S7E20 went out Live on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 16 May 2024.  Gary Moore kicked us off with Friday on my Mind.   In Evolutions we continue to look at the evolution of the Foo Fighters, this week's track was the acoustic version of Everlong.  Twisted Triplets featured tracks called ‘Change of Heart'.  Tom Petty, Bruce Dickinson and Jimmy Barnes all had tracks with that name.       Immortals this week came from The Doors.  This one is special, ‘The End' is one of the most atmospheric pieces of music ever committed to vinyl and showcases Jim Morrison at his best.  One is tempted to say they don't make ‘em like this anymore.  They do, but the times have changed and you had to be there I guess.   The Diabolical Challenge looked at four bands beginning with the letter ‘T'.  The idea is that we have 4 albums, and you can only pick one.  This week we had: Texas Hippie Coalition – Pride of TexasTestament – Dark Roots of the EarthThin Lizzy – Cold SweatTesla – Don't De-Rock Me Bomb Crocodile and Slow Panda's picks of the week were Bullet For My Valentine ‘All These Things I Hate (revolve around me) and Korn ‘Blind'.    Please NOTE that if you listen to TSORR on Google Podcasts they are shutting it down and forcing podcasters onto YouTube Music.  You can find us on plenty of other sites if this happens (Buzzsprout, Apple, Castbox, Deezer).  The TSORR website www.thestoryofrockandroll.com will always be able to help.  You can also always contact TSORR on Facebook, X or Instagram.     Artists Featured: Gary Moore, Baton Rouge, Dead City Ruins, Ozzy Osbourne, Ted Nugent, Steve Jones, Green Day, Smith / Kotzen, Rachet Dolls, Sebastian Bach, Accept, Wolfmother, The Angels, Foo Fighters, Oasis, Def Leppard, Iron Maiden, Tom Petty, Jimmy Barnes, Bruce Dickinson, Sixx AM, Hatebreed, Danzig, Black Sabbath, The Doors, Texas Hippie Coalition, testament, Thin Lizzy, Tesla, Pearl Jam, The Answer, Bullet For My Valentine, Korn, Diverted Disorder, Exhorder, AnnihilatorThe Story of Rock and Roll. S7E18 went out on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 25 May 2024.  It was nice to be back doing a live show and chatting to all the wonderful people on TSORR Central.  We kicked off with Metallica and ‘The Struggle Within' and the rock didn't stop for the next 3 hours. This week we played the first track in a 10-week series called Evolution.  This was inspired by an article I read and a playlist that tracked the evolution of the Foo Fighters.  I will do a track per week and then we'll do the Evolution of the next band after that.   Note that if you listen to TSORR on Google Podcasts they are shutting it down and forcing podcasters onto YouTube Music.  The problem with that, is you just can't get through the red tape, and the shows get blocked due to the convoluted licencing structures.  You can find us on plenty of other sites if this happens.  The TSORR website www.thestoryofrockandroll.com will always be able to help.  You can also always contact TSORR on Facebook, X, or Instagram.     This week's Twisted Twins featured tracks called ‘Rain'.  Once again, we had triplets, it turns out that The Cult, Dead City Ruins and Candlebox all had kids called 'Rain'.   Immortals this week came from Iron Maiden.  We listened to the title track off 1983's Powerslave.  Adrian Smith told a great story about his guitar solo on the track which was worth retelling.   The Diabolical Challenge looked at four bands beginning with the letter ‘R'.  The idea is that we have 4 albums, and you can only pick one.  This week we had: Rammstein – MutterRush – Moving PicturesThe Rolling Stones – Voodoo LoungeRodriguez – Cold Fact Artists Featured: Metallica, Nazareth, ZZ Top, Alice Cooper, Dave Hause, Kickin' Valentina, Thin Lizzy, ACDC, Slash feat Iggy Pop, Pebbleman, 12th Avenue, Pearl Jam, Accept, The Cult, Dead City Ruins, Candlebox, Theory of a Deadman, Buckcherry, Probot, Tom Petty, Foo Fighters, Live, Rob Halford, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Iron Maiden, Rammstein, Rush, The Rolling Stones, Rodriguez, Thundermother, Grand Funk Railroad, Megadeth, Exhorder, Halestorm, Zakk Wylde, Arch Enemy.  The Story of Rock and Roll. This week pour yourself a pint of Victoria Bitter and join us in welcoming back the CEO of Aussie Pub Rock: Craig Elvin! This time he's with us live on American soil, so we decided to play a special version of the drinking game we call, “WILD CARD”! Robert and Craig go head-to-head in a game where they try to get points by naming the obscure band that is being played. Of course, we made it more interesting by adding an Aussie twist. This is a heated 10-song battle, so you can only imagine the state our players were in by the end! What is it that we do here at InObscuria? Besides conducting ridiculous game shows, we exhume obscure Rock n' Punk n' Metal in one of 3 categories: the Lost, the Forgotten, or the Should Have Beens. In this episode we take a listen to all 3, as we let our contestants pick a randomly obscure song by the decade in which it was released from a creatively curated playlist. Our good friend Jeremy has been in bands with your hosts; and is an amazing guitarist and all-around music aficionado.Songs this week include:Heavy Pettin' – “In And Out Of Love” from Lettin' Loose (1983) Fair Game – “Keep It Up” from Beauty & The Beast (1991) Thunder Fox – “Every Single Day” from Love At First Sniff (2019) Poster Children – “Dynamite Chair” from Tool Of The Man (1993) Flickertail – “Right Behind The Eyes” from Right Behind The Eyes - single (2019) Thundermother – “Racing On Main Street” from Thundermother (2018) Truck – “Unconventionally Rising” from Exploring The Wah (2022) Royal Crescent Mob – “Mob's Revenge” from Omerta (1987) Dead City Ruins – “In And Out Of Love” from Shockwave (2022) Fishbone – “In The Cube” from Chim Chim's Badass Revenge (1996) Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://twitter.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!: https://www.redbubble.com/people/inobscuria/og-shopCheck out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/If you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/

ABOUT AVALANCHE:Avalanche is a 4 piece hard rock band from Western Sydney, Australia playing short, fast & loud, no-bull Aussie rock 'n roll for a new generation and attracting massive attention on a global scale. The band formed in an old steel factory in 2018 where they used to rehearse. They've since made a name for themselves as part of the vanguard of new Australian rock, with their tenacious work ethic, frenzied touring schedule, and a raucous, high-energy live shows, which routinely leave their audiences covered in blood, sweat, and beers. They've supported major US bands Buckcherry, Fozzy, and The Iron Maidens at sold-out shows, as well as Australian legends, Palace Of The King, Kingswood, Dead City Ruins, The Southern River Band, Child & The Poor, and have dates with Rose Tattoo coming up in 2024. The band have set their sights overseas, having headlined their first international tour and rock festival; ROCKTOBER FEST in Nouméa, New Caledonia in October 2022 to some of their most riotous crowds yet and touring Japan in March 2024, with more overseas tours in the works... Avalanche are the winners of Passport To Airlie 2023, Australia's largest live original band competition at Airlie Beach Festival of Music where they shared the stage with Ian Moss, Freznal Rhomb, Dragon, The Superjesus, Ross Wilson , and more, and as a result, they will be returning in 2024 Nov 7-10 with a headlining slot,Since then, they've joined the country's foremost booking agency, Premier Artists, part of the Mushroom Group, as their exclusive booking agent for Australia, joining the ranks of Australia's highest profile artists (Airbourne, The Angels, The Screaming Jets, Jimmy Barnes...) as well as a management deal with Big Apachee that already sees the band transcending to new heights.Avalanche continues to play to packed audiences with rave reviews and sold-out shows at some of Australia's most iconic venues including festivals. Over the years, the band became mainstays at Sydney's most loved heavy music venue; Frankie's Pizza By The Slice, playing their infamous birthday bash on the venue's 8th birthday and recording the music video for 'Bottle Of Sin' there just before the venue was demolished for a train station. Always showing no signs of slowing down, they've gone from major support slot to festival slots, even undertaking a month-long residency at Sydney's best alternative music pub The Duke Of Enmore, and playing at halftime at Pro Wrestling Australia's sold-out show at Liberty Hall.Known for their high production music videos, the band has worked with HAUS Party [The Amity Affliction, Peking Duk, Guy Sebastion, North Lane] on their first music video, and 5 videos later, they've amassed a couple hundred thousand views on YouTube & social media, similar figures on Spotify, and a few thousand CD's sold worldwide. Season 6 Episode 11 went out live on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 16 March 2023.  Badlands with Jake E. Lee and the late Ray Gillan got us out the blocks with a track called ‘Devil's Stomp'.  From there we had some more devils courtesy of Chickenfoot and a track called ‘Different Devil' off Chickenfoot III.  It was pretty much full-bore rock and roll for the first hour with bands like Godsmack, Stone Sour, and Marilyn Manson.  In particular, Stone Sour with ‘Do Me a Favour' and Godsmack off their brand new album Lighting Up The Sky and a track called “Red White and Blue made a good pairing.   By request from Ash a brand new listener we had Shinedown with Breaking Inside' and then Rival Sons with ‘Burn Down Los Angeles'.  From there is went a bit off the rails and served as a reminder that TSORR is not for young children as demonstrated by, Buckcherry's ‘Somebody F*****d With Me', and Metallica's cover of The Anti Nowhere League's infamous  'So What'.  Then we went back to TSORR roots with ‘Samurai' off Assault Attack from The Michael Schenker Group and then a track from Scorpions which made it a Schenker family affair.  Pretty much the only time you can get the Schenker bros together is if you play their songs back-to-back.  Sad ☹. For this week's Ultimate Challenge, we looked at 1987:  the four albums featured were from Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Guns ‘n Roses, and Whitesnake.  We had a great 4-minute interview with Ryno Theron, vocalist and guitarist from Truth Decayed, and followed this by we playing their brand-new track ‘Death By Design'.  It was a hell of a busy show;  we played more SA music with a brand-new track from Jack Hammer Band who are flying the flag for our beloved Piet Botha, then Blue Scream featuring my good friend Roger Kaye on vocals along with Robin Gallagher and Tully McCully.  This week's Immortals was 13 min long, check it out, ‘Rime of the Ancient Mariner' off Powerslave sounded amazing.  Iron Maiden are something else.  I recall hearing Phil Wright play the whole track back in 1984 when the album was released.  We wrapped up with Jethro Tull's Aqualung and Volbeat's ‘Shotgun Blues', especially for Ian and Hardus, and said cheers with Bloodstone by the mighty Judas Priest.     Artists featured:  Badlands, Chickenfoot, Cinderella, Type O Negative, Marilyn Manson, Stone Sour, Godsmack, L.A. Guns, Rival Sons, Shinedown, Buckcherry, Metallica, Ramones, Michael Schenker Group, Scorpions, Dio, Girish and the Chronicles, Dead City Ruins, Danny Worsnop, Mötley Crüe, Def Leppard, Guns ‘n' Roses, Whitesnake, Truth Decayed, Frank Zappa, Blue Scream, Jack Hammer Band, Sheryl Crow, Iron Maiden, Jethro Tull, Volbeat, Judas Priest.        The Story of Rock and Roll. It was an unprecedented year for rock n' punk n' metal, and we want to shed as much light on these killer cuts as possible. Some of these groups and albums we've talked about before, but we thought it was worth the time to recognize all of the amazing recorded output of 2022!What is it we do here at InObscuria? Finally, we reached the end of Season 5.  The final show, episode 52 went out live at 19h00 on 29 Dec 2022 on rebel Rock Radio.  At the risk of boring you all I just have to say that once again it all happened under really trying circumstances.  I hope you all appreciate the lengths I have to go through to get this show out.  The Wi-Fi has been non-existent all day, I can't even upload the MCR Rock Review.  We have more load shedding in an hour's time and I can't get onto the Rebel Rock Site so I am flying blind.  That said this show is a wrap-up of all the albums we checked out this year.  Well, not all the albums because we checked out 65 new releases this year.  Out of 157 albums added this year 65 were 2022 releases.  I did my best to play you as much as possible from these 65.  We kicked off with Halestorm and the title track of their release Back From The Dead.  From there we had Motor Sister and a track called 'Can't Get Enough'.  From there we listened to ‘Take What You Want' off Diamond Star Halos, the latest offering from Def Leppard.  We went to Germany and took a listen to Rammstein and to Sinner.  Desolation Angels out of the UK (with South African bassist Clive Pearson who used to be in a SA Metal band called Lynx back in the ‘80s) gave us a track called 'Walking On Water' off Burning Black.  We also heard from Tony Martin ex Black Sabbath and Joe Lynn Turner ex Rainbow.  Both these guys both put out strong albums in the form of Thorns and Belly of the Beast respectively.   Five Finger Death Punch and Disturbed both made the cut and sounded awesome.  It was time for a bit of Metal from Soulfly and a track called 'Ancestors'.  We also heard 'Black Butterfly' from Candlemass.  After checking out some late ‘80's early ‘90s style rock from the Dead Daisies, Skid Row, and Aussie youngsters Dead City Ruins we hit the blues with our very own Dan Patlansky whose Shelter of Bones was given the No 2 spot by Blues Rock Magazine.  The South African scene was also represented by L.A. Cobra, The Devil's Party Band, Infanteria, and Diverted Disorder.    Finally, we got to the top of the list and played out with Ozzy Osbourne, Parkway Drive, The Halo Effect, and Megadeth, and the best album of 2022 according to me went to Arch Enemy with Deceivers.  We had a few minutes left so we checked out with scenes from forthcoming attraction in 2023 in the form of Blink 182 and the single they dropped months ago called ‘Edging'.  I hope to see you all for 2023 and Season 6 of The Story of Rock and Roll. PS.  Notable mentions we just didn't get to Keator, Slipknot, Soilwork, Ghost, and Machine Head, what a year for music.   Artists featured:  Halestorm, Herman Frank, Motor Sister, Def Leppard, Sinner, Rammstein, Joe Lynn Turner, Nickelback, Desolation Angels, Disturbed, Five Finger Death Punch, Eddie Vedder, Billy Idol, Alter Bridge, Tony Martin, Candlemass, Soulfly, The Dead Daisies, Skid Row, Dead City Ruins, Dan Patlansky, L.A. Episode 48 of Season 5 aired at 19h00 on 1 Dec 2022 on Rebel Rock Radio.  It was a tricky show because of the wifi signal jumping in and out.  The podcast is 100% so that is a small mercy I am thankful for.  We kicked off with a double header in the form of the first two tracks on W.A.S.P's magnum opus The Crimson Idol.  From there is was a bit of Southern Rock from Whiskey Myers and then over to Ireland for some Therapy? and a track called ‘Unbeliever' off the clritically acclaimed Troublegum.  We stayed with the late ‘80s type guitar driven rock with Badlands and a track called 'Dancing on the Edge'.  The Badlands debut album with Jake E. Lee, Ray Gillen, Eric Singer and Greg Chaisson was the first CD I ever bought and has a special place in my heart.  Black Sabbath and Thin Lizzy classics ‘Killing Yourself to Live' and 'Some Day She's Going to Hit Back' were up next and then from these classics we got up to date with two albums released in the last month; Soilworks' Overgivenheten and Sakis Tolis's Among the Fires of Hell.  Mötley Crüe's track ‘Motherfucker of the Year' off Saints of Los Angeles elicited some nominations from the listeners, so I will collect a few more and we can discuss that another time.  The Offspring and Blink 182 hit the spot for the ‘90's kids.   We spent a lot of time talking Metallica, they dropped a first track off the new album 72 Seasons this week and the 2023/24 Tour is kicking off soon.  They are doing two gigs per city with different opening acts and different sets each night.  I played Pantera, Five Finger Death Punch and Mammoth WVH all of who will be part of the M72 Tour.  To end off we checked out the ladies, Taylor Momsen and Lzzy Hale and said farewell and RIP to Christine Mc Vie of Fleetwood Mac who passed away this week.  We listened to her play and sing ‘Oh Daddy' off the multi-million selling Rumours album.  SA bands were a bit thin on the ground tonight but we squoze in The Uninvited and The Burning before saying cheers and playing out with KISS and their anthem ‘ Let me Go Rock ‘n' Roll.  Thanks for listening, much appreciated.  Cheers until next time.  Artists featured:  W.A.S.P, Whiskey Myers, Therapy? Badlands, KilliT, Warrant, Black Sabbath, Thin Lizzy, Soilwork, Sakis Tolis, Whitesnake, Mötley Crüe, The Offspring, Blink 182, Candlemass, Burning Witches, Joe Bonamassa, Free, rave, Pantera, Five Finger Death Punch, Mammoth WVH, Matthew Goode Band, Godsmack, Motor Sister, Dead City Ruins, The Pretty Reckless, Halestorm, Fleetwood Mac, Kid Rock, Van Halen, Parkway Drive, Metallica, The Uninvited, the Burning, Iron Maiden, KISS.  The Story of Rock and Roll. Episode 45 of Season 5 went out live on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 10 Nov 2022.  The show kicked off with ACDC and a track off Let There Be Rock called ‘Overdose'.  From there we continued with Black Stone Cherry, Def Leppard, and White Zombie.  We went into the ‘00s and cranked the Nu Metal with Drowning Pool and the title track off the Sinner album, the one that gave the world 'Bodies' and 'Broken Home' off Papa Roach's Infest album.  Strangely enough, we went from that into some mellow blues, courtesy of Popa Chubby and ZZ Top with Trouble and Blue Jean Blues respectively.  It was the Papa to Popa connection that did it. From the Blues, we checked out Iron Maiden and another track off Power Slave called ‘Back In the Village'.  Herman Frank, ex of Accept got a look-in with a track off his latest album Two For a Lie.  We stayed in Germany for some Rammstein and a bit later 'Blackout' from Scorpions, another song written about Eskom.  A highlight of the show was the back-to-back pairing of Tony Martin and Joe Lynn Turner, two vocalists who have played in the best bands in the world and have both released solo alums in the last 12 months.  Joe Lynn Turner has Peter Tägtgren producing and doing the guitar work and it is one hell of a combination.  We had some more Nu Metal courtesy of Limp Bizkit and then used Courtney Love's band Hole,  with a track called 'Rock Star' to lead us into a quick farewell and RIP to Nazareth's Dan McCafferty who passed away this week.  As explained on the show Nazareth are a very special band to those of us growing up in the '70s and '80s and we thanked Dan for writing and performing some awesome classic songs.   We took in 'When Your Love is Gone' by Assie legend Jimmy Barnes and then spent nearly nine minutes on the Thin Lizzy classic ‘Still In Love With You'.  It came off the Live album called Life and features all the Thin Lizzy guitarists Eric Bell, Scott Gorham, Brian Robertson, Gary Moore, Snowy White, and John Sykes.  Texas Hippie Coalition moved the show out of the ballads and Night Ranger and Queensrÿche continued the excellent medicine and took it to the next level.  The new Queensrÿche, Digital Noise Alliance' is fantastic, check it out.  This show just had too much material and not enough time.  We tipped the hat to Judas Priest for their well-deserved and long overdue inclusion into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, we listened to another awesome Vivian Campbell solo and heard how powerful Andrew Freeman is on a track called ‘Year of The Gun' and we squeezed in an amazingly emotional track from My Chemical Romance called 'The World is Ugly'.  The consensus on the chat was that MCR are correct on this point.  Cheers all, see you next week, I hope you enjoy the episode.     Artists featured:  ACDC, Black Stone Cherry, Def Leppard, White Zombie, Drowning Pool, Papa Roach, Popa Chubby, ZZ Top, Iron Maiden, Herman Frank, Rammstein, Anthrax, Dead City Ruins, Burning Rain, Skid Row, Five Finger Death Punch, Scorpions, Tony Martin, Joe Lynn Turner, Leslie West Tribute, Limp Bizkit, Hole, Nazareth, The Gaslight Anthem, Jimmy Barnes, Thin Lizzy, Texas Hippie Coalition, Night Ranger, Queensrÿche, Halestorm, Judas Priest, Last In Line, Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Johnny Cash, In Flames     The Story of Rock and Roll. Melbourne rock outfit Dead City Ruins are preparing for "the biggest, most ambitious shows on home soil to date" this weekend, when they finally get to hold the official launch parties for last years album Shockwave.Another typically hard rocking slab of goodness from Dead City Ruins, Shockwave also marked the debut album for vocalist Steve Welsh. Although Welsh had been performing live with the band for a number of years, Shockwave marks the first time he has contributed vocals to an album, making this weekend's launch shows even more important. With shows at Sydney's Factory Floor on November 11 and the Corner Hotel in Melbourne on November 12, Welsh stopped by for a chat with HEAVY to let us in on what to expect."These shows are album launch shows," Welsh affirmed, "so Shockwave, the album, will be launching this weekend which is very exciting."We press Welsh on the claim that these are the most ambitious shows on home soil to date, which he stood by emphatically."Yes, I would say so," he nodded quickly. "As we always do we've put a lot of effort into our shows, but with this one we've gone through everything and figured out what's going to be the best experience, tried to add in a few things that we haven't done before which will be a bit of a surprise when you are at the show. I would say they're definitely going to be the best shows we've done on home soil to this date."In the full interview, Steve talks more about the shows and what to expect, the reception to Shockwave, which songs from the album go down best live, mixing his songs with the back catalogue and how easy it is to transition, settling in to the role as frontman, their recent support with KISS, what tips DCR picked up from working with them, new music and more.

Episode 44 of season 5 aired on 3 November 2022 at 7 pm sharp on Rebel Rock Radio.  It was a cracker of an episode with plenty of new albums and plenty of rock from around the world.  First out the blocks we had The Beatles' classic ‘Day Tripper' off a tribute to The Beatles album called Butchering the Beatles.  This track featured Jack Blades, Tommy Shaw, and Doug Aldrich and it's a guitar fest of note.  From there we heard from Guns ‘n' Roses with a live version of ‘Pretty Tied Up' followed by a band called Paradox and a track of their excellent album Pangea called 'Cheat and Pretend'.   We mixed in the legends with the newer artists by taking a track off Ozzy Osbourne's new album Patient Number 9 and following Oz with Dead City Ruins and a track called “Drifter'.  We heard a track off Herman Franks' 2021 release Two For a Lie.  Texas Hippie Coalition went down well as did another track off the Phil X and the Drills EP called Stupid Good Looking, Vol 1.  There was a lot from Germany on the show, totally unplanned but along with Paradox we had Scorpions, Iron Allies, Herman Frank, on his own and in Iron Allies, and also Rammstein with their strange tune known as B*********.  The SA music came from Jasper Dan, Ross Harding, and L.A. Cobra and then we took in the new Skid Row and a track off Feel It Live which is a live album recorded by The Stranglers in 2013 when they were on Tour promoting the Giants album, the first with Hugh Cornwells replacement Baz Warne in the band.  The end was nice and heavy with Eluveitie, Soilwork, and Lamb of God.  From Lamb of God we went to Neil Young in that typical extreme contrasting style that TSORR is known and loved for.  Thanks for listening, please share the podcast with anyone who may be interested and you can contact TSORR on the website or Facebook page.     Artists featured:  Butchering the Beatles, Guns ‘n' Roses, Paradox, Ozzy Osbourne, Dead City Ruins, Texas Hippie Coalition, Phil X and the Drills, Scorpions, The Pretty Reckless, Herman Frank, Alter Bridge, The Gaslight Anthem,   Billy Idol, The Rolling Stones, Joe Lynn Turner, Iron Allies, Iron Maiden, Rammstein, Metallica, Queensrÿche, Raven, Cold Chisel, Overdrivers, Joe Bonamassa, Jasper Dan, Ross Harding, L.A. Every now and then I discover a band that's got a few albums out but I'd never heard of them and their music quickly captures my heart. That's what happened with Dead City Ruins and their new album, Shockwave. The band is heavily influenced by 1990s hard rock and grunge, but the band has a knack for writing catchy and sometimes anthemic songs with great hooks and the musicianship is top notch. Guitarist Tommy Cain joined me from Brisbane to discuss the making of the new record, his musical background, his and the band's influences, working with producer Gene "Machine" Freeman, and more. Episode 42 of Season 5 kicked off at 19h00 on 20 Oct 2022.  The show was live on Rebel Rock Radio and made up for last week's disaster after the lightning strike.  Apologies again for that little abortion, it's nice to be back in control and with a new inverter to keep the load shedding at bay.  The show kicked off with Accept and a track called “What's Done is Done' off The Rise of Chaos.  Mark Tornillo on vocals and Wolf Hoffman on lead guitar. Then we took a listen to a band that was new to me called Dead City Ruins and a track called 'Preacher'.  They've got four albums out and they hail from Australia.  The classic rock flag flew for a while while we heard from Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and ACDC before chilling to Audioslave with ‘Like a Stone' and then ‘Rats' from Pearl Jam.  'Like a Stone' hit a billion YouTube views this week so that was worth celebrating.  We also checked out KISS with the seldom-played 'Do You Love Me'.  This was off Kiss Alive IV and has Peter Criss on drums and Tommy Thayer on guitar, check out the interview I did with Tommy Thayer in the podcast list on 28 Nov 2019.   What a nice guy.    The Johnny Kongos classic 'Tokoloshe Man', recorded back in 1971, sounded great and stands up well as did another South African classic from a band called Big Sky.  We got into the heavier stuff with Motorhead and UFO and from there it was guitar time and a track from White Lion called 'Fight To Survive' featuring the amazing Vito Bratta on guitar.  The story of Mike Slammer's involvement with Warrant and Joey Allen, was briefly covered then we got into some metal courtesy of Claymorean and South Africa's own Infanteria out of Cape Town and some more local music with Jasper Dan and Black Bone Nation.  This week the Punk came from the USA in the form of Green Day with 'Welcome to Paradise' off 1991's Kerplunk.  We also heard a track, relevant to the whole world right now called "The Economy Is Suffering' by  Anti-Flag.  Dave Hause with his track 'Bearing Down' off Kick was a highlight for me and is pretty deep.  In This Moment showed us all how good a rave could be if Maria Brink was running the show and we went heavy again with Parkway Drive and Megadeth.  the show closed with Lamb of God and a track called 'Ditch' off their new album Omens.  I said that we would play out with Slipknot but then changed my mind and did the LOG instead.    Artists featured:  Accept, Cancer Bats, Dead City Ruins, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, ACDC, Black Label Society, Joe Bonamassa, Audioslave, Pearl Jam, Godsmack, KISS, Judas Priest, Johnny Kongos, Big Sky, Motörhead, Warrant, Anti-Flag, Green Day, Claymorean, Infanteria, Black Bone Nation, Jasper Dan, Crowded House, Dave Hause, In This Moment, Marilyn Manson, Parkway Drive, Megadeth, Tribute To Leslie West, Wonderboom, UK Subs, My Chemical Romance, Lamb of GodThe Story of Rock and Roll. Dead City Ruins are one of this country's most recognizable names on the touring circuit.Their blending of old school rock with blues and hard rock has seen the band win over new fans every time they step out on stage, with their 2018 album Never Say Die finally seeing them receive the critical and mainstream success they so richly deserve. Now the band are back, armed with a new album and new vocalist. Their swagger is still there – only magnified – and their love of good, old fashioned rock seeps through every strand of new album Shockwave's DNA leading up to a September 16 release.HEAVY caught up with new vocalist Steve Welsh to go through the album and more."One of the primary things we were thinking about - as I'm sure many bands do - is the boys have had a lot of live experience,” Welsh started, “and one of the biggest things we wanted to bring were songs that would work well live, but we also wanted to experiment with some new sounds as well. Obviously with myself coming on board I have some different musical influences, so the album is a combination of live bangers - or at least in our eyes live bangers - and some new sounds that could help shape the future of the music with the band."When pushed on what those new sounds are Welsh dutifully obliged."In terms of influences I've got a lot of 80s and 90s influences,” he explained. “A lot of 80s Judas Priest and a lot of 90s grunge with Soundgarden and Alice In Chains, things like that, that I personally use to help me write music. It was a joint effort between all of us to bring that to life. I suppose influence wise there's a bit more of that era that has been brought into this album."In the full interview, Steve talks more about Shockwave, the singles released and how they relate to the album, settling in to the role of frontman, their recent show supporting KISS, how Shockwave differs from previous album Never Say Die, future plans and more.Intro track HELLZ ABYSS 'Salute'

Still buzzing after the universal success of 2018 album Never Say Die, Melbourne rock legends Dead City Ruins have spent the last five weeks on the Hot Way to Live Tour, showcasing new songs from their next album to be released later this year.Despite an enduring 11 year career that has seen the band ply their trade the world over with hard-rocking tunes, Dead City Ruins have yet to fully realise their undoubted potential, a fact which lead guitarist Tommy TBone hopes will change with the release of new material."Yeah man, the new music is all us", he enthused when asked if the new album will be along the same lines musically as Never Say Die. "It's still heavy rock and roll with massive riffs and as everyone knows we've got Steve Welsh as frontman now and he's an absolute whale of a singer so it's definitely gonna bring a new dynamic. It's gonna be an absolute ripper, we're really excited.".Tommy admits that Dead City Ruins are the type of band who not only pore over their back catalogue for their live shows but also are not ashamed to revisit old songs when writing songs for new releases."We still go over the old albums and pick and choose songs which we see fit for a live audience", he nodded, "especially what people have been getting into the most over the years and we definitely go over them and rehearse the shit out of them but we're always wanting to improve on that side of the fence; just get those songs and make them better live with more crowd participation. We never stop. If there's room for improvement we go over it and do it again".In the full interview Tommy talks about the Hot Way To Live Tour and how it went, musicians contribution to the recent fire disasters and what Dead City Ruins are doing to help, the new songs they played on the road and what they are called, more on the next album and when it will be released, how they gauge their improvement as a band, their high energy live performances and how they maintain them, how their approach to music has changed over the course of their career, changing and adapting with the different cycles of the music industry, what 2020 holds and more.

Welcome back to the We Only Do One Take Podcast. It is season 2! Holy crap how the hell did we get to season 2? On this very special start to the season, two guests that we have been wanting to get onto the show for ages; professional Australian cosplayers Cienan and Heidi! Turch is back with a new rant. As he has returned from his cruise with his family, he is full of vigour and amazingly, he does not rant about family holidays. Instead he rants about entitled people who complain about petty things. Turch also tells stories of his family, but not really his family, but they still call him family. Quote of the trip, ‘I slepta likea piecea log’ Kieran brings up robot sex dolls again, of course. Apparently, a Spanish man is using a sex dolls to improve his marrage. Turch, Cienan and Heidi all fight for sex robot’s rights for half of the man’s stuff in divorce proceedings. Turch and Kieran freak out their guests by talking about their million dollar idea of a sex doll brothel. Intern Turch has even stated he would just hose down the sex dolls. Kieran talks about our sponsor, and Heidi discovers that you shouldn’t give pregnant ladies alcohol. With Cienan and Heidi on the show, the boys dive right into the world of cosplay. The cosplay power duo tell the boys story about how they got into cosplay, how coslaply started and how it has developed in Australia over the last 10 years. They show off all of their cool costumes; how they get their inspiration, how they go about making their costumes and the immense time and cost of the hobby. It is insane! We even get to talk to them about how they got their costumes in the Melbourne Museum. You must check out the photos and Heidi’s $8,500 dress. Yes you read that right. Turch quizzes them on their comic book knowledge, and we finally have the hard answers to some of the hardest comic book battles. Cienan and Heidi also share the Rat-in-the-Hat has a dark past. What a scoop! Turch tells the story of a woman who was lucky enough to have a bag of cocaine fly into her handbag while she was driving. Sadly she was arrested. Kieran reviews Ready Player One, but gets caught up talking about Ready Steady Cook. He finally gets back to talking about the film, but focuses on the fact he was hungry. The show concludes with Heidi and Cienan’s plan for the future. And we even get ANOGTHER SCOOP! You heard it here first! We also give a shout to Dead City Ruins for their album Never Say Die which is going to be released on the 13th April 2018! And congratulate the Watsonia Bugle on their Shark Week, and what a shark week it was! Make sure you get on these guys on social media and like their pages! They compete all the time, so the more support they get, the closer they will get to be in the internal championships.
