached over 16 million streams.Knox has since started to get on the road, opening for the Band Camino and Boys Like Girls (an emo staple he grew up with). “I'm six states away from home and there's a thousand people in the audience that are singing the song that I wrote with my friends in my bedroom,” he recalls. “And that's when it gets you, when you see real people genuinely connecting to something that I made with my best friends. It's the most unreal feeling in the world.”We want to hear from you! Please email Hello@BringinitBackwards.com.www.BringinitBackwards.com#podcast #interview #bringinbackpod #Knox #Sneakers #HowToLoseAGirlin7Songs #NewMusic #ZoomListen & Subscribe to BiBhttps://www.bringinitbackwards.com/follow/ Follow our podcast on Instagram and Twitter! https://www.facebook.com/groups/bringinbackpod

Today on Too Opinionated we sit down with the band, socialghosts! With sonic landscapes, purposeful lyrics and compelling melodies, socialghosts is a Los Angeles indie rock trio. Blending stylistic influences like The Band CAMINO, The 1975, and The Maine with the iconic sounds of The Beatles and The Beach Boys, socialghosts breathes new life into their music with a unique approach. The band's current repertoire of music has been entirely self-produced, written, recorded and mixed. This includes their first single, “Malibu,” a take-no-prisoners track that combines beach-like textures with a “plug in and go” approach. Even without the backing of a label, the band has already secured major alternative radio play, notably Santa Barbara's 92.9 KJEE. The most recent single, “Puzzle in the Dark,” a danceable, catchy indie-pop track, also received radio play; the official music video dropped in January 2022. socialghosts is a collaboration between songwriters Connor Daniel (Vocals/Guitar/Bass), Sean Embrey-Stine (Vocals/Keys), and Dhruva Krishna (Drums/Guitar). Since 2019, the trio has been writing and recording at their studio. The group is currently working on new music and is planning out shows for 2022. Quince Questions?
Ep. 173 Ben Dehan

Quince Questions?

Play Episode Listen Later Dec 12, 2021 58:52

Ben DeHan creates a unique sound somewhere between Machine Gun Kelly and Angels & Airwaves. His meticulously programmed beats, LoFi keyboards, and singalong choruses have drawn comparisons to artists like the 1975 & The Band Camino, while the use of acoustic guitars and a “wear your heart on your sleeve” vocal performance will feel right at home for fans of 90's pop/rock and New Alt in the vane of Valley or THE WLDLFE. Melancholically optimistic lyrics and the haunting swells of a cello accompaniment make it easy to connect with a litany of catharsis, joy, & introspection. The distorted guitars of his pop-punk influences have been traded for atmospheric string arrangements and the intentional space left in production is filled with a vocal performance oozing with a pop sensibility. Whether it's a trip to the beach or driving through the mountains, these are songs to roll the windows down, sing out loud, and make memories too. Something nostalgic but new, his music becomes a life soundtrack. As a member of the Baltimore-based pop-punk band American Diary, Ben cut his teeth playing the 2008 Warped Tour. Feeling despondent in a broken scene, line-up changes, and upside-down record deals, Ben took a hiatus from the music business before re-emerging as a solo artist. Equipped with a DIY work ethic and a decade more of life experiences, Ben came out the other side with a greater appreciation and love for the records he grew up with and the process it took to make them. What had started with an acoustic guitar and hundreds of voice memos became fleshed out arrangements with the help of girlfriend/collaborator/cellist Lauren White. Together they enlisted the help of producer Sam Pura (The Dangerous Summer, The Story So Far) to help find the sound that would bring their ideas to life. Littered with Catharsis, Joy, and Introspection, his songs connect on an emotional level. Something nostalgic but new, his music becomes a life soundtrack. Valley is a Canadian indie pop group based in Toronto built up of Rob Laska on vocals, Michael (Mickey) Brandolino on guitar, Alex Dimauro on bass and Karah James on drums and vocals. “Like 1999” follows the smash EP, sucks to see you doing better, which Valley released last year and includes the honest banger, “hiccup” (which gathered 200,000 streams in the first 48 hours) and “nevermind.” With only two other self-written, self-produced, debut releases under their belt (including their EP This Room Is White and full-length MAYBE), the band has collected nearly 71 million streams on Spotify alone, a 2020 JUNO Award Nomination, support slots with Lennon Stella and The Band Camino on sold out North American tours in 2019, and a confirmed support billing with LovelyTheBand once the tour world reopens. We want to hear from you! Goed en slecht nieuws: een extra lange aflevering van KINK Fast, vol met de beste nieuwe poppunk (Silverstein, All Time Low, Neck Deep en Stand Atlantic) en lekkere klassiekers (Millencolin, Sum 41, Lit en Hoobastank). Daarnaast twee concertrecensies: Jochem vertelt alles over de show van Sum 41 in AFAS Live, Jurre was bij The Band CAMINO. Veel nieuwe muziek van Nederlands talent plus een grappig weetje over All Time Low en... Britney Spears?! Het slechte nieuws: dit is (voorlopig) de laatste KINK Fast. SAD!
