Ist ein Doktortitel der Garant für Wertschätzung, Erfolg und Anerkennung? – Leider nein. Das musste meine Coaching Teilnehmerin Michaela K. schmerzlich erkennen. Denn obwohl sie hochrangige Ausbildungen (inzwischen sogar eine Habilitation) vorweisen kann, litt sie doch im Alltag unter dem „Mädchen für alles“-Syndrom. Sie kümmerte sich um alles und war Anlaufstelle für jedes Problem. Das führte dazu, dass sie nicht genug Zeit und Fokus auf ihre Forschungstätigkeit legen konnte, was sie frustrierte und ihr den Spaß an der Arbeit raubte. Außerdem wurde sie unter den Kolleg:innen nicht als die Expertin wahrgenommen, die sie eigentlich sein wollte. In dieser Podcast Folge teilt Michaela mit uns ihre persönliche Wandlung - von jemandem, die stets die Arbeit anderer übernommen hat, hin zu einer selbstbestimmten Wissenschaftlerin, die gelernt hat, "Nein" zu sagen. Wir diskutieren die tiefe Veränderung, die in Michaela vorgegangen ist, als sie erkannte, dass sie mehr kann, als nur die Erwartungen anderer zu erfüllen. Als ich Michaela zum ersten Mal traf, steckte sie mitten im Stress des Alltäglichen. Heute ist Michaela eine gefragte Sprecherin auf medizinischen Kongressen und eine respektierte Kollegin im Team. Aber noch wichtiger: Sie fühlt sich souverän und selbstbestimmt. Sie kann sich auf die Themen fokussieren, die ihr Spaß machen und nimmt ihre berufliche Entwicklung selbst in die Hand. Diese Episode ist eine Erinnerung für uns alle, dass wir die Macht haben, die Dynamik in unserem beruflichen und persönlichen Leben zu ändern – und dass die Reise manchmal mit einem einzigen mutigen Schritt beginnt. Ich kam bei dieser Folge aus dem Staunen nicht mehr raus, soviel Parallelen zwischen Pferden und Menschen hat mir Michaela aufgezeigt: "Du kannst auf Stress oder auf eine Reaktion von Stress auf verschiedene Arten reagieren. Du kannst entweder das Pferd oder den Menschen dafür bestrafen, dass er nicht performt und sagen: Geht aber so nicht, mach das hier mal richtig und haust den Anderen richtig noch mal rein oder drohst mit Strafe. Oder du kannst sagen: Weißt du was, wir ignorieren dieses Thema. Wir machen so eine Vermeidungstaktik. Das machen ganz viele Menschen mit ihren Pferden, die sagen: "Mein Pferd hat Angst vor XYZ, dann meide ich diesen Raum" und somit wird natürlich der Radius immer kleiner. Kannst du auch machen. Das ist eine Strategie. Was aber nichts bringt, denn der Stresslevel wird ja immer höher. Du kannst ein Pferd oder einen Menschen immer weiter unterdrücken und bestrafen für die Stressreaktion, die es zeigt. Das führt aber dazu, dass das Pferd und der Mensch immer mehr aushält. Du kommst immer mehr in eine Aushaltesituation. Der Druck wird immer höher. Vertrauen geht weg, komplett. Und wenn du noch eins kriegst, dann kriegst du vielleicht Dienst nach Vorschrift. Wenn du Glück hast." Welche Parallelen Michaela Kölbl aus Ihrer mehr als 30 jährigen Erfahrung aus der Arbeit mit traumatisierten Pferden für das Positive Leadership gezogen hat, durfte ich in dieser spannenden Episode von Ihr lernen. Eins meiner Fazits: Wir dürfen nicht vergessen, dass das Leben uns in der Regel auch gerade im Arbeitskontext mehr Zweifel auferlegt als Bestätigung. Die wenigsten Menschen da draußen laufen durch ein 40 Jahre plus Arbeitsleben, wo alles nur wunderbar ist. Das ist doch völliger Quatsch. Wir kriegen unsere Nackenschläge. Wir werden auch immer hinterfragt. Es gibt viele Leute da draußen, die können sich nur erheben oder sich selber in die Augen gucken, indem sie andere erniedrigen. Und da sind so viele Schläge und so viel Leid und so viel Misshandlung da draußen, sodass wir immer wieder was dafür tun müssen, uns selber auch wiederzuerkennen. Wir müssen uns immer wieder regelmäßig wiederentdecken und das gerne auch eben mit anderen, wenn wir alleine nicht in der Lage sind dazu. Ich habe erlebt, wie schön es ist, mit Tieren zu arbeiten, die noch ein weißes Blatt Papier sind. Du hast eine direkte Verbindung zu den Pferden, da ist nichts dazwischen", schwärmt die Pferdefrau. Welche Trainingsphilosophie Michaela aus diesen Erfahrungen ableitet, erläutert sie im Gespräch mit Christian Kröber. Dabei macht sie Mut und verdeutlicht, wie einfach es gehen kann.
