Also danke! (mg)

Love to hear from you; “Send us a Text Message”How do we combat the deep-seated issues of injustice and exploitation that plague our society? Join us as we uncover the harsh realities of sex trafficking and its entrenchment in our communities with Thomas Hampson, an investigative journalist renowned for his work on crime and sexual exploitation. Through heartfelt personal narratives, including the story of my nephew, we explore the shifting dynamics of college relationships, underscoring how family backgrounds shape young adults. Are educational policies overstepping parental rights and community values? The contentious debate over school content, particularly LGBTQ literature, is brought to the forefront as we examine the tug-of-war between federal mandates and local autonomy. Drawing historical parallels to freedom struggles, we consider the potential overreach of the Biden administration and the implications for parental influence in education. The incident in Forsyth County, Georgia, serves as a poignant example of federal intervention sparking community conflict, pushing us to question the appropriate role of government in shaping young minds.Unregulated borders and illegal migration continue to stir controversy, sparking discussions about the exploitation of migrants and the strain on citizens. We delve into the murky ethics of religious organizations profiting from immigration, dissecting the so-called new form of slavery in modern society. Highlighting the need for compassion balanced with controlled borders, our conversation challenges listeners to recognize and resist manipulations within the immigration debate. It's a call to action for men and women alike to unite against exploitation, striving for systemic change that protects all members of our communities.Read Tom's Blog at Illinois Family Institute (The Video-Podcast of this Episode will be made available on Rumble and X. Join Jack and Thomas Hampson as they critically assess the cultural and political dynamics shaping our society, with a sharp focus on the implications for truth and the young generation. In a search for TRUTH we cannot shy away from the big questions, including the contentious participation of transgender athletes in sports and the policies that seemingly challenge scientific facts about gender differences. As we approach the upcoming national elections, we underscore the urgent need for a return to truth-based education to protect the integrity of our children's future.Social media is supposed to connect us, but is it actually driving our youth to despair? We unravel the complex relationship between platforms like Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok and the surge in depression and anxiety among young people. The conversation goes beyond the screens to examine the controversial teaching of gender identity in schools and the broader societal shift towards moral relativism. “Otello” debuted in Milan in 1887, just two years after European nations gathered in Berlin to agree on a campaign to carve up and colonize the African continent for their own profit. Giuseppe Verdi's opera, based on the play Shakespeare wrote in the very early 1600s, centers on the Moor, Otello — an African who becomes a much celebrated Venetian general for leading a successful war against his fellow Africans. As a Black man in a position of power, Otello's status inspires praise and worship by some and searing loathing from others. How do stereotypes of Black manhood, an all-too-familiar danger to Black men navigating life in America today, show up in Otello's story? With the help of the Every Voice team and special guests – Maribeth Diggle, Thomas Hampson, Peter Sellars, Limmie Pulliam, Kevin Maynor, Dr Uzee Brown Jr. and Sylvia McNair – host Terrance Mcnight examines how this centuries-old story still shapes today's narratives around Black success and how the work of Toni Morrison might lead us to a deeper understanding of these characters. “Every Voice” is hosted by Terrance McKnight. We hear ad nauseam about the need for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.  What's really behind this constant barrage of propaganda? Joining me today is former undercover crime investigator and author Thomas Hampson to unpack his recent article Pride Month . Tom writes:In his proclamation creating what has become known simply as Pride Month, President Clinton made this comment:“America's diversity is our greatest strength. But, while we have come a long way on our journey toward tolerance, understanding, and mutual respect, we still have a long way to go in our efforts to end discrimination.”What's interesting is the use of the phrase “diversity is our greatest strength.” It is a concept that has been around for many years but became popularized during the nineties, especially in business publications.Several books and articles focused on what made for success and failure in the business world. Researchers determined that diverse teams were better at innovation, creativity, problem-solving, decision-making, and meeting the challenges of a global marketplace. This is true, depending on what you mean by diversity. This is not true if you mean diversity alone.Diversity of height on an NBA team, for example, would ensure the team's defeat. Diversity of skill, regardless of certification, for welders used to build our submarines would guarantee no sailor would volunteer to become a submariner. Diversity of character in our elected officials would assure out-of-control corruption in our government—which we have.Diversity, alone, is not a strength. Calling diversity a strength is an empty phrase that sounds good but is meaningless in real-world application except when combined with other qualities. What is most important is unity of purpose.Coming soon: Tom and Jack's weekly show "Stolen Innocence" on Rumble: How many children must be sacrificed at the altar of "Woke" before we "Awaken"? In this episode we explore the intersection of identity and opera with University of Florida musicologist Leo Walker. Opera, with its grandeur, emotion, and powerful storytelling, has been a stage for human experiences throughout history. Amidst the vast repertoire of operatic works, there are narratives that explore the diverse spectrum of queer identities. These stories, often overlooked or overshadowed, have found their place within the canon, enriching the operatic landscape. Unveiling the queer threads in the operatic fabric allows us to appreciate the richness and diversity of human experiences. Composers like Benjamin Britten, Leonard Bernstein, and many others, have contributed to this exploration, often drawing inspiration from their own lives and relationships. By examining their music, letters, and historical context, scholars like Leo Walker have shed light on the queerness within the works of these composers, deepening our understanding and appreciation of their contributions to the art form. These narratives illuminate the beauty and struggles of love, desire, and self-discovery. They transcend boundaries and foster belonging for audiences of all backgrounds and identities. Every Voice with Terrance McKnight

This week on Every Voice with Terrance McKnight, we go deeper into Giuseppe Verdi's character of the “Moor of Venice." Otello is a celebrated general in the Venetian army, and as a Black man in a position of power, his status inspires praise and worship by some and searing loathing from others. Otello's subordinate, Iago, thinks his boss woefully undeserving of his success and his white Venetian wife. Driven mad by entitlement, racism, and jealousy, he schemes to “right” this wrong by any means necessary. Joined by baritone Thomas Hampson, tenor Limmie Pulliam, and director Peter Sellars, Every Voice unravels the myth that entangles Otello: that Black manhood is something to be feared and controlled, and how the same stereotypes and undertones of superiority remain an alltoo-familiar danger to Black men navigating life in America today. This episode is hosted by Terrance McKnight and produced by David Norville. The  Executive Producer is Tony Phillips. The Executive Producer for WQXR Podcasts is  Elizabeth Nonemaker. Our research team includes Ariel Elizabeth Davis, Pranathi Diwakar, Ian George, and Jasmine Ogiste. Sound design and engineering by Alan Goffinski. We really have to change the energy in this place and I think we did.En dokumentär från 2022 av Eva Sjöstrand.

He has now sung more than 150 performances of that very role and is still not afraid of more to come. Although he was born in the hometown of maestro Giuseppe Verdi himself one will hardly find any Verdi in his otherwise big repertoire. He prefers to present his abilities in Mozart, Händel and even german songs, what really makes him an italian singer being totally non-italian. How the environment you grew up in shapes you, why Mozart is a phenomenal voice teacher and how realizing not being a tenor was one of the biggest disappointments in the life of Luca Pisaroni you will hear in the newest episode of "Parlando - opera talk"

Synopsis Let's face it. Brevity and wit are not always qualities one associates with new music. But today we offer a sample: this comic overture is less than 5 minutes long, and opens, as you just heard, with a Fellini-esque duet for piccolo and contrabassoon. The overture is entitled “Quantum Quirks of a Quick Quaint Quark,” and is a rather burlesque celebration of modern theoretical physics. Its alliterative title evokes those subatomic particles known as “quarks” that, we're told, make up our universe. And, since this music changes time signature so often, perhaps Heisenberg's “uncertainty principle” is thrown in for good measure. The music is by Marga Richter, who was born on this date in 1926 in Reedsburg, Wisconsin. Richter received her early music training in Minneapolis, and then moved to New York's Juilliard School. By the time of her death in 2020, she had composed over 75 works including an opera and two ballets, as well as two piano concertos and a variety of solo, chamber and symphonic works. "Composing,” said Richter,” is my response to a constant desire to transform my perceptions and emotions into music … Music is the way I speak to the silence of the universe."
