We've almost run out of time for Aug-Heist: The Getaway, but not before we go on the run with one final film. This week, we're finally doing a proper prison break movie with a little-seen 2010 slow-burn thriller from director Paul Haggis, who won back-to-back Best Picture Oscars with Million Dollar Baby and Crash. Russell Crowe stars as a husband willing to go to any length to free his wrongly convicted wife from prison, even if that means breaking her out himself. Co-starring Elizabeth Banks, Olivia Wilde, Lennie James, Brian Dennehy, Liam Neeson, the film adapts the 2008 French release Anything for Her (Pour Elle) and was filmed on location in Pittsburgh. But with a dead-on 50% Tomatometer score, what final verdict will our hosts hand down? The summer of The Getaway is almost over, so we'd better enjoy The Next Three Days! The candlelight flickers. You shuffle the deck, cut the cards, and draw: The Fool. The High Priestess. Death. A path opens before you, shadowed and gleaming, and it leads us into the hidden world of tarot's symbols. We've walked this road before, but this time, Alicia and Terra descend deeper—into the imagery of the Rider–Waite–Smith deck, the most iconic tarot of the modern age. Every hand gesture, every flower, every sky holds meaning; a secret language painted into seventy-eight doors of the subconscious. Who placed these symbols here? What truths do they guard? And how can unlocking them sharpen your readings until the veil itself feels paper-thin? Keep your candles close, your questions closer, and do not look away— the cards are speaking.

This episode features a rambling reflection that Mark recorded on part of an unexpected and unplanned four-day road trip from Calgary, Alberta to Waterloo, Ontario. When Mark was in Calgary, Alberta for the When Words Collide conference, Air Canada went on strike and all flights were canceled. Finding himself unable to get home (without having to pay for 4 nights in a hotel plus a flight on an alternate airline that would have cost him $1500), Mark decided to rent a car and drive back home nearly 3,500 kilometers (2174 miles) during the week of Monday August 18th through Friday August 22nd. Instead of being frustrated over the predicament, Mark chose to see this as an amazing opportunity to see parts of the country he hadn't yet visited. This episode is a rambling reflection from the road that he recorded on the morning of Wednesday October 20th on the highway between Dryden, ON and Thunder Bay, ON. On this episode of Ron's Amazing Stories, we take to the skies—and then make an emergency landing in the frozen wilderness! Our featured story comes from the Lux Radio Theater and is titled Island In The Sky. It stars Dick Powell as pilot John Dooley, who must lead his crew to survival after their plane is forced down in Labrador's icy barrens. Before it was a radio play, Island In The Sky was a 1953 film starring none other than John Wayne. And here's the real kicker—it's based on a true story from the pen (and cockpit) of Ernest K. Gann, who lived through similar events as a WWII pilot. This isn't just high drama—it's history in action. So, grab your headphones and maybe a warm blanket—because this tale is going to chill you to the bone. What you'll hear in this episode: A short background on the film, the radio play, and the true events that inspired it. Dick Powell stepping into the cockpit as John Dooley. A full broadcast of the Lux Radio Theater production Island In The Sky. Ron's commentary on survival, teamwork, and a few laughs along the way. Listening time: About 1 hour. Located on the south-west coast of Wales, Carmarthenshire's shoreline offers some of the nation's most peaceful and picturesque scenery. Yet behind this natural beauty lies a history marked by tragedy, where countless lives have been lost in circumstances both sudden and severe. This week on Aug-Heist: The Getaway, director Quentin Tarantino brings us his debut outing, Reservoir Dogs! As a video-store clerk turned first-time filmmaker, he directed, wrote, and appeared in this indie hit, which took Sundance by storm as part of the “Class of ‘92.” The film follows six suited, code-named strangers - including Harvey Keitel, Michael Madsen, Steve Buscemi, Tim Roth, and Tarantino himself - brought together for a jewelry heist. While the film never shows the actual heist, the lead-up and aftermath are explored in bloody detail, as the Dogs turn on each other when the job goes south. Boasting all of his directorial hallmarks - graphic violence, extended dialogue featuring profanity and references to popular culture, and epic needledrops (here in the form of K-Billy's Super Sounds of the Seventies) - the film immediately established Tarantino as a made man in Hollywood and was later named the greatest independent film of all time by Empire Magazine. But do our hosts feel compelled to tip their server, er, uh, director, or are we listening to the world's smallest violin… in a pitch that only Reservoir Dogs can hear? Most vertebrate animals on land get around on all fours, but some of us have committed to two-legged locomotion. This episode, we explore the various ways animals have evolved bipedalism and the many benefits that come with it. We'll also take a look at how we identify bipedal animals in the fossil record, and we'll zoom in on the evolutionary story behind Earth history's most successful bipeds. I look back with fondness to interviews like this, especially when the artist is no longer with us. In 2001, I had the great honor of talking to the late Dan Fogelberg. My late wife and I were avid fans of Dan's music and had the privilege of seeing Dan live in concert. In this interview, Dan talks about hitting the road for the summer concert season and about his music. Sidebar - Dan's song from 1978, "The Power of Gold" with Tim Weisberg, was the very first song I played in my AFRTS radio career. In January 1993, the quiet Belgian village of Arc-Wattripont became the scene of one of Europe's most extraordinary modern hauntings. Over two nights, more than a dozen Gendarmerie officers — trained, skeptical law enforcement — witnessed violent poltergeist activity inside the Dubart family home. Furniture slid and lifted, objects launched into the air, and even a mattress levitated while someone lay on it. Despite exhaustive searches, no hoax or natural cause was found. The case, later dubbed “the Devil's House,” remains unsolved, preserved in official police reports and eyewitness testimony as a chilling reminder that some mysteries defy explanation.OBSCURATA - Apple Spotify AmazonThe BOOKBY US A COFFEEJoin Sarah's new FACEBOOK GROUPSubscribe to our PATREONEMAIL us your storiesJoin us on INSTAGRAMJoin us on TWITTERJoin us on FACEBOOKVisit our WEBSITEResearch Links:https://www.cerpi-officiel.com/arc-wattripont.htmhttps://www.rtbf.be/article/le-mystere-de-la-maison-hantee-darc-wattripont-10873468https://www.lesoir.be/art/arc-wattripont-phenomenes-paranormaux-et-poltergeist_t-19930108-Z06T1S.htmlhttps://paranormaldatabase.com/hotspots/arcwattripont.phpThanks so much for listening, and we'll catch up with you again on Wednesday.Sarah and Tobie xx"Spacial Winds," Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com)Licenced under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 Licencehttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/;;;SURVEY Hosted on Acast. “At least some of the answer to these issues of compassion fatigue and burnout have to do making our practice environments the very, very best they can be so that nurses and other clinicians can really connect and care for patients in the ways that they want to be able to do that—and the patients need them to be able to do. I think there's a lot that is here already and will be coming, and I feel pretty optimistic about it,” ONS member Anne Gross, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, FAAN, senior vice president for patient care services and chief nursing officer at Dana-Farber Cancer Institute in Boston, MA, told ONS member Christine Ladd, MSN, RN, OCN®, NE-BC, member of the ONS 50th anniversary committee, during a conversation about burnout and compassion fatigue in oncology nursing. Ladd spoke with Gross and ONS member Tracy Gosselin, PhD, RN, NEA-BC, AOCN®, FAAN, senior vice president and chief nursing executive at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, NY, about the history of nurse well-being and how nurses and health systems are approaching it today. To provide feedback or otherwise reach ONS about the podcast, email pubONSVoice@ons.org. Highlights From This Episode Gross: “I was on an oncology unit early in practice. And just like today, we were dealing with very sick patients. We were dealing with death and dying. We were administering very toxic treatments and really pushing a field forward in oncology. So there were similar challenges, but I think different from today. There weren't the kind of resources; there wasn't the body of work that's been done today around compassion fatigue and burnout, work-life balance, and things like that. There was not that body of literature and science like there is today. And so there was more of a grassroots kind of support building in the clinical environment that I think I experienced.” TS 2:35 Gosselin: “I think there's also a piece when we think about nurses in the work we do—we also have families. We have aging parents and children. And sometimes that burnout is multifactorial in that we have family obligations and other obligations that make it really hard. And for some people, they say work is their escape from some of that. Yet it's all hard to balance sometimes.” TS 8:09 Gosselin: “It's this question that people like Anne, myself, other chief nurses are saying. If we add this new technology, what are we going to take away? Do we need another alarm to ring to the phone or to their badge? How much can you ask people to do and not be distracted when they're at point of care delivering patient care? Technology should never be a distractor, nor should it tell us how to practice. The technologies we have today—I'm like, ‘Wow, I wish I had that when I started my career.' And yet there's also a double-edged sword to that. I think we have to balance when we think about care and care delivery.” TS 16:36 Gross: “There are so many resources, first of all, that ONS provides to all of us at all levels and in all points in our career and our path from novice to experts. And the needs, though, are the same. Whether you're a novice nurse or whether you're a very experienced nurse, you need to continue to learn and to get new information, and ONS is an incredible resource for that. … As I think both of us keep alluding to and emphasizing here, you also need that connection to other people. And that's what ONS provides—that opportunity to get connected to other people that might be working in some other part of the country or other part of the world but is dealing with similar things that you're dealing with. So it provides that opportunity, and then it also provides an opportunity to get involved. I think when you can get involved and be part of solving a problem, it doesn't then control you and you won't feel defeated by it.” TS 22:24

Across the world, there are pockets of land where the skies seem restless. Places where strange lights appear without warning and encounters with the unknown are whispered about for generations. Their locations are often fixed on maps by triangulating the nearest towns and cities, yet their reputations are defined not by geography, but by the stories told about them. One such place lies in the heart of Scotland, a swathe of countryside where sightings occur with unsettling frequency. Known as the Falkirk Triangle, it has earned a reputation as the United Kingdom's most active UFO hotspot, a place where the seemingly ordinary meets the extraordinary.
