Feeling disconnected in relationships is a theme that's been surfacing a lot lately in my coaching sessions, and I think it's something that many of us can relate to. In this episode, I dive into the common struggles women face in long-term partnerships, particularly the sense of not being heard or satisfied. We explore the importance of owning our part in relationship dynamics while also recognising when our emotional needs aren't being met. I share insights on how to navigate those tough conversations that can feel daunting but are essential for connection. Ultimately, we discuss the deeper emotional issues behind surface-level complaints and how reconnecting with a shared vision for the future can reignite the spark in a relationship. So, if you're feeling a bit lost or disconnected, this episode just might offer some helpful perspectives.Takeaways:Feeling disconnected in relationships is a common theme that many women experience, especially in long-term partnerships, and it's important to address this. To improve your relationship, it's crucial to understand your own emotional patterns and responsibilities without self-judgement or blame. Effective communication requires clarity about what you want to achieve from difficult conversations, focusing on positive intentions rather than complaints. Deep emotional needs often underlie surface complaints about behaviour; recognising and expressing these needs is essential for resolving relationship issues. Is marriage still the goal—or has the goal changed? In this thought-provoking episode of Selective Igonorance, Mandii B sits down with seasoned dating and relationship coach Alison (Align With Alison) to unpack how modern views on marriage are shifting, especially for successful women. Kicking things off at [00:00 – The Evolution of Marriage], they explore the roots of the institution and how its purpose has transformed over time. By [03:15 – Challenging Traditional Views on Marriage], the conversation starts pushing back on long-held beliefs, asking if tying the knot still holds the same weight in today's world. As the discussion deepens, they reflect on [07:41 – The Value of Commitment in Relationships], highlighting what it really means to choose someone—and how that commitment can show up in different ways. At [10:20 – Vetting Partners: The Key to Successful Relationships], the guest breaks down why being intentional about who you allow into your life is crucial. That leads to a candid look at [13:58 – Understanding the Risks of Marriage] and the realities people often overlook when love and legal contracts mix. They don't stop there. By [20:34 – Preparing for the Reality of Relationships], they're talking about the emotional, financial, and personal groundwork that needs to happen before anyone says “I do.” That naturally flows into [24:52 – Navigating Business Relationships and Personal Vetting], where they touch on how similar principles apply in both love and entrepreneurship. The conversation returns to romantic partnerships at [28:40 – Understanding Risks in Relationships and Marriage], and then zooms in on actionable steps during [30:36 – Financial Protection for Successful Women], where they break down how to be smart and secure without guilt or shame. At [32:24 – Societal Pressures on Women Regarding Marriage and Motherhood], the discussion turns personal, unpacking the weight women carry to “have it all” and what happens when they choose a different path. By [36:03 – Setting Boundaries and Defining Personal Value], they offer empowering advice on how to stand firm in your worth—no ring required. And finally, at [40:30 – Redefining Lasting Love Beyond Traditional Norms], they close the loop by asking: What does lasting love really look like when you write the rules yourself? Whether you're single, partnered, or somewhere in between, this episode invites you to think beyond tradition—and lean into what's true for you.Follow the Guest: IG: @alignwithalisonwww.alignwithalisonWatch the full videos of each episode by subscribing to Patreon at Patreon.com/selectiveignoranceFollow the host on Social MediaMandii B Instagram/X @fullcourtpumpsFollow the show on Social MediaInstagram @selective_ignoranceTiktok @selective.ignoranceX/Twitter @selectiveigpod

Kim Almas joins us to share her inspiring journey from a traditional classroom teacher to a passionate homeschooling advocate. Her early love for education, nurtured since preschool, led her from exploring business in college to embracing a fulfilling teaching career in a Christian school. Eventually, the birth of her children sparked her transition into homeschooling, where she played a vital role in establishing one of California's pioneering charter schools for homeschooling. Kim's story underscores the significant paradigm shift required for educators stepping into homeschool settings, as she candidly discusses the challenges and rewards of adapting teaching philosophies to suit diverse learners. Kim's insights into homeschooling philosophies and challenges offer a refreshing perspective on education. Initially attempting to mimic a traditional classroom at home, she soon realized the need for a more flexible, child-centered approach. Encouraged by fellow homeschooling moms and influential readings like "Better Late Than Early," she embraced a renewed sense of purpose, adapting her teaching to align with her children's unique learning styles and interests. This journey highlights the importance of adaptability, community support, and focusing on children's passions, with anecdotes of students pursuing unique paths such as Japanese studies, underscoring the real-world benefits of personalized education. Throughout our conversation, Kim emphasizes the crucial balance between academic responsibilities and fostering a strong social environment for students, especially in homeschooling. She reflects on her experiences as a licensed evaluator, comparing standardized testing with personalized evaluations, and celebrates the creativity and individuality of homeschooled students. The episode concludes with valuable advice on building successful homeschooling relationships, advocating for homeschooling as a lifestyle that prioritizes faith, family, and fostering a genuine love for learning. Kim's dedication and practical insights provide invaluable guidance for anyone exploring the homeschooling journey. A core premise is that many individuals struggle with “Post-Traumatic Successful Relationship Syndrome” (PTSRS) or “Successful Relationship Anxiety” (SRA)—terms that reflect an underlying fear of relationship success, stability, and depth. These concepts align with insights from Patrick Carnes on trauma bonding, where past experiences of dysfunction become familiar and even preferable to the discomfort of unknown, healthier patterns. Trauma bonding, as Carnes explains, forms when attachment is intertwined with psychological pain, making certain people feel more comfortable in unstable relationships than in stable ones. Individuals with PTSRS may unconsciously sabotage healthy relationships, as familiar patterns of emotional turmoil validate a deep-seated sense of self they unknowingly maintain.

SUCCESSFUL RELATIONSHIPS ARE ABOUT GIVING YOUR PARTNER WHAT THEY NEED, WANT & DESIRE.My personal relationship philosophy is no more complex than the above statement.  Give your partner want your partner wants.  Contribute to them.  Make their life easier.  Make their life better.  Contribute to their expansion.  Two people doing that for each other — that's the golden state.  That's heaven on earth as far as human relating is concerned.Do whatever works.  I personally have no particular philosophy or ideology on HOW A WOMAN SHOULD BE, or HOW A MAN SHOULD BE.Be however you want.  You are a free and sovereign soul.  Do your thing.  Express yourself as you please.  Your life is yours to live. But, if you want to play the man-woman game, or any relational game, then who you are, how you are, what you do, how you do it - all of that goes into whether you will succeed or fail at being able to give your partner what your partner needs, desires and wants from you.Everything I teach and talk about is constructed on this metric.  My personal approach to creating successful man-woman relating is trying to find as many big pieces that are valid generalizations as to what men want from women and what women want from men.  I personally have no other measuring stick, no authority, no higher source regarding men & women.  What works?  What works most of the time?  Let's try that. What generalizations are consistent regarding what women want from men? What generalizations are consistent regarding what men want from women?Let's follow those.  Let's build on that data.  It's a pretty reasonable approach. What makes this simple approach a bit more complicated to implement, is that human beings are not obvious creatures.  Our needs and desires are not always plain to see and understand.  Many times, men and women themselves don't have clear understanding of their true needs and desires.  This is where a little digging is needed.  This is where insight into our nature is needed. These insights often ruffle feathers among people when they go against people's self-concepts of what it means to be a good man or woman.  But arguing with the insight, or the insight-bringer, is not really necessary.  You be the judge of what is working in your relationships.  If you and your partner are mutually happy and thriving, ignore everyone blabbering their relationship advice.  What do you care?  You are already succeeding at your relationships.  You are happy and thriving.  Keep doing what you are doing. If what you have been doing has not been working and creating great results in your relationships, then it might be worthwhile to consider that some new data and action might be needed for you to create the needed success.  Try something new if you want, or don't.  All up to you.— Om Rupanihttps://omrupani.org/bdsm-principles-dom-sub-exploration-coursewww.OmRupani.org

Do you believe that angels surround you? Do you think you are guided or are you filled with self-doubt? Lisa continues the conversation today with best-selling author Keith Leon S. who absolutely knows his angels are always with him. He asked for assistance as a child and heard the voice of his Guardian Angel. They have been with him ever since and Keith believes we can all ask them for their guidance and wisdom. He talks about reincarnation and what he has learned. He also discusses the non-linear nature of reality and how we can direct things in this reality. The choices we make now dictate our future. We can make them in alignment with the outcome we want. Keith talks about a specific “knowing” and how he manifests. He discusses the power of belief and how it's possible to cancel out our own prayers with our wavering. If we take in the mainstream media and listen to negative news, for example, we can be deeply affected. He reminds us that we can choose to only receive things in alignment with how we want to be. We can look at role models and the choices they make. He talks about his involvement with Agape Spiritual Center and his relationship with Reverend Michael Beckwith. He became a practitioner there, as well as a soloist in their music program, including performing on stage with Stevie Wonder and Ben Vereen. Keith shares a personal story in which Ben Vereen was singing and afterward talked about his admiration for him. Since that moment, he realized that he was no longer nervous to sing and perform for an audience. Keith also discusses Ernest Holmes and the teachings of the Church of Religious Science, as well as other great spiritual teachers. He explains how they are all saying the same thing, only using different words. He further shares messages from his Angels and their words for humanity's future. He talks about how everything is for the “highest good,” even if it doesn't seem that way. We must turn off the noise and rely on our inner knowing. He suggests going into a place of stillness and asking a single question. The quality of our questions determines our answers. Keep asking that question over and over, until you receive the answer. He also suggests writing positive affirmations and repeating mantras 100 times a day for 33 days to reprogram our subconscious minds. That way, we can become aligned and find an energetic match to what we desire. Keith is a multiple best-selling author, international speaker, and owner of a successful book publishing company. His books include, “Walking with My Angels,” “Who Do You Think You Are? Discover the Purpose of Your Life,” and “The Seven Steps to Successful Relationships,” co-authored with his wife, Maura.  He also talks about his most recent book and film, “The Inside Effects: How the Body Heals Itself,” which is available to watch for Free. Have you forgotten that you are guided? Do you believe that angels surround you and can help? Or are you in a state of self-doubt? Our guest today is best-selling author Keith Leon S. who knows his angels are always with him. Keith didn't always believe he was being guided though. He had a tough upbringing and when he asked for assistance as a child, he heard the voice of his Guardian Angel. When he first heard the voice as a child, and knew it was a voice outside of himself. It was not “all in his head,” so he knew it wasn't an imaginary friend. He then met an angel in the flesh when he was in a troubled spot in his twenties. Keith believes we all have earthbound angels. He's had experiences where he's met with his various angels and spirit guides during an out-of-body episode. Keith talks about how we can all access our personal Guardian Angels. He says we can look for signs, as well as meditating and asking questions. He suggests that we ask just one single question, then sit in silence. Ask the same question over and over, and you will hear the answer. It may be through the guidance of a song lyric or a symbol you see. You cannot ask “Why” questions, he explained.  He suggested asking “How can I?” and “Who do I need to be?” instead. You can also ask “What” questions, such as “What is my next step?” He used this technique and shared a personal story about meeting with best-selling author John Gray and how John then wrote the foreword to one of his books about relationships. It also involves taking action. He talks about the difference between intuition and following guidance. It doesn't matter how you receive the answer; it matters if you follow it. Stay in one question until you receive the answer. Keith discusses how we all come from Source and how we are directly connected. We can ask questions and hear answers at any point.  It is up to us to take the necessary steps forward.   Yet, have we all been assigned a Guardian Angel? What are the signs? They are always with us and are here to get us to our “pre-determined expiration date,” according to Keith. Maybe you've taken a different road, only to find out there was a terrible accident on the route you normally take. This could be an example of your angels protecting you. Keith further describes a relationship he had with a personal Guardian Angel who intervened at various points in his life. He explained that before you come to this Earth, you know how long you will be here. Anything can happen, so your Guardian Angel can help intervene.  If you look at your path, you can make different choices, and enter a new destiny. Keith chose a new path after his Guardian Angel warned him that if he continued drinking excessively and doing drugs, he would have less than 2 weeks to live. Everything that his angel told him previously had come true, so he decided to dramatically shift gears and improve his life, as well as the lives of countless others.
