Okay put down those margaritas for a moment, and read what was said at a great air cargo gathering last week in Cancun, Mexico. Look for the entire transcript of these comments in FlyingTypers at www.aircargones.com. Here is Kale Logistics Solutions self-generated initiative, branded Clear View Americas. Our view is that Clear View is fresh, while other industry events these days seem tired. First Session: Collaborative Growth in the Air Cargo Industry – The Vital Role of Partnerships and Airport Leadership. Speaker: Michael Webber, CEO Webber Air Cargo Inc. “In terms of total air cargo business HKG exceeded 4 M tons. MEM, PVG, & ANC exceeded 3 M. MIA holds 82% of the air cargo market share from U.S. to Latin America Cultivating Partnerships: Americas top four international gateways: MIA, LAX, ORD, JFK. While ATL ranks far up the line for passenger, ATL ranks far down the line in air cargo due to the reduced amount of cargo carriers that land/take off from ATL. Today in a world where information is king, a major challenge is lack of communication; airports must communicate with the full logistics supply chain – airlines, cargo handlers, regulators, forwarders/brokers, truckers, material vendors, etc. “The action must be a partnership to be successful," Mike Webber decalred.
Vobile Group Ltd (OTCQX:VOBIF, HKG:3738) CEO Yangbin Wang tells Stephen Gunnion how the Software as a Service (SaaS) company is embracing AI as it provides intellectual property (IP) protection and content monetization solutions for the media industry, including major studios, TV networks, and sports leagues. Since its inception in 2005, coinciding with the rise of YouTube and affordable streaming, Vobile has addressed the dual challenge of enabling content sharing while combating piracy. The company developed Video DNA fingerprinting technology, an early application of AI for content tracking rather than generation, and later introduced watermarking technology. This suite of tools aids content owners in managing and monetizing their digital media across the internet. Wang highlights the vast market potential for Vobile's services, emphasizing the central role of IP in generating value within the media and entertainment sectors. With a client base comprising Hollywood studios and major media companies, Vobile stands as the largest provider in its niche. The company's expansion into the Asian market post-IPO on the Hong Kong mainboard has balanced its revenue sources between Asia and its US home base, where it trades on the OTCQX to make its stock available to US investors. Wang envisions leveraging AI to enhance the value of creative content further, viewing technological advances as tools that democratize content creation and distribution, thus potentially expanding Vobile's market. #VobileGroup #IntellectualProperty #ContentMonetization #SaaS #MediaIndustry #VideoDNATechnology #AIinMedia #ContentProtection #DigitalMedia #CreativeContentValue #ProactiveInvestors #invest #investing #investment #investor #stockmarket #stocks #stock #stockmarketnews

What a terrible week Ukraine - All thoughts for everyone there, families abroad and anyone involved. Bravery and loyalty - some incredible media pictures. Topical session with Michael in light of the recent shipment of mobiles catching fire in HKG. Another warning sign – another investigation. How will it influence what must be done? A basket full of Why's? • Why do these things keep happening? • Why do we not get together and make some clear rules and expectations? • Why do we allow organisations to avoid regulation or license if involved in transportation of goods by Air / Sea/ Rail or road? • Why do governments not make a stand? • Why does the entire supply chain be allowed to avoid required best practice? • Why is the ‘green back' able to influence controls to such a degree? • Why do we not have smart data transparency to ‘assist' the system in reducing risk? • Why is there not more relevant and detailed training for all parties coming in contact or touching / deciding on how, when, and where to load or build a pallet/container? • Why do we not focus on Just Culture promotion more and more? • Why does C-Suite not take detailed notice in training and competence as well as control and accountability? • Why does the industry not just say NO and enough is enough? • Why is eComm and POST allowed to bypass normal restrictions and compliance guidelines? • Why is there so much Lithium Battery Debate, because if we don't act it could be too late! As always with Michael – a great exchange of opinion, ideas and consideration.

Link to bioRxiv paper: http://biorxiv.org/cgi/content/short/2020.07.23.217083v1?rss=1 Authors: Victor, M., Das, R., Ghosh, T. Abstract: SARS-CoV-2 has caused a global pandemic that has costed enormous human lives in the recent past. The present study is an investigation of the viral codon adaptation, ORF's stability and tRNA co-adaptation with humans. We observed that for the codon usage bias in viral ssRNA, ORFs have near values of folding free energies and codon adaptation index with mRNAs of the human housekeeping CDS. However, the correlation between the stability of the ORFs in ssRNA and CAI is stronger than the mRNA stability and CAI of HKG, suggesting a greater expression capacity of SARS-CoV-2. Mutational analysis reflects polymorphism in the virus for ORF1ab, surface glycoprotein and nucleocapsid phosphoprotein ORFs. Non-synonymous mutations have shown non-polar substitutions. Out of the twelve mutations nine are for a higher t-RNA copy number. Viruses in general have high mutation rates. To understand the chances of survival for the mutated SARS-CoV-2 we did simulation for synonymous mutations. It resulted in 50% ORFs with higher stability than their native equivalents. Thus, considering only the synonymous mutations the virus can exhibit a lot of polymorphism. Collectively our data provides new insights for SARS-CoV-2 mutations and the human t-RNA compatibility. HLJ is a great source, and I love their business, but they are not the prices you should be basing comments on for Chinese/HKG or European kits (Meng, Dragon, Trumpeter, Eduard etc.) These all attract a “protection tax” (or equivalent) in Japan, so are priced highly compared to other sources. For non-Japanese kits, I recommend the pricing from Hobbyeasy in Hong Kong (www.hobbyeasy.com) Their prices will be more reflective of “free market” prices. I have visited them several times in HKG and like HLJ they are an enthusiast run business, with sharp prices and reasonable shipping costs. A pricing example for the Meng WASP Jeep kit. HLJ are CAD$47.37, and Hobbyeasy HK$163 which converts to CAD$27.89, so it's a huge difference. I'm a pilot with Air NZ, so I get to visit model shops in lots of countries. Whilst Japan and Hong Kong are just streets ahead for the number and quality of shops, I've found Vancouver BC to be one of the best non-Asian countries for great model shops. Magic Box hobbies is a treasure and whilst prices are higher than in Asia, the selection is right up there. Cheers for now from a rainy Sydney Australia, and I'll check you guys out on FB. In 1969 three men launched what would become the worlds most global company. How did they do it? In this episode I chat with Jane Chung the Author of the recently published book, DHL Three Letters Thats Shrank The World. I listen to her incredible story about working for DHL in those early years, as well as the incredible journey she had over years of researching and doing interviews for the book, all across the world. DHL changed the way we live, without most people knowing it, this is a story that needed to be told, so more people can hear how entrepreneur the founders were, how dogmatic the early employees. A fascinating insight to how the worlds most global company became sustainable. Check out Janes page at https://www.facebook.com/DHL3Letters
Business Day TV — Jean Pierre Verster from Protea Capital Management chose Meituan Dianping as his stock pick of the day and Rowan Williams from Nitrogen Fund Managers chose Reinet Verster said: "An offshore share again, this time one listed in Hong Kong. It's called Meituan Dianping share code is (HKG: 3690) and it's basically the Uber Eats of China. They've got the biggest food delivery network in the world, most people in China order their food with this rather than making their own food. There's no space for a kitchen in most places that you live in flats in China. From the food business they've been diversified into ride-sharing and ride-hailing almost like the Uber of China. You can rent bikes and scooters through them, you can do all kinds of local services like book a hairdresser or get your groceries delivered to you or book some travel plans and it really has become a core app for most Chinese. It's dropped a bit in the last week because of the virus issues and as long as this isn't a pandemic that is going to have a permanent impact on the Chinese society, I think they should bounce back and this company is very well positioned is but one of the three biggest companies listed in China." Williams said: "I'm going for Reinet, the exciting thing with them is that Pens Corp, which is the insurance business in the UK is becoming up to 50% of the NAV. We have seen the smoking asset; British American Tobacco declining in value somewhat, they've sold more shares they investing a whole lot more into Pens Corp. We've seen significant growth there as they buy out pension obligations of large corporates and it looks like they're set for further growth so it looks quite interesting."
In this experience Vinny and Geoff go into the mailbag and review a bunch of different questions and feedback. We look at what is the logic and order of the meal and beverage service that takes place during a flight? We also look at free hotel stops – are they still provided by an airline? Why do some passengers get served first? how do the cabin crew decide to serve passengers? How does the airline decide how many crew members to have? Who's in charge of the cabin crew? Why is one cabin crew always in the galley? Vinny shares his experience of working as inflight crew on multiple airlines. How does the service flow and order work in first, business and economy classes? How does the length of flight change the timings and flow? What are all these different meals that are available for flights? The serving of your beverages, there are different methods that crew use. Which row does the crew start their service at? What happens when passengers have to get up? Why do special meals have to get served first? How does the crew have to adapt to buy on board options? Here comes the turbulence – how does the crew handle the baggage carts in bumpy conditions? Just how much beef or chicken meals are there? Is your flight being catered independently or from a centralized kitchen? Geoff shares an experience at ORD where the special meal didn't match up where he was flying to. And what about the crew – what are they eating? Geoff shares a story of a travel agent who got a bland surprise. Sitting at the back, might not be bad for service – it all depends on the airline. Vinny remembers his favourite lamb pastry flying to Canada from LHR on Air Canada. There are shared memories of getting leftovers as ground crew – both above and below the wing. Airlines that provide free overnight hotel stops – Vinny shares a childhood memory of a flight from YYZ-KUL via HKG with an included stay at the Kimberly Hotel. We share a story from Evelyn W who got a complimentary stay at a hotel in DEL while flying from SYD-FRA. But alas it is a rare thing nowadays. Some airlines though offer a stopover option without an additional fee. News Items: Business Traveller article "Southwest tests boarding from rear of planes" pointmetotheplane article "Jail Time For Baggage Handler Who Swapped 250+ Luggage Tags" If you have a meal or free included hotel story, a question or other experience that you would like to share, please email us at stories(at)seat1a.org or find us on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Patreon. Flight 098. Shinkansen Gran Class, Four Seasons Mexico and Popeye Chicken sandwich, are we still an aviation podcast? The Eagle's Nest at LAX. Aer Pluto Lingus. SFO goes stupid with plastic. The 777x decompressed explosively. The 737 MAX is still wingless. Alex gets BA at the top of their game for an almost-diverted flight. NRT gets e-gates and Tokyo will get aircrafts over it (point your finger at HND). Qatar insists on business buses. Norwegian could get WOWd. WOW is reborn by the way of a Le Carre enigma. Paul finally flies AA, loves the B&O headphones. ANA goes BONX (and Alex goes ANA). Delevingne coffee at Heathrow. AA illogical re-re-refits. We meet listeners, thank you so much everyone (and for your patience!). Extraordinary times in Hong Kong, at HKG and for Cathay. Is Detroit DTW our #1 US airport? A magnificent Livermore Fest.
Better Future Podcast - Made for People - Design in the Boardroom
This episode is a panel session recorded live in HKG at IBM. It is a panel session of experts without any safety nets who talk frankly about design in the boardroom. Our panelists address a series of questions including how design is being managed up, down and across organisations, where we are up to in the sophistication of design culture, what tools we can use to embed design in the boardroom and what are the greatest successes in changing economic outcomes through design. Panelists: Michael Tam, Chief Creative Catalyst @ IBM iX Andrew Mead, Chief Architect at MTR Corporation Homaxi Irani, Head of UX & Design, SEEK Asia Bob Neville, Global Retail Creative Director at New Balance
In this experience, we look at railway to runway, using train services - that are often tied into the booking of your flight - to get to and from your airport. How does it work? How does it affect your baggage? Are you able to check in your bags at other airports besides the airport? What happens if your plane or train is late? Make sure you're catching the train at the right station. Vinny shares his city check-in experience at HKG. Does anyone still do curbside check-in? Shoutout to train travel writer extraordinaire Mark Smith – aka "The Man in Seat Sixty-One". If you're in a tough spot while, a train may be an option to get you to your short to mid-length destination. The railway to runway option is not limited to Europe...Taiwan has the option to book discounts on the high-speed rail system. Vinny shares his experience train travelling in Hungary and missed his station stop – in the days before smartphones...and how a phone call to Geoff helped him get back on track. Geoff shares a plane to train experience – complete with Nietzsche. And you never know what you're experience you're going to have...even a train car singalong in Germany. Jet Airways (9W) suspending operations. Skift news item about credit card companies holding back ticket revenue from Norwegian (DY). Will Geoff run into problems when he flies them from OSL-JFK in a few months? FlightGlobal news item about Firefly (FY) resuming flights from SZB to XSP. Vinny shares an experience from HKG-ZRH where he had to circle above the city to avoid a typhoon and an airspace restriction. Business Traveller news item on Boeing 737 Max grounding leading to Air Canada (AC) cancellations and schedule amendments. What happens when an airline swaps aircraft to a larger plane? It’s been some time since the Singapore Open Electricity Market’s zonal roll out. How’s it going so far? How much have consumers benefited and are there too many retailers in the market now? We chat with Gaurav Modi, Chief Executive Officer (SEA and HKG) at Capgemini and Andrew Koscharsky, General Manager, Wholesale and Trading at iSwitch.
Exploring the world of airport lounges. What's in them, what lounges are available for whom, and are there ways around the restrictions? Getting a Thai massage at BKK before your flight. Comfortable beds for sleeping at FRA Lufthansa HON lounge. Accessing the lounge – there are many different ways. First and business ticket holders, flight status holders, certain credit card holders. The multitude of lounges available with both airline/alliance lounges and third-party lounges. Consider opening your wallet in some cases and paying a for single entry or for an annual membership (Virgin Australia also has a lifetime membership!) Vinny somehow got into a lounge with an expired status card - and not just once or twice. The incredible Etihad Residence Lounge at AUH with a shout-out to Sam Chui for his review! And at the other end of the scale – wait until you hear about the "lounge" experience at LXR. When is it worth paying for lounge access? How a simple shower will rejuvenate you between long intercontinental flights. Don't forget about sleeping cabins and pods at some airports...are they worth it? The crazy busy SilverKris T3 lounge at SIN in the later evening...and Qantas upping their first-class lounge game at SIN by late 2019. SAS Golden Lounge at CPH – a new daylight boosting zone for those long Nordic winter nights. Cathay Pacific paid lounge access promotion at three airports flying to HKG. The world of baggage from the check-in counter to the airport's internal maze of baggage belts to loading on the plane to getting it off the plane and back to your hands when you arrive. But what about non-perfect days? A not-so-nostalgic look back at the old T4 baggage capacity issues at LHR. Your bag is misplaced – here's the chart – is it a BK 22 or something else? Just what is WorldTracer and what does have to do with your lost bag? How does your airline compensate you for a lost bag? The bag lost its tag what happens now - is it a dead bag, or just pining for the fjords? Who knows - it might have ended up in Norway. For goodness sakes, make sure the tag is fastened on something attached securely to your bag. Limited liability – what does it mean for you and your bag? Why 32 kilos? Your plane is late, what could that mean for your bag? Geoff had to load a passenger's *what* in the rear hold? Wait until you hear Vinny's story of what people packed their clothes into and tried to check in. Oh, the stories of customs clearance and the incredible things people pack – by the way, what's that dark mass on the x-ray? New landside baggage check-in option at HKG - a long way from the terminal. The day has arrived - moving IST from Atatürk to the New terminal. Question of the weekWhy do Canadian airports have a Y prefix, whereas the ones in the UK are more city-related? All trains stop a Geneva central station and you'll be there in a short 5 minutes. Leaving Geneva Airport, make sure you take a look at the security gates at the end, there's often less people than the ones people turn first at (there's a Fast Track corridor on both ends). You can also try to go through the F gates—although usually reserved for passengers traveling to France, staff might let y
