Troonrede en rijksbegroting waren een eerste bod van het minderheidskabinet-Jetten. Dat daarop niet direct werd toegehapt kon dan ook niet verrassen. De pirouettes en eerste bewegingen in de Algemene Politieke Beschouwingen verdienen een precieze observatie en duiding. Jaap Jansen en PG Kroeger zagen een soevereine maar niet foutloze Jesse Klaver, die zich presenteerde als de ware opvolger van Willem Drees en de polder van de zuilentijd. Back to the Fifties. Duidelijk was dat hij met zichzelf had afgesproken dat-ie goedgemutst zou blijven. Hij was futloos, af en toe verbazend ambtelijk op details. Vaker geestverwanten beschimpend dan het kabinet. Met zijn zoveelste motie van wantrouwen liet hij zien dat alleen PVV, FVD en BBB meteen nu het kabinet al weg willen, waardoor hij de positie van Jetten en zijn ploeg onbedoeld versterkte. D66-fractievoorzitter Jan Paternotte – voorheen vaak de koning van het debat - was minder in vorm. Hij vond de toon niet waarmee handreikingen gewicht kregen als serieus gebaar. Wel raak was zijn betoog dat PRO veel kon leren van het kabinet Rutte II in 2013 toen Alexander Pechtolds linksliberalen met ChristenUnie en SGP samen als 'constructieve drie' bereid bleken VVD en PvdA aan meerderheden te helpen. Paternotte valideerde daarmee de analyse van Joop van den Berg in Betrouwbare Bronnen 604, dat de coalitie in de Buma en Letschert fasen van de kabinetsformatie het werk afgeraffeld had. Heel even opperde Jesse Klaver een extra formatiefase in te lassen om zo alsnog een brede coalitie te creëren, maar niemand ging er op in. Daarvoor is het waarschijnlijk net te vroeg. Premier Rob Jetten werd gered door Mona Keijzer. Zij viel Wilders aan met het verwijt dat hij hun beider kabinet-Schoof had opgeblazen net toen dit zijn rechtse zegenrijke werk zou doen. Niets hadden ze waargemaakt. Had hij geen 'Schoofspijt'? Dit mondde uit in een wederzijdse scheldkanonnade waarin alle separatistische frustraties op de radicaal-rechtse flank ongeremd tot uiting kwamen. 'Verraad', 'liegen', 'lafhartigheid' schetterde door de Kamer. Van blokvorming op rechts was geen sprake meer. Keijzers ‘Project 2029’ bleek een bomgordel. Wilders legde JA21 zelfs nog even uit dat Joost Eerdmans een sufferd was. CDA-chef Henri Bontenbal meldde - hevig geïrriteerd over Keijzers aanmatigend beroep op christendemocratische wortels en waarden - dat hij uitzag naar ‘brede en stabiele samenwerking’. Precies wat zij op radicaalrechts gedemonteerd had. Toch moet ook PRO op zijn tellen passen. Klaver zal niet mee willen maken dat de vakbeweging straks moet vaststellen dat PRO niet levert, als enkele partijen rechts van de VVD Jetten te hulp schieten in ruil voor spiegeltjes en kraaltjes. Zij willen geen verkiezingen en geen premier Klaver. En de VVD evenmin. Dan kan de polder dan maar liever, zonder Klaver desnoods, een eigen deal sluiten met Jettens adjudant Hans Vijlbrief, de minister van Sociale Zaken en Werkgelegenheid. Het nieuwste thema in deze APB kwam van Laurens Dassen van Volt: AI als existentiële uitdaging. De premier bleek meer dan geprepareerd. In een vurig betoog van rijkgeschakeerde details schetste hij hoe Nederland samen met Frankrijk in de EU en de Verenigde Naties een serie strategische initiatieven met andere hightech naties ontplooit. De alliantie van ASML en het Franse Mistral is in dit cruciaal domein de avant garde in en vanuit Europa. Dat Emmanuel Macron Jetten al in Veldhoven had opgezocht was veelzeggend. In de bioscoop draait nu de prachtfilm over De Gaulle: Liberté. De Algemene Politieke Beschouwingen zijn voorbij, maar de koers van het kabinet is nog steeds niet helder. Gaat het kabinet over rechts? Of toch over links, nadat de BBB op de valreep de motie van wantrouwen tegen het kabinet steunde, die de PVV indiende? Jetten denkt dat er niet meer met de BBB valt te praten, maar de BBB zélf zei toch te willen blijven praten met het kabinet, ondanks de steun voor de motie van wantrouwen. "Het geeft een gevoel van stilstand", zegt journalist Margriet Brandsma. "De vraag of ze gaan samenwerken met rechtse partijen of juist met linkse partijen ligt al op tafel vanaf het moment dat dit kabinet aantrad". "De bereidheid om over je eigen schaduw heen te stappen, ontbreekt", zegt Taco Zimmerman, algemeen directeur bij AVROTROS. "Je zou natuurlijk op deelonderwerpen best wat water bij de wijn kunnen doen. Dat vind ik gewoon jammer."  Aan tafel zitten Margriet Brandsma, Taco Zimmerman en Spraakmaker Berend Sommer. 

De algemene politieke beschouwingen draaien dit jaar om één vraag: kiest de regering een route over links of over rechts. Na 25 uur debat en een troonrede van een minuut of 20 minuten is de conclusie helder. De impasse rond die vraag is nog lang niet opgelost. Coalitiepartijen D66 en CDA houden vast aan het idee van een breed draagvlak. Coalitiepartij VVD blijft kijken naar JA21. Tijdens het debat maakten JA21 en BBB allebei een uitglijer, die de route over rechts minder waarschijnlijk maakt. JA21 liet zich in de kaart kijken door een onhandige uitspraak. En BBB zette zichzelf buiten spel door een onhandige stemming. Onder normale omstandigheden. Maar het is nog maar helemaal de vraag of dit normale omstandigheden zijn. In het Europees Parlement schetst hij een unieke relatie met Europa, met plannen voor deelname aan Erasmus+ en Horizon, betere voorwaarden voor digitale handel en een geïntegreerde markt voor financiële diensten, terwijl Canada energie en kritieke mineralen kan leveren. Brussel en Ottawa presenteren het partnerschap nadrukkelijk niet als anti-Amerikaanse alliantie, ondanks dreigende taal van Donald Trump over handel met de EU. KLM verkent vier toekomstscenario's voor 2030 in reactie op het aanhoudend zware weer in de luchtvaartsector. Luchtvaartexpert aan de TU Delft Joris Melkert legt uit dat varianten worden doorgerekend waarbij onderdelen worden afgestoten, meer wordt uitbesteed en kosten verder worden verlaagd, mogelijk via ingrepen in personeelskosten. De marges bij Air France-KLM blijven volgens het moederbedrijf te laag, waardoor KLM intern onderzoekt hoe het bedrijf rendabel kan blijven zonder directe gevolgen al vast te leggen. In Den Haag beginnen vandaag de Algemene Politieke Beschouwingen, waarin het minderheidskabinet steun moet vinden voor de Miljoenennota. GroenLinks-PvdA en JA21 dwingen het kabinet om duidelijk voor links of rechts te kiezen, terwijl kleinere partijen als ChristenUnie, BBB en SGP in zowel Tweede als Eerste Kamer cruciaal kunnen worden voor wisselende meerderheden. Het debat start om 10.00 uur, met Jesse Klaver als eerste spreker namens de grootste oppositiepartij. De woningbouw loopt verder vertraging op door bezwaarschriften en zienswijzen die met AI zijn gegenereerd en daardoor langer en juridisch onzuiver zijn. Dat blijkt uit onderzoek van BNR en Cobouw. Gemeenten, advocaten en ontwikkelaars zien bezwaren met foutieve jurisprudentie, verwijzingen naar niet-geldende wetten en standaardteksten die slecht aansluiten op de lokale context, terwijl het ministerie van Binnenlandse Zaken het fenomeen vooralsnog alleen ‘in de gaten houdt’. De extra tijd en kosten die deze procedures met zich meebrengen, gelden als nieuwe rem op een toch al stroperige woningbouw. Ursula von der Leyen presenteert in Straatsburg haar jaarlijkse State of the European Union, waarin ze plannen voor het komende jaar en de Europese prioriteiten schetst. Verwacht worden onder meer een leeftijdsgrens van 15 jaar voor zelfstandig gebruik van sociale media en een migratienoodwet naar aanleiding van de druk op de Spaanse enclave Ceuta. Town [00:23:53] When Others Start Following You Developers who worked in Reading came to Pottsville only because Alvernia went there They followed the university into a market it had proven out He level of government showed up when the building opened Barry did not have to help; he saw the community impact and engaged [00:39:22] Why He Signs Up in Five to Six Year Chunks These turnarounds are five or six year processes Real value comes from bringing what you know to a business that does not know it Every institution is a new Rubik's cube and a new community to impact He says it feels like Bonds are also classified based on their credit ratings, ranging from top-rated "investment grade" (BBB or higher) to "junk" or high-yield bonds (below BBB). I share more about the increased risk and potential reward of high-yield bonds, and why defaults can lead to stressful and lengthy processes for investors. Why Have Bonds Declined in 2026?   Why have bond prices declined even though the economy is not in recession? There is an inverse relationship between bond prices and interest rates. When interest rates rise, as has been the case in 2026, bond prices fall. Even a seemingly small increase is sufficient to push bond prices down and reduce the total return for many bond funds. Rising rates mean many bond funds have seen negligible or negative total returns this year.   The Broader Factors Influencing Interest Rates   There are several drivers behind the upward movement in interest rates. First, expectations that the Federal Reserve will hike rates to curb inflation have affected investor behavior. Second, growing government deficits and the issuance of more national debt lead investors to demand higher yields as compensation for greater risk. Third, technology companies, especially those investing heavily in AI, have issued substantial new debt, pushing rates even higher as they compete with Treasuries for investor capital. Much like the stock market, the bond market is subject to various economic forces and investor sentiment, making timing extremely difficult.   The Case for Keeping Bonds in Your Retirement Plan   Despite the recent decline in prices, bonds remain an important part of a retirement portfolio. Historically, bonds have exhibited significantly less risk and volatility than stocks, especially during market downturns. Keeping some portion of assets in bonds provides stability, reduces overall portfolio fluctuations, is a reliable source of income when the stock market underperforms. However, if AI is merely saying what is most likely based on current actions, like a tarot reading, then if all current policies are designed for war then isn't that what we will get? Isn't that what Alex Karp of Palantir said would happen? And isn't “Genesis” also “skynet”?For those left waiting for something “big” to happen it will be disappointing to learn that it already has.
