This London born drummer started his music career in the mid 80s as drummer and co founder of cult space-rock band Ozric Tentacles. Juggling a busy gig and festival schedule along with art school commitments, he completed his degree at Middlesex Polytechnic in graphic design and then promptly returned to music. His influences range from John Bonham, Phil Colins, Sly Dunbar, Steve Gadd, Billy Cobbam, Bernard Purdie, Alphonse Mouson, Jeff Poccaro, Tony Williams and Lenny White. Joining Acid Jazz act The Sandals as lead guitarist in 1990 saw tours follow and soon after he was introduced to Acid Jazz' new signing Jamiroquai completing frontman JK's new live band line up as their drummer. The band was quickly signed to Sony and he went on to record on the classic chart topping debut Emergency on Planet Earth LP playing drums, some guitar and co-writing the song If I Like It I Do It. A hectic schedule of touring and worldwide promotion followed, including the release of singles Too Young To Die, Blow Your Mind and Emergency on Planet Earth. Leaving the band in 94 and together with musician mates, funky guitar maverick from The Brand New Heavies Simon Bartholomew and bass player Nick Seymour, they formed the supergroup Akimbo also signed to Acid Jazz label. The band headlined Londons' Soho Jazz festival two years running appearing at Ronnie Scotts and Madame JoJo's Deep funk sessions hosted by legendary rare funk Dj and collector Keb Darge. By 1999 Nick and Keb Darge started their own independent label Deep Funk Records. Other collaborations include soul jazz keyboardist Jessica Lauren, Nu soul prodigies Vannessa Simon and Omar, FBI, Raw Deal and The Superphonics. Countless gigs, sessions and jams continue to this day with many of Londons top funk and soul musicians.
Joining me today is Pat garvey. Pat is a hugely talented drummer and educator, he has a very impressive CV including Noel Redding (Jimi Hendrix) Lonely Robot, Tim Booth, James and is a member of the instrumental (progressive tinged) Ozric Tentacles. Somehow, alongside his hectic playing schedule Pat has managed to fit in a whole other career as one of the finest educators in the UK. He is the Principal Lecturer at BIMM music institute in Brighton and has made 100 of contributions to drumming magazines from across the globe, including a regular contribution to the sorely missed Rhythm Magazine. Join Pat and myself as we talk about his amazing career so far, you wont be dissapointed! Pat, thank you so much for giving up your time so generously.

Show #701 features a spotlight on Ozric Tentacles's 1991 release, Strangeitude.
Electronic musician Jon Hopkins is well-known in certain circles as the creator of numerous thoughtful, yet in many cases danceable, records. He's also had his hand in some enormously commercially successful records, however, as a producer and guest musician, such as Coldplay's "Viva la Vida," as well as in several co-productions with Brian Eno. In this episode, he discusses the effect songs by Eno and Harold Budd, Ozric Tentacles, and Orbital had on him. See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

Podcast 131 - Richard Barbieri speaks! Mr Barbieri is probably best known for his tours of duty with two of Great Britain’s most important and enduring artbands: Japan and Porcupine Tree, he also makes his own solo records with a few choice chums. His newie is the follow-up to the expansive ‘Planets + Persona’, an introspective lucid mood piece entitled ‘Under A Spell’, which dovetails nicely with the new breed of Bandcamp bedroom heroes and the Streatham nu-jazz scene. Richard joins Billy Reeves via Kscopelink™ to talk post-Pandemic, Percy Jones and lucid dreams. PLUS ..new singles from Jonathan Hultén, Lunatic Soul, The Anchoress and Jon Gomm ALSO ...news of forthcoming luxurious releases on Kscope by The Pineapple Thief and Marillion AND …how about something by Ozric Tentacles, recorded in 1984 that still sounds as fresh as a daisy? Music On Your Own Terms 097 - Ed Wynne - Malcolm Segments, Desmond Wisps & Ozric Tentacles This episode I am ecstatic to be speaking with the absolute legend that is Mr Ed Wynne from The Ozric Tentacles, a band I have been following for over 20 years. Ed discusses his background, including his artistic upbringing with his dad being famous sculptor Sir David Wynne, being personally encouraged by George Harrison to play guitar, and his experimentation with his friend's Moog synthesizer. We discuss the new Ozrics album, what prompted him to record a solo album, his work with Jordan Rudess, and what it means to be able to tour and play music with his family. We also hear how Ed's synesthesia is helpful with mixing music, and finally he gives some great advice for musicians looking to make a career from music. Escuchar audio
Escuchar audio

McNally Waters is Larry John McNally and Harry Waters. Larry John McNally's songs have been recorded by some of the greatest artists of all time, including The Eagles, Aaron Neville, Bonnie Raitt, Mavis Staples, Rod Stewart and more.

Working Class Audio Session #132 with Ian Shepherd!!!Ian Shepherd is a mastering engineer owner of Mastering Media Ltd, host of The Mastering Show podcast as well as the founder of the website Production Advice. Over the last twenty years he's worked on literally thousands of CDs, DVDs and Blu-rays for all of the major record labels, TV stations and independents, including several number one singles and award-winning albums. Ian has been a fierce critic of the so-called “Loudness Wars” and in 2010 he organized the first Dynamic Range Day to raise awareness about the issue. He also developed two plugins with MeterPlus – Perception, which received an AudioMedia Gear Of The Year award in 2014, and Dynameter, which helps you achieve optimal audio dynamics for your music, and competitive loudness for online streaming. Ian has worked with Keane, Tricky, The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Deep Purple, The Orb, Leslie Garret, Culture Club, Porcupine Tree, Andy Weatherall, The Las, Ozric Tentacles, Christine Tobin, New Order and King Crimson amongst many others. Ian chats with Matt about the Loudness Wars, dynamics in music, family, clients, money matters and his plug in Dynameter.
- Some Skunk Funk (The Brecker Brothers) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R0oY_47pwJ8 - Sad but True (Metallica) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_4OfD-wmGs - Money (Pink Floyd) : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cpbbuaIA3Ds La musique dans cette vidéo : - Kaad Chuek (Cyro Torres) SUIS-MOI SUR MA PAGE FACEBOOK "MUSIC YOUR LIFE" : https://www.facebook.com/cyromusicyourlife ABONNE-TOI A MA CHAINE YOUTUBE : https://www.youtube.com/c/CyroTorres LE SITE WEB "MUSIC YOUR LIFE" : http://musicyourlife.net/

We get a little break from the rain but we are still pretty chilled out. This weeks' show starts out with one from Ozric Tentacles called Strangeitude and slowly builds with a rare one from Evan Marc (Bluetech) & Steve Hillage (System7). We then move into the psy-chill of Padmasana and their track Holistic Resonance. The sun starts to break through and we take it up a notch with one from Carbon Based Lifeforms called Interloper. Then we feature Vancouver's own The Mole with his excellent track If I Had A Nickel and Solar Fields takes us towards the end of the show with Cobalt 2.0. Born Gold wraps it up with his track Lethe from his most recent EP, Little Sleepwalker. Tracklist: Ozric Tentacles - Strangeitude Evan Marc & Steve Hillage - Resurface Padmasana - Holistic Resonance Carbon Based Lifeforms - Interloper The Mole - If I Had A Nickel Solar Fields - Cobalt 2.0 Born Gold - Lethe
A real ride through genres this week on the show. We start all space and psychedelic with a little live Ozric Tentacles before dropping some bass heavy tunes starting with Pretty Lights' heavy and incredibly wicked dubstep track "I Know The Truth". More chest rattling ensues with goodies from Santogold and edIT. From there we go into some hiphoppy breaks styles Pilote and the mighty 2econd Class Citizen (with a new album coming soon that's sure not to be slept on) as well as Yppah and a Beatles remix that puts Jay-Z to shame. The hour ends with some driving minimal techno from M.A.N.D.Y and Brinkmann dropping funk and 303 on our asses. Tracklist: Ozric Tentacles - Live Throbbe Pretty Lights - I Know The Truth Santogold - Creator (vs. Switch and Freq Nasty) Santogold - Anne (Switch Mix) edIT - If You Crump Stand Up Pilote - Microphones 2econd Class Citizen - The Way I Feel Yppah - Blue Schwinn Ill Chemist - Feel Alright M.A.N.D.Y. vs Booka Shade - Body Language (Jona Remix) Soul Center - Lopster

A really welcome change in style for the show this week with a warm Iboga style progressive set from Undertoad. Undertoad is Neil Coles from Newcastle, a folk musician who's love of the psychedelic came (partly) from a flat share with Ozric Tentacles in the 80s! Undertoad usually plays alongside his DJ partner PsyWave (Zoviet France). Track listing: 1 Ipanema - Jey & Ex 2 Terminal X - Tandem 3 My World - Supergroover / Xahno 4 City Lights - Rocky 5 Sweep Mama - Phony Orphants 6 Sleepless - Etic 7 System Float - Symphonix 8 Freedom - Suntree 9 Waiting - Dejavoo 10 Self Inflicted - Hopi / M Theory 11 Offline Providings - Hopi / Earthling Artist's Bio: So, Undertoad, dont ask! I'm Neil, i come from Newcastle and to quote Sam Cook, " I like psytrance for breakfast" ! Im a folk musician who developed a love for psychadelic music after living with the Ozric Tentacles in Wimbledon in the eighties, going to festivals and seeing bands like the Ullulators and The Oroonies, (still my favourite ever live band). I usually play alongside partner in psytrance PsyWave (Mark Zf of Zoviet France) Mark taught me how to build a set, how to create a mood on the dancefloor, we do harder faster more full on sets but tend to drift back to progressive uplifting tracks. bookings: colesneil@googlemail.com
