It can become a catalyst to cultivate a lifestyle of intentional, joy-filled stewardship all year long.Today, we explore how to give with both heart and wisdom—so that our generosity reflects God's purposes, not merely the moment. Joining the conversation is Al Mueller, founder and CEO of Excellence in Giving and former executive with Morgan Stanley and UBS.Beyond the Moment: What Giving Tuesday Really RepresentsFor Al Mueller, Giving Tuesday is more than a charitable trend—it's an invitation.“Giving Tuesday is a great opportunity to begin acting on generosity,” he says, “but it's also a moment to pause and align with God's purposes.” Al reminds us of Paul's words in 2 Corinthians 9:7: “Each one must give as he has decided in his heart… for God loves a cheerful giver.”In other words, generosity is more than an impulse. Just as you wouldn't build a house without plans, you shouldn't fund ministry without clarity.A Growing Trend: Collaborative GivingOne of the most exciting developments in philanthropy today is collaborative giving—donors pooling resources to make a larger, more strategic impact.Pooling resources:Helps ministries secure larger grantsReduces duplicationSaves ministries' valuable timeStrengthens unity within the body of Christ“This model lets donors and ministries accomplish something bigger together,” Al explains.No donor wants to micromanage, and no ministry seeks to be controlled. But accountability doesn't mean control—it means clarity.Al puts it this way: “Accountability is information given, not control taken.”Trust grows when ministries offer clear plans, measurable results, and honest reporting—what Al calls “a form of blessing” to donors.The Next Generation of GiversYounger donors give differently than their parents do. At nine years old watching a presidential debate, Shefali Razdan Duggal realized something: in America, a peanut farmer and the son of divorced parents could become president. Her mother was cutting vegetables at night, working as a seamstress by day. Politics became the path to help people like her mother. Decades later, she became the first person of color to serve as U.S. Ambassador to the Netherlands, where the Dutch named a fuchsia-pink tulip after her, the first ambassador from any country ever honored this way. But the journey between that childhood revelation and diplomatic triumph involved a different calculation entirely. "Women of color have to work four times as hard," Shefali states. Her response wasn't resentment—it was a choice. She calls it "weed whacking" for the people behind her. While serving 90-hour weeks, she operated from what she calls "complete and utter equality" with her entire embassy staff. The result? Her Marines ranked as one of the best detachments in Europe. Her embassy became one of the best-run on the continent. And when women of color visited the ambassador wall and saw her photo next to John Adams, they would start crying. In this conversation, Shefali explains why ego kills opportunities faster than anything else, how she managed crushing stress without punishing anyone around her, and what happens when you choose to "do something" instead of "be someone." John 1:1–18. To finish strong, we return to the beginning. John reveals Jesus as the eternal Word who became flesh and gives a new identity to all who receive Him. Minister to Married Young Adults and The4 Venue Pastor, Brad Talbert, explores the four types of hearts that receive God's word differently revealed in Jesus' parable of the sower. The hard heart has no room for spiritual truth to penetrate. The shallow heart receives God's word with initial joy but falls away when difficulties arise. The crowded heart allows worries and material concerns to choke out spiritual growth. The fruitful heart hears, understands, and responds to God's word, producing abundant spiritual fruit. Rather than representing different types of people, these hearts reflect our spiritual condition in different seasons of life.

He was a Galilean of the tribe of Simeon. The Old Testament book that bears his name foretells the destruction of Nineveh, the capital of Assyria, by the Medes, and the restoration of the Kingdom of Judah; all of this came to pass. Nahum is counted as the seventh of the Minor Prophets. He reposed in peace. His name means 'consolation' or 'repose.'   Five of the Prophets (Nahum, Habbakuk, Zephaniah, Haggai, and Daniel) are commemorated in December. At one time a Feast of the Twelve Prophets was celebrated on December 4 at the Church of the Resurrection, but this feast is no longer on the calendar. The days leading up to Christ's Nativity contain many commemorations of the faithful remnant of Israel, all of whose hopes were fulfilled in the birth of the Messiah.

Gospel Matthew 8:5-11 When Jesus entered Capernaum, a centurion approached him and appealed to him, saying, "Lord, my servant is lying at home paralyzed, suffering dreadfully." He said to him, "I will come and cure him." The centurion said in reply, "Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed. For I too am a man subject to authority, with soldiers subject to me. And I say to one, 'Go,' and he goes; and to another, 'Come here,' and he comes; and to my slave, 'Do this,' and he does it." When Jesus heard this, he was amazed and said to those following him, "Amen, I say to you, in no one in Israel have I found such faith. I say to you, many will come from the east and the west, and will recline with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob at the banquet in the Kingdom of heaven.” Reflection What strikes me in this reading is the words. He was amazed. There's one other time in the scriptures that Jesus is amazed and it's a negative. And the other one, it is simply the fact that he looked at the neighbors and his friends that he grew up with, and when the he described who he was, they were absolutely super closed. Could not fathom it. This ordinary man could be something more than what he seems to be. In this case, it's someone has got an understanding, a clear understanding of the way the world works. The centurion was fully conscious of a system. When there is authority and when his authority over others, they tell them what to do. And they must respond. They do respond. That's the way the system works. That's always asking of those that listen to Jesus. Just understand this is how it works. God can do what he promises. Trust in him. Believe in him and it will lead to fullness, transformation, awakening. Full consciousness. Please take a moment to reflect and then I'll close with the prayer. Closing Prayer Father, it's interesting how many things and how many situations have taught us certain things. In some of the things that we've learned, we have to unlearn. We have to let go of. And so please, if there is anything it is that doesn't believe that Jesus can do what he promises. Free us from that. Free us so that we can receive and drink of his healing power. Jesus praises the faith of the pagan centurion, teaching that many from east and west will recline with Abraham in the Kingdom (cf. Mt 8:11). This isn't sentimental pluralism—it's the mystery of a God whose grace cannot be confined, even as He has entrusted the fullness of truth to His Church.The Catechism affirms that the Church possesses the “fullness of the means of salvation” (CCC 816), yet also acknowledges that elements of truth and goodness in other religions ultimately come from Christ, the one Way, Truth, and Life (Jn 14:6). As St. John Paul II taught, actual graces can move any soul toward virtue, awakening the conscience and preparing the heart for deeper conversion.But this does not lessen our missionary call. Every person deserves the fullness of truth—the sacraments, the Eucharist, the tender strength of Our Lady, and the saving intimacy of Jesus Christ. “Go, therefore, and make disciples” remains a command of love. And as Fr. Daniel reminds us, judgment considers not only what we have done, but what we have been given. Those who reject the Gospel after receiving much will be accountable for more.In the end, God's mercy is vast, but truth is not relative. https://wels2.blob.core.windows.net/daily-devotions/20251201dev.mp3 Listen to Devotion “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me.” Ezekiel 3:17 Watch and Warn We have all experienced those moments when we see danger approaching and feel an urgent need to warn others, “Watch out!” we shout. Perhaps a car backed up too quickly, or a child reached for something hot on the stove. In such situations, remaining silent would not just be wrong, but also unkind. This is the image God gave to the prophet Ezekiel. He was chosen to be a “watchman”—someone who remains vigilant and alerts people when trouble is near. However, the warning Ezekiel was to give was far more serious than damaged bumpers or burnt fingers. It concerned sin and its consequences. God called Ezekiel to deliver both hard truths and healing words. Although we are not prophets like Ezekiel, we share the same responsibility: to warn others and to bear witness. This calling can feel intimidating. Sometimes we keep silent because we are afraid of offending or uncertain about what to say. Thankfully, Jesus never chose silence. He spoke the hard truth to those who were proud and offered gentle words to those who were hurting. He warned about the reality of sin and called people to turn back to God. Even when people didn’t listen, Jesus did not walk away. He went to the cross. Jesus bore the punishment for sin so that we would not have to. He rose again to give us new life. Today, by his Word, the Spirit works in us to be loving and courageous watchmen for those around us. You do not need a loudspeaker or a pulpit to be a watchman. You just need the gospel—the good news of a Savior who came for sinners like us. This Advent, listen for the coming footsteps of Jesus and lovingly let others know that he is on his way. Prayer: Lord Jesus, thank you for speaking the truth in love and for taking my sin to the cross. Make me bold and gentle to speak your truth to those around me. Amen. Yesterday was the first Sunday in advent. Advent is the church season leading up to Christmas that's all about expectation, waiting, and preparation. It's a time to focus on the coming of the King and his Kingdom into the world. It's a time to think about how God through his mercy and grace is restoring the world we've broken to its original purpose and glory through Jesus Christ. Sadly, its such a busy time of preparation for meals, gatherings, decorating, and gift-giving that the real meaning of Christmas gets lost in the rush. Let me encourage you to start slowly and keep moving slowly through the season of advent this year. Focus less on the doing, and more on the waiting. Each one of us, including our kids, needs God to burst into our life to do for us what we in no way can do for ourselves. Salvation, redemption, and new life come through Christ alone. It's not earned or deserved. This year, talk to your kids about advent. Then, wait with great expectation and celebrate the King with great joy!

We have a mission! A peaceful, compassionate, healing, restorative mission. That mission is to call our nation back to the Living God and the glory of His Son, Jesus! This is our mandate from Heaven. Our Christian ancestors came here “for the Glory of God and advancement of the Christian Faith…”(Mayflower Compact 1620). We are far from finished in this mission. The recent assassination and martyrdom of Charlie Kirk has shaken us and awakened us to our mission from Heaven to disciple our nation for Christ. What does it really mean to follow Jesus in our world shaped by self-promotion, comfort, and convenience? In Philippians 2, we're invited into a radically different way – the way of Christ, who laid everything down in humility, obedience, and love. Today's Gospel presents us with the profound faith of a Roman centurion—a pagan and Gentile. Though not of the Jewish faith, this centurion recognized Jesus' spiritual authority to heal. Perhaps he had seen Jesus do so before or had heard of the many stories of miracles. Or maybe he was moved by the Holy Spirit to trust in Jesus. The Roman soldier begged Jesus to heal one of his severely ill servants. But that's not all he did. Once Jesus offered to go to the servant, the Roman centurion manifested humility and faith by saying, “Lord, I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof; only say the word and my servant will be healed.” Catholics now pray similar words just before Holy Communion.When Jesus heard this statement of faith, He was “amazed,” because among the descendants of Abraham, He had found no such faith. The centurion's faith broke through cultural and religious barriers. As a Gentile and a Roman soldier, he was an unlikely candidate for such profound faith. Yet, his humility and trust in Jesus surpassed that of many of the chosen people.Let's consider two points from this story. First, when you pray the centurion's words at Mass, just before Holy Communion, does your depth of faith and conviction also lead Jesus to be “amazed”? Do you know and profess your unworthiness, yet beg our Lord to enter your soul nonetheless? The centurion's humility is a powerful lesson for us. Despite his authority and status, he recognized his unworthiness before Jesus. This humility is vital to approaching the Eucharist, acknowledging our need for God's grace and mercy before receiving Him into our souls. Consider whether you mean those words every time you pray them or if they have become a habit that you say distractedly.Second, Jesus' promise to heal this Gentile's servant illustrates the universality of Jesus' gift of salvation. Our Catholic faith is not only for those born and raised Catholic; it's for everyone, and we must do our part to extend that invitation to everyone through prayer and witness. We must turn to our Lord and beg for grace and healing upon others. God has the power to do all things. Like the centurion, we must pray for others, trusting that God hears our petitions and will act in His perfect timing. We must believe that, and then present the needs of those around us to Him, begging Him to draw them to Himself. We must pray, “Lord, only say the word! Say Your word of healing, cleansing, conversion, transformation, and every word that brings forth Your will!”Reflect today on this Roman centurion's faith and prayerful words and try to internalize them more fully. Meditate on those words outside of the Holy Mass so that next time you attend Mass, that prayer just before Holy Communion will more fully prepare your soul for the gift of Christ Jesus Himself.My amazed Lord, the Roman centurion's faith touched Your human soul. Please give me the grace I need to have this same depth of faith and to express that faith more fully every time I prepare to receive You in Holy Communion. TODAY'S DEVOTION: Join the expedition. Paul is taking us on a beautiful, epic, amazing expedition. On a visit to Moses and Abraham. Paul says that they both point us to the Gospel of grace. Moses and the prophets show us a way to be made right with God. And it's not about keeping the law, which is completely contrary to what most people thought during his time. He wasn't trying to make us law abiding people. He was seeking to make humanity new with the laws that are written inside of our hearts. Not law abiding people, but God abiding people. And it's kind of the same today. So many Christians still think that it's about becoming law abiding. When the Gospel clearly proclaims that it is God who has come to abide with us in order that he might make us all new people. This is how God has made us right with himself. He's done the whole thing. Paul had an encounter with the person of Jesus and that changed everything. After meeting Jesus, he never read the Bible the same again. So that's my prayer for us every day when we come to the Scriptures. That we might encounter the God of love. The God who's come to us just as we are, to reveal Himself to us just as he is—full of grace and full of truth. And the prayer of my own heart today is that as we go on this adventure of faith, that as we look into the scriptures, we'll be able to see exactly what they're saying, that they are not the point. Moses and the prophets are not the point, but they do indeed point us to the source of life, the one alone who has made us right with the Father. That's the prayer that I have for my own soul. And that's the prayer that I have for my family. And that's the prayer that I have for you, dear friend. May it be so. TODAY'S PRAYERS: Lord God Almighty and everlasting father you have brought us in safety to this new day preserve us with your Mighty power that we might not fall into sin or be overcome by adversity. And in all we do, direct us to the fulfilling of your purpose  through Jesus Christ Our Lord amen.   Oh God you have made of one blood all the peoples of the earth and sent your blessed son to preach peace to those who are far and those who are near. In this message, Pastor Brandon walks through Matthew 7:7 to 29 and explains how Jesus ends the Sermon on the Mount with a sobering reality. There are only two paths, two gates, two trees, two fruits, two teachers, two prophets, two voices, and two foundations. Every person must choose. Jesus contrasts true discipleship with counterfeit spirituality and warns that outward religion without inward obedience will collapse when judgment comes. This passage not only warns unbelievers about salvation, it also calls believers to choose obedience, discernment, and a life built on God's standard rather than the world's. Jesus invites His followers to enter the narrow gate, walk the difficult road of discipleship, reject false teaching, and build their lives on the solid rock of His Word. Pastor Brandon also shows how these contrasts fit into the broader Kingdom program.
