As we head into the last days of 2025, it's time for our traditional look back at our favorite games and game-related events of the last 12 months. A tavern or fighting hall is preferred. They have a raucous laugh and a twinkle of mischief in their eyes as manage to keep spirits high around them with a well said joke, or a light hearted prank. They will always make a crocheted present for the target of the joke. Though their clothing is always a bit shabby and stained, they never let it get to them. O som do ferro substituiu o brilho do bronze.

In the closing decades of the nineteenth century, Wales was a nation on the move. Between 1880 and 1900, hundreds of thousands of people either left Welsh shores for opportunities abroad or arrived to seek work in the booming industrial valleys. This movement of people, both outward and inward, would reshape the population, language, and social character of Wales in profound ways. Send us a textErika brings up the discussion of why and critical thinking. Why does a good God give this law? How does this law bring life? Why did God choose the Levites? Why are the expectations about the priesthood clearly laid out? Why is God specific in some areas, but ambiguous in other areas? Why are there cities of refuge? Why does the person who killed someone get a chance to run to the city of refuge? Deuteronomy 18 and 19 helps answer those questions. What are your why questions after reading these chapters? It's often said online that if a product is free, you're the product, but what if that bargain was no longer true? What if, depending on the device you paid hard-earned money for, you still became a product yourself, to be measured, anonymized, collated, shared, or sold, often away from view?In 2024, a consumer rights group out of the UK teased this new reality when it published research into whether people's air fryers—seriously–might be spying on them.By analyzing the associated Android apps for three separate air fryer models from three different companies, researchers learned that these kitchen devices didn't just promise to make crispier mozzarella sticks, crunchier chicken wings, and flakier reheated pastries—they also wanted a lot of user data, from precise location to voice recordings from a user's phone. As the researchers wrote:“In the air fryer category, as well as knowing customers' precise location, all three products wanted permission to record audio on the user's phone, for no specified reason.”Bizarrely, these types of data requests are far from rare.Today, on the Lock and Code podcast, we revisit a 2024 episode in which host David Ruiz tells three separate stories about consumer devices that somewhat invisibly collected user data and then spread it in unexpected ways. This includes kitchen utilities that sent data to China, a smart ring maker that published de-identified, aggregate data about the stress levels of its users, and a smart vacuum that recorded a sensitive image of a woman that was later shared on Facebook. These stories aren't about mass government surveillance, and they're not about spying, or the targeting of political dissidents. The dust has settled, both books have wrapped up their stories, and the time has come for the closing credits. So, we have a weird end of story crossover between the two books. Still, the hot dogs are being slung and the stories are getting told. So, let's get into it, shall we? Nothing beats that feeling you get when you hang out with friends, eating some grilled food, and chatting about how awesome your life is and the amazing adventures you have had. I do not know that feeling, but I have heard it is fantastic. And by good food, I am talking about great hot dogs. We can have giant discourses on what is the best and what to put on the dog, but at the end of the day, it is personal preference. Find what you like and take a bite. And do not forget the beer. We, at Jeff and Rick Present, support the sharing of beer with friends. It is kinda our thing. Get it....thing...the Thing. Beer.... Look, this is not rocket science folks. If you are not going to laugh at my jokes, then I am going to get mad. And when I get mad, I tend to pull the ears of dogs that can teleport people. Anyway, you should have music at a party. It helps with the digestion of hot dogs and beer. This is a proven scientific fact. Also, fire guitars are an awesome gift for any pyromaniacs you may know. I guess that we can have a little romance in this story. I still am not totally sold on these two. And it does seem like this is one of the last times we see Darla, but it is cute. Enjoy your time in the sun.....on the moon. And so, that is a wrap on this series. Overall, it was a pretty good story. It would have been nice if we could have gotten a little more of Fraction on the title, and it felt cramped near the end, but it was still a good story. And now, we move onto the Young Avengers. Hooray! We also have some merchandise over at Redbubble. We have a couple of nifty shirts for sale. https://www.redbubble.com/people/jeffrickpresent/?asc=u Check out the artwork for this episode: https://jeffandrickpresent.wordpress.com/2025/11/25/fantastic-four-v4-16-ff-v2-16-4/ You can also subscribe and listen to us on YouTube! Autumn is here on the Talking Heads podcast - as the last vestiges of Summer in the garden dodge the wet and windy weather while trying to give the last hurrah before that inevitable but pleasantly seasonable slide into the hibernation of winter. But gardeners never sleep so Lucy and Saul are still out and about in their plots plying the horticultural trade they both love. So join them both for more horti-waffle and insights into the life of the modern, professional gardener.Leaves, frost and rain...that's been this Autumn summed up...so not much gardening talk on todays podcast but instead two pieces of huge news in Saul and Lucy's lives. After 10 years of early mornings, tractor breakdowns and the occasional piece of cake Saul is leaving Stonelands to take up a new job role at Plant Heritage, while Lucy becomes a two-time winner of the Garden Media Guilds Practical Journalist of the Year! "Antibody–drug conjugates (ADCs) have three basic parts: the antibody part, the cytotoxic chemo, and the linker that connects the two. First, the antibody part binds to the target on the surface of the cell. Antibodies can be designed to bind to proteins with a very high level of specificity. That's what gives it the targeted portion. Then the whole thing gets taken up by the cell and broken down, which releases the chemotherapy part. Some sources will call this the 'payload' or the 'warhead.' That's the part that's attached to the 'heat-seeking' part, and that's what causes the cell death," Kenneth Tham, PharmD, BCOP, clinical pharmacist in general oncology at the University of Washington Medicine and Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center in Seattle, WA, told Jaime Weimer, MSN, RN, AGCNS-BS, AOCNS®, manager of oncology nursing practice at ONS, during a conversation about antibody–drug conjugates. To provide feedback or otherwise reach ONS about the podcast, email pubONSVoice@ons.org Highlights From This Episode "The mechanism of action of the chemo itself depends on what agent or what 'warhead' is attached. Generally, [ADCs] have some kind of cytotoxic mechanism related to many of the chemotherapies that we use in practice, without attachment to the antibody. Some of them can be microtubule inhibitors, vinca alkaloids like vincristine. Some of them can be topoisomerase I (TOP1) inhibitors like irinotecan. Some can be alkylating agents that cause DNA breaks. So, again, looking back at the arsenal we have of cytotoxic chemo, these can all be incorporated into the ADCs." TS 5:54 "I want to talk about a case where the biomarker is being tested, but the biomarker isn't the target that you're looking for. One good case of this is a newer agent that was approved called datopotamab deruxtecan. The datopotamab portion is specific to a target called 'trophoblast cell surface antigen 2' (TROP2), which is expressed on the surface of many epithelial cancers. This agent was first approved in hormone receptor-positive, HER2-negative breast cancer, and received accelerated approval in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) with an EGFR mutation. ... The antibody looks for a target, TROP2. But in both of these cases—in the breast cancer and the NSCLC—you're testing for expression of different mutations or lack thereof. You're not looking for expression of TROP2. There's more research that needs to be done about the relationship between TROP2 expression and the presence or absence of these other biomarkers, but until we know more, we're actually testing for biomarkers that aren't the target of the ADC." TS 10:22 "There are common adverse advents to antibodies and chemo in general. Because we have both of these components, we want to watch out for the adverse effects of both of them. Antibodies, as with most proteins, can trigger an immune response or an infusion reaction. So, many ADCs can also cause hypersensitivity or infusion reactions. The rates of that are really variable and depend on the actual antibodies themselves. Then you have the cytotoxic component, the chemotherapy component, which has its own characteristic side effects. So, if we think of general chemo side effects—fatigue, nausea, bone marrow suppression, alopecia—these can [occur] with a lot of ADCs as well." TS 15:34 "The rate of ocular toxicity in [mirvetuximab soravtansine] is quite high. The manufacturer reports that this can occur in up to 60% of patients. With rates so high, the manufacturer recommends a preventive strategy. For this particular agent, [they] recommend patients have required eyecare. ... This ocular toxicity is something we do see in other ADCs that don't have the same target and don't necessarily have the same payload component. For example, tisotumab vedotin and again, datopotamab deruxtecan, can both cause ocular toxicities and both would have required ocular supportive care." TS 20:08 "Overall, I feel like the future is incredibly bright for these agents. There have only been around a dozen therapies approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) despite this idea—the first agent came out in 2000. So, 25 years later, there are only around a dozen FDA-approved treatments. But there are so many more that are coming through the pipeline. And as we're discovering more biomarkers and developing more specialized antibodies, it's only natural that more ADCs will follow." TS 26:50
Mark interviews Meaghan Smith about the new children's book IT SNOWED that she wrote and illustrated, which was inspired by her popular holiday song of the same name. Shitter Was Full!: A Trivia Guide to National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation I Think It's A Sign That The Pun Also Rises Meaghan Smith is a JUNO Award-winning musician, visual artist, and storyteller whose creative life bridges the worlds of music and fine art. Born in London, Ontario—known as The Forest City—Meaghan grew up drawing and exploring the woods and fields near her home. Her love of art led her to study classical animation at Sheridan College, later working as a storyboard artist before shifting her focus to music. That leap brought her to Halifax, Nova Scotia, where she now lives with her husBand, producer and songwriter Jason Mingo, and their two sons. Over the past 20 years, Meaghan has built a multifaceted creative career. As a musician signed to Warner Brothers Records, she toured internationally, sharing stages with artists such as Sarah McLachlan, Tracy Chapman, Ron Sexsmith, and k.d. lang. Her debut album The Cricket's Orchestra earned her the 2011 JUNO Award for Best New Artist, multiple East Coast Music Awards, and a Polaris Prize nomination. Her song Mirror, from her sophomore album Have a Heart, was a semifinalist in the International Songwriting Competition. Today, Meaghan continues to release collections of music characterized by her sweetly smoky vocals and vintage pop sensibility. Her songs have appeared widely across film and television—on platforms ranging from Netflix to The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. Through her company Our Song, she and Jason write and produce custom songs for individuals and special occasions, helping others tell their stories through music. While her music career flourished, Meaghan also found her way back to visual art. On tour, she began painting tiny oil portraits of the forest animals she missed from home—foxes in fedoras, bears in flower crowns, fish in monocles—each one nestled in a miniature vintage frame she found in antique shops along the way. What began as a creative escape in hotel rooms and green rooms evolved into her acclaimed Miniature Art Show, with over 500 original paintings sold worldwide and exhibits in galleries such as Galerie d'Art Charlevoix in Quebec. Using oils on heavyweight paper, Meaghan's paintings capture the personality and soul of her subjects with vivid detail and a playful sense of nostalgia. Her art celebrates the small wonders of the natural world and invites viewers to see beauty in the quiet, whimsical corners of life. In addition to her paintings, Meaghan owns and operates M. Kind Papersmith, a small stationery studio based out of her home in Halifax. The line focuses on locally printed, hand-folded greeting cards designed to help people stay in touch and spread a little kindness through the mail. Each card reflects her signature warmth and attention to detail, combining her love of illustration with her belief that connection matters. Meaghan recently signed a publishing deal with Nimbus Publishing, the renowned East Coast publisher, for her holiday hit It Snowed. Having created the illustrations herself in coloured pencil, she now proudly adds published author and illustrator to her creative credits. Though she has illustrated works for other authors, It Snowed marks the first book she has both written and illustrated from her own material. Alongside her art and music, Meaghan leads Creativity Through Songwriting Workshops, coaching others to unlock their creative potential through the songwriting process. Now based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Meaghan continues to paint, write, and make music—working to incorporate creativity, family, and an ever-evolving artistic life that celebrates imagination in all its forms. What happens when a children's book is written for adults who know better? Filmmaker and author Cevin Soling joins Alex to talk about his brilliantly twisted storybooks that hide sharp social commentary behind bright illustrations and dark comedy. His Rumpelville Chronicles wrap heavy themes in playful visuals, inviting adults to laugh, cringe, and think at the same time. Soling's been poking at cultural absurdities since childhood, and his books pull no punches:• “The Jolly Elf” skewers bureaucracy through a murderous elf and a town more interested in TV rights than survival.• “The Bomb That Followed Me Home” turns a walking bomb into a cuddly pet, highlighting how normalized violence has become.Influenced by James Thurber and Tom Lehrer, Soling blends humor and critique with a light touch, creating stories that feel whimsical on the surface and subversive underneath.Soling has written about outsiders, power, education, and cultural blind spots for years through books like “The Student Resistance Series,” “The People Who Fell,” and his satirical, surreal fiction that pokes holes in our neat little myths about society. So it tracks that when an esteemed anthropologist labeled a long-unseen tribe as “despicable,” Cevin didn't buy it. Happy Thanksgiving, everyone! It's the kickoff to the main season of Christmas Past. What better way to get things going than with a cozy gathering around the fire for some old fashioned storytelling? Today, I'm back with a ghost story for Christmas. In "Lucky's Grove," when a Christmas tree is selected from a mysterious grove, strange and tragic events follow. Thanks to my friends at Biblioasis for once again giving me the opportunity to share this year's set of ghost stories with you. There's still time to buy hard copies of these beautifully designed editions of classic ghost stories.
