S6E19 went out live on Rebel Rock Radio at 7 pm on 11 May 2023.  The show kicked off with Herman Frank and we settled into a hour of uptempo, driving rock and roll from the likes of Quiet Riot, Seether, Buckcherry and Rival Sons.  These last two bands mentioned had new tracks released so we took a listen to get a feel for the forthcoming albums.  Later in the show we continued with the goal of bringing you new SA artist releases.  This week we had a short interview with Liaan Horten of The Color Blew and we took a listen to their brand new track ‘Love In Space which was released about 10 hours' later on Friday 12 May,   The Ultimate Challenge for this episode looked at 4 albums from 1978 and what a year it was.  Van Halen – Van Halen, Judas Priest -  Stained Class, ACDC – Power Age, and Rainbow – Long Live Rock and Roll.  It went to the wire between ACDC and Van Halen but in the end, sanity prevailed and Van Halen took its rightful place as the greatest album of 1978 and probably the decade.    This week's Immortals track was Metallica's ‘The Day That Never Comes' off the Death Magnetic album.  For the rest of the show, we fitted in US Punk (Anti-Flag), UK Punk (The Clash), and SA Rock (Cutting Jade, Van Coke Kartel, and Future Radio).  Things are tough in South Africa right now, we are up to 10 to 12 hours a day without power, so we used Foo Fighters to give us a bit of a boost with 'Times Like These'.  Hope you enjoy the episode, cheers until next time.  Artists featured:  Herman Frank, Drowning Pool, Quiet Riot, KilliT, Cutting Jade, Shinedown, Seether, Reef, Buckcherry, Rival Sons, Satellite Party & Perry Farrell, Extreme, Bush, The Cult, Bad Company, Doomsday Outlaw, Anti-Flag, Future Radio, Foo Fighters, Van Coke Cartel, The Color Blew, The Clash, Stone Sour, Machine Head, Metallica, Rainbow, ACDC, Judas Priest, Van Halen, The Rolling Stones, Texas Hippie Coalition, Girish & The Chronicles, Sepultura, Savage, David Bowie, Parkway DriveThe Story of Rock and Roll. Finally, we reached the end of Season 5.  The final show, episode 52 went out live at 19h00 on 29 Dec 2022 on rebel Rock Radio.  At the risk of boring you all I just have to say that once again it all happened under really trying circumstances.  I hope you all appreciate the lengths I have to go through to get this show out.  The Wi-Fi has been non-existent all day, I can't even upload the MCR Rock Review.  We have more load shedding in an hour's time and I can't get onto the Rebel Rock Site so I am flying blind.  That said this show is a wrap-up of all the albums we checked out this year.  Well, not all the albums because we checked out 65 new releases this year.  Out of 157 albums added this year 65 were 2022 releases.  I did my best to play you as much as possible from these 65.  We kicked off with Halestorm and the title track of their release Back From The Dead.  From there we had Motor Sister and a track called 'Can't Get Enough'.  From there we listened to ‘Take What You Want' off Diamond Star Halos, the latest offering from Def Leppard.  We went to Germany and took a listen to Rammstein and to Sinner.  Desolation Angels out of the UK (with South African bassist Clive Pearson who used to be in a SA Metal band called Lynx back in the ‘80s) gave us a track called 'Walking On Water' off Burning Black.  We also heard from Tony Martin ex Black Sabbath and Joe Lynn Turner ex Rainbow.  Both these guys both put out strong albums in the form of Thorns and Belly of the Beast respectively.   Five Finger Death Punch and Disturbed both made the cut and sounded awesome.  It was time for a bit of Metal from Soulfly and a track called 'Ancestors'.  We also heard 'Black Butterfly' from Candlemass.  After checking out some late ‘80's early ‘90s style rock from the Dead Daisies, Skid Row, and Aussie youngsters Dead City Ruins we hit the blues with our very own Dan Patlansky whose Shelter of Bones was given the No 2 spot by Blues Rock Magazine.  The South African scene was also represented by L.A. Cobra, The Devil's Party Band, Infanteria, and Diverted Disorder.    Finally, we got to the top of the list and played out with Ozzy Osbourne, Parkway Drive, The Halo Effect, and Megadeth, and the best album of 2022 according to me went to Arch Enemy with Deceivers.  We had a few minutes left so we checked out with scenes from forthcoming attraction in 2023 in the form of Blink 182 and the single they dropped months ago called ‘Edging'.  I hope to see you all for 2023 and Season 6 of The Story of Rock and Roll. PS.  Notable mentions we just didn't get to Keator, Slipknot, Soilwork, Ghost, and Machine Head, what a year for music.   Artists featured:  Halestorm, Herman Frank, Motor Sister, Def Leppard, Sinner, Rammstein, Joe Lynn Turner, Nickelback, Desolation Angels, Disturbed, Five Finger Death Punch, Eddie Vedder, Billy Idol, Alter Bridge, Tony Martin, Candlemass, Soulfly, The Dead Daisies, Skid Row, Dead City Ruins, Dan Patlansky, L.A. Episode 45 of Season 5 went out live on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00 on 10 Nov 2022.  The show kicked off with ACDC and a track off Let There Be Rock called ‘Overdose'.  From there we continued with Black Stone Cherry, Def Leppard, and White Zombie.  We went into the ‘00s and cranked the Nu Metal with Drowning Pool and the title track off the Sinner album, the one that gave the world 'Bodies' and 'Broken Home' off Papa Roach's Infest album.  Strangely enough, we went from that into some mellow blues, courtesy of Popa Chubby and ZZ Top with Trouble and Blue Jean Blues respectively.  It was the Papa to Popa connection that did it. From the Blues, we checked out Iron Maiden and another track off Power Slave called ‘Back In the Village'.  Herman Frank, ex of Accept got a look-in with a track off his latest album Two For a Lie.  We stayed in Germany for some Rammstein and a bit later 'Blackout' from Scorpions, another song written about Eskom.  A highlight of the show was the back-to-back pairing of Tony Martin and Joe Lynn Turner, two vocalists who have played in the best bands in the world and have both released solo alums in the last 12 months.  Joe Lynn Turner has Peter Tägtgren producing and doing the guitar work and it is one hell of a combination.  We had some more Nu Metal courtesy of Limp Bizkit and then used Courtney Love's band Hole,  with a track called 'Rock Star' to lead us into a quick farewell and RIP to Nazareth's Dan McCafferty who passed away this week.  As explained on the show Nazareth are a very special band to those of us growing up in the '70s and '80s and we thanked Dan for writing and performing some awesome classic songs.   We took in 'When Your Love is Gone' by Assie legend Jimmy Barnes and then spent nearly nine minutes on the Thin Lizzy classic ‘Still In Love With You'.  It came off the Live album called Life and features all the Thin Lizzy guitarists Eric Bell, Scott Gorham, Brian Robertson, Gary Moore, Snowy White, and John Sykes.  Texas Hippie Coalition moved the show out of the ballads and Night Ranger and Queensrÿche continued the excellent medicine and took it to the next level.  The new Queensrÿche, Digital Noise Alliance' is fantastic, check it out.  This show just had too much material and not enough time.  We tipped the hat to Judas Priest for their well-deserved and long overdue inclusion into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, we listened to another awesome Vivian Campbell solo and heard how powerful Andrew Freeman is on a track called ‘Year of The Gun' and we squeezed in an amazingly emotional track from My Chemical Romance called 'The World is Ugly'.  The consensus on the chat was that MCR are correct on this point.  Cheers all, see you next week, I hope you enjoy the episode.     Artists featured:  ACDC, Black Stone Cherry, Def Leppard, White Zombie, Drowning Pool, Papa Roach, Popa Chubby, ZZ Top, Iron Maiden, Herman Frank, Rammstein, Anthrax, Dead City Ruins, Burning Rain, Skid Row, Five Finger Death Punch, Scorpions, Tony Martin, Joe Lynn Turner, Leslie West Tribute, Limp Bizkit, Hole, Nazareth, The Gaslight Anthem, Jimmy Barnes, Thin Lizzy, Texas Hippie Coalition, Night Ranger, Queensrÿche, Halestorm, Judas Priest, Last In Line, Green Day, My Chemical Romance, Johnny Cash, In Flames     The Story of Rock and Roll. Episode 44 of season 5 aired on 3 November 2022 at 7 pm sharp on Rebel Rock Radio.  It was a cracker of an episode with plenty of new albums and plenty of rock from around the world.  First out the blocks we had The Beatles' classic ‘Day Tripper' off a tribute to The Beatles album called Butchering the Beatles.  This track featured Jack Blades, Tommy Shaw, and Doug Aldrich and it's a guitar fest of note.  From there we heard from Guns ‘n' Roses with a live version of ‘Pretty Tied Up' followed by a band called Paradox and a track of their excellent album Pangea called 'Cheat and Pretend'.   We mixed in the legends with the newer artists by taking a track off Ozzy Osbourne's new album Patient Number 9 and following Oz with Dead City Ruins and a track called “Drifter'.  We heard a track off Herman Franks' 2021 release Two For a Lie.  Texas Hippie Coalition went down well as did another track off the Phil X and the Drills EP called Stupid Good Looking, Vol 1.  There was a lot from Germany on the show, totally unplanned but along with Paradox we had Scorpions, Iron Allies, Herman Frank, on his own and in Iron Allies, and also Rammstein with their strange tune known as B*********.  The SA music came from Jasper Dan, Ross Harding, and L.A. Episode 35 aired on 1 Sept 2022, on Rebel Rock Radio at 19h00.  For once there were no technical problems on startup, everything connected and everything worked.  First up we had Krokus with their classic track Long Stick Goes Boom, off 1982's One Vice at a Time.  Next up Biters with a track called ‘1975' and then a quick track from Herman Frank before we shifted direction with some Faith No More.  From there we checked out ‘Baptised in Muddy Water from Ayron Jones and a track off the Ronnie James Dio Tribute tiled This is Your Life.    We spend a bit of time in the ‘Qs', not home affairs, the letter 'Q', with Q5 and Queensrÿche and 'Steel The Light' and ‘Jet City Woman respectively.  Seether made a welcome return with ‘Fake It' and Flatfoot 56 made their debut on TSORR.  The show moved into party mode with Rob Zombie and Living Dead Girl' (who you can meet behind the counter at any Municipal Traffic Department near you).  Buckcherry and ‘Let's Party' off All Night Long, kept the throttle open.  We did the usual mix, slammed in some metal with Machine Head, ‘No Gods, No Masters' and Killswitch Engage then into the UK punky stuff, The Boomtown Rats, The Jam, and Stiff Little Fingers.  The new stuff came from Five Finger Death Punch, The Halo effect, Slipknot, and Soulfly.   We checked out Cape Town-based Infanteria who featured a few months ago with a nearly 8 min masterpiece called 'Swansong' off their 2022 release Patriarch.  Then another brand new album from UK-based NWOBHM stalwarts Desolation Angels who have South African metal merchant Clive Pearson with them on bass.  We didn't manage to play the new Parkway Drive because there just isn't enough time, that tells you something about the amount of good new metal being released at the moment, "didn't have time for Parkway Drive", jesus.     We hit the local stuff with Jasper Dan and Black Bone Nation and then moved to a special level with ‘Warm Machine' from Bush, you had to be there moving through the night at 3 am in Black Adder II to understand the power of that track.  Good times, really good times.  Anyway, the show had to die so we ended off with US punk from Green Day and then 'Helena' the classic track from MCR.   We went out heavy with The Halo Effect featuring Jesper  Strömblad ex In-Flames, Slipknot's new track 'The Chapeltown Rag', and Soulfly with 'Ancestors'.  Check it out, and spread the TSORR podcast far and wide please.   Artists featured:  Krokus, Biters, Herman Frank, Faith No More, Ayron Jones, Brian Tichy + Oni Logan + Rowan Robertson +  Jimmy Bain, Q5, Queensrÿche, Seether, Flatfoot 56, Rob Zombie, Rob Zombie, Buckcherry, Nashville Pussy, Michael Monroe, Machine Head, Killswitch Engage, Thin Lizzy, Billy Idol, The Boomtown rats, The Jam, Stiff Little Fingers, The Fismits, Megadeth, Five Finger Death Punch, Infanteria, Desolation Angels, Texas Hippie Coalition, Pantera, The L.A. Episode 33 of season 5 aired finally at 19h18 on Rebel Rock Radio.  Same as last week I could not connect to the server but this time I found some gremlins in the system and was able to sort it out.  We kicked off with Guns ‘n' Roses, with Accept and Herman Frank in hot pursuit.  Both those tracks featured Herman because back in 1984 when Restless and Wild was released he was on guitar with Wolf Hoffman.  Pearl Jam and Soundgarden signaled the end of the metal for the next 10 minutes.  From there we went all over the place, leaving the grunge in Seattle we moved to Ireland for The Boomtown Rats, London for Joe Jackson, then down under for some ACDC and a track called 'Giving the Dog a Bone' off Back in Black.  Mutt Lange produced both the ACDC and the Boomtown Rats' The Fine Art of Surfacing.     We had new stuff from Hell Fire and a track called 'Tortuga Nights' off the new album called Reckoning.  Also new was a track called 'Yen' off the new Slipknot, which is being released one track at a time in the same way as Arch Enemy and Megadeth were.  Speaking of both of those we checked them out as well.  It was cool to toast the late great Taylor Hawkins and check out a track called ‘Rudy' off his EP Kota.  It's got so many hooks it reminds me of Rabbitt.  We went mellow with Dire Straits and a track called 'Lions' off the Live at the BBC album and then we went heavy again with a track called ‘Exiled From Earth' off the finally released album called 'Deceivers'.  Arch Enemy is my current favorite metal band, Michael Amott and Alissa White-Gluz are killing it.   By the end of the show, we had gone from Del Amitri to Parkway Drive and Nickelback to Soulfly.  The UK Punk slot was great, and The Stranglers with Duchess really hit the spot.  The Rodneys were lining up, god forbid.  It was also great to hear Stiff Little Fingers with 'Nobody's' Hero and Simon McBride who is now in Deep Purple in place of Steve Morse made his TSORR debut with a rack called 'High Stakes'.  We finished up with Rage Against the Machines cover of Devo's track ‘Beautiful World, Zack De La Roche literally oozes resentment at the end, don't be like Zack kids.   All in all, it was a pretty mixed-up affair, in a good way.   Artists featured:  Guns ‘n' Roses, Accept, Herman Frank, Newsted, Hell Fire, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, The Boomtown Rats, Joe Jackson, ACDC, Santana, Dave Hause, John Mellencamp, Rush, All them Witches, Megadeth, Slipknot, Taylor Hawkins, Dirty Honey, Simon McBride, Dire Straits, Arch Enemy, Bring Me The Horizon, Nickelback, Hinder, The Stranglers, Stiff Little Fingers, The Clash, Mr Big, The Answer, We Are Harlot, Sixx A.M., Del Amitri, Parkway Drive, Soulfly, Rage Against The Machine

Episode 35 of Season 4 went out live at 7 pm on 2 September 2021.  The show featured a number of albums released in 2021 including one by a guy called Ayron Jones.  I am quite blown away by this album titled Child of the State.  He has a voice that reminds me of Prince in places, with shades of Terrence Trent D'Arby and Gary Clarke Jr.  He also plays a mean guitar, his track 'My Love Remains' should raise some goosebumps.  Mason Hill's album Against the Wall  is another new one I am enjoying. We took a listen to 'Broken Son'.    I am also going through a Samantha Fish phase so we heard from her and rounded out the blues with some Jonny Lang.  The heavy lifting was handled by Onslaught, Bullet For My Vallentine and, Sunken State.  The latest Rob Zombie was pretty cool and so was a track off Serj Tankian's latest EP called Elasticity, we took a listen to a track called 'Your Mom' which is proudly flying the System of a Down flag.  I had a little rant about the state of the government and the local municipality, as we have been without water for 24 hours, it felt appropriate to take a track off Give 'Em Enough Rope' by The Clash and 'Fire & Gasoline' by Steve Jones.  The music and lyrics punctuated a number of disparaging remarks about the state of things in general.  They were unplanned but heartfelt.The South African stuff came from Valiant Swart, The Burning, The Uninvited, and Sunken Stae as well as newcomers Imagine&Nation who have released an excellent EP titled  Never Be Quiet which could be a mantra for TSORR.     Artists featured:  Herman Frank, Monster Truck, Seasick Steve, Rob Zombie, Marilyn Manson, The Sweet, Mötley Crüe, Steelheart, Vain, Onslaught, Q5, Queensrÿche, Running Wild, Wolfmother, Grandfunk Railroad, Ayron Jones, Mick Jagger, Serj Tankian, Mason Hill, Samatha Fish, Jonny Lang, Imagine&Nation, Valiant Swart, The Burning, Bullet For My Vallentine, Massive Wagons, Mammoth WVH, Rose Tattoo, The Clash, Steve Jones, Accept, Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Motörhead, Windowpane, Mr Big, The Uninvited, Sunken State.   

After an amazingly fruitful two-month period in which Night Demon wrote and recorded all four songs for their debut EP, it was time to entertain offers for gigs.  You will hear how Night Demon were offered and turned down the opportunity to open for Accept and Sabaton in May 2011, and how Armand and Dusty's band New Liberty took the slot in their stead.  The irony is twofold, in that Armand and Dusty went on to join Night Demon, and Night Demon went on to open for Accept on an extended European run in early 2018.  In the meantime, Jarvis's main band at the time, Jeff Hershey and the Heartbeats, was primed and ready to release a full-length record that had been years in the making.  But Jarvis was drawn to Night Demon and the effortless magic of his collaboration with Brent and Pat.  Eventually, the door opened for Night Demon to make its live debut opening for a Thin Lizzy tribute band featuring Armand on lead guitar at the Bombay Bar and Grill in Ventura in May 2011. Become a subscriber today at nighdemon.net/subscriber. Jugaron un papel importante en el desarrollo del speed metal en los años 80. Tras su separación en 1997 y una breve resurrección en 2005, la banda se unió en 2009 con el ex vocalista del grupo TT Quick, Mark Tornillo, sustituyendo a Udo Dirkschneider.Los inicios de la banda comenzaron en 1968 cuando el vocalista Udo Dirkschneider junto al guitarrista Michael Wagener, Dieter Rubach en el bajo y Birke Hoe en la batería fundaron Band X en Solingen, en la aquel entonces Alemania Occidental. Durante sus primeros años sufrieron un constante cambio de músicos, cuya inestabilidad en su alineación no les permitió iniciar una carrera profesional y que finalmente provocó su separación. En 1976, Dirkschneider y Rubach se enfocaron en crear su primera banda profesional y para ello se reunieron con los guitarristas Wolf Hoffmann y Gerhard Wahl, y al baterista Frank Friedrich y fundaron la primera alienación de Accept. En ese mismo año tocaron en el festival Rock am Rhein donde fueron bien recibidos, a tal punto que llamaron la atención del sello Brain Records, quienes les ofrecieron su primer contrato discográfico. En 1978 y antes de iniciar las grabaciones de su álbum debut, Wahl y Rubach anunciaron su retiro de la banda y además de la escena musical, siendo sustituidos por Jörg Fischer y Peter Baltes respectivamente. A fines de ese año se trasladaron a Wilster donde grabaron su primer disco Accept, que se puso a la venta en enero de 1979 y que recibió críticas especialmente negativas de parte de la prensa especializada. Antes de la publicación de su álbum debut el baterista Frank Friedrich renunció a la banda, siendo reemplazado por Stefan Kaufmann para las siguientes producciones. En 1980 pusieron a la venta I'm a Rebel, cuya canción del mismo nombre había sido escrita y grabada por AC/DC en 1976, pero nunca fue publicada. A pesar que recibió críticas similares a su anterior disco, fue el primero en ser lanzado internacionalmente tanto en los Estados Unidos como en los principales países de Europa. Con la publicación de Breaker en 1981, dieron inicio a una nueva etapa en su carrera y para ello, decidieron dejar de lado las opiniones de los demás y enfocarse en lo que ellos querían hacer, que finalmente les significó recibir mejores reseñas de parte de la crítica a diferencia de sus anteriores discos. Tras su lanzamiento firmaron un importante contrato con la mánager alemana Gaby Hauke, cuya primera labor fue conseguirles un acuerdo como banda de soporte de la gira World Wide Blitz Tour de Judas Priest, que desde el 6 de noviembre de 1981 hasta el 14 de diciembre les permitió tocar en ocho países europeos. Luego de la gira promocional Jörg renunció a la agrupación y para sustituirlo contrataron a Jan Koemmet, pero su paso por Accept fue demasiado corto ya que antes de iniciar las grabaciones de su nuevo disco fue despedido. A principios de 1982 se trasladaron a Colonia para registrar su cuarto álbum Restless and Wild, que por primera vez ingresó en las listas musicales de algunos países europeos como en el Reino Unido, donde logró la posición 98 en los UK Albums Chart.4 Dentro de su listado de canciones destacó el sencillo «Fast as a Shark», que para algunos críticos es considerado como uno de los principales temas del speed metal y un claro ejemplo del proto thrash metal.En 1983 firmaron con RCA Records y comenzaron a grabar el álbum Balls to the Wall, el primero con el guitarrista Herman Frank. Su quinta producción siguió las mismas líricas oscuras y agresivas que en sus dos anteriores discos, sin embargo generó algunas controversias en algunos mercados por el significado de ciertas canciones y su portada. No obstante, marcó un antes y un después en su carrera ya que les abrió las puertas de otros países fuera de Europa como en los Estados Unidos y Canadá, donde logró posicionarse en los top 100 de las listas musicales respectivas. Durante su gira promocional en 1983 la banda se reencontró con Jörg, que con la insistencia de Hauke, pasó a formar parte de Accept una vez más. Al año siguiente dieron una serie de conciertos por varios países europeos y se presentaron por primera vez en Norteamérica, en primera instancia como artista invitado de Kiss y luego de Saxon, e incluso en ciertas ciudades se presentaron como artista principal. Al final de la gira fueron invitados por Iron Maiden para abrir su conciertos en Italia, España y Francia, y fueron parte del festival Monsters of Rock tanto en Inglaterra como en Alemania. Dos años más tarde y enfocados en el mercado estadounidense decidieron que Dieter Dierks fuera el productor de su siguiente disco, debido al éxito que tenía en ese país junto a sus compatriotas Scorpions. En marzo de 1985 finalmente se puso a la venta Metal Heart, que a las pocas semanas se convirtió en su álbum más exitoso hasta ese entonces ya que logró ubicarse en los top 10 de algunas listas musicales de países como Suecia y Noruega. Para promocionarlo se embarcaron en una extensa gira por Europa y luego por Norteamérica, donde contaron con Krokus y Rough Cutt como artistas invitados, mientras que en la parte final por los Estados Unidos fueron invitados por Iron Maiden para abrir sus conciertos. En dicha gira llamada simplemente Metal Heart Tour, además tocaron por primera vez en tres ciudades de Japón, entre ellas Nagoya, que fue escogida para grabar su primera producción en vivo llamada Kaizoku-Ban y que se publicó a fines de 1985. Desde mediados de 1984 comenzaron a tener sus primeras discusiones sobre el enfoque real de la banda. Por un lado, Wolffmann, Baltes y Hauke estaban interesados en los Estados Unidos donde cada vez pasaban más tiempo conociendo su estilo de vida y sus ciudades. Mientras que Dirkschneider, Kaufmann y Fischer se mantuvieron en Alemania alejados de influencia musical estadounidense. Este distanciamiento entre sus integrantes provocó algunas diferencias personales como musicales, aunque de manera cordial decidieron seguir trabajando como banda. A finales de 1985 se reunieron en los Dierks Studios para grabar su séptimo álbum de estudio, Russian Roulette, con el cual retornaron al sonido más oscuro y pesado de sus discos Breaker y Restless and Wild. Tras culminar la gira promocional de Russian Roulette, en la que contaron con los estadounidenses Dokken como banda invitada por sus conciertos por Europa, anunciaron a fines de 1986 un receso indefinido de sus actividades. En ese lapso de tiempo Udo Dirkschneider decidió iniciar su carrera en solitario, que con el apoyo del resto de la banda escribió las canciones de su álbum debut Animal House, publicado en 1987 bajo el nombre de U.D.OParalelo a su trabajo con el primer disco de U.D.O. el resto de la banda inició las audiciones para conseguir un nuevo vocalista. Entre los que se presentaron destacó el estadounidense Michael White y el británico Rob Armitage de la banda Baby Tuckoo. No obstante, decidieron contratar al estadounidense David Reece, con quien se trasladaron a Alemania para grabar un nuevo álbum de estudio. Antes de iniciar el proceso de grabación, Jörg Fischer renunció nuevamente a la agrupación, siendo reemplazado por Jim Stacey a fines de 1988. Finalmente en mayo de 1989 se puso a la venta Eat the Heat, que estaba orientado al público estadounidense con canciones ligadas al hard rock y glam metal, cuyo cambio de sonido generó una serie de críticas y una escasa atención en las listas musicales. Cuando estaban de gira por Norteamérica, Stefan Kaufmann tuvo serios problemas a su espalda que lo obligó a renunciar a la banda para buscar un tratamiento médico. En su reemplazo y solo para las fechas restantes se contrató a Ken Mary, conocido durante ese tiempo por ser baterista de Alice Cooper y House of Lords. Tras la salida de Kaufmann, la poca venta de entrada de sus conciertos y la mala relación de Reece con Wolfmann, conllevó a que tomaran la decisión de separar la banda de manera indefinida a finales de 1989.En 1990, los sellos RCA para Europa y Epic para los Estados Unidos publicaron el doble álbum en vivo Staying a Life, que logró buenas críticas y que se consideró como un punto clave para la posterior reunión de la banda. Dos años después, Wolf tomó la iniciativa y se trasladó a Alemania para conversar con Udo y Stefan, que junto con Peter, acordaron reunir la clásica formación después de un poco más de tres años de inactividad.1 A los pocos meses después comenzaron a grabar Objection Overruled, que se puso a la venta a principios de 1993 y que logró una buena recepción en Europa, pero no así en los Estados Unidos, cuyo mercado estaba dominado por los sonidos alternativos. En 1994 cuando estaban grabando su siguiente disco Death Row, los problemas de salud de Stefan Kaufmann le impidieron tocar bien la batería en algunas canciones. Para sustituirlo y por un breve tiempo, se unió el alemán Stefan Schwarzmann, que a su vez, ingresó al equipo de producción del álbum. Su décima producción de estudio fue considerado como uno de los más agresivos y pesados de su historia, pero fue criticado por la ausencia de su sonido clásico. Dos años después y con la ayuda del baterista Michael Cartellone de Damn Yankees, grabaron Predator, que se convirtió en el último álbum de estudio de la banda luego que en 1997 decidieran separarse. Su gira promocional coincidió con los primeros veinte años de carrera y fue seleccionada para despedirse de los escenarios con fechas por Norteamérica, Sudamérica, Europa y Asia, cuyo último concierto se celebró en Tokio, Japón, el 15 de junio de 1996.En 1997, los miembros de la banda decidieron separarse de manera definitiva y cada uno de ellos se enfocó en sus respectivos proyectos personales. En ese mismo año el sello GUN Records publicó el doble álbum en vivo All Areas - Worldwide, que contó con canciones grabadas durante las giras de Objection Overruled y Death Row. A pesar de la inactividad de la agrupación, diversos sellos discográficos publicaron algunos recopilatorios como Classics, Rock 'n' Ballads: Hot & Slow en 2000 y los EP Breakers on Stage en 1998 y Rich & Famous en 2002, que mantuvieron, de cierta manera, a la banda vigente en los mercados mundiales. A finales de 2004, varios promotores europeos invitaron a la banda a realizar una gira de reunión por los principales festivales del continente, entre ellos el Sweden Rock Festival de Suecia, Gods of Metal de Italia, Graspop Metal Meeting de Bélgica y el Wacken Open Air de Alemania. Luego de algunos meses de preparación, Hoffmann, Dirkschneider, Baltes, Frank y Schwarzmann dieron su primer concierto de reunión el 25 de abril de 2005 en San Petersburgo, Rusia. Después de veintidós fechas, entre ellas cuatro por Japón, su último concierto se celebró el 27 de agosto del mismo año en Kavarna, Bulgaria.15 Casi dos años después, en mayo de 2007, se rumoreó una nueva reunión que incluiría además la grabación de un disco de estudio, pero Dirkschneider en una entrevista descartó la idea afirmando: «Entiendo que la gente quiere un nuevo álbum de Accept, pero componer canciones juntos sería un desastre. De esa manera destruiríamos en vez de crear algo. A fines de ese año se trasladaron a Wilster donde grabaron su primer disco Accept, que se puso a la venta en enero de 1979 y que recibió críticas especialmente negativas de parte de la prensa especializada. Su gira promocional coincidió con los primeros veinte años de carrera y fue seleccionada para despedirse de los escenarios con fechas por Norteamérica, Sudamérica, Europa y Asia, cuyo último concierto se celebró en Tokio, Japón, el 15 de junio de 1996.En 1997, los miembros de la banda decidieron separarse de manera definitiva y cada uno de ellos se enfocó en sus respectivos proyectos personales. En ese mismo año el sello GUN Records publicó el doble álbum en vivo All Areas - Worldwide, que contó con canciones grabadas durante las giras de Objection Overruled y Death Row. A pesar de la inactividad de la agrupación, diversos sellos discográficos publicaron algunos recopilatorios como Classics, Rock 'n' Ballads: Hot & Slow en 2000 y los EP Breakers on Stage en 1998 y Rich & Famous en 2002, que mantuvieron, de cierta manera, a la banda vigente en los mercados mundiales.14 A finales de 2004, varios promotores europeos invitaron a la banda a realizar una gira de reunión por los principales festivales del continente, entre ellos el Sweden Rock Festival de Suecia, Gods of Metal de Italia, Graspop Metal Meeting de Bélgica y el Wacken Open Air de Alemania. Luego de algunos meses de preparación, Hoffmann, Dirkschneider, Baltes, Frank y Schwarzmann dieron su primer concierto de reunión el 25 de abril de 2005 en San Petersburgo, Rusia. Después de veintidós fechas, entre ellas cuatro por Japón, su último concierto se celebró el 27 de agosto del mismo año en Kavarna, Bulgaria.15 Casi dos años después, en mayo de 2007, se rumoreó una nueva reunión que incluiría además la grabación de un disco de estudio, pero Dirkschneider en una entrevista descartó la idea afirmando: «Entiendo que la gente quiere un nuevo álbum de Accept, pero componer canciones juntos sería un desastre. De esa manera destruiríamos en vez de crear algo. Tenemos una buena relación y es mejor mantenerlo así».

Season 2 Episode 15 of The Story of Rock and Roll was recorded on Friday 25 July 2020 and then re-recorded on Saturday 26 July.  Since the demise of the Rockfest shows on Mix FM, TSORR has been recorded from Planet Rock my bar in the dark lands of Benoni.  Its challenging but incredibly liberating, to be honest, and it feels like I can finally give you the show the way its meant to be.  The reason for the re-record was the voice parts which distorted badly and all had to be scrapped and redone.  It's all about getting the levels right but each recording gets better.  This one is definitely special and it's got stuff that would have got me fired on a radio station which means that its a true depiction of what rock and roll is about :-).  The show started with 'The Mermaid' by Dave Hause and then punched into high gear with System of a Down.  We hit the big bands you'd expect ACDC, Metallica, Ozzy but we also spent some time on South African music by Koos Kombis, Piet Botha and Johnathan Martin who has put together the SA rock album of the year in the form of his new release Into the Nebulous Night.Highlights of the show for me were hearing The Stranglers 'Bring on the Nubiles' and The Sex Pistols with 'Bodies' back to back to remind us just what UK Punk was all about.  Here's to 1977.  Another highlight for me was giving Biff Byfords 7 min long epic Throw Down the Sword a spin.  If you have any comments of constructive feedback let me know on the TSORR FaceBook page, cheers until next week.  Artists featured include:  Megadeth, ACDC, Metallica, Foo Fighters, Dave Hause, Koos Kombuis, David Lee Roth, Little Steven, Herman Frank, Blue Oyster Cult, UFO, Cold Chisel, Tesla, The Stranglers, System of a Down, John Mellencamp, Piet Botha, Biff Byford, Tesla, Shinedown, Kid Rock, Thunder, Michael Monroe, Sepultura, Johnathan Martin, Judas Priest and Ozzy Osbourne.

Shortly after midnight on 14 February 2020 Season 2 Episode 7 aired from the Mix 93.8 FM studios deep in the heart of Midrand, South Africa.  As always it was great fun and, to put it in its historical context, we had the State of the Nation address and Valentine's Day as a backdrop.  There were a couple more technical glitches than normal but the show still hangs together OK, you may not even notice.  One track started again and then later two tracks stopped rather abruptly and I had to deal with that.  In the spirit of good rock radio, it's better to leave those bloopers in than to edit it, its way more natural and a lot more humorous. We kicked off a bit differently to the usual TSORR all-out metal detonation by starting with Josh Ritter and a track called ‘For The Dogs or Whoever'.   Next up Whiskey in the Morning and then a bit of Judas Priest and some Megadeth.  Because it was 14 Feb we took a listen to Bullet For My Valentine and roared through some serious 80's and 90's metal.  I mentioned that although we are only 2 months into the year the honours for Metal album of the year are probably already sorted in the form of Annihilators' new release Ballistic, Sadistic.  We took a listen to ‘Dressed Up For Evil',  I am not quite sure what dressed up for evil would even look like but it's a cracking good song, check out the instrumental bridge at around 1:56.  Our usual bit of TSORR Punk was covered by Anti-Flag, The Clash and Bad Religion and it was the Clash, who's already short 1 minute and 47-second song,  was rudely cut even shorter, apologies for that.   The new Midnight 7-Plus feature was filled this week by Great White and Rock Me, in fact, we had Rock You, Rock Me and You Wreck Me all in a row, try saying that fast 3 times.  Some more local content was supplied by The Burning, check out the podcast of the interview I did with them a couple of months back.  Herman Frank's contribution was definitely one of the highlights of the show as was Johnathan Martin's Liberty off his The Highway Infinity album .  Apologies to Dino Jelusic, he of the golden voice, for the tiny technical glitch and early ending on his new killer track with George Lynch of Dokken fame, I'll play some more off that Dirty Shirley album next week.  The show ended off with a very effective quest to see how much damage I could do in 5 minutes.  The vote from the Whatsapp line was a resounding yes!   Artists featured this week:   Motörhead, Bad Religion.
