After more than three years of bloody stalemate, Ukraine has launched unprecedented strikes deep into Russian territory—destroying nearly a third of Russia's strategic bomber fleet and targeting the crucial Kerch Bridge to Crimea. Now, Trump's peace push may now be stalled—not by Ukraine, but by Putin himself. With over $400 billion in Western aid already spent and millions of lives disrupted, is the war entering a more dangerous phase? Victor Davis Hanson examines this latest development on today's episode of “Victor Davis Hanson: In His Own Words.” “ Just when we thought the war might have some type of conciliation or armistice, Ukraine struck in a way that it had never done before and it was very effective. “  There was a drone attack on the Kerch Bridge, that only link, really, that's accessible for easy transport from mainland Russia into the Crimea. It's essential. … It shows you that Ukraine is now kind of having a turtle strategy. It's not going to waste its limited manpower slugging it out. But it's going to use drones and it's going to make over a million of them.”

Edition No150 | 03-06-2025 - We'll come to the extraordinary strike on the Kerch Bridge in a minute, but there has also been significant development in the so-called peace process. Or rather the mask has slipped, and Russia's true purpose in engaging in the Istanbul process has been made abundantly clear by vodka-soaked political thug, Medvedev, Russia's former one-term president. Russia has a talent for undermining its own cause and position. Just as Ukraine's daring attacks may have led to it being blamed for ‘sabotaging' the so-called peace talks, Russia ruins what could have been an effective political propaganda campaign. Former President and Prime Minister of Russia, Dmitri Medvedev says the quiet part out loud, that Russia seeks victory, not compromise, in the talks with Ukraine. Medvedev, known for his incendiary and fascistic, genocidal outbursts on Twitter, said on Tuesday that the point of holding peace talks with Ukraine was to ensure a swift and complete Russian victory."The Istanbul talks are not for striking a compromise peace on someone else's delusional terms but for ensuring our swift victory and the complete destruction of the neo-Nazi regime," Medvedev, the deputy chairman of Russia's Security Council said on Telegram. ----------Links: https://www.reuters.com/world/europe/medvedev-says-russia-seeks-victory-not-compromise-talks-with-ukraine-2025-06-03/https://www.pravda.com.ua/eng/news/2025/06/3/7515358/https://www.theguardian.com/world/2025/jun/03/ukraine-hits-bridge-linking-crimea-to-russia-with-underwater-explosiveshttps://kyivindependent.com/breaking-ukraines-sbu-strikes-crimean-bridge-in-underwater-attack/https://kyivindependent.com/operation-spiderweb-everything-we-know-about-ukraines-audacious-attack-on-russias-heavy-bombers/----------SUMMER FUNDRAISERSNAFO & Silicon Curtain community - Let's help help 5th SAB together https://www.help99.co/patches/nafo-silicon-curtain-communityWe are teaming up with NAFO 69th Sniffing Brigade to provide 2nd Assault Battalion of 5th SAB with a pickup truck that they need for their missions. It was a busy weekend in the waters off of Ukraine and Russia. The Ukrainians hit—for the second time—the Kerch Bridge, which connects the Russian mainland with occupied Crimea. The Russians, meanwhile, announced that they are not renewing the Black Sea Grain Initiative, the complex agreement by which Ukraine has managed to export grain through the port of Odessa. What do we know about what happened on the Kerch Bridge? How big a deal is it? Is it connected to the Russian withdrawal from the grain initiative? And what does the scotching of the Black Sea Grain Initiative mean for the Ukrainian economy? To chew it all over, Lawfare Editor-in-Chief Benjamin Wittes sat down with Dmitri Alperovitch of Silverado Policy Accelerator and the Geopolitics Decanted podcast, and Mykhailo Soldatenko, a visiting researcher at the Harvard Law School and an international lawyer who has written for Lawfare about the Black Sea Grain Initiative. Last month, on his way back to Great Britain, MintPress contributor Kit Klarenberg was detained and interrogated. The investigative journalist was met at the airport by six anonymous plainclothes counter-terror officers, who seized his electronic devices, and memory cards and took his fingerprints and DNA. Under Schedule Three, Section Four of the U.K. 2019 Counter-Terrorism and Border Act, they grilled him for over five hours, asking probing questions on everything from his opinions on the current British leadership to Vladimir Putin to 9/11.For Klarenberg, the real reason he was being targeted had nothing to do with terrorism and everything to do with his investigative reporting that has exposed the machinations of the British state. In recent months, this has included revealing that British spies plotted to bomb the Kerch Bridge in Crimea, how the U.K. government is constructing a “secret terror army” in Ukraine, and how British intelligence seemingly worked with state broadcaster, the BBC to smear anti-war academics. While the United Kingdom continues to enjoy a reputation for being an island of relative freedom, prosperity and democracy, Klarenberg challenged this idea, pointing to several Draconian laws passed under the guise of keeping the public safe. As he told Adley: Britain has, for a very long time, had the most sweeping counter-terror laws in the Western world and arguably in the world. They have overturned centuries-old and hard-fought-for rights, protections and freedoms that average citizens enjoy, and have granted police sweeping and disturbingly vague powers.” Klarenberg's reporting has also uncovered many connections between established corporate media and the U.K. national security state, to the point where it is sometimes hard to ascertain where one ends and the other begins. As he said:For many, the Klarenberg case seems eerily reminiscent of the treatment of another journalist forgotten by his mainstream colleagues: of Julian Assange. Assange remains confined in Belmarsh high-security prison in London while British authorities negotiate with their American counterparts on whether to send him stateside. What is clear is that critical investigative journalism is under attack and that those who value a free press must stand together to fight against it.Support the showMintPress News is a fiercely independent. Russian information operations are designed to accentuate and exaggerate the effects of war, but their strategies have been changing since the attack on the Kerch Bridge. Whereas Russian disinformation sources previously sought to spread confusion over their interference in Ukraine, now they use messaging to play up their military attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure and civilians. From supporting the strategy of plausible deniability, Russian info ops are now wielded as a terror weapon, to project their ability to threaten, manipulate, coerce, and of course to exaggerate their ability and willingness to project extreme violence and inflict economic chaos on their adversaries. Adam Ure is a Russia and Ukraine specialist in security, disinformation, strategic communications, and open-source exploitation. He provides consultancy and policy advocacy to Governments (at most-senior levels) and other institutions and organisations. Adam was Head of Counter Disinformation Capability and Assessment at the Open-Source Unit at FCDO, part of the UK Civil Service, where he led a unit building the UK Government's ability to leverage open-source intelligence in foreign policy work. He has also worked as an Expert Analyst for the United States Federal Government, where he led the OSE Central Asia account and briefed senior government customers on issues relating to Central Asia, Russia, and the Former Soviet Union. I am the child of the cold war. Our movies were Red Dawn, War Games, Spies Like Us, and Stripes, just to name a few.  We practiced duck and cover, and we had fallout shelters in the basements of our schools. The threat of nuclear war was always there, and the fear was real. Since the fall of the Soviet Union, nuclear war has become a conversation only old people talked about.  Russia and China became friends with the United States, and we worked together to end the talk of Mutual Assured Destruction (MAD). At a White House Press Conference this week, Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre nonchalantly said, “we continue to call out Putin with what he is doing with the nuclear strikes”  She then moved to other questions without a second thought. NATO defense ministers will gather this week. One topic of discussion is the risk that Russian President Vladimir Putin might use nuclear weapons in Europe. Putin and the Russian military launched missile attacks against Ukraine's civilian population center in response to the truck bombing of the Kerch Bridge, reinforcing the notion that the Kremlin remains unpredictable. The world is starting to forget the realities of nuclear weapons.Since the Russian takeover of the Crimean peninsula in  2014, the region has seen an exodus of ethnic Ukrainians and Tatars and an influx of Russians, including a military buildup.Putin perceives Crimea as closer to the core of Russian vital interests than the Kharkiv region, which was recently liberated by Ukrainian forces. If and when Ukrainian conventional military forces approach Crimea in hopes of liberating it, According to military pundits and foreign affairs experts Putin may feel more tempted to use a nuclear weapon. In North America, the threat may not be direct. However, The potential Russian use of nuclear weapons demands at least thinking through possible responses. The American military began to study this threat shortly after Putin's forces invaded Ukraine. Now is the time to discuss the impacts on the civilian population rather than waiting until a crisis moment. The other consideration we need to explore is how a Russian Nuclear strike would push NATO into war. Although the current US administration has been vague on how they would react, it is likely to bring the full force of the Alliance down upon the beleaguered Russian military.  This could prompt the involvement of China, Iran, and Syria into action, with support from Venezuela and Cuba. What Are the Next Steps? What might the menu of the next steps include? This summer New York City's Office of Emergency Management produced a public service announcement advising residents how to survive a nuclear attack. And after some questioned the advisory's timing, The City administration defended its action. According to OEM officials, the campaign's goal is to inform the public on ways to stay safe if nuclear weapons were pointed in New York's direction. This harkened to the Duck and Cover days of the 1950s Civil Defense Burt the Turtle campaign. I must admit that I wondered what the Adams administration knew that the rest of the United States did not. I don't think they were wrong to produce such a PSA today.  FEMA's Ready.gov site does have a page dedicated to a nuclear explosion, offering solid advice on what to do if you're in the vicinity of one. This is not an archive page or old information and has been updated, and it notes the pandemic could cause some problems when finding shelter. The page suggests bringing items to protect yourself and your family from COVID-19, such as masks and hand sanitizer if you are evacuated. As of the writing of this piece, only New York City has taken any measures to prepare its population for a nuclear strike. We are a profession that has come from Civil Defense, and I wrote a piece about “Should We Revisit Civil Defense?” I was asking if we should use programs that the CD used for community preparedness. Maybe I was on to something bigger? PodcastsThe Todd DeVoe ShowSteps You Need To Create a Process for Crisis ManagementWhen a natural or human-caused disaster occurs, the process of how the situation is handled sets the tone of response and recovery. The goal of crisis/disaster management is to respond quickly and effectively to minimize damage and position your organization or jurisdiction for recovery once the crisis has passed.A successful process is proactive. In this case, it is likely to take several years, as happened after Katrina destroyed Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi in 2005.Of course, these costs do not count lives lost or human misery, such as the number of people left without power or clean water….Law Enforcement and the Incident Command System: Consider Cultural Bias IssuesBy: Dr. Randal A. Collins, CEMIt is well known that of the public safety services, law enforcement has arguably been the service to most resist the implementation of the Incident Command System. I do believe, though, even as one of the staunchest ICS advocates, that perhaps other services might consider giving law enforcement a bit of a pass and stop unrealistic changes. Perhaps we should look at ICS and ask, “why is ICS not working for law enforcement,” instead of looking at law enforcement and asking, “why is law enforcement not utilizing ICS?”  First, let's eliminate two basic assumptions that many people make. ICS is not perfect. While I believe that we should embrace ICS and use it as the tool it is, it was created by humans, which means it is fallible, and we should always seek to change and improve it to create a better process. It was created by firefighters for firefighters, which leads me to my second assumption. The fire service and law enforcement are not the same because they are both public safety and work closely together on emergencies. They are often lumped together within jurisdictions and our biased minds because of their commonalities…SponsorsDisaster Tech Titan HSTNatural Disaster and Emergency Management ExpoDisaster Lan (DLAN) by Buffalo Computer Graphics Get full access to The Emergency Management Network at emnetwork.substack.com/subscribe

Giselle, Iulia, and Dalibor gathered together for an internal discussion of recent events from Russia's invasion of Ukraine. On the heels of President Biden's “Armageddon” comment in response to Russian President Putin's threats of nuclear warfare, Iulia suggested Biden had inadvertently “changed the conversation” from Ukraine's successful counteroffensive to its potential annihilation. Dalibor opined that the comment had fostered “really unhelpful narratives” about how Ukrainian President Zelenskyy is effectively dragging the US into a “nuclear apocalypse.” The co-hosts also discussed implications of the Kerch Bridge's bombing, and whether recent rumors of military and political infighting in Moscow might be indicative of Russia's inevitable collapse. Russian forces attacked Ukraine's Kyiv and Odesa regions with Iranian-made drones and used missiles to strike other areas, Ukrainian officials said as Moscow punished the country for a fourth day after a truck bomb damaged a bridge to the annexed Crimean Peninsula. A strike carried out near Makariv, a small city located 50km west of Kyiv, destroyed critical infrastructure. Throughout the capital region, residents whose lives had resumed some normalcy when the war moved east months ago again awoke to air raid sirens. Russia intensified its bombardment of civilian areas in recent weeks as its military lost ground in multiple occupied regions of Ukraine that President Vladimir Putin illegally claimed as Russian territory. Putin's supporters urged him to escalate the campaign further after the Crimea bridge attack. It wasn't clear whether the explosive-packed drones caused any casualties. Ukrainian officials said dozens of people died this week after the Russian military ramped up the scope of its attacks, including at least two killed Thursday in a missile strike that destroyed an apartment building in southern Ukraine. Damage to a power station in Kyiv, Ukraine after a Russian attack. Photo / Maxar Technologies via AP Ukrainian officials said Thursday that Iranians in Russian-occupied territories of Ukraine were training Russians how to use the Shahed-136 systems, which can conduct air-to-surface attacks, electronic warfare and targeting. Their deployment may indicate the Russian military is running out of its own drones. The low-flying aerial devices help keep Ukraine's cities on edge, but the British Defence Ministry has said the Iran-made drones were unlikely to be fulfilling their purpose of providing strike options deep into Ukrainian territory, with many reportedly destroyed before they hit their targets. Ukraine's air force command said Thursday its air defence shot down six Iranian drones from over the Odesa and Mykolaiv regions during the night. The Russian military resumed widespread attacks in Ukraine on Monday following the weekend explosion that damaged the Kerch Bridge. The 19km span holds importance as a symbol of Moscow's power and carries military supplies from Crimea, which Russia annexed from Ukraine in 2014. A Ukrainian serviceman checks the trenches dug by Russian soldiers in a retaken area in Kherson region. Photo / Leo Correa, AP The speaker of Russia's lower house of parliament said Russian forces struck more than 70 energy facilities in Ukraine this week. He threatened an "even tougher" response to future attacks by "the Kyiv regime", although Ukraine has not claimed responsibility for the bridge bombing. "All the organisers and perpetrators of the terrorist attacks must be found; those who resist must be destroyed," State Duma speaker Vyacheslav Volodin wrote on Telegram. Russian officials said Thursday that Ukrainian forces shelled Russia's Belgorod region that borders Ukraine. According to the region's governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, the shelling damaged a multi-story residential building in the city of Belgorod, while a projectile that landed on a school sports ground did not explode. Putin said the massive barrage of missile strikes across Ukraine that started Monday was retaliation for what he called Kyiv's "terrorist" actions targeting the Kerch Bridge. Putin vowed a "tough" and "proportionate" response to Ukrainian attacks that threatened Russia's security. Kyiv was hit at least four times during Monday's strikes, which killed at least 19 people and wounded more than 100 across the country. A man rides his motorcycle past a destroyed car in the retaken village of Velyka Oleksandrivka. Photo / Leo Correa, AP Russian forces have made early morning attacks a daily occurrence in southern Ukraine as the Ukrainian military wages a counteroffensive aimed at recapturing occupied areas. In the southern city of Mykolaiv, overnight shelling destroyed a five-story apartment building as fighting continued along Ukraine's southern front. The Mykolaiv regional governor, Vitaliy Kim, said an 11-year-old boy was pulled from the rubble after six hours and rescue teams were searching for seven more people. Kim said the building was hit by an S-300 missile, a type ordinarily used for targeting military aircraft but the Russian military appears to be increasingly using for imprecise ground strikes. Some Nato allies this week pledged to send advanced weapons to Ukraine, including air defence systems that the government in Kyiv has said are critical to defeating the invading Russian forces. Britain said Thursday it would provide missiles for advanced NASAM anti-aircraft systems that the Pentagon plans to send to Ukraine in coming weeks. It's also sending hundreds of additional aerial drones for information gathering and logistics support, plus 18 more howitzer artillery guns. "These weapons will help Ukraine defend its skies from attacks and strengthen their overall missile defense alongside the US NASAMS," UK Defense Secretary Ben Wallace said. The systems, which Kyiv has long wanted, are designed to provide medium- to long-range defence against missile attacks. The pledge came as Nato defence ministers led a meeting in Brussels of the Western military alliance's secretive Nuclear Planning Group. Nato plans to hold a nuclear exercise next week amid concerns over Putin's insistence he would use any means necessary to defend Russian territory, including the illegally annexed regions of Ukraine. Nato is keeping a wary eye on Russia's movements but has so far seen no change in its nuclear posture. Russia is expected to hold its own nuclear exercises soon, possibly at the same time as Nato or just after, according to Nato diplomats. Putin met Thursday with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on the sidelines of a regional summit in Astana, Kazakhstan. UN officials expressed hope a day earlier that the meeting would lead to an extension of agreements that led to the resumption of Ukrainian grain exports and allow Russia to ship fertilisers. "We are determined to transport Russia's grain and fertiliser to underdeveloped countries through Turkey," Erdogan said, adding that Ankara and Moscow could jointly designate the countries the products would go to. The war in Ukraine has created food shortages and price increases by slowing shipments of agricultural products. - Sabra Ayres, APSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Read on for today's agenda below prepared by David (thank you very much). - Retired US Diplomat to 5 different nations  David Hunter shares his knowledge, passion, interest, and experience.1)  North Korea Testing Missiles and Simulates Tactical Nuclear Strike on South Korea:  This weekend, North Korea's dictator Kim Jung Un conducted his 40th missile test this year, and simulated a war-game that uses tactical nukes on South Korea and US bases there.  This is after a period of quiet for the last 4 years.   What do you think is happening?2)  Ukraine's Strike on Kerch Bridge and Putin's Response:  Last week, an alleged 'truck bomb' struck the Kerch Bridge stretching the Kerch Straits linking Russia to Ukraine's annexed territory in Crimea. Crimea was invaded and annexed by Russia in 2014.  The bridge allows Russian troops, equipment and supplies to come to Crimea to fight against  Ukraine.  Was it a legitimate military target?  What response will Putin make? 3) Putin's links with Shamanism and Genghis Khan? :   Putin and his cronies have been claiming that Ukrainians and even US and  NATO are 'Nazis' and most recently also 'Colonial Powers' trying to subjugate Russia.  He even  called the USA "Satanic".   But perversely,  Putin has reportedly engaged in shamanistic practices,  and admires bloody Genghis Khan as a role model.4)  Is Russia supporting Neo-Nazi groups?:  The Slavic "White Nationalist and Neo-Nazi" group Russian Imperial Movement (RIM) has been active in training fighters for the war in Ukraine.  It operates openly in St. Petersburg, Russia.  Ironically, their troops are going to fight against what Putin calls the Ukrainian 'Nazis'.  What's going on?

EPISODE 50: COUNTDOWN WITH KEITH OLBERMANN A-Block (1:45) SPECIAL COMMENT: At his Sunday night rally in Mesa, Trump boasted he had boxes of documents at Mar-a-Lago, their contents were all "his." He is all but daring Merrick Garland to arrest him (2:30) Mr. Attorney General: saying "I had a small number of boxes at Mar-a-Lago...guarded by Secret Service...they should give me immediately back everything they took from me, because it's mine" is a CONFESSION (4:06) We now learn he also offered to TRADE the documents for FBI Russia records (6:00) And Friday's conclusion that the FBI was at least ready to search Trump Tower and/or Bedminster was confirmed by Rolling Stone's report that DOJ is asking witnesses if he had documents in those locales (8:30) And while Merrick Garland stalls and hesitates, Trump's minions have dropped the pretense and are joining him on stage to admit they are there to end fair elections (11:00) And his cult's candidate for Governor of Arizona did something last night that was just this side of posing with a ball-gag in her mouth with the word "TRUMP" written on it. B-Block (13:54) EVERY DOG HAS ITS DAY: Boomer, in Los Angeles (15:01) POSTSCRIPTS TO THE NEWS: Small problem in the Kremlin case against the "terrorist" who blew up the Kerch bridge, as Michael Flynn calls US Ally Zelenskyy a "fool," the lead Democrats on the L.A. City Council are going to have to resign, and the bad reviews for Yankee Scented Candles may actually augur a new Covid wave, so get your Bivalent! (20:29) IN SPORTS: Ear today, gone tomorrow: Mets get waxed as Showalter's Musgrove Ritual falls on deaf ears (23:55) THE WORST PERSONS IN THE WORLD: Kanye West (and the Republican Attorney General who defended his antisemitism) try to stave off Tommy Tuberville's racism and Mehmet Oz's Hitler Symbolism for the honors. C-Block (30:21) THINGS I PROMISED NOT TO TELL: My friendship with the legendary actress Elizabeth Montgomery (32:00) How it happened because of the founding of ESPN Radio and the unexpected scoop we got on the first weekend (34:25) Leading me to do my impression of my high school classmate Chris Berman as he greeted me on my first day at ESPN (38:44) And the extraordinary life lesson about fans and memory that she taught me and has stayed with me for 30 years.See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

As expected, Vladimir Putin and Russia responded to the attack on the Kerch bridge with overwhelming force. Launching at least 80 cruise misseles at Ukrainian infrastructure, Russia intends to punish the government for what they percive as a terrorist attack against a civilian target. Meanwhile, the people of Ukraine continue to pay the price as now they are plunged into darkness as repair crews attempt to re-establish power and water. The main Didactic Mind podcast is finally back with a new episode. In this one, I argue that we are already in a World War - whether you call it World War III or IV at this point, I don't know or care, but the fact is that we ARE dealing with a global war between at least two huge power blocs. I call out the Empire of Lies for what it is, and I straight-up argue that the USSA is now a terrorist state, after what it did with the Nord Stream project and the way that it has supported an openly and avowedly neo-Nazi regime in Ukraine. In the wake of the Kerch Bridge attack, I argue that the Russian people are no longer interested in compromise or peace with anything less than the outright destruction of Ukraine and the total defeat of NATO. I argue that the extremely weak and pathetically poor leadership of the Fake President has opened up opportunities for the Deep State factions to go to war with each other and the entire world. And I explain that the Neo-Tsar is not going to use a nuclear first strike, because that is not the Russian way or doctrine - but that he is also under tremendous pressure from his own government and people to deal with Ukraine much more harshly than he has so far. In other words - we are staring at an extremely combustible and dangerous situation, and no one has any idea how bad things could get, or how fast. As always, be sure to like, comment, share, and subscribe to the site and the podcast, and be sure to subscribe to my Telegram channel if you have not done so already. Protect Yourself From Big Tech I make some pretty incendiary statements in this podcast, and in most of my podcasts. I can only do so because I take steps to protect myself from the Big Tech companies, and preserve my identity. You need to do the same – this is no longer optional, because if you don't, the gatekeepers WILL come for your head.
