On this episode, I have the absolute pleasure of sitting down with two incredible brothers—Pat and Robert McLaughlin. These guys are the real deal. Not only are they heart-driven leaders making a huge impact in their respective fields, but they recently joined us in Orlando at our Day of Development and Jon Gordon Certified events, dove right in, and became Jon Gordon Certified Trainers! Pat McLaughlin is a serial entrepreneur, chiropractor, business owner, and author. He's run everything from chiropractic practices to hair salons (yes, you read that right), and his latest passion project is writing and speaking on the power of being present. Robert McLaughlin brings nearly three decades of experience at Chick-fil-A, where he leads with positivity as the head of their Support team, championing a drum-banging culture of recognition and continuous improvement. In our conversation, we dig into what makes these brothers tick—their shared values, powerful family bonds, and personal journeys through both triumph and tragedy. We talk about leadership lessons from the sports field and the importance of investing in yourself so you can invest more in others. The McLaughlin brothers open up about their commitment to positive leadership and how they're using their certification to pour into organizations, schools, and communities. Give it a listen and get ready to bang the drum (you'll see what I mean)! About Robert, Robert McLaughlin serves as Executive Director of Support Now for Chick-fil-A, where he leads a 294-person team dedicated to supporting restaurant operators, team members, and customers nationwide. Since joining the company in 1998, he's worn many hats—from Field Marketing Consultant to leading major sponsorships like the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, to shaping national brand strategy and new restaurant marketing. A graduate of UNC Chapel Hill with an MBA from Notre Dame, Robert brings both business acumen and heart to everything he does. Beyond the boardroom, he's a three-time Ironman triathlete, motivational speaker, proud husband of his high school sweetheart, Holly, and devoted girl dad to two daughters. In this episode, he shares leadership insights, stories from his journey, and what it takes to lead with purpose at one of America's most beloved brands. About Pat, Dr. Patrick (Pat) McLaughlin is a seasoned chiropractor, entrepreneur, author, and speaker on a mission to help people align their lives and become the best version of themselves. Since opening his first practice in 1991, he's launched seven chiropractic offices and currently runs two successful practices in eastern North Carolina. But his passion for impact doesn't stop there—he's also built businesses with Great Clips, Duck Donuts, StayDry Med Centers, and Shape Med Centers, once owning 50 Great Clips salons and ranking among the top franchisees in North America. A lifelong learner and avid reader, Pat is now focused on writing and speaking to empower others. He's the author of The Bear Facts of Life and the upcoming The Power of Being Present, and serves as a guest lecturer for UNC Chapel Hill's entrepreneurship program. In this episode, he shares practical wisdom on leadership, personal growth, and what it means to truly live in alignment. Pat has been married to his wife, Maria, since 1995 and is a proud father of four. When he's not coaching others, he's likely spending time with his three dogs, on the golf course, or enjoying live music and sports. The Cyrkle hit the top of the charts in 1966 with two big hits: "Red Rubber Ball", co-written by Paul Simon, which reached #2, and "Turn Down Day", which reached #16. The band had a special relationship with The Beatles - they were managed by Brian Epstein, got the unique spelling of their name from John Lennon, and opened for The Beatles on their 1966 U.S. tour including their last live stadium concert appearance at Candlestick Park in San Francisco. Don Dannemann is an original member of the band, and together with Mike Losekamp and Pat McLaughlin, they tell the Cyrkle's story. My featured song is “To The Zoo!”. Have you ever had a moment that deeply touched your soul, making you feel connected to God and changing your life? We often think of monumental conversion moments, but what if I told you that such transformative encounters could be a part of your daily life—through prayer? Prayer is more than just speaking to God; it's about creating a sacred space for genuine conversation. It's about building a relationship with Jesus, allowing Him to speak to us, fostering spiritual growth, and helping us understand ourselves and God's will. Beyond that, prayer lets us receive grace and feel God's immense love. And here's the beautiful part: these encounters aren't just for us; they're meant to be shared, strengthening our faith and enriching our communities. Today, I sit down with Fr. Pat McLaughlin for a conversation about the Lampstand Initiative. It's a program designed to transform our prayer lives, bringing us closer to Jesus. But it doesn't stop there. The Lampstand Initiative empowers us to not only deepen our own prayer lives but also to teach others, creating a ripple effect of prayer and evangelization in our communities. In this episode, we explore: * How a listening heart in prayer can bring a profound connection with Jesus. * How sharing the blessings of your prayer can amplify the impact and foster a culture of evangelization. * How to teach people to teach others to pray through the Lampstand Initiative. Learn more about the Lampstand Initiative (https://sacredheartnorfolk.com/prayer-life/lampstand-initiative). Or deepen your own prayer life by picking up one of these books: WRAP Yourself in Scripture (https://cedarhouse.co/wrap-yourself-in-scripture-a-guide-for-lectio-divina-third-edition/) and The Parish as a School of Prayer (https://cedarhouse.co/the-parish-as-a-school-of-prayer-foundations-for-the-new-evangelization/). We had the pleasure of interviewing Robert Finley over Zoom video! “The greatest living soul singer,” Robert Finley, has released his career defining new album on Easy Eye Sound. A soulful masterpiece written by Finley and co-written by Dan Auerbach, it features blues veterans and studio legends who have worked with everyone from Elvis to Wilson Pickett. Finley appeared on NPR's Morning Edition today, discussing his new record and remarkable story with Vince Pearson. The piece reflected on the power of perseverance and how Finley has found musical success, after many decades of hard work.He debuted a new music video for the track, “Make Me Feel Alright,” which premiered exclusively with SPIN.com, who also interviewed Finley about his new album and proclaimed it, “one of the finest albums of the year.” Reflecting on the track, Finley stated, “‘Make Me Feel Alright' is about not looking for love, but for companionship. Sometimes you want to find someone to have a good time without judgment or baggage. There's nothing like going to a club and having a good time. You meet someone, have a fun night and then go your separate ways with your own problems at the end of the night but still experience love in the moment.”Sharecropper's Son received high praise from tastemaker media including Rolling Stone who described Finley's vocals as the perfect combination of “weathered and expressive.” Mojo described the album as “pure Hill Country hypnotic boogie.” AVClub claimed, “Finely has a voice so distinctive and compelling that it can't be ignored.” GRAMMY.com discussed how Finley defies genres stating, “Finley's mesmerizing voice... defies neat categories.” Under The Radar said, “There's an undeniable element of authenticity with Finley's music and ‘Country Boy' is no exception.” Before his rapid ascent, Finley overcame a divorce, house fires, an automobile accident, and losing his sight in his 60s, to finally pursue his musical dream and become an overnight soul sensation. Since the release of his Dan Auerbach produced debut, Goin' Platinum, he's toured the world, received critical acclaim, and even made the semi finals of America's Got Talent. His latest album tells his life's story and is rooted in the classic sounds of southern soul, country, rhythm and blues. With songwriting by Finley, Auerbach, Bobby Wood, and contributions from respected country songwriter Pat McLaughlin, Sharecropper's Son also features an all star band including guitar expertise from Auerbach himself, Kenny Brown, Russ Pahl and Billy Sanford. They are joined by other notables: Bobby Wood, Gene Chrisman, Nick Movshon, Eric Deaton, Dave Roe and Sam Bacco. The fire behind the conflagrant performances on Sharecropper's Son is ignited by Finley, who has cited a range of vocal influences, including Al Green, Jimi Hendrix, Ray Charles, Elvis, James Brown and The Beatles, all inspiring his genre diverse and formidable vocal approach, which take centre stage and encapsulate his remarkable life. Finley's tales of pain and joy uplift as he shares his belief that you are never too young to dream and never too old to live.Sharecropper's Son is out now on Easy Eye Sound. THE CHILDREN OF VAAYLOR by Patricia McLaughlin The Children of Vaaylor is a story filled with kindness, friendship, responsibility, and love. It begins on an island where three children, Lila, Naunee and Kodi are sitting together enjoying cinnamon tea. The oldest, Lila, decides to reveal to the other two the dream she experienced the night before that sets them all on a quest to find a lost child. From making magical potions, to sailing across the sky, to riding on the top of Manatees, these three children all employ their mystical powers in their journey to find this lost child. After several twists and turns, their quest is finally accomplished, and the children return to their home in the accompaniment of a new friend. This tale teaches children to always believe in oneself, and live life by aiding each other through good as well as bad times. Pat McLaughlin lives in Massachusetts. She loves to write children stories that remind her of her times spent with grandchildren and nieces and nephews. Early on she spent many hours laughing and realizing life holds a lot of good times when children are around. She is also the author of Two Little Farmers in One Wooden Shoe, Lissi Anne and the Isle of the Gumdrop Trees, Fuzzy Learns a Lesson of Love, and Can an Apple Really Talk? She will continue to write for years to come as her memories can fill a sea. Jenny Zhu is a sophomore who goes to high school in sunny San Diego. She has been drawing since she was able to hold a pencil, and her love for art inspired her to participate in many art competitions which eventually led to her first job as an illustrator for this book. Jenny hopes to brighten people's days by taking them on a journey inside the whimsical worlds of storybooks through her colorful artworks. She also aspires to kindle the imaginative minds of children and young artists out there to explore the boundless depths of their own creativity. Her dream university is Stanford and her goals in life are to own an art shop and travel across the world to experience international cuisines. http://patriciamclaughlin.com/ https://www.amazon.com/Children-Vaaylor-Patricia-McLaughlin/dp/1648586902 http://www.bluefunkbroadcasting.com/root/twia/patmclaughlin.mp3
Esta vez se trataba de Southern Soul From Memphis To Muscle Shoals And More, con una selección de 10 versiones e canciones de rhythm and blues y una de cierre que suponía recordar su álbum Car Wheels on a Gravel Road gracias a “Still I Long for Your Kiss”. Solo artist. Frontman. Behind-the-scenes songwriter. For more than a decade, Adam Hood has left his mark both onstage and in the writing room, carving out a southern sound that mixes equal parts country, soul and American roots music. It's a sound that began shape in Opelika, Alabama. Raised by working-class parents, Hood started playing hometown shows as a 16 year-old, landing a weekly residency at a local restaurant. He'd perform there every Friday and Saturday night, filling his set list with songs by John Hiatt, Hank Williams Jr, and Vince Gill. As the years progressed, the gigs continued — not only in his home state, but across the entire country. Eventually even landing himself a three-year nationwide tour opening for Leon Russell. These days, though, Hood is no longer just putting his own stamp on the songs of chart-topping country stars. Instead, many of those acts -- including Little Big Town, Miranda Lambert, Anderson East, Josh Abbott Band, Lee Ann Womack & Brent Cobb -- are playing his songs. In 2016, Hood signed a publishing deal with Warner/Chappell Nashville and GRAMMY Award-winning producer Dave Cobb's Low Country Sound. All while remaining adamantly focused on his own career, playing around 100 shows annually promoting third solo release, Welcome to the Big World, and now his newest release, Somewhere in Between. A showcase for both his frontman abilities and songwriting chops, Somewhere in Between shines a light on Hood's strength as a live performer. He recorded most of the album live at Nashville's Sound Emporium Studios over two quick days. Teaming up with friend and producer Oran Thornton (Miranda Lambert's Revolution, Angaleena Presley's Wrangled) their goal was to create something that reflected the raw, real sound of his concerts, where overdubs and unlimited takes are never an option. The result is a record that reflects Hood's working-class roots, mixing the upbeat thrill of his roadhouse roots-rock songs with the contemplative, stripped-down sway of his country ballads. Joining him in the studio were guitarist Pat McLaughlin, bassist Lex Price, and drummer Jerry Roe. All of whom captured their parts in just a handful of live takes while Hood simultaneously tracked his vocals. Stripped free of studio trickery and lushly layered arrangements, Somewhere in Between is an honest, story-driven record. One that's both relatable and deeply autobiographical, with Hood writing or co-writing ten of the record's eleven tracks, alongside friends like McLaughlin, Brent Cobb -- who also appears on the electrified "She Don't Love Me" -- Josh Abbott, Jason Eady, and plenty of others. Somewhere in Between is an album that finally finds Hood telling his own story. A dedicated family man, he wrote "Locomotive" — a heartland anthem, full of Telecaster twang and sunny swagger — after watching his young daughter develop her motor skills while playing with a set of blocks. Balancing his life as a relentless road-warrior, Hood penned highway ballad "Downturn" about a life filled with wanderlust and long drives from gig to gig. As a blue-collar songwriter, Hood shines a light on everyday experiences — from family and friends to the thrill of Friday nights. Partly because he's stuck to his roots. The native Alabaman still lives in the Yellowhammer State and celebrates America's rural pockets with songs like "Keeping Me Here" and "Real Small Town," two songs filled with images of main streets, open landscapes, hard times, and good people. "It's southern music," he says, grouping Somewhere in Between's wide range of music under an appropriate banner. "That's what it represents: the soulful side of southern music, the country side of southern music, the genuineness of southern culture, and the way I grew up. One of the t-shirts I sell at every show simply says ‘Southern Songs,' and It's a good summary of what I do. It's what I've always done."
The Fightin' Side of Me". You Couldn’t Make It. Escuchar audio

Singer/Songwriter Adam Hood knows the dual life of living in small town America while traveling as a singer/songwriter. “Somewhere In Between” is an ode to the people, the pace and what it means to leave a small town for a different life than what you know. The Alabama native’s album was recorded at Nashville's Sound Emporium Studios and was produced by Oran Thornton who also produced Miranda Lambert 'Revolution,' Eric Church 'Caught In The Act: Live,' and Angaleena Presley 'Wrangled’. Hood is most known for co-writing songs like Brent Cobb’s “King of Alabama,” Anderson East’'s “”Surrender"” and album cuts recorded by Miranda Lambert, Little Big Town and Lee Ann Womack. The album’s latest track “Easy Way,” is co-written with Pat McLaughlin and premiered on Billboard. The video for the “loose country rocker” (Rolling Stone Country) “She Don’t Love Me” is also on CMT and features fellow songwriter Brent Cobb. We chat about the song “The Heart of A Queen,” “Alabama Moon” and others. Adam does spend his time somewhere in between his home state of Alabama and Nashville and chat about how that works for him and his career.
