Hey Sisters! In today's raw and real podcast episode, we're diving deep into the true essence of motherhood - not the perfectly curated Instagram version, but the messy, beautiful, challenging reality of raising children while maintaining your faith and sanity. This summer has been intense for me personally. Between recovering from surgery, moving to a new town, and managing multiple kid appointments, I've been feeling the weight of motherhood more than ever. But here's the truth: you're not alone, and you're definitely not failing. I want to remind you that motherhood is a spiritual calling, not just a daily task. Scripture tells us children are a heritage from the Lord, and every moment - even the chaotic ones - matters. We explored the powerful stories of Lois and Eunice, Timothy's grandmother and mother, who shaped a key church leader through their quiet, consistent faith. Key takeaways: Motherhood isn't about perfection, but about consistently showing up Your faith matters more than your Instagram-worthy moments God sees you and is strengthening you, even when you feel exhausted I shared some personal strategies for maintaining spiritual health: inviting God into every moment, being honest with my kids about my limitations, and creating space for myself. I'm also doing a 30-day social media detox to help me stay focused and present. Journal prompts to help you reflect: How do you see motherhood as a spiritual calling? What does parenting with eternity in mind look like for you? How is your faith showing up in daily mom life? Remember, you are doing important Kingdom work. Those seeds you're planting? They matter more than you know. Praying for you always, Michelle P.S. Need support? Email me at michelle@setfreesisterhood.com. You're not alone in this journey.

Ministry isn't a job title—it's a way of life. In this powerful Thursday episode of the Raising Godly Girls Podcast, co-hosts Rachael Culpepper and Natalie Ambrose unpack what it means for families to embrace ministry as both a calling and a legacy. Whether you're a family of pastors, faithful volunteers, or simply parents trying to serve Jesus through everyday moments, this conversation will challenge and encourage you to let your family's light shine brightly in the world. Through heartfelt stories—from Rich Mullins' radical generosity to the everyday acts of preschool volunteering and neighborhood service—Rachael and Natalie illustrate that ministry can happen anywhere: around the kitchen table, in the car, at a church workday, or even in the checkout line. You'll be reminded that a Kingdom impact doesn't require a pulpit, just a posture of obedience. You'll also hear from AHG Founder & Executive Director Emeritus Patti Garibay in a special Raising Godly Girls Minute that paints a picture of young girls ministering to hospital patients through simple, Spirit-led acts of compassion. It's a moving reminder that no one is too young—or too ordinary—to be used by God. This episode dives into two vital heart postures every family can adopt: a willingness to let God multiply their influence and a readiness to make sacrifices for His Kingdom. Whether you're serving in a formal church role or quietly discipling your daughter at home, your life of faithfulness can ripple into eternity. Scriptures Referenced: Matthew 25:34–40 – “Whatever you did for the least of these…you did for Me.” Proverbs 19:21 – “Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails.” Acts 1:8 – “You will be My witnesses…to the ends of the earth.” Deuteronomy 7:9 – “He is the faithful God, keeping His covenant of love to a thousand generations…” Explore more resources to raise girls rooted in Christ at raisinggodlygirls.com. If we actually take the gospel, the essential message of Jesus Christ, and we live it out, what will it look like? That's what the Sermon on the Mount is about. And in this part of Jesus' Sermon on the Mount, we get to the area of money and possessions. Jesus tells us three things we can draw out here: 1) how money exercises power over us, 2) why money exercises power over us, and 3) how we can break the power. This sermon was preached by Dr. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on May 2, 1999. Series: The Mount; Life in the Kingdom. Scripture: Matthew 6:19-34. Growing In God Podcast Title: Pray From Fulfillment Web Description: If someone gives you a plate of delicious food, do you still pray, “God, give me food! Where is the food You promised me?” No, you just take it and say, “Thank you.” Yet even though God has already given us everything, we pray as if we have not received it. We need to change that way of praying. We need to shift our focus from this realm and dwell in the spirit realm where God's Word is already fulfilled and then pray from that place. Show Notes: When you pray, are you asking as someone who is separated from the fulfillment of your prayer? Are you asking God to bring a fulfillment that you are convinced you do not have? Yeshua (Jesus) said, “All things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them.” If we have already received the answer to our prayers, then there is a way to pray from a place of fulfillment rather than from a place of looking for fulfillment. Our minds have trouble grasping this concept, but it is simply a matter of changing our perception. We can decide where we want our awareness to be. The Scriptures tell us that God has transferred us out of the realm of darkness into the Kingdom of His beloved Son. Therefore, our minds do not need to be controlled by our awareness of the physical realm. We can focus our awareness on His Kingdom. We can walk in the Spirit. Our dwelling place can be the spirit world where all things are finished and all things are possible. Our minds can be controlled by a new awareness of what God has already accomplished by His Word. How do we get this awareness when we are so conditioned by what our senses tell us about the physical realm? We can go the Word of God. He has already told us what is in His Kingdom, and we just need to start relating to it. Let us start thinking God's thoughts that are conformed to His Word rather than our thoughts that are conformed to this world. Let us be transformed by the renewing of our minds so that when we pray, we are not asking God to do something in the future; rather, we are thanking Him for what He said is already done. Key Verses: • Colossians 1:13–14. “He… transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son.” • John 14:2. “In My Father's house are many dwelling places.” • Revelation 12:7–9. “Satan, who deceives the whole world; he was thrown down to the earth.” • Acts 8:37–40. “The Spirit of the Lord snatched Philip away; and … Philip found himself at Azotus.” • 1 Corinthians 3:18–23. “Things present or things to come; all things belong to you.” • John 14:23. “My Father will love him, and We will come to him and make Our abode with him.” • Mark 11:24. “All things for which you pray and ask, believe that you have received them.” • 2 Corinthians 12:2–5. “Such a man was caught up to the third heaven.” • Jeremiah 32:37–42. “I am going to bring on them all the good that I am promising them.” • 2 Peter 1:3. “His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness.” • Psalm 23:5. “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.” • Romans 12:2. “Be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” • 2 Corinthians 10:5. “We are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ.” • Isaiah 55:8. “My thoughts are not your thoughts.” Quotes: • “Prophets like Elijah and Elisha and others obviously knew how to move in the spirit so that things resulted from that. That has always been my understanding of what we in this day and age, as God's people, as moving as prophets, are to be able to do—manifest the reality of what the Scriptures are saying.” • “If you would turn off every physical sense that you have, you would still be aware; you just wouldn't be aware of the material world. But your awareness wouldn't go away because our awareness exists as part of our life. And that awareness can be focused where we want it.” • “It was finished in Genesis when He created it, and He finished all His work. He finished all His work, and He sat down and rested and told us to rest. Well, how do we rest? We rest when we can sit down in those finished works.” Takeaways: 1. When we pray, we need to position ourselves in the fulfillment of the Word of God instead of praying for it to happen in the future. Simply take what God has spoken and realize that if it is a Word from God, then it is not something that will be; it is something that already is. 2. Our awareness is our own, and we choose what we want to be aware of. Spiritual awareness is something we have in the Holy Spirit, and the Scriptures tell us it is absolutely possible to be in a realm other than the physical realm that we normally focus on. We can dwell in a spiritual realm where the works of God are finished and His Word is already fulfilled. 3. The prophecies of Scripture are ours now, and we do not have to put their fulfillment off in the future. So we need to put ourselves and everything we are praying for in that realm where everything God promised in His Word already exists.

SEEING CLEARLY THROUGH BLIND EYES!In Mark 8:22-25, we encounter a unique miracle performed by Jesus—a gradual healing of a blind man.
Read OnlineAt that time Jesus exclaimed: “I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike.” Matthew 11:25This passage is in stark contrast to the passage just before it in which Jesus chastised the towns of Chorazin, Bethsaida and Capernaum for not repenting and believing in Him. And as soon as Jesus issued those rebukes, He turned His eyes to Heaven and offered praise to the Father for revealing the hidden mysteries of the Kingdom of Heaven to those who were “childlike.”One of the greatest threats to a pure and childlike faith is intellectual pride. Those who consider themselves as “wise and learned” are often tempted to rely upon their own reasoning abilities to come to conclusions and beliefs in life. The problem is that even though the matters of our faith are fully reasonable, they go beyond the conclusions that human reason alone can achieve. We cannot figure out God by ourselves. We need the gift of faith for that, and the gift of faith begins with a spiritual communication from God through which He reveals to us Who He is and what is true. Only the childlike, meaning, those who are humble, are able to hear this form of communication from God and respond. This passage also reveals to us that Jesus passionately rejoices in this form of humble faith. He gives “praise” to the Father in Heaven for witnessing such faith, because Jesus knows that this form of faith originates from the Father. In your life, it is important that you regularly ponder whether you are more like the wise and learned or like those who are childlike. Though God is an infinite and incomprehensible mystery, He must be known. And the only way we can come to know God is if He reveals Himself to us. And the only way God will reveal Himself to us is if we remain humble and childlike. As we come to childlike faith, we must also imitate the praise that Jesus offered the Father for the faith that He witnessed in the lives of His followers. We, too, must turn our eyes to those who clearly manifest this pure knowledge of God by the gift of faith. As we see this faith lived, we must rejoice and offer praise to the Father. And this act of praise must be given not only when we see faith alive in others, it must also be given when we see the gift of faith grow within our own soul. We must foster a holy awe of what God does within us, and we must rejoice in that experience. Reflect, today, upon Jesus giving praise to the Father as He witnesses the faith born in the hearts of His followers. When Jesus looks at you, what does He do? Does He issue chastisements? Or does His Sacred Heart rejoice and give praise for what He sees. Give joy to the Heart of Christ by humbling yourself to the point that you, too, are counted among the childlike who truly know and love God. My rejoicing Lord, You are attentive to the workings of grace in every human heart. As You see the Voice of the Father speaking to Your children, You rejoice at such a sight. Dear Lord, I pray that my own heart will be the cause of Your joy and Your praise of the Father in Heaven. Please speak to me and help me to believe with all my heart. This episode marks a milestone—400 episodes of Gospel Spice! In this special group conversation, Stéphanie Rousselle welcomes Angel Omoruan, Ros Evans, and Lindsay Sterious to reflect on God's enduring goodness, the landscape of inner growth, and the beauty of vulnerability within Christian community. Stephanie and her friends reflect on the importance of serving “the one,” being open to “hidden spaces” where ministry might not be grand but is deeply significant. God's presence is not limited to moments of solitude or to times of communal support. Both are necessary, and God moves in each. Big announcement! Sign up for our Prayer Course at gospelspice.com/prayer The Power of Community: The “Turtle Formation” Ros kicks things off by revisiting her journey toward understanding her true nature as an introvert. Despite often appearing energetic and talkative, she recognizes that she draws strength from solitude. She introduces the term “turtling”—retreating inward to recharge. Introversion isn't a weakness or escape, but a necessary, God-given rhythm for many. The “turtle formation” provides a picture of believers locking arms, forming a shield for one another in times of attack or weakness. Lindsay and Ros share stories of community prayer sustaining them in difficulty. Ros notes, “find the people who are willing to turtle with you…that is needed to stand firm in truth.” “Turtling” can become unhealthy when it turns into disengagement and numbness. While retreating is sometimes needed for healing and reflection, it must be balanced with healthy connection to God and others. In prolonged withdrawal, we risk isolation and disconnection from the very relationships that God uses for our spiritual growth. God's Lessons through Life Transitions and Challenges Angel relates to Ros's introversion, recounting how recent life changes exposed emotions she hadn't faced before. Like Ros, she found that retreating—turtling—was partly God's way of protecting her and prompting introspection. However, she also describes God's gentle promptings to re-engage with others, learn to lament, extend grace, and embrace vulnerability. Angel brings in the “turtle formation” used by Roman soldiers. This image of locked shields captures how Christian community can protect and carry one another. There's wisdom in both knowing when to retreat for healing and when to rejoin the ranks for mutual encouragement. Community as Spiritual Armor Lindsay adds her own testimony of being “carried” by her community through a difficult season involving her daughter's health. She describes a profound experience of being prayed for—allowing herself to be vulnerable, supported, and reminded that the body of Christ is meant to shield one another. This spiritual “turtle formation” is a source of strength, comfort, and tangible experience of God's care. The Value of Vulnerability Angel reflects on the difficulty—and gift—of being vulnerable, especially when God calls us to serve. She shares that being present and obedient in the small, unnoticed moments often becomes a blessing, not only for others, but for ourselves. By being honest, especially when we struggle, we open space for God to work uniquely through us. Ros sums it up: “when you know the Holy Spirit has you at a place in a moment, you forget about everything…and by the time I finish, the person's getting blessed and I'm getting blessed too.” Stephanie highlights how we often wait for “big” moments, but Jesus values our faithfulness in serving the “one”—whether a child, a mentee, or a congregation member. She remarks, “let's just focus on what really, really matters,” echoing the importance of focusing on small daily acts of love and service. God in the Quiet and in the Crowd The Christian walk is not about perfection, but humility, honesty, and interdependence. Whether you're serving quietly, struggling privately, or standing “in turtle formation” with others, God sees, sustains, and works through it all. Be encouraged to walk vulnerably, faithfully, and together. Key Takeaways: Embrace your God-given temperament (introvert or extrovert). Healthy retreats (“turtling”) are vital, but must be balanced with intentional connection. Vulnerability—within safe community—unveils God's love and the power of prayer. Spiritual battles are not fought alone; we lock shields through fellowship and humility. God uses both quiet moments and community engagement to reveal His goodness and grace. Challenge: This week, ask God where you might need a healthy retreat—and where you might need to step back into community to “lock shields” with others. Practice vulnerable honesty, and remember that God is present both in your shell and on the battlefield. Details and registration here: https://www.gospelspice.com/prayer There are a few things in our Christian life that we know we should do more, or at least better – and prayer just might top the list. Prayer is a mystery. Why would a conversation with a human have any influence on God's eternal, sovereign plan? It defies logic, and beckons love. How can God, the Almighty Lord of Hosts, be this close, this personal? It defies understanding, and beckons involvement. But, lack of time, inspiration, and discipline, combined with the ruthless tyranny of our busy lives, push prayer to the periphery, to the “one day I'll get to it” pile. And yet, we can excel at what we endeavor to undertake. So, why isn't prayer more of a spiritual priority? Could we develop a mindset around prayer that made it attractive, inspiring, even maybe delightful? What if we attuned our spiritual ears to listen to God, and our spiritual eyes to see His provision? As an unassuming student, I'm going to humbly offer to share the little I have learned from others about the joy of prayer. I will give us theology, practical tips, and useful resources, sharing what works for me as we, together, learn to pray. If you find prayer intimidating, or if your lack of prayer makes you feel guilty or “less than,” then this is the place for you! If you have been a student of prayer for many years, this is the place for you too! If you have breath in your lungs, then prayer can become one of the deepest joys of your day. Don't miss out! A PERSPECTIVE ABOUT PRAYER To pray is to believe that God not only hears, but that He responds. It is to stand in the gap for a broken world, wielding the authority of Christ, empowered by the Spirit, and trusting in the goodness of the Father. The question is not whether prayer works, but whether we are willing to pray the kinds of prayers that invite God's Kingdom into the darkest places of the earth—and of our own hearts. We may never fully understand the mechanics of prayer, or how it intersects with God's sovereignty, but we are not called to understand everything. We are called to be faithful. And faithfulness means showing up—in prayer, in persistence, in expectation. So today, let us pray not only for the comfort of our hearts, but for the transformation of the world. Let us take our place as image-bearers, co-laborers, and co-heirs. Let us believe that God is still listening—and still acting. Because He is. There's only one way to find out what might happen when we truly pray like this. Let's begin. You can't walk in your calling until you walk with the Caller. In this powerful episode, we break down Psalm 18 and uncover 6 names David used to describe the Lord—Rock, Fortress, Deliverer, Strength, Shield, and High Tower. Why does this matter? Because before you do anything with God, you have to believe something about Him. Hebrews 11:6 says you must believe that He exists—and that He rewards those who seek Him. David didn't just serve God. He knew Him. And that intimacy was the key to every battle he won, every psalm he penned, and every legacy he left behind. If you feel like you're striving, stuck, or spiritually dry, this episode will reignite your faith, restore your perspective, and root you deeper in God's character.
Garth Heckman The David Alliance TDAgiantSlayer@Gmail.com Matthew the first book of the Bible… The Book: One of the most important books of the New Testament, widely read and influential throughout Christian history. * Provides a comprehensive account of Jesus' life, teachings, death, and resurrection IT WAS WRITTEN BY LEVI (MATTHEW) * Matthew was a beautifully crafted book written to the Jews. It is foundational to the other gospels. * He quotes the old Testament over 100 times and eludes to it another 50. *- He mentions the Kingdom 55 times * - He mentions Kingdom of heaven 32 times - - - Matthew was never mentioned after Acts 2? History records that he was martyred in Ethiopia by sword. His Social Standing: Wealthy due to his profession, but socially ostracized. Likely literate and skilled in record-keeping, essential for his work. *and this is a good thing. He gives us the clearest historical picture of who Jesus is - which is what the Jews needed. But he was a tax collector… they were hated by the jews. Many times you see in scripture where it says Jesus was with sinners and publicans which is a tax collector. This the scriptures way of telling us how the jews saw tax collectors…it would be like saying “this guy is bad, he is a sinner… but this guy… he is a tax collector… NOW THATS A SINNER! But here is the twist… - * History points to the belief that Matthew was the cousin of Jesus. Matthews father “Alphaeus Cephus” was the brother of Joseph- Jesus stepfather. How hard is it for us to forgive people… pretty hard. But how hard is it for us to forgive family? EVEN HARDER… Matthew obviously knew who Jesus was and now who he claimed to be. Jesus of course knew who Matthew was… Jesus nicknames Levi “Matthew” which means gift from God. No one at that time looked at Levi and thought “gift of god” but rather curse from man or the roman government…. But Jesus saw who he could be…. Matthew was a tax collector - which meant He was a copius note taker Extremely educated and literate Gifted in negotiation Gift in debate and defense Handling disputes Detailed record keeping ALL OF THIS REFLECTS HIS WRITING IN THE BOOK OF MATTHEW! See when you come to Christ- he uses your past to be the framework for your future in faith.

On the surface, one of the most unattractive things about Christianity to our culture today is its view of sex; but if you look underneath the surface and get a better grasp on what is really taught, the Christian view of sex is one of the most attractive things about it. In other words, a lot of people see the Christian understanding of sex as undermining its credibility to them, but when you look down deeper, I think you're actually going to see the Christian view of sex is one of the evidences for its truth. Because Christianity accounts for how sex operates in our lives, in our relationships, and in our society. Let's draw out four things Jesus is saying about this in the Sermon on the Mount: 1) there is such a thing as lust, 2) what it's not, 3) what it is, and 4) how it can be healed. This sermon was preached by Dr. Timothy Keller at Redeemer Presbyterian Church on April 25, 1999. Series: The Mount; Life in the Kingdom. Scripture: Matthew 5:27-30. Today's podcast is brought to you by Gospel in Life, the site for all sermons, books, study guides and resources from Timothy Keller and Redeemer Presbyterian Church.
