The Dedeaux Download Podcast returns with Shotgun Spratling and podcast co-host Kasey Kazliner breaking down USC baseball's 3-0 weekend in Minneapolis where the Trojans swept Minnesota with two dominant efforts to open the weekend and a ninth-inning come-from-behind effort in the series finale. Shotgun and Kasey take a look at all the action, pointing out the positives of the Trojans improving to 29-14 with 14-7 mark in Big Ten play and a third-place spot in the standings behind only UCLA and Iowa. They discuss the outstanding pitching outings of Andrew Johnson, Caden Aoki and Brodie Purcell as well as the offensive prowess of the Trojans' catchers. Shotgun and Kasey also look at how USC has been getting contributions from up and down the roster. The podcasters also try to find three negatives from the impressive weekend. They land on one conclusive one and stretch to find two others. After a break, USC junior college transfer Richard Tejeda joins the show to talk about his baseball journey going from the junior college ranks to being the primary backstop for a Big Ten-contending Trojan squad, including how he dealt with a big slump to start his Division I career and what adjustments he's made to be hitting .417 over his last nine games. Tejeda also discusses his connection with the pitching staff and starters Caden Hunter and Caden Aoki and what it was like catching Aoki as he came close to throwing a no-hitter Saturday. Shotgun and Kasey close out the show taking a look at where the Trojans stand after winning another Big Ten series, improving their RPI to No. 38. The podcast then previews USC's upcoming week of action with the Trojans taking on CSUN in midweek action before a huge rivalry series against UCLA down at Great Park next weekend.

Loaded Gun Left on Mantel: Kansas Father Charged After Toddler's Fatal Shooting  She was three years old. He was supposed to be the adult. It's hard to imagine a more disturbing combination of tragedy and negligence than what allegedly happened on the night of February 28th in a small Kansas home. Michael Tejeda, a 25-year-old father, is now facing murder charges after police say his toddler daughter got hold of his gun — and used it to shoot and kill her 1-year-old sister. Tejeda is in custody with the Sedgwick County Sheriff's Office. He was booked on March 1st, but the newly released arrest affidavit paints a horrifying picture of what unfolded in his living room that evening. At some point that night, Tejeda called 911. On the call, he reportedly told the dispatcher that his 3-year-old daughter shot his 1-year-old daughter. In the background, you can allegedly hear him asking the toddler, “Why she did that.” It's a question that has no answer — and one no child should ever be asked. When first responders arrived, the 1-year-old was still alive but gravely wounded. She was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead just before 9:30 p.m. According to what Tejeda told investigators, the children's mother had gone out earlier that evening. She left the girls in his care while she was at a friend's apartment getting tattoos. Tejeda said he fell asleep on the couch while the girls were napping and watching TV. When he woke up around 6 p.m., his loaded handgun — which had been tucked into a "prop" holster in the front of his waistband — was apparently still there. But two hours later, he realized the gun had shifted. He removed it from the holster and placed it on the fireplace mantel — a spot he estimated to be about four feet high. He admitted to police that the holster had no retention, meaning it couldn't hold the gun securely. If it tipped or moved, the gun could fall out. So he placed the loaded firearm, within reach, and then went into his bedroom to change clothes. And that's when he heard the bang. According to the affidavit, Tejeda said his 3-year-old daughter came running to her room crying. When he asked what happened, she allegedly told him, “It was your gun. I'm sorry.” He rushed back into the living room and found his 1-year-old daughter lying on the couch with a gunshot wound to the head. The gun, he said, was next to her on the couch. It's the kind of moment that freezes time — but in this case, it also raised serious legal questions. Because as horrifying as it is, none of this appears to have been an accident in the eyes of the law. It was, allegedly, criminal negligence. During the investigation, Tejeda also told police that his daughter had been curious about the gun before. She'd made comments about it. It wasn't new to her — she'd noticed it. Asked about her day during a forensic interview, the 3-year-old said nothing about the shooting. Instead, she wanted to play. She mentioned getting a Band-Aid earlier, but no more. Whether that was innocence, trauma, or just the way a 3-year-old brain processes something unthinkable… no one can say. The girls' mother told police she was finishing her tattoos when Tejeda called her. He told her the older girl had shot the baby. She reportedly told him to call 911 and raced home. When she arrived, she grabbed her older daughter, who was repeating that she was sorry. It's impossible to ignore the gut punch of this situation. A 3-year-old allegedly pulled the trigger, but it was an adult who left a loaded weapon within reach. And that's what the law is focused on. Michael Tejeda has been charged with first-degree murder, criminal possession of a weapon by a felon, and two counts of aggravated child endangerment. #GunSafety #TrueCrimePodcast #KansasNews #ParentalNegligence Want to listen to ALL of our podcasts AD-FREE? Full transcript To connect with their customers, companies have to understand them. But current approaches just don't work, says Anywhere Real Estate CMO Esther-Mireya Tejeda. Breaking those customers into demographic groups obscures important differences, and psychographic profiles are not easily targetable. The missing link is an emerging neuroscience-backed framework called emographics, which explains why people do what they do. "The majority of human behavior upwards of 95 percent is actually emotionally driven by the unconscious," Tejeda says. "The closer we get to actually understanding that unconscious persona — and we marry that data set with the demographics and the psychographics — now we're talking about a truly 360 robust understanding of that person. Now we can understand what makes that person tick. Now we can start building personalized, targeted, precise campaigns." Today on Building Better CMOs, Esther-Mireya talks with MMA Global CEO Greg Stuart about why no one is "just" a marketer, the irreplaceable human element in real estate, and why the era of "one size fits all" marketing is over. Plus: How technology is simplifying the home-buying experience, and how brands can respond to an era of widespread distrust. The musical genres most people associate with the Dominican Republic are merengue and bachata. Yet, there's another set of rhythms that are essential to the spirit of the country, and that's Afro-Dominican roots music. That's where the band Yasser Tejeda & Palotré come in. They blend some of the country's black roots rhythms like palo, salve and sarandunga, with jazz and rock to bring a new spin to local sounds—and to reimagine what it means to be Dominican. In this segment of "How I Made It," the band's frontman Yasser Tejeda walks us through the inspiration behind their latest album "Kijombo," and the making of the single "Amor Arrayano," which is all about love across the Dominican-Haitian border. This episode originally aired in 2020.

He carried a chip on his should for a long time, but his mindset shifted when he decided that he wanted to accomplish big things in life to make his name mean something. Ivan was entrepreneurial since he was young selling commission-based products. He sold insurance for some time before fully transitioning to his and his wife's Airbnb business. Ivan and his wife did everything in the business themselves, the cleaning, managing, and scouting new properties. They got 12 Airbnbs in 12 months! Unlike most Airbnb investors, Ivan and his wife don't own the Airbnb properties, they use a strategy called Airbnb Arbitrage. This strategy is where an individual can list a property on Airbnb with the permission of the landlord. Since Ivan and his wife began Airbnb, they now have 17 listings with a gross revenue of $600,000! Ivan is now in a place where he's saving up money and getting into multi-family investing where they can turn those properties into Airbnbs. Ryan Pineda had a goal of buying businesses this year and has acquired Ivan's Airbnb real estate education platform.
