Hello to you listening in Hamburg, Germany!Coming to you from Whidbey Island, Washington this is Stories From Women Who Walk with 60 Seconds for Motivate Your Monday and your host, Diane Wyzga. We are living in a time of historic upheaval. But what if this currently confusing, chaotic, confounding, cultural churn is stumbling toward change that reveals the hidden roots of social injustice for what they are so that we can reconfigure for good? How easily the safeguards can be leaped. And they have been. We can clutch our pearls and bemoan the times we live in; or, we can invite our feelings of hopelessness to give way to action, to repair, restore, and renew out of the ashes of the old ways. We are responsible for making change because we're the only “sentient force” that can.Question: What one small grand gesture are you committed to take on behalf of what you love and care for? These words from the Irish poet Seamus Heaney may motivate and sustain you wherever your feet touch the ground, whatever progress you are intent on making today. “History says, Don't hopeOn this side of the grave...But then, once in a lifetimeThe longed-for tidal waveOf justice can rise upAnd hope and history rhyme.” [“The Cure at Troy” Seamus Heaney]BONUS: Seamus Heaney reads his poem, The Cure at TroyThe Cure at Troy (full text)"Human beings sufferThey torture one another,They get hurt and get hard.No poem or play or songCan fully right a wrongInflicted and endured. The innocent in gaolsBeat on their bars together.A hunger-striker's fatherStands in the graveyard dumb. The police widow in veilsFaints at the funeral home. History says, Don't hopeOn this side of the grave…But then, once in a lifetimeThe longed-for tidal waveOf justice can rise up,And hope and history rhyme. So hope for a great sea-changeOn the far side of revenge.Believe that a further shoreIs reachable from here.Believe in miraclesAnd cures and healing wells. Call miracle self-healing:The utter, self-revealingDouble-take of feeling. If there's fire on the mountainOr lightning and stormAnd a god speaks from the sky That means someone is hearingThe outcry and the birth-cryOf new life at its term.It means once in a lifetimeThat justice can rise upAnd hope and history rhyme. Why Cicero Matters (Bloomsbury, 2023) shows us how the Roman philosopher and statesman Marcus Tullius, better known as Cicero, can help realize a new political world. His impact on humanitarianism, the Enlightenment and the Founding Fathers of America is immense. Yet we give Julius Caesar all our attention. Why? What does this say about modern politics and political culture? This book gives us Cicero as an antidote to the myth of the strong man of history. Reading Cicero's On Duties alongside two more introspective philosophical texts, On Friendship and On Old Age, we see how Cicero turned politics into a higher, intellectual form of art, believing in education, in culture and above all in the power of philosophy to instil morality. Cicero has reassuring words on the indispensable work philosophers make, and why the common good needs philosophy. In an age when anti-intellectualism runs rampant, Why Cicero Matters introduces us to an ancient thinker who argues culture is, or ought to be, the foundation of any modern democracy, and books its building blocks. Vittorio Bufacchi is Senior Lecturer in Philosophy at University College Cork, Ireland. He works in moral and political philosophy. He is the author of Violence and Social Justice (2007); Social Injustice (2012); and Everything Must Change: Philosophical Lessons From Lockdown (2021). Morteza Hajizadeh is a Ph.D. graduate in English from the University of Auckland in New Zealand. Those stories we wish we didn't have to be told, are usually the ones that need to be listened to...On this special episode we dive into 'Her Fight, His Name: The Story of Gwen Carr and Eric Garner' which is doing the rounds and Academy Awards eligible. With the 10th anniversary of Eric Garner's death and no end in sight for this epidemic of police violence it's more important than ever to share Gwen's story. Gwen Carr, the mother of Eric Garner, has spent years seeking justice over the death of her son. At home, surrounded by photos of lost loved ones, she draws strength from cherished memories to keep fighting. Filmed over six years, this documentary marks the 10-year anniversary of Eric's death. The film really does look at the idea of understanding the strength that can come out of tragedy and feels more relevant today then it ever has before. We had the pleasure of sitting down with director Brad Bailey to talk about getting the project in motion, the importance of being an 'oral historian' inside the documentary framework in a story like this and so very much more.

Sister Boi Nghiem studied nursing before being ordained, and works regularly as a nun with the BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and teen communities. "I think I have a very healthy relationship with myself. Very healthy mental dialogue with myself. There were times I comforted myself. There were times I'm very firm with myself, tell myself to stop thinking that way. And they help. This is why I kept on sharing the importance of self-love. Because by the end of the day, it is the self-love that helped me, that saved me, that keeps me going. Because if I continue to criticize myself or have excessive negative thoughts, I cannot do much. It's very tiring. So I think that is the reason why that helped me not to fall into burnout."" 3:07 Heartbreak, Visiting Green Mountain, Deer Park, and Plum Village 6:37 Novicehood at Plum Village 11:40 Magnolia Grove Monastery 25:00 Interest in Social Injustice 28:34 Teens 34:42 LGBTQIA+ 40:55 BIPOC 53:26 Burnout 1:07:07 Basic Practice 1:17:25 Advice for Potential Monastics You can support this podcast by leaving a comment or review in your podcast application and by sharing it with friends. This episode of “Meet the Monastics,” hosted by Brother Minh An from Deer Park Monastery, shares insights into the lives and practices of monastics in the Plum Village tradition. In this episode, he interviews Sister Boi Nghiem (Sister True Pearl), who joined monastic life in 2005 at age 21. Sister Boi Nghiem emphasizes the significance of self-love and healthy inner dialogue as key practices to maintain well-being and prevent burnout. She shares her journey from a childhood in central Vietnam to immigrating to the U.S. and eventually finding spiritual direction after a difficult breakup. Initially drawn to Plum Village for personal healing, she gradually committed to monastic life. Sister Boi Nghiem has devoted herself to supporting diverse groups, including the BIPOC, LGBTQIA+, and teen communities. Her advocacy grew from personal experiences and a deep awareness of societal suffering, leading her to foster inclusivity in the Sangha. Her practice of mindfulness, compassion, and gratitude is nurtured by regular breathing exercises, walking meditation, and the support of her monastic community. The episode also highlights the foundational role of the Plum Village Sangha and the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh in fostering a mindful, compassionate, and engaged monastic community. Kim Gentry Meyer has been blessed with many gifts. She is a talented poet, singer, songwriter, pianist and artist. She was Mrs. Massachusetts in 2020 and recently released her debut album entitled Herald. On this album she uses all of her God-given abilities. She wrote all of the songs, painted a different sunset for each song, sang the songs and played piano. Her goal is to use all of her gifts and talents to glorify the Lord.Kim was raised in a family with a long legacy of serving the Lord. Her two great- grandmothers were in ministry. One was an evangelist and the other was a church planter. This was back in the day when women were somewhat limited in the role they played in church, especially in the deep south. Today Kim leans into the Christian legacy of her family. With a goal to Finish Strong, one of her favorite quotes is from Erma Bombeck. It says, “When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope I can say I have nothing left. I used every-thing you gave me.”Be ready to be inspired to give everything you have for the kingdom of God after listening to this edition of FINISH STRONG!Support the showFearless Faith Websiteffaith.orgTo leave a review - Open Finish Strong on the Apple Podcast app and scroll down until you see "Ratings & Reviews". Due to the awful events unfolding this week we will not be releasing two episodes per our current schedule. However, so many of you have been reaching out asking me about social media and etiquette and what to post and when during these times. I wanted to take this week to address it and hopefully provide you some insight and important points to think about. The #1 comment I'm hearing from consumers is how insensitive brands and creators are being going on with life, posting their OOTD and Fit Checks as if nothing has happened. When the climate around us shifts---whether socially or even figuratively as it would if there was a natural disaster, it's important that your content aligns with the world around you so you don't feel far off or insensitive. There isn't a handbook or a blueprint for this. No one ever could have prepared to wake up to some of the horrific news we've woken up to over the last four days, and with that comes the fact that no one can prepare you for what to do on social media. During Clay Clark's ReAwaken America Tour in Las Vegas, the team at BrighteonTV asked me to step in and interview Ivan Raiklin for a short spot on their network. During this five minute conversation, Ivan and I got right to it discussing the reality of the Deep State and just how deep it actually goes. But then I saw an opportunity for the ultimate question, so I went for it.“Who is in the Deep State?” I didn't want just a, “Oh, you know… guys in the intelligence agencies, some politicians, etc.” I wanted names. And guess what… Ivan Raiklin named names. Many of which you already guessed… some, however, will shock you. If we're going to save America, we first have to understand who our enemy is. After this interview with Ivan Raiklin, you will have no doubt who the enemy actually is. Subscribe to The Jeff Dornik Show on Rumble, Spotify and Apple Podcasts. Edward Haugland's new book The Cognitive War: Why We Are Losing and How We Can Win is a groundbreaking must-read book. With America crumbling all around us, it's obvious that pro-America conservatives are losing the war against tyranny. While some say that we are too far gone to save this great country, Haugland lays out what we can do to win in his book. We had an extensive discussion about the cognitive warfare that's occurring both domestically and globally. It's so important for people to understand what is truly going on. Throughout the conversation, there were many shocking revelations that Haugland made, including the Clapper and Comey's intentional ignoring of the law when it comes to the Steele Dossier. However, one of the biggest claims that he made was that Joe Biden committed biological warfare against the American people. During covid, the Biden Administration would gather up illegal immigrants into camps, creating super-spreader events. Instead of keeping them in quarantine, they would round them up and ship them around the country, ensuring that covid spread far and wide. Watch this discussion in it's entirety, especially as we get to the end of the show where we start talking about what you and I can do to fight back against the Deep State Powers-That-Be. Karlyn Borysenko is one of those rare people that actually does investigative reporting. She's one of the leaders in exposing Critical Race Theory being taught in schools and in Corporate America. She continually does what few are willing to do to expose just how insane the Woke Left truly is… and now she's done it again. This time she went undercover to a Socialist Conference, blending in with these Social Justice Warriors in order to expose what they are propagating. September 11th, 2001, is a day that no American should ever forget. For many of us, those pictures and video of the twin towers getting hit by those airplanes and ultimately toppling over are forever seared into our memories. The narrative that was fed to us in the aftermath has led to countless deaths around the world, wars we shouldn't have been a part of and Constitutional Rights lost in the name of keeping us safe. It turns out we were spoon-fed lies. Dr Michael Scheuer joined me during this episode of The Jeff Dornik Show to share his experience surround 9/11. Dr Scheuer is the former CIA Intelligence Officer in charge of tracking Osama bin Laden in the years leading up to that tragic day. He explains how our government refused to do anything about bin Laden, despite the fact that Dr Scheuer was tracking him and knew exactly where he was and what he was doing. We then dive into some of the facts surrounding both the horrific event on September 11th itself, as well as the aftermath. Given the fact that we were lied to, will anyone ever be held accountable? Why are the same ones who lied to us repeatedly now the ones pushing us to go into war with Russia? We have to make sure that we never forget those men and women who died on 9/11. We should also honor their memory with the truth about who was really behind the attacks and what actually happened. Many don't realize the tyranny our neighbors to the north face with Gavin Newsom wannabe dictator Justin Trudeau as Prime Minister of Canada. He idolizes China and hates Christianity and freedom, as evidenced by the Canadian government's targeting and persecution of Pastor Artur Pawlowski. This pastor has been targeted even since he refused to shut down his church during the covid plandemic. Now he's been found guilty of eco-terrorism for preaching a sermon to some truckers during the protests against the government's overreach. During this episode of The Jeff Dornik Show, I take a look at the lessons we can learn from Canada to make sure this never happens in America. Unfortunately, it's already here. Bobbi Beale, PsyD, and Maurie Lung, PhD, continue their outlaw adventures with guest speaker, Troy Wilkerson. Troy lives in Little Rock, Arkansas and works at Joseph Pfeifer Kiwanis Camp. Troy believes that, “Social Justice Work is uncomfortable, emotionally demanding, and challenging. I also know that staying comfortable often leaves you no room to grow and makes you more susceptible to complacency. Treating the symptoms is a part of the process, but problems are only resolved when the underlining issue has ceased. A challenge is also an opportunity to learn, improve, engage, and reflect. I'm committed to ensuring that everyone has access to the resources and opportunities they need to lead fulfilling lives.” Listen in as we chat about how exhausted we all are from living in this world as a targeted marginalized person as well as exploring how to mitigate this impact and how to find respite - especially through experiencing nature, finding places of belonging, and connecting with friends and family. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ponderinglifeadventures/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ponderinglifeadventures/support

Pastor Craig Hagin joined Jeff Dornik for today's episode of The Jeff Dornik Show to discuss everything from Tucker Carlson getting canned by Fox News to Robert F Kennedy Jr jumping in the 2024 Presidential Race on the Democrat side to abortion to Donald Trump. But one topic, in particular, really stood out in my mind. Mid-way through our conversation, Pastor Hagin made the profound statement: You have the right to be an idiot. In light of the chaos and culture wars, that's an important reminder to those of us with the truth on our side. Our goal should not be to ban those on the other side we disagree with, in the same way that we hope they won't ban us. That goes for transgenderism, LGBTQ and a host of other ideologies that we as Christians simply cannot get behind. At the same time, that does not mean that we allow the murder of unborn children or the permanent bodily mutilation of children in the name of “trans rights.” Remember, children cannot consent to sex or even to getting a tattoo, but we as a society are ok with them making a permanent decision regarding their sexual organs? Yeah, no. This was a fascinating conversation that I highly recommend you listen to, as Pastor Hagin combines his Biblical worldview with a proper understanding of the freedoms and liberties provided to us in the United States Constitution. KWR0033 - Darkened Pulpits; The History and Hirelings of Social Justice. Kingdom War Room The Bible warns that the last days will be a time of great apostasy. What lie is so mesmerizing that it misleads multitudes of professing believers into the maw of evil? The answer is before us today, not being a single deception but a convergence of false teachings bannered under the label of “Social Justice”. Social justice merges morally depraved liberalism with atheistic Marxism; assuring us that we can be a “follower” of Jesus while simultaneously indulging the ideologies of God haters like Karl Marx, Friedrich Nietzsche, and Sigmund Freud. To fully grasp the malignancy of the social justice infection within the Body of Christ, a factual exploration of its origins, goals, and the motivations of those who've brought social justice from inception to growing acceptance has been undertaken in “Darkened Pulpits; The History and Hirelings of Social Justice.” The seemingly unrelated dots have been identified, researched, and connected, revealing Satan's master plan of deception at the end of human history. Patrick Wyett: Patrick is a former overseas defense contractor, Christian researcher, speaker, and writer whose articles have been published on multiple websites around the world. We're shinning a light on an individual who's always working to bring together and improve his community: Christ Follower Rev. Raschaad Hoggard of Abyssinian Baptist Church. He's a prime example of someone who does his life's work by combatting social injustice, sees education as a central part of driving change, and encourages others to share the light within themselves. Episode Note: Our host CitizensNYC CEO Dr. Rahsaan Harris was inspired by our founder Osborn Elliot's book Men at the Top (Harper, 1959). In it, Elliot studies the attitudes and ambitions of leaders at the top, after he interviewed over 200 top U.S. executives. Stay tuned for the next chapter of the series as we explore what leadership looks today.

One of my biggest concerns right now with the Republican Party is the latest trend of turning its back on God in favor of more Libertarian ideologies, all in the name of having a Big Tent Party. Now, I fully endorse having a bigger tent when it comes to the GOP. If we want to defeat communism and the New World Order, the reality is that we need numbers to win elections. However, the problem is when the worldview of the leadership of the party is rejecting conservatism in favor of libertarianism, that's a serious problem. Why? Because the founding of the country is predicated on a Christian worldview, and that's the only way we survive the mess we are in. The Democrat Party is already the party of atheism and Satanism. We can't have two anti-God parties. The Constitution is predicated on the fact that we are created in the image of God, which is why we have certain inalienable rights that cannot be taken away by government. If you reject God, you have no rights. It's as simple as that. This is exactly what I discussed during a recent interview on America Unhinged with Dr John Diamond, and I highly encourage you to take a listen. For further reading, be sure to order my two books Social Injustice and Church & State, both of which dive into the Leftist infiltration into the church and politics. This will explain both the ideology and strategy of this anti-God push. Order at https://jeffdornik.com/store.

Psychologists Off The Clock: A Psychology Podcast About The Science And Practice Of Living Well
Racial trauma has been caused by centuries of discrimination and violence against African Americans; a legacy of injustice that has had a long-term impact on mental, emotional, and psychical well-being. While there is no one-size-fits-all approach to healing Black racial trauma; transformation and change are still possible. A powerful tool to help those who have been impacted by racism is Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). We talk with Research Scientist and Clinician, Jennifer Shepard Payne who in her book, Out of the Fire: Healing Black Trauma Caused by Systemic Racism Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, offers a thorough examination of the application of ACT to the unique problems that African Americans face. Jennifer describes how she is culturally adapting traditional ACT practices, and how this therapy can help African American communities heal from generations of oppression. Listen and Learn: What motivated Jennifer to specialize in culturally tailoring Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) for African American communities Why Jennifer wrote a book on healing Black Trauma Jennifer's personal experience with racism as a Black woman in America What Jennifer thinks about the disparity in the current mental health system for African Americans Jennifer's perspective on resilience in relation to Black racial trauma What inspired Jennifer to pursue ACT, and how beneficial it can be in assisting African Americans who have suffered racial trauma The concept of Racial Battle Fatigue The importance of collective black values for the future Resources: Visit Jennifer's website to discover more about her: https://www.drjspayne.com/ Grab your copy of Jeniffer's book: Out of the Fire: Healing Black Trauma Caused by Systemic Racism Using Acceptance and Commitment Therapy: https://bookshop.org/a/30734/9781684039883 Grab your copy of all our favorite books at bookshop.org/shop/offtheclockpsych, including Yael's new book, Work, Parent, Thrive!: https://bookshop.org/a/30734/9781611809657 Check out Debbie, Yael, and Jill's websites to access their offerings, sign up for their newsletters, buy their books, and more!
