In a world chasing volume, Ronnie Fieg chose impact. On this episode of The E1B2 Collective Podcast, I break down the creative philosophy and business blueprint behind Kith—a brand that sits at the intersection of fashion, lifestyle, and legacy. This isn't a story about selling more hoodies or dropping the next hyped collab. It's a lesson in restraint, taste, and the art of building something worthy of obsession. From Ronnie's unapologetic focus on product perfection to his masterful approach to partnership—think BMW, Versace, Coca-Cola, Nike—we explore how Kith doesn't move fast, it moves right.Inspired by the same energy you feel when you walk into Apple's flagship, see Fear of God's eternal collection, or watch Nike turn a shoe into a symbol—this episode is a call to reimagine what workplace culture, leadership, and product output can really be when you build with legacy in mind.Kith didn't just build a brand. Ronnie built a standard. One we all should be chasing.
Back again for our second show of 2025 this one is an absolute banger from beginning to end. Today's show starts with some impromptu food talk around the world of cheesesteaks and how some restaurants have literally gone TOO DAMN FAR!! Shortly after we cover some of the funniest tweets of the new year (Michael Irvin as “Black Panther?”) and RDC's epic Blade skit as public speculation swirls that Marvel canceled the reboot. We also get into the Power Universe now that Matt has fully caught up and the EPIC WWE Raw premiere on Netflix this past Monday. This takes us into a conversation about Travis Scott & Kanye's influence in the modern era and Chad dubs Ronnie Fieg as the only man alive who can save Adidas. But all those topics are just appetizers to the main course of our deep dive on Lil Baby having the best week ever after his classic album “My Turn” was named Billboard's #1 greatest hip hop album of the 21st century (#8 overall across genres) and his latest album WHAM debuts at #1 on the Billboard 200. The guys break down the root of the now busted internet narratives, Baby's fanbase, his goodwill with the artist community, issues with Gunna and why he can NEVER fall off. And for the closer we cover the scandal that literally broke Twitter/X involving Joy Taylor, Emmanuel Acho, Skip Bayless & Charlie Dixon using FS1 like a brothel. We cover the history, allegations, fallout & examine where people like Stephen A. Smiff & Cam “The Hat” Newton completely missed the mark!! All this and more on another brand new episode of The Realest Podcast Ever. We're still in year-end list-making mode when it comes to the best sneakers of 2024. With the dust from the ComplexCon Sneaker of the Year panel finally settled, we're revisiting that compilation to briefly go over our final sneaker of the year selections. More than that, cohosts Joe La Puma, Brendan Dunne, and Matt Welty talk about their personal favorite shoes from 2024, like Ronnie Fieg's run of Kith Asics and the Stash x Nike Air Max 95s. Also, they discuss the Corteiz x Nike Air Trainer Huarache release in New York, the “Legend Blue” Air Jordan 11 release, and the biggest flop sneakers of 2024. Hosted on Acast. My guest today is Ronnie Fieg, founder and CEO of Kith. At age 13, Ronnie started working at David Z., an iconic New York shoe store, where he sold Timberland boots to Jay-Z and Wallabies to Wu-Tang Clan. He worked his way up from the stockroom and earned his first collaboration in 2007, when he worked with ASICS on new Gel-Lyte 3s. That collection sold out in a day after being featured in The Wall Street Journal, catching the attention of Adidas's president and launching his reputation as a cultural icon. In 2011, he founded Kith, which has become one of the most influential brands in footwear, fashion, and culture. The business sells a unique curation of products that includes exclusive Nike sneakers, Armani suits, Versace robes, watches, cars, and even $10 ice creams. Our conversation is one of the best examples of life's work I've ever recorded - it explores how Ronnie's pure love of product has shaped everything from a campaign with Jerry Seinfeld to his creative direction for the New York Knicks. Please enjoy this excellent conversation with Ronnie Fieg. Sign up for the Alphasense panel discussion hosted by Patrick. Nigel Sylvester is back with Jordan Brand, with what might be his most ambitious project ever. This time around, the BMX superstar is reworking a new take on the Air Jordan 4, the Jordan 4RM. It's a low-cut shoe with a frame that's inspired by bikes. The story behind his shoes takes root from his grandmother's driveway, where he first learned how to ride a bike. In this episode, Sylvester talks about making the shoes and shows off the green and grey colorways of the sneakers. He talks about Lil Yachty wearing the shoes, Ronnie Fieg giving his feedback on them, and comparing them to his Jordan 1s. The guys also talk about Michael Rubin's all-white Travis Scott Air Jordan 1 Lows, when it's time to retire shoes in your rotation, and the sneakers they've been wearing the most this year. Eric Wind is joining me for his second episode of Collectors Gene Radio today and as you could imagine, we're chatting all things watches and Wind Vintage. Since our last chat, Eric's had a countless list of exciting things going on for him and his brand, such as his partnership with Kith, the several Rowing Blazers collaborations, a Volume 2 of his HSNY talk, his podcast Significant Watches, and a lot more. Most notably, the incredible selection of vintage watches you can shop on his website, windvintage.com. It's not often you get to chat with someone who is so honest and knowledgeable across so many different brands. Eric's continuous efforts to be involved in as much as he can definitely attributes to where he and Wind Vintage are at today. It's always great to catch up and pick his brain, as if I don't bug him enough. Needless to say, I'm sure we'll be doing much more of these. So without further adieu, my friend Eric Wind, for Collectors Gene Radio.

In the Jewish religion, a bar mitzvah is the ritual induction of a boy into manhood at the age of thirteen. It's recognized as the time when he, not his parents, becomes responsible for his actions. Ronnie Fieg took this transition quite seriously. Fieg's first cousin is David Z, a legendary sneaker and sports- wear retailer in New York City. Ronnie's parents were paying off his bar mitzvah celebration with the gifts from the guests, and as is customary, David came to the celebration with his gift in hand: an envelope of cash. Ronnie saw this as an opportunity and said to David, “Thanks, but no thanks; I'd rather have a job working for you instead.” The next day, Ronnie started as a stock boy at David Z. In the late 1990s, David Z was located on Eighth Street in Greenwich Village, one of the most influential blocks in the country for street culture. All the big hip-hop artists spent their weekends hanging on the block. They would start on the corner with a Gray's Papaya hot dog, maybe grab a pair of Parasuco Jeans in one of the lesser-known shops, and end up in David Z's buying a pair of GORE-TEX boots. This was where Ronnie learned the business of sneakers and streetwear. As he tells it, “When Lauryn Hill spits ‘In some Gore- Tex and sweats I make treks like I'm homeless,' the week that she recorded that album, I sold her the boots. And when you see Ma$e and Diddy in the ‘Been Around the World' video and they're wearing Dolomites, I sold them their boots. Anytime you'd see Wu-Tang with custom Wallabies, I used to get them custom-made for them. Jay-Z was there every weekend. ‘Cruising down Eighth Street'—when he spits that on the [‘Empire State of Mind'] track, that was him every Saturday, cruising down Eighth Street. I used to help him with his Timberlands every Saturday.” For Ronnie, working at David Z was like going to the Harvard of street style. Ronnie worked his way up from stock boy to sales clerk to assistant manager to manager to assistant buyer and, eventually, buyer for multiple David Z stores around the age of twenty-five. As the head buyer, Ronnie had direct exposure to the brands, and luckily for him, David Z moved volume, which gave him influence. He formed a relationship with ASICS at a Vegas trade show, and the brand performed well in the stores, so ASICS decided to give him the opportunity to design his own silhouette. This was propitious; back in the day, his mom had bought him a pair of ASICS Gel-Lyte IIIs at Tennis Junction in Great Neck instead of the more popular Reebok Pumps he wanted. At first, Ronnie hated them, but eventually he grew to love them, wearing them until they had “holes in the soles.” He wanted to replace them, but they'd been discontinued. When ASICS gave him the chance to design his own, the Gel-Lyte III was his obvious choice. He pulled them out of the archive and created three versions, of which a total of 756 pairs were manufactured. He called in some favors from a few friends, and they threw an event at David Z. The next day, they sold a few pairs, and he shared the story of the shoes with one of the buyers. The day after that, Ronnie's mother called him, exclaiming, “Your shoe is on the cover of the Wall Street Journal!” The guy Ronnie had told the story to was an editor at the WSJ, and he wrote a story about limited-run sneakers. The next day, there was a line around the block. That same day, the president of Adidas America showed up and, as Ronnie tells it, “I told him the story, and that's how we started talking about working on a shoe called the Black Tie.” Ronnie had begun to build his following.

Well we didn’t get canceled yet, So that’s a plus. This week the team is off the sauce, and popping off. Talking less about Old Navy and more about the new wavy. Get some live action in your TNF x Supreme while On Golden Pond, or die of dysentery on The Oregon Trail in your Travis Scott Nike’s. We don’t really care, as long as the fits are fire. “Steel Blue” Or “Blue Steel”? Either way it’s a Zoolander-esque good look when Ronnie Fieg drops two KITH x New Balance silhouettes in the same day. Tyshawn Jones’ Adidas are F**king Awesome, Bruce Lee plays basketball, Tom Sachs has 2.5 Yards On Mars, and we still refer to Palace as “across the pond”. In a land where the denim is Endless, and the majestic Bathing Ape roams free, someone wants to join their new favorite brand army, but doesn’t know the correct sizing. Lucky for you, that lack of knowledge and taste ends here. You may be woke, but you're not Vick’s vapor rub Awake. You may be alive, but it’s not ALife. Artist and clothing designer Greg Lauren is known for his wabi-sabi garments combining vintage Carhartt with cozy jersey knitwear, his penchant for old-school militaria, and collaborations with everyone from KITH's Ronnie Fieg to storied swimwear company Birdwell Beach Britches. But he's also done plenty of time as a fine artist, honing his illustration skills to portray superheroes like Batman and Superman (he's a staunch DC guy) in a different light, usually through dramatic charcoal on Japanese paper. These days, he's toggling between designer life and #dadlife, helping his son with fractions (1:20) while coming to terms with his kid's love for Marvel heroes. Speaking of heroes, he's also doing his part to help those on the frontline of Covid-19. A medical professional recommended ways to make masks out of air conditioning filters (8:34), which led to several Greg Lauren-designed masks. At the end of the day though, Lauren's glad to be in a place where he can continue to hone his creativity, and appreciates the return-to-roots perspective this time has given him (18:57), and he hopes others can find a similar sense of introspection. That was something that I've been exploring for 10 years. I would destroy luxury fabrics, put them through processes that were normally used on rugged, rough fabrics because I was trying to tear down some of the things that were put on such a pedestal, cashmeres and fabrics that were so expensive and so excessive. It's really strengthened what was already the beginning of a commitment to doing things differently, and not just for the aesthetic, but to have a more responsible approach to making things. I know that for my next collection, I'm committed to doing as much of that collection using our scraps or deadstock and vintage materials as possible. We're going to continue making things out of what we have, and not trying to create more waste. Stay tuned for new episodes of Vibe Check every Tuesday and Thursday.

Ronnie Fieg is one of the coolest people you'll ever meet. He founded KITH, the revolutionary streetwear, and fashion brand from scratch after a long-time obsession with product and culture. KITH is known for major creative collaborations with everyone from Coca Cola to Disney - and they're some of the best master marketers in the game. Their products sell out within milliseconds once they're dropped. But, Ronnie didn't always live at the top - he actually started his career as a stockboy at his uncle's NYC shoe store, David Z. (and trust, it wasn't that easy - he had to ask for this position as his Bar Mitzvah gift!). Ronnie's story is one of hustle, passion, and the ability to take risks - even when it means losing everything. It's one that any immigrant kid, any human being with a drive to "just do" can relate to. During our chat with Ronnie, we dive deep into the moments that defined him, the moments that tested him, and the moments that inspire him (truly - he doesn't use this word lightly). This trendsetting guru whose products sell out within seconds after they drop shares the exact moment when he consciously realized what “marketing” was - among many other personal stories. No matter if you've been following Ronnie's work from the start, or have the simple belief that you just have to put your ideas out into the world - this episode will make you want to drop everything and do it. Some stuff we also cover: What culture really means - and how Ronnie noticed it from a young age as a kid growing up in Queens The old-school way of collecting market research, and how this shaped Ronnie's view of product The exact moment that Ronnie's career trajectory shifted - and how it all resulted in taking a major risk What legacy means when building a business, and how to think about it creatively Resources you might want to check out: Kith's Micky Collection Instagram: @ronniefieg Website: kith.com As always, this podcast is sponsored by: Daydreamers. After discussing the unfortunate death of the great Juice WRLD, we get his opinion on drops and collabs, including the very talked-about Dior Jordans, Kanye’s new YEEZY 700 MNVN “Phosphor” colorway, Theophilus London’s new Off-White™ boots, 032c’s adidas FYW S-97 Salvation’s, and Beyoncé’s new adidas. While discussing each topic, he expresses his great respect for all points of views and designs, and while he might not be the customer for each item, he is careful to not put anything down, explaining that he has often been in design rooms for countless hours, only to be met with negative feedback. So, while some things were for sure his vibe, others were “not for him.” After getting through all the quick hits, Ronnie talks about how he is preparing for his next collections and lets the world know his latest Bergdorf collab will have the streets on their toes. Jian brings up that Ronnie is about to go on another one of his amazing Kith trips, which are “adventures” where he invites close friends around the world to hang with him for a few days. Since his first one in Aspen, he has continued to expand this idea, making it more and more inclusive to his fans who otherwise might not have had the chance to get their hands on certain items and experiences. Jian gets Ronnie to explain how he came up with this idea and why it’s so important to him. We then get into the QOTW, which is where we ask Dropcast listeners to call the hotline, which is 833-HIGHSNOB (833-444-4766), and have them answer weekly questions. This week, the Q is “Best Kith Collab?” Versace, Bergdorf Goodman, and Greg Lauren all come up. Of course, the show ends with our key segment “What Did You Cop?” Ronnie talks about how he went in on holiday shopping, and was gifted the “Viotech” dunks, a shoe he’s been waiting to get his hands on. Hosts Noah Thomas and Jian DeLeon are joined by Guillaume Philibert, founder of Filling Pieces. He founded his brand ten years ago when he was just 19, and since then has expanded his business from sneakers to a full apparel line. Guillaume rolled up to the studio smelling like a straight vacation, and it’s because he was on the island of Mustique celebrating KITH’s latest collaboration with Tommy Hilfiger alongside Ronnie Fieg and a crew of certified clout-havers. We talk to Guillaume about how he ran his brand for ten years, the lessons he learned along the way, and the importance of putting in work overtime. He stresses there’s no such thing as overnight success—unless of course you’re Lil Nas X, which is why we also discuss the artist’s new Wrangler collab. Then we listen to voicemails from The Dropcast Hotline, where we had listeners ask questions about what it takes to build a brand today. Guillaume drops some great advice anyone can learn from. And don’t forget, for a chance to end up on a future episode, call The Dropcast Hotline at 833-HIGHSNOB (833-444-4766). We’ll see you next week and thanks for the support! Hosts Noah Thomas and Jian DeLeon are joined by Brock Cardiner and Highsnobiety’s new Style Director Jan Quammie, who are in town from the Berlin office to discuss all things New York Fashion Week and talk trash on the current state of America. After kicking off on a serious note doling out a fond rememberance for the dearly departed Mac Miller, we talk about the current state of the music industry, including the quashing of some very notable beefs, and the new ones that have risen up in just the past week. Of course, what good is having our style director on the Dropcast if we’re not gonna discuss clothing? That’s why the conversation largely revolves around the best and not-so-best of New York Fashion Week, as well as the lengths Jian will go through to cop a piece from the COMME des GARÇONS SHIRT x Supreme collaboration. Mike Cherman is the founder of ICNY and Chinatown Market. Despite his myriad contributions to streetwear, Mike’s working hand was largely invisible. Much of his work is instantly recognizable, though: he designed all of KITH’s branding from the box logo to the Just Us branding, for Ronnie Fieg. Much of the early A$AP Worldwide gear was Mike’s work, too. "People say your brand dies when you go to Urban," Mike Cherman says, "Enjoy making no money for the rest of your life. I've been in Urban since the first collection. So if that means I'm dead, I've been dead since day one." As always, thank you for tuning into HYPEBEAST Radio and Business of HYPE. “The Internet is a great tool but you can only learn so much. Actually going to a place physically where you have someone that has [designed] at the highest level, you learn so much more…that experience is invaluable.” FYI: Sneakers are a passion of mine. It's no secret. This episode is quite nerdy on the sneaker talk. Xavier Jones, footwear designer at Reebok, joined the podcast to discuss the footwear design industry and his path to designing for athletes like Shaq and Allen Iverson. Xavier's story begins in the Michigan basketball mecca of Flint. He let's us in on his story and how SLAM Magazine, And One and Ballislife inspired and led him to pursue a dream of designing sneakers for a living. We chat about some of our favorite kicks, discuss the evolution of the Jordan Brand, reminisce about the prime of the And One Mixtape and discuss how sport influences mainstream culture and hence sneaker culture. Xavier and I also discuss the unfortunate topic of violence which often happens at rare sneaker releases and how scarcity mindset and poverty effect the violent aspect of these events. Xavier also chats about some of the design processes as a sneaker designer; including what software designers use, why attending Pensole is vital, the collaboration dynamics of teams working on footwear products & more.
