Join host Justin Forman for a crucial conversation with Dave Blanchard, CEO of Praxis, as they pause to reflect on where the faith-driven entrepreneurship movement stands today. In a year marked by uncertainty and rapid change, Dave shares insights from Praxis's annual letter, exploring how entrepreneurs can navigate challenges while staying true to their calling. This episode dives deep into the "moral ecology" that defines authentic faith-driven entrepreneurship - moving beyond buzzwords to examine what it truly means to build redemptively in today's marketplace. From practicing what we preach to embracing meaningful risk, Dave and Justin unpack the essential code that separates genuine Kingdom builders from those merely using faith as a marketing tool.Key Topics:The moral ecology of faith-driven entrepreneurship: 8 core principlesWhy "practicing what you preach" is the foundation of authentic leadershipThe three types of risk every entrepreneur must consider: money, comfort, and reputationHow to maintain Kingdom identity while building in the marketplaceThe difference between driven leaders and called leadersWhy people are eternal and projects are temporalNavigating the shift from faith being risky to mention to potentially exploiting itBuilding businesses that demonstrate redemptive practices, not just talk about themNotable Quotes:"People are eternal and projects are temporal. So how do we operationalize that?" - Dave Blanchard"Culture is not codified until someone loses their job because they violated it." - Dave Blanchard"There's a chance anytime the door opens up for us that we say, 'Oh, man, we felt exploited for so long by not being able to say this.'" - Dave Blanchard"When you find yourself exploding at a situation, something's gone haywire with your need for an outcome, your desire for control." - Dave Blanchard

Welcome to our 4th episode in our “Malachi” series! Today we explore a rich conversation with God through the dynamics of divine justice and mercy, focusing on the relationship between God's unchanging nature and His offer of grace to humanity. Malachi offers both a picture of God's judgment, targeting sins such as sorcery, adultery, and oppression, and at the same time, God declares His constancy, ensuring that humanity isn't consumed. This paradox of divine justice and mercy is a central theme in the book of Malachi, since God's steadfast love is the foundation of our existence and redemption. God, speaking through Malachi, presents tithing as a practical expression of faith. Tithing symbolizes our dependence on God as an act of returning blessings back to Him. In Christ, tithing is not as a strict obligation, but a way to encourage a lifestyle of generosity and trust in God's provision. Tithing is not about a precise percentage, but about the spirit of generosity that reflects our relationship with God. The people of Malachi's time doubted the benefit of serving God, equating prosperity with divine favor. This prosperity gospel mindset, so prevalent in our own day and age, misses the true reward of intimacy with God, over and against mere material gain. Today, Malachi offers us a powerful reminder of God's promise to His people, stating that those who fear Him and honor His name are cherished by Him. We come full circle when we connect Malachi's message to its prophetic fulfillment through Jesus Christ, who offers the ultimate relationship and reward with God. Stephanie encourages reflection on this relationship and challenges us to align our actions with our faith, fostering a community that esteems God's Name. Overall, the book of Malachi is about understanding the depth of God's love and justice, encouraging us to return to God with open hearts, and recognizing the unparalleled reward of a close relationship with Him. Through Malachi's questions and answers, we are invited to explore our own faith, rooted and established in Christ. We are invited to seek God's presence and promises in our generation, in the context of historical Scripture. You are invited to join us on the Gospel Spice Prayer Bible Study, titled "The heart behind prayer" starting September 20, 2025! Details and registration here: https://www.gospelspice.com/prayer  There are a few things in our Christian life that we know we should do more, or at least better – and prayer just might top the list. Prayer is a mystery. Why would a conversation with a human have any influence on God's eternal, sovereign plan? It defies logic, and beckons love. How can God, the Almighty Lord of Hosts, be this close, this personal? It defies understanding, and beckons involvement. But, lack of time, inspiration, and discipline, combined with the ruthless tyranny of our busy lives, push prayer to the periphery, to the “one day I'll get to it” pile. And yet, we can excel at what we endeavor to undertake. So, why isn't prayer more of a spiritual priority? Could we develop a mindset around prayer that made it attractive, inspiring, even maybe delightful? What if we attuned our spiritual ears to listen to God, and our spiritual eyes to see His provision? As an unassuming student, I'm going to humbly offer to share the little I have learned from others about the joy of prayer. I will give us theology, practical tips, and useful resources, sharing what works for me as we, together, learn to pray. If you find prayer intimidating, or if your lack of prayer makes you feel guilty or “less than,” then this is the place for you! If you have been a student of prayer for many years, this is the place for you too! If you have breath in your lungs, then prayer can become one of the deepest joys of your day. Don't miss out! A PERSPECTIVE ABOUT PRAYER To pray is to believe that God not only hears, but that He responds. It is to stand in the gap for a broken world, wielding the authority of Christ, empowered by the Spirit, and trusting in the goodness of the Father. The question is not whether prayer works, but whether we are willing to pray the kinds of prayers that invite God's Kingdom into the darkest places of the earth—and of our own hearts. We may never fully understand the mechanics of prayer, or how it intersects with God's sovereignty, but we are not called to understand everything. We are called to be faithful. And faithfulness means showing up—in prayer, in persistence, in expectation. So today, let us pray not only for the comfort of our hearts, but for the transformation of the world. Let us take our place as image-bearers, co-laborers, and co-heirs. Let us believe that God is still listening—and still acting. Because He is. There's only one way to find out what might happen when we truly pray like this. Let's begin. THE MINDSET BEHIND THIS COURSE Before we begin, let me tell you the obvious: I don't really know how to pray. I'm a humble student and absolute beginner at the holy endeavor that is prayer. So, this course isn't really about what I've learned, or any wisdom I might have gathered. But, I've sat at the feet of many prayer warriors over the decades, through books and teachings. So, I'll share what I learned from them. Humility is going to be our primary heart posture! With each lesson, I will offer a few thoughts, practices, and ideas – with much humility, and not taking myself too seriously. I will also share her favorite books and resources about prayer. FInally, I will introduce you to some of the most influential prayer warriors of our history as the Body of Christ. Most importantly, I will invite YOU to pray! Learning to pray comes from praying. Our humble ambition is to inspire you to pray, and to give you a few tips on how to do that. Then, it's up to you! Prayer is a lifelong endeavor. Let's make it delightful together! Inspired by Bishop Marvin Sapp's Controversial Church Donation Tactics, this week on Pass The Mic we are unpacking church traditions that might need to be examined for 2025 and beyond. Whether its 'Preachers with Props', viral church moments, a lack of pastoral vetting, or an excess of gatekeeping, practices across all denominations are not above critique and should be interrogated as to their value in true Kingdom work. For those that missed it: Gospel legend and bishop Marvin Sapp faced major backlash after a resurfaced sermon clip from the Pentecostal Assemblies of the World convention went viral. In the video, Sapp instructs ushers to close the church doors until each of the 1,000 attendees donates $20, aiming to raise $40,000 on the spot. He even challenges the live stream viewers to do the same and tells pastors on stage to give $100 each. #MarvinSapp #ChurchControversy #GospelMusic #ChristianNews #ViralVideo #PentecostalChurch #MarvinSappSermon Learn more about your ad choices. The random turning for Monday comes to us from 2 Samuel 7: 1-17 The Davidic Convenant again!  This is a 3 part mini-series that the Holy Spirit is pointing out again because it talks about God's permanent contract with Israel, and that not only is He NOT DONE with Israel, but He is currently grafting them all back in to their own tree!   Here's the ULTRA EXCITING PART OF THAT....That happens when the "fullness of the Gentiles" happens, which means when all the Gentiles that are going to convert have now converted, or at least the last couple are finishing up!  Do you realize what that means??  That means, that we are the Bride and the Groom is about ready to come back for His bride and take her back to His Father's house to give her the room that He has "gone to prepare a room for" and so that points to rapture BIGTIME!  The more Jews start converting to Christianity, the closer we are to see 444, the Key of David, turn that lock and open the door for rapture that lets those who are found worthy to enter into the Kingdom of Go for the Marriage Supper of the Lamb! We are HARPOZO'd up then 444, the Key of David is used and the door closes shut behind us!! WOWWWWWW!! If you are blessed by today's Bible study, please support my channel by liking, subscribing, commenting, and sharing with your friends and family!  I am not a Pastor, and agree with God's word that women are not supposed to be Pastors.  However, all people are called to share the gospel. It is perfectly acceptable and Biblical for women to lead Bibles studies outside the church as an ancillary addition to the church, and especially if it is a viable avenue for study of the Word on a daily basis, like I'm doing on this show, and paving the way for all of us to be closer to the Lord and become more knowledgeable of the Bible.  If you care to contribute to my work with the Daily Bible study and sharing the Gospel, as part of your tithes and offerings, you can do so through PayPal by sending it to my PayPal address of: ReneHoladay@gmail.com  Thank you for watching and God Bless you all! ;() --------------------- The primary study bible that Rene' uses is the 'Spirit-filled Life Bible, by Jack Hayford, and is available in hard cover or faux leather on Amazon at:  https://amzn.to/434fBnQ You can watch this episode on Youtube at:  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2v9ekffu7ds Please be sure to LIKE, SUBSCRIBE, COMMENT, and SHARE!

Christ declares that from the days of John the Baptist until now, the Kingdom of Heaven has suffered violence, and the violent take it by force. This does not mean that men can wrestle the Kingdom from God's hands, but rather that true conversion always involves earnestness, spiritual struggle, and holy zeal. Salvation is not gained by sloth, but by the Spirit's quickening power which leads to urgent and effectual seeking of God.

You've probably heard the saying “Money talks.” What would money say to you if it wanted to be your idol? And what might God say in contrast?1.     Money says: “Look at how much more others have than you.”  This counterfeit god uses envy to enslave us, driving us to want more. Proverbs 14:30 says, “A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.”God says: “Be content with and grateful for what you have.” The antidote to envy is gratitude. 2.     Money says: “You don't have a greed problem.” Money insists, “You don't have enough money to be called greedy. Only rich people are greedy.” Yet Jesus warned an audience of mostly poor people, “Watch out! Be on guard against all kinds of greed.”  God says: “Recognize that the tendency toward greed is a constant challenge.” The antidote to greed is generosity. 3.     Money says: “Worry about me!”  We have the illusion that we won't worry about money if we have more money. But the fact is, the more money we have, the more we think about it and worry about it. God says: “Trust me as your provision and source.” There is a linkage between seeking God's Kingdom and knowing God's provision. 4.     Money says: “Giving may be a good idea, but you can't afford it.” One of the biggest lies money tells is that if you had more money, you'd be more generous. But statistics show that people with lower incomes give a higher percentage of their money than people with higher incomes. God says: “Give, not because you can afford to, but because you can't afford not to.”  If you don't start understanding the role of generosity when you don't have much, you will not grow into it when you do have much. 5.     Money says: “If you just keep getting more, eventually you'll have enough.” But it's like a treadmill of acquisition; we never get there. We never reach “enough.”God says: “The antidote for consumerism is compassion.” Only when you choose to spend on behalf of others instead of on yourself will your heart begin to change. Text: Luke 16:13; 12:15-34; 19:1-8  Originally recorded on December 12, 2010, at Fellowship Missionary Church, Fort Wayne, IN

Don't Waste the Great Gift of Influence (Formerly titled: Don't Waste Your Impact) It's easy to underestimate just how much weight your words, actions, and attitudes carry—especially in your marriage. But the truth is, your spouse is the person you impact most in this life. And that impact can either build up or break down. It can draw them closer to Jesus—or push them further away. Whether you're aware of it or not, you are influencing every day. The real question is: how are you using that influence? In today's episode, we're exploring what Scripture and research say about the power of marriage, how your smallest habits shape your legacy, and why taking your influence seriously could be one of the most important decisions you make—not just for your spouse, but for eternity. Why Your Marriage Holds the Greatest Influence in Your Life Research from the Holmes-Rahe Stress Scale confirms it: five of the top ten most stressful life events are marriage-related. Death of a spouse. Divorce. Separation. Reconciliation. Even getting married. All of these events shape us more than we realize—impacting not only our emotions but our physical health. That's why your role in your marriage is far from trivial. It's your greatest mission field. Beyond your spouse, your children are next in line for your influence. Their spiritual formation, character, and even understanding of Jesus may start with how they see you live. Influence Starts with the Smallest Seeds We often think influence must be grand—but it's the consistent, daily seeds that grow lasting fruit. Whether it's trying to put stubborn littles to bed while keeping a joyful attitude (“count it all joy when you face trials”), or sharing a genuine compliment with your spouse that communicates admiration or safety—these small acts build a legacy. The greatest impact comes through simple faithfulness: planting seeds of respect, encouragement, and love, again and again. Want to Be Effective? Influence with Soft Eyes and a Gentle Tone Influence is not control. It's not demanding. And it's certainly not harsh. If your heart is full of conviction, but your tone is sharp, your spouse may never hear your heart. Instead, they'll hear rejection, judgment, and intensity. That shuts hearts down. Instead, remember this: Soft Eyes Gentle Tone Slow Pace No, it's not an acronym yet—but it's a powerful practice. If it matters to you, slow down. Look at them with kindness. Speak with a spirit of gentleness. Because your delivery may determine whether your words are received—or rejected. Faith Isn't Meant to Stay Silent—So Stop Hiding It Somewhere along the way, many of us have absorbed the idea that faith is a purely private matter. But Scripture doesn't support that. Paul talks openly about his prayers, his tears, his awe at God's love. You don't need to boast—but you do need to be real. Share how you follow Jesus. Let your spouse and your kids see that He's not just a Sunday idea. He's your daily King. Character First. Ministry Second. The Bible is clear: if you can't manage your own household, how can you lead in the church? (1 Tim. 3, Titus 1) Your first ministry is your spouse. Your first testimony is how you treat them when no one is watching. Your first assignment is to steward the influence God has entrusted to you—in your tone, your time, and your tenderness. Don't Waste the Great Gift of Influence If you've ever caused your spouse to spend days mulling over a harsh word, you've influenced—for harm. That matters. God has given you the ability to heal and build up—or wound and tear down. We won't be perfect. But we must take our influence seriously. Let your words be seasoned with grace. Let your habits point to Jesus. Let your home be a place where His love is felt—because of you. Because when we stand before God, how we used our influence in marriage will matter. And your spouse's eternity may just be a little brighter because of your faithfulness. Final Thoughts Friend, your influence is real. And it's powerful. You don't have to be perfect to make a lasting impact—you just need to be faithful with the moments in front of you. One seed of kindness. One soft-eyed response. One patient, Spirit-led pause. These small choices shape hearts, build trust, and reflect the love of Jesus. So take heart. God has entrusted you with influence, not by accident, but for a purpose. And as you lean into Him and love your spouse with intention, you are planting seeds that can grow into something beautiful—something eternal.   Love, The Delight Your Marriage Team PS - Are you ready to take the next step in influencing your marriage for the better? Full Text of ReadingsMemorial of Saint Alphonsus Liguori, Bishop and Doctor of the Church Lectionary: 405The Saint of the day is Saint Alphonsus LiguoriSaint Alphonsus Liguori’s Story Moral theology, Vatican II said, should be more thoroughly nourished by Scripture, and show the nobility of the Christian vocation of the faithful and their obligation to bring forth fruit in charity for the life of the world. Alphonsus, declared patron of moral theologians by Pius XII in 1950, would rejoice in that statement. In his day, Alphonsus fought for the liberation of moral theology from the rigidity of Jansenism. His moral theology, which went through 60 editions in the century following him, concentrated on the practical and concrete problems of pastors and confessors. If a certain legalism and minimalism crept into moral theology, it should not be attributed to this model of moderation and gentleness. At the University of Naples, Alphonsus received a doctorate in both canon and civil law by acclamation, at the age of 16, but he soon gave up the practice of law for apostolic activity. He was ordained a priest, and concentrated his pastoral efforts on popular parish missions, hearing confessions, and forming Christian groups. He founded the Redemptorist congregation in 1732. It was an association of priests and brothers living a common life, dedicated to the imitation of Christ, and working mainly in popular missions for peasants in rural areas. Almost as an omen of what was to come later, he found himself deserted after a while by all his original companions except one lay brother. But the congregation managed to survive and was formally approved 17 years later, though its troubles were not over. Alphonsus' great pastoral reforms were in the pulpit and confessional—replacing the pompous oratory of the time with simplicity, and the rigorism of Jansenism with kindness. His great fame as a writer has somewhat eclipsed the fact that for 26 years he traveled up and down the Kingdom of Naples preaching popular missions. He was made bishop at age 66 after trying to reject the honor, and at once instituted a thorough reform of his diocese. His greatest sorrow came toward the end of his life. The Redemptorists, precariously continuing after the suppression of the Jesuits in 1773, had difficulty in getting their Rule approved by the Kingdom of Naples. Alphonsus acceded to the condition that they possess no property in common, but with the connivance of a high Redemptorist official, a royal official changed the Rule substantially. Alphonsus, old, crippled and with very bad sight, signed the document, unaware that he had been betrayed. The Redemptorists in the Papal States then put themselves under the pope, who withdrew those in Naples from the jurisdiction of Alphonsus. It was only after his death that the branches were united. At 71, Alphonsus was afflicted with rheumatic pains which left incurable bending of his neck. Until it was straightened a little, the pressure of his chin caused a raw wound on his chest. He suffered a final 18 months of “dark night” scruples, fears, temptations against every article of faith and every virtue, interspersed with intervals of light and relief, when ecstasies were frequent. Alphonsus is best known for his moral theology, but he also wrote well in the field of spiritual and dogmatic theology. His Glories of Mary is one of the great works on that subject, and his book Visits to the Blessed Sacrament went through 40 editions in his lifetime, greatly influencing the practice of this devotion in the Church. Reflection Saint Alphonsus was known above all as a practical man who dealt in the concrete rather than the abstract. His life is indeed a practical model for the everyday Christian who has difficulty recognizing the dignity of Christian life amid the swirl of problems, pain, misunderstanding and failure. Alphonsus suffered all these things. He is a saint because he was able to maintain an intimate sense of the presence of the suffering Christ through it all. On this July 31st episode, your host Hunter invites you to join in for day 213 of our journey through the Bible. Today's readings span Isaiah 63 and 64, Psalm 107, and John 2—unfolding powerful stories of God's faithful love, even during moments of doubt and struggle. Hunter reflects on the age-old questions we face: Does God see us? Does He truly care about what we're going through? Drawing wisdom from Isaiah and the Psalms, he reminds us that—even when we feel lost—God's unfailing love and presence remain constant. As we finish another month together, settle in for scripture, heartfelt prayer, and encouragement for the road ahead. Whether you're wrestling with questions or simply seeking peace, let's remember the hope we have in God's enduring love. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Do you ever feel like you don't really belong to God—wondering if He's truly at work in your life or even sees what you're going through? If so, you're not alone. These aren't just your thoughts; they are the lingering questions of God's people throughout generations. In Isaiah 63:19, the people cry out, “Sometimes it seems as though we never belong to you, as though we have never been known as your people.” Even though they knew the great stories of God's deliverance—how He split the sea, led them out of Egypt, rescued them with mighty acts—they struggled to find God in their own trials. David, too, recounted these same mighty acts in Psalm 107 and concluded: “Those who are wise will take all this to heart. They will see in our story the faithful love of the Lord.” Through the words of Isaiah and David, the Bible is reminding us to look at our own lives and our history as God's people with eyes of wisdom and faith. It's a call to pay attention to patterns—our forgetfulness, distrust, even rebellion. Over and over again, we wander, forget, and find ourselves powerless. But the story doesn't end there. There's a greater, more enduring theme woven through these passages—the never-ending, rescuing, faithful love of God. No matter our circumstances or feelings of abandonment, God promises that His love will not let us go. Even when His people rebelled, Isaiah writes, “In all their suffering, he also suffered. And he personally rescued them. In his love and mercy, he redeemed them, he lifted them up and carried them through all the years.” This is who God is—a God whose faithful love never ceases, whose presence goes with us, even when we cannot see or feel it. The call for us today is to remember—to anchor ourselves into God's story. It is a story of His unbreakable, steadfast love. This is our truest identity: even when we feel far away, abandoned, discarded, or alone, the truth remains that we are the people He has rescued, the ones He loves. God enters into our suffering, He walks with us, and He is the one who saves. That's the prayer for my own soul today—that these truths would settle deep inside me, that the presence and love of God would become my joy, my hope, and my peace. It's a prayer for my family—my wife, my daughters, my son—and it's a prayer for you. May you see, remember, and rest in the faithful love of the Lord. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. Grant that people everywhere may seek after you, and find you. Bring the nations into your fold, pour out your Spirit on all flesh, and hasten the coming of your kingdom through Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.   And now Lord,  make me an instrument of your peace.  Where there is hatred let me sow love. Where there is injury, pardon.  Where there is doubt, faith. Where there is despair, hope.  Where there is darkness, light.  And where there is sadness,  Joy.  Oh Lord grant that I might not seek to be consoled as to console. To be understood as to understand, to be loved as to love.  For it is in the giving that we receive, in the pardoning that we are pardoned, it is in the dying that we are born unto eternal life.  Amen And now as our Lord has taught us we are bold to pray... Our Father who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name, thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven, give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our tresspasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not unto temptation, but deliver us from evil, for thine is the Kingdom and the power and the glory forever. Amen. Loving God, we give you thanks for restoring us in your image. And nourishing us with spiritual food, now send us forth as forgiven people, healed and renewed, that we may proclaim your love to the world, and continue in the risen life of Christ.  Amen.  OUR WEBSITE: www.dailyradiobible.com We are reading through the New Living Translation.   Leave us a voicemail HERE: https://www.speakpipe.com/dailyradiobible Subscribe to us at YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/@Dailyradiobible/featured OTHER PODCASTS: Listen with Apple Podcast DAILY BIBLE FOR KIDS DAILY PSALMS DAILY PROVERBS DAILY LECTIONARY DAILY CHRONOLOGICAL

Gospel Matthew 13:47-53 Jesus said to the disciples: "The Kingdom of heaven is like a net thrown into the sea, which collects fish of every kind. They answered, "Yes." And he replied, "Then every scribe who has been instructed in the Kingdom of heaven is like the head of a household who brings from his storeroom both the new and the old." When Jesus finished these parables, he went away from there. Reflection This parable makes it clear that the plan of God is ultimately that one day evil will be destroyed. It is the thing that creates pain, suffering, death, destruction. But he also is reminding us in this passage that there is something about learning wisdom, about understanding what is really revealed to us from God. And some of its in the Old Testament, which was a kind of exclusive religion. And the law was what was at the heart of it. And then there is the New Testament, where it's a it's an inclusive religion, and it's all about not the law, but about forgiveness and understanding. Which is right? They're both right. That's the key. Live in the paradox. Closing Prayer Father, our hope is always wrapped in your promises. Convince us of the meaning of this parable so that we can believe with you that you are engaged in the work of saving all of us, bringing us all into a new, wonderful earth. Do you work to live…or live to work? For many, the answer is simple: “I work to make a living.”But what if there's more to work than just earning a paycheck? Could it be that work holds deeper meaning—something essential to who we are and how we're made? David Bahnsen joins us today to offer a perspective on work you might not have considered.David Bahnsen is the Founder, Managing Partner, and Chief Investment Officer of The Bahnsen Group, a national private wealth management firm managing over $7 billion in client assets. He is a frequent guest on CNBC, Bloomberg, Fox News, and Fox Business. He is also the author of Full Time: Work and the Meaning of Life. Rethinking Work and IdentityWe live in a world that often tells us our identity has nothing to do with our work. Unfortunately, that idea has not only crept into culture but also into the church. But let's be honest: that's simply not true. Our identity is tied to our work—not in the sense that a job title defines us, but because we are made in the image of a working God.We all instinctively know this. We don't look at someone who is contributing meaningfully to society and compare them equally to someone who spends every day in idleness. That's not about transactional worth—it's about reflecting the nature of our Creator. God created us to be productive, useful, and active. That's not a controversial claim. It's Genesis 1. Work isn't all of who we are, but it is a vital part of who we were created to be.Too often, we treat faith like an add-on. We make decisions about money, career, education, even family, and then sprinkle a few Bible verses on top. But the goal isn't to balance faith and work—it's to integrate them. That begins by grounding our understanding of work in a creational theology: God made work good. What we need in the church is not more dichotomy between sacred and secular, but an integrated vision that sees every good job—yes, even spreadsheets, sales, and software—as part of God's design. This mindset shift must begin in our pulpits. Our congregations need to hear that their Monday through Friday labor is not second-tier spiritual activity. It is sacred. The Relationship Between Work and RestInstead of chasing a “work-life balance,” Scripture offers a “work-rest paradigm.” God modeled six days of work followed by one day of rest—not the other way around. The purpose of rest isn't to escape work; it's to be restored for more of it. Rest has meaning because work has meaning. That's why we push back on the cultural narrative that says rest, leisure, and early retirement are life's ultimate goals. While rest is essential, its purpose is to equip us to return to the good, God-glorifying work He's called us to do.Culture often treats retirement as the finish line—an end to productivity, as if people cease to offer value once they reach a certain age. But that view is deeply flawed. We must challenge the financial industry's narrative that the goal is to accumulate enough so that we never have to work again. That mindset undermines the dignity and purpose of work. Yes, physical limitations may alter what work looks like in later years, but wisdom, experience, and the capacity to contribute remain. Companies and churches alike lose something precious when they usher older workers out instead of tapping into their gifts.Job, Career, or Calling? So, how should we think about our work? Is it just a job? A stepping stone? Or something more?Every Christian, no matter their vocation, should view their work as a calling. That doesn't mean God gives us a divine word about every job transition, but it does mean that the act of producing goods and services, solving problems, and serving others is inherently meaningful. That's our calling: to work with excellence, for the good of others, and the glory of God.To young adults wondering what to do with their lives: Don't believe the lie that you need to find your dream job tomorrow. Instead, embrace the next opportunity in front of you with excellence, humility, and a long-term view.Work is not just a means to a paycheck. It's how we serve our neighbors, develop skills, build character, and participate in God's ongoing work in the world. Some jobs may be stepping stones—but every job matters. The key is to remember the why behind your work: it's about loving God and loving others. Here's the truth: work isn't something we do just to meet our needs. It's something we do because God made us to work. He worked in creation, and He continues to work in redemption. When we work, we join Him in that sacred task—creating, restoring, cultivating, and contributing to human flourishing. Our work builds families, economies, culture—and yes, even the Kingdom of God.On Today's Program, Rob Answers Listener Questions:I recently retired and now work part-time delivering food for a restaurant using my personal vehicle. Am I allowed to deduct mileage, gas, or other vehicle expenses when I file my income taxes? My son is having a hard time covering his business expenses and has turned to several payday loans just to stay afloat. Friends of the Rosary,Today, July 31, is the Memorial of St. Ignatius of Loyola (1491-1556).With nine companions—Francis Xavier, among them—Ignatius formed the Jesuits, a society for the service of Jesus, that embarked on missionary activities, the establishment of colleges and universities, and counter-Reformation preaching. The motto of the Company of Jesus: Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam—“For the greater glory of God.”Born in the Kingdom of Navarre, in Spain, after a wayward youth, Ignatius converted in his early thirties. He sought penance and solitude in Manresa, Spain, near Barcelona, where he began to compose his Spiritual Exercises. While he was convalescing, after a cannonball fractured his left leg at the siege of Pamplona, Ignatius read about Christ and His saints and thus turned wholly to God. He then equipped himself for Christ's service by acquiring a good classical and theological education. The members of the Society of Jesus became the shock troops of the Church in the battle against the spread of Protestantism in Europe, as well as one of the greatest foreign mission organizations that the world has known.Ignatius ever desired to suffer far more for the glory of his Lord.According to several pontiffs, God raised up Ignatius and the Society founded by him to oppose Luther and the heretics of his time.He devoted himself unweariedly to gaining souls for God. His power over the demons was wonderful. St. Philip Neri and others saw his countenance shining with heavenly light. He was celebrated for miracles and for his great services to the Church.Pius XI, in response to the prayers of the episcopate, declared him the heavenly patron of all Spiritual Exercises.Ave Maria!Jesus, I Trust In You!Come, Holy Spirit, come!To Jesus through Mary! Here I am, Lord; I come to do your will. Please give us the grace to respond with joy!+ Mikel Amigot w/ María Blanca | RosaryNetwork.com, New YorkEnhance your faith with the new Holy Rosary University app:Apple iOS | New! Today, we're taking you behind the scenes of the Conclave Conference in Texas, where next generation ministry leaders from across the country gathered to learn, grow, and be challenged in their callings. In this episode, our conversation centers around something deeply relevant to every church leader: understanding and reaching the next generation—and the pivotal role that kids ministry leaders play in doing just that. Here's the truth: kids ministry leaders are some of the most strategic leaders in the entire church. Why? Because they reach every generation—kids, parents, grandparents, volunteers—and they're shaping the spiritual foundation of our future leaders right now. But if we want to truly reach today's kids, we have to start by understanding how they see the world. In this episode, Jana Magruder shares a timely and powerful message about generational differences, cultural pressures, and how we can train kids not just to be good—but to be reachers for the Kingdom.Jana helps us unpack the critical importance of teaching a counter-cultural gospel message—one that boldly tells kids who God is and who they are in Him. As she explains, kids today are growing up in a world that bombards them with confusion around identity and belonging. But the church has the answer—and it starts in the kids ministry. Whether you're leading in a small church or a large ministry, this episode will inspire you to think deeply, lead strategically, and invest boldly in the next generation. If you found this conversation helpful, please rate and review the show on your favorite podcast platform—it helps us reach even more ministry leaders like you. Read Online“Do you understand all these things?” They answered, “Yes.” And he replied, “Then every scribe who has been instructed in the Kingdom of heaven is like the head of a household who brings from his storeroom both the new and the old.” Matthew 13:51–52At times, Jesus' words are difficult to understand. How well do you understand what He teaches you? He often teaches in figures of speech, as well as with parables. The passage quoted above concludes a section in which He speaks three subsequent parables. The third of these parables, the parable about the fishnet, is contained in the beginning of today's Gospel passage. But just prior to that parable are the parables about the pearl of great price and the treasure buried in a field. Upon the conclusion of these three parables, Jesus asked His disciples, “Do you understand all these things?” After they affirmed that they did understand, Jesus gave an overview of the mission to which they had been entrusted. These soon-to-be bishops would become the new scribes who were instructed in the Kingdom of Heaven. Their mission would be to bring forth both the “new and the old.”Many Church Fathers identify the “new and the old” as a reference to the Old Testament and the New Testament. Thus, the Twelve are being entrusted with the mission of being the scribes of the full revelation contained in what will become the full Bible as we have it today. Other commentators suggest that the “old” refers to the old life of sin and the “new” refers to the new life of grace. It will be the mission of the Twelve to instruct people in the full Gospel message, so as to draw them from their old life of sin to the new life of grace.Though Jesus' words can be difficult to understand from the perspective of a biblical scholar, the first of His words quoted above are very straightforward. “Do you understand all these things?” As we ponder that question in particular, try to hear our Lord asking that question of you. Though many scholars and saints of old have offered much clarity on what Jesus' teachings actually mean, the question that Jesus posed to the Twelve must be answered in a more personal way for each of us. As you hear Jesus ask you if you understand these things, the answer you give is not primarily based upon whether or not you have sufficiently studied the text of His teaching and can rationally explain it as a scholar. Instead, the answer He is seeking is whether or not you can respond from faith. He wants you to say, “Yes, I hear You speaking to me, Lord. Yes, my heart is convicted by the words You have spoken. Yes, I understand what I must do. Yes, Lord, I believe.” The Word of God is alive and can only be “understood” properly when we allow our Living Lord to speak to us, personally, as we listen to His holy Word.Reflect, today, upon this question that Jesus posed to the Twelve. As you do, hear Him asking you this question. How fully do you understand what God is saying to you, right now at this moment in your life? As you read the Scriptures, do you sense God revealing Himself to you? Do you understand what He wants of you? If hearing the voice of God is a challenge at times, then spend more time prayerfully pondering His holy Word so that His Living Voice will more clearly resonate within your soul.My revealing Lord, You speak to me day and night, continuously revealing Your love and mercy to me. May I learn to become more attentive to Your voice speaking within the depths of my soul. As I hear You speak, please give me the gift of understanding to know Your will and to embrace it with all my heart. Redemption E8 — Both in his public ministry and sacrificial death, Jesus redeems people from humanity's cosmic “pharaohs,” the Satan, sin, and death. Jesus' miracles show more clearly how this redemption works, but he says very little about how his death serves as a redemption. In fact, the most substantial thing we get is his symbolic body and blood language during the Last Supper Passover meal. And even this still feels cryptic! Later in the New Testament, one writer offers much more explanation on how Jesus' death works to redeem people. In this episode, Jon and Tim explore the letter to the Romans, where the Apostle Paul crafts a detailed explanation of how Jesus joins with us in death to transfer us from the domain of death into his Kingdom of life.CHAPTERSRecap and Setup for the Apostle Paul (0:00-15:09)Paul's Condensed Redemption Story (15:09-22:03)A Gift of Redemption in Romans 3 (22:03-44:21)The Transfer from Death to Life in Romans 6 (44:21-58:34)OFFICIAL EPISODE TRANSCRIPTView this episode's official transcript.REFERENCED RESOURCESYou can view annotations for this episode—plus our entire library of videos, podcasts, articles, and classes—in the BibleProject app, available for Android and iOS.Check out Tim's extensive collection of recommended books here.SHOW MUSIC“Mist Of Blessing ft.
