He explains that through Christ, Christians have died to the Old Law and are no longer bound by its demands, enabling them to bear fruit for God. The law itself is not sinful, but it reveals sin, emphasizing man's inability to achieve righteousness on his own. Paul shares his personal struggle, acknowledging the inner conflict between his desire to do good and the sin that too often resides within him. This tension exemplifies the human condition: even with a desire to obey God, sin remains a problem. If justification depends on perfectly adhering to the Law of Moses or any law, then there would be no hope. But “thanks be to God through Jesus Christ our Lord!” Marriage illustrates that God's laws, be it matrimony, Moses's Law, or the law of conscience, bind for life. However, death severs this bond, allowing union with another. We should thank God daily for Jesus' death, which frees us from the burden of law and unites us with Him. No law apart from Christ—whether the law of Moses or Gentile morality—can save us, as we all fail to keep the law perfectly. While Christ's law does exist, our justification comes through grace, not perfect obedience. This truth is crucial as we continually wrestle with sin. Like Paul, we often stumble in frustrating, repeated ways. This struggle should deepen our thankfulness for Jesus, where forgiveness and hope are found. Dear Lord, we praise You for the freedom bestowed upon us through Your Son, Jesus Christ. Thank You for liberating us from the burden of law. None of us can perfectly uphold any law, and without Christ, there would be no hope of redemption for our sins. We honor You for redeeming us in Him and guiding us to follow His will and produce fruit of gratitude for You. Father, we mourn our sins. Too often, we wish to obey but still find ourselves falling short. Thank You for freeing us from the penalty of our failures through Jesus.  Thought Questions: -       Paul uses marriage as an example of the life-long intent of law. Does this principle of honoring marriage for life still hold today? -       Does redemption from the burden of the law mean we now have no law? Why must we still “bear fruit for God” in Christ's church?  -       Do you know the misery of choosing sin in the flesh when your spirit only wants to do right? How does Christ help you through such times?

The kings of Israel have fallen so far from the way of life that the Lord had called them to follow, that by this point they are completely unrecognizable from the nations around them. As we read, notice that as the kings move further away from the Lord and his statutes, the more violent, unpredictable, and selfish they become. While Judah's kings continuously neglect the high places of idol worship, most of them still continue to serve God themselves. This week we conclude our series based on Charles Spurgeon's pamphlet Feed My Lambs. In these final segments, Spurgeon gives us three admonitions: remember whom you are teaching, remember that you are teaching on behalf of God, and remember that your children need this teaching. Keeping these things in mind will be a help in both preparing and in teaching theological matter to children. Spurgeon likens teaching children to the responsibility of ministers. He says we must bear the weight of the reality that children will accept what we teach them, even if what we teach is incorrect. They are not educated enough to correct us if we misspeak a truth. They cannot choose a different Sunday school teacher if we are not careful enough. They will often adopt what we say as gospel truth and may hold those truths for the remainder of their lives. So remember who is accepting our teaching, but also remember that we are given the opportunity to teach by God Himself. He has placed us in positions to teach and we should take it as a weighty privilege. Lastly, if we see the need in our children to teach them truth, we will be moved to study deeply and think with focus on how best to convey these truths to them. We pray this episode, and indeed this series, is helpful to you. Please share it with your Sunday school teachers to edify them in their work for the Lord with children. We need to be intentional about getting ourselves ready to date and eventually start a family. Here's how: 1. Grow biblically 2. Live sacrificially 3. Assume responsibility We also need clarity on what we're looking for—alignment in faith, family values, and a shared vision for the future. The Bible gives us a framework for recognizing a godly spouse, especially through passages like John 29 and Proverbs 31. We were encouraged not to rush into dating. Take time to really get to know someone—talk to their friends, observe their character, and seek God's wisdom. And most importantly, stay open to what the Lord may bring. The history of God's people continues with the reign of Amaziah in Judah and Jeroboam II in Israel. When Amaziah secures the throne in Judah, he follows the LORD's Word in dealing with the conspiracy that ended his father's life. As Amaziah finds some military success during his reign, he foolishly picks a fight with the king of Israel, and the king of Israel takes Amaziah captive and plunders Jerusalem. May it never be! How shall we who die to sin still live in it?” Through baptism, believers unite with Christ in His death and resurrection, representing the death of their old sinful selves and their rebirth into a life dedicated to God. Becoming new in Christ demands that sin no longer reign over the body. The members of the Christian's body become instruments of righteousness, reclaimed by God to carry out His good will in this world. Once slaves to sin and subject to death, believers become slaves of righteousness, resulting in sanctification and eternal life. “For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Grace is never an excuse for sin. God forgives those who repent, but to willfully sin is to distort His grace. In baptism, we are buried with Christ, united with Him, and raised to a new life through His power. This is wonderful news! However, we also die to our old selves, putting to death the body of sin as we are made alive in Jesus. Our bodies are renewed and repurposed for God's intentions. Once slaves to sin, we now live indebted to God, enslaved to righteousness. Many will not commit to God, wanting to claim their lives as their own. But everyone belongs to either sin leading to death or God leading to eternal life. Choose wisely. Gracious God, thank You for freeing us from the bondage of sin through Jesus Christ. Help us to live united with Him in His death and resurrection, leaving behind our old ways and walking in the newness of life. Empower us to resist sin and to offer ourselves fully to You as instruments of righteousness. Open doors of Christ-like service for us today. Remind us daily that we are no longer slaves to sin but are servants of Your grace, secured now and forever. Romans 1:16-17 — In the sermon “The Power… unto Salvation,” Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones continues his series on Romans 1:16–17 and shows why Paul was not ashamed of the gospel of Jesus Christ. Read OnlineWhen Jesus finished these words, the crowds were astonished at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority, and not as their scribes. Matthew 7:28–29These lines conclude the Sermon on the Mount found in Matthew's Gospel chapters 5–7. In that lengthy sermon, Jesus touches on many topics and presents us with a summary of all we need to know in our lives of faith. In these concluding lines of His sermon, the words “astonished” and “authority” should stand out. Why were the crowds astonished at Jesus' teaching? Because His teaching was new and relied upon a new authority that the people hadn't experienced before.The authority with which the scribes taught was based upon their knowledge of the traditions handed down to them from earlier teachers. The scribes studied long and hard and then presented what they had learned. This was the form of religious teaching that the people were used to receiving.Jesus, however, arrived on the scene and astonished the crowds, because He spoke with a new authority that they had not seen before. Jesus' authority came forth from His very Person. It was not based upon what He had studied and learned from those who preceded Him. Instead, when He spoke, it was He Himself Who was not only the mouthpiece of the New Law of grace, He was also the Author of the Law and its source.Try to ponder the idea of authority. For example, a child knows that a parent has authority over them. They may not like it at times, but they understand that they do not set the rules of the house but must abide by the rules set by their parents. Or consider the authority of civil leaders. Law enforcement officers, for example, have an authority entrusted to them by their office. They are not only well versed in the rule of law, they can also enforce it and everyone knows it.Similarly, Jesus did not just know about the new and glorious truths He taught. He did not simply learn them from the Father in Heaven and then pass them on verbally. Instead, when He taught, He did so as the One Who knew the New Law of grace, the One from Whom it originated, and the one and only Person sent to enact and enforce this New Law.Reflect, today, upon the New Law of grace and mercy taught by our Lord, especially as it is contained in the lengthy Sermon on the Mount. Reading those words is much more than something we study and learn. The words themselves are alive; they are the Word of God. Reading them makes present to us the same authority that the crowds experienced in Jesus' time. Everything Jesus taught was and is new, deep, profound, transforming and alive. And when He teaches it, He also establishes His divine authority to enforce it upon the world. This is good news, because His New Law is not an imposition; it is the one and only source of freedom and new life.Reflect upon this New Law of our Lord and pray that you will more fully come under its authority. My glorious Lawgiver, You taught as One with authority. Today, as Your holy Word is read and proclaimed, You continue to exercise Your new and glorious authority of love and mercy. Please help me to listen to You and to always submit myself to Your authority so that I am governed by Your New Law of grace. I believe in the imminent return of Christ, meaning I believe Jesus could come back at any time. Today could be the day of Christ's return. Today could be the day of the rapture of the church. Are you ready for Jesus to come back? Are you living like Jesus is coming back today?Main Points:1.  Let me remind you that Jesus is indeed coming back. Scripture foretold the birth of Jesus, and it was fulfilled. The Bible described the death and resurrection of Christ, and it happened as the prophecy foretold. Likewise, the Scripture has promised the return of Jesus. The God who has spoken will fulfill His Word.2. So, what does it mean to live like Jesus is coming back? It means being prepared. It means living with our hearts on God and his will for our lives. It means being focused on the work He has called us to do. Living like Jesus is coming back at any time causes us to live sober lives. It calls us to live in holiness and righteousness.3. Jesus is coming back, and He is coming back soon. Are you ready? “That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, ‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him.’” (1 Corinthians 2:9 NLT) The difference between the way God understands the future and the way we understand the future is much like the difference between an artist’s understanding of a blank canvas and our understanding of a blank canvas. The artist looks at the canvas, takes out a pencil, draws a couple of broad strokes, and then looks at it again. We walk up and ask, “What is that?” When the artist tells us, we say, “Well, it doesn’t look like that to us.” But the artist confidently remarks, “It’s coming along. It’s a work in progress. I have a vision, a plan.” The artist is thinking about the end result, even though he’s drawn only a couple of seemingly meaningless strokes. Often, we look at our unfinished lives in the same way we might look at that canvas. Things may not be going as expected. Life may not be progressing according to our schedule. So we say, “The Lord must have forgotten about me. The Lord has abandoned me. It’s over.” But we’re not forgotten or abandoned. And it’s not over. The Lord has a vision for your life. He has a plan. You’re a work in progress. You’re under construction. God isn’t finished with you yet. We see merely the beginning. God sees the end from the beginning. We see a blank canvas. God sees a masterpiece in progress. Take heart. The apostle Paul was quoting Isaiah 64:4 when he wrote, “That is what the Scriptures mean when they say, ‘No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has imagined what God has prepared for those who love him’” (1 Corinthians 2:9 NLT). We don’t have the tools to see in ourselves what God sees in us. So we must put our faith in Him. That’s what Paul was doing when he wrote in Philippians 1:6, “And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns” (NLT). We look at the broad strokes of God’s work in our lives and see only randomness. We can’t fathom how they might be connected or built on to create something more substantial. We convince ourselves that there’s no way a work of art, let alone a masterpiece, can come from them. But look at Paul’s words in Romans 8:28: “And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them” (nlt). You may not see how everything in your life can work together for good, but God does. So the wisest course of action is to follow the advice of Proverbs 3:5: “Trust in the lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding” (NLT). Don’t fret if you can’t make sense of the work in progress in your life. Trust the Artist. Reflection question: What evidence do you see of God’s work in your life? (Adam@TheWorldview.com) By Jonathan Clark and Adam McManus 313 attacks on Christians in India this year The United Christian Forum has recorded 313 attacks on Christians in India during the first five months of this year. That's over two attacks per day, a trend that has held since 2023. Attacks have risen significantly since 2014 when only 127 incidents were recorded A. C. Michael with United Christian Forum warned, “If this trend is not stopped immediately, it will threaten the identity and existence of the Indian Christian community in its motherland.” Please pray for the persecuted church in India. The country is ranked 11th on the Open Doors' World Watch List of the most difficult countries to be a Christian.  80% of young French Protestants optimistic about future The Protestant Federation of France released a survey of young Protestants in the country.  Seventy-seven percent of respondents cited the Bible as their primary source of spiritual information ahead of other sources like discussion groups and digital content. Eighty percent of these young Protestants in France are optimistic about the future compared to 58% of 15 to 30-year-olds nationally. Researchers noted that young Protestants view their faith as not just a personal but also a public commitment.  1 Timothy 4:12 says, “Let no one despise your youth, but be an example to the believers in word, in conduct, in love, in spirit, in faith, in purity.” Netanyahu commends President Trump for bombing Iran's nuclear sites Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu commended President Donald Trump for authorizing the June 22nd “Operation Midnight Hammer” which led to America's bombing of Iranian nuclear sites NETANYAHU: “Congratulations President Trump! Your bold decision to target Iran's nuclear facilities with the awesome and righteous might of the United States will change history. “In Operation Rising Lion, Israel has done truly amazing things. But in tonight's action against Iran's nuclear facilities, America has been truly unsurpassed. It has done what no other country on Earth could do. “History will record that President Trump acted to deny the world's most dangerous regime, the world's most dangerous weapons. His leadership today has created a pivot of history that can help lead the Middle East and beyond to a future of prosperity and peace. “President Trump and I often say, ‘Peace through strength!' First comes strength, then comes peace.” U.S. strike set back Iran's nuclear program by only a few months The New York Times reports that a preliminary classified U.S. report says the American bombing of three nuclear sites in Iran set back the country's nuclear program by only a few months. The strikes sealed off the entrances to two of the facilities but did not collapse their underground buildings. Before the attack, U.S. intelligence agencies had said that if Iran tried to rush to make a bomb, it would take about three months. After the U.S. bombing run and days of attacks by the Israeli Air Force, the report by the Defense Intelligence Agency estimated that the program had been delayed, but by less than six months. The report also said that much of Iran's stockpile of enriched uranium was moved before the strikes, which destroyed little of the nuclear material. Iran may have moved some of that to secret locations. Presidential Commission on Religious Liberty holds first meeting The Presidential Commission on Religious Liberty held its first meeting last Monday at the Museum of the Bible in Washington, D.C. CARSON: “This commission promotes freedom of beliefs and that spiritual aspect of our existence that advances civilization. We will strive to facilitate the maintenance of one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” Back in May, President Donald Trump established the commission by executive order to advise him on protecting religious liberty in the United States. Students for Life to give away nearly 400,000 diapers Students for Life of America is planning the largest diaper giveaway this coming Saturday on Capitol Hill. The pro-life group will distribute 392,715 diapers. Each one represents an unborn baby murdered at Planned Parenthood abortion mills, according to its 2022-23 annual report. Kristan Hawkins, the president of Students for Life of America, said, “While this diaper drive is a large, singular feat, we hope it drives the pro-life movement to keep pushing Congress to defund abortion mills, hold up and encourage mothers and families, and be pillars of Life in their communities.” Proverbs 24:11 says, “Deliver those who are drawn toward death, and hold back those stumbling to the slaughter.” U.S. giving up 6.3% compared to 2023 A new report from Giving USA found that U.S. charitable giving increased to $592.5 billion in 2024. Total giving was up only 6.3% last year compared to 2023. Adjusted for inflation, it was up only 3.3%. Every type of recipient organization saw an increase in donations in current dollars. However, religious groups were the only ones to see a slight decrease in giving when adjusted for inflation. U.S. Marshals rescued 60 missing children & arrested child predators The U.S. Marshals Service rescued 60 missing children during an operation in Florida this month. The operation also led to the arrests of eight individuals, including child predators. William Berger, U.S. Marshal for the Middle District of Florida, said the operation “signifies the most successful missing child recovery effort in the history of the United States Marshals Service. … “The unique part of this operation was the fact that underaged, critically missing children … were not only recovered but were … provided with physical and psychological care. Those 10 Worldview listeners gave a total of $2,132. Ready for our new grand total? Drum roll please. The efficient and sufficient work of Christ means His people are His workmanship, His chosen people predestined for His purposes. What hope does the Christian have because the Lord is for them and is justifying them; who then can be against them? The Christian should not be ashamed because this gospel will produce this work and is guaranteed to end in glorification. All are hopeless without salvation but, as Dr. Lloyd-Jones says, thanks be to God for the saving power of His gospel. As the descendants of Jehu continue to reign in Israel, they do not turn away from the sin of Jeroboam the son of Nebat. However, Jehoahaz does seek the LORD's favor, and the LORD responds by graciously sending a savior. Jehoash serves as king in Israel during the days of Elisha's death. Elisha gives the word of the LORD to Jehoash the king as a father teaches a child, and it is a gracious word from the LORD of victory over Syria. The miracle that is done through Elisha even after the prophet has died foreshadows the miracle of eternal life that comes through the Prophet who has been raised from the dead, our Lord Jesus Christ.  Rev. “Then I saw that all toil and all skill in work come from a man's envy of his neighbor. This also is vanity and a striving after wind.” — Ecclesiastes 4:4Ecclesiastes shows us how even good work can go wrong when driven by envy. What starts as diligence can quickly become a pursuit of status. Today, we'll look at how chasing approval leaves us empty—and how God invites us into something much greater.The Idol of StatusThe Bible Project says Ecclesiastes “targets all the ways we try to build meaning and purpose in life apart from God.” It gives voice to the Preacher, who carefully exposes the emptiness of paths like pleasure, wealth, and status. In recent weeks, we've looked at the idols of pleasure and accumulation. Today, we turn to the idol of status.This one can be harder to spot. The line between excellence and envy is thin. Ecclesiastes 4:4 says, “Then I saw that all toil and all skill in work come from a man's envy of his neighbor.” That's a striking thought. Our motivation may not be love of the work or calling—it's often the quiet urge to compete. To keep up. To be seen.That's what status does. It whispers, You're not enough—unless others notice you. And without realizing it, our careers, spending, and even our generosity, can become ways of proving our worth.“Keeping up with the Joneses” isn't just a saying—it's a way of life for many. We compare houses, vacations, schools, and the pressure to match others can lead to debt, burnout, and dissatisfaction with what God has already provided.And in our digital age, the pressure's amplified. Social media showcases only the highlight reel, not the debt, exhaustion, or stress that often accompany it. But we still scroll and wonder, “Why not me?”A Better Way ForwardEcclesiastes answers that longing with honesty. In verse 8, the Preacher describes someone who works tirelessly, builds wealth, but has no one to share it with: “There is no end to all his toil, and his eyes are never satisfied with riches…” It's a picture of success without joy. Activity without peace. A full schedule, but an empty soul.However, he then offers a better alternative. In verse 6, we read: “Better is a handful of quietness than two hands full of toil and a striving after wind.” In other words, it's better to have less with peace than more with anxiety. That's not laziness—it's wisdom. A life lived with margin, grounded in God's provision.Work as Worship, Not PerformanceThis is the invitation Ecclesiastes extends: not to give up on excellence, but to anchor it in the right place. When our work flows from a love for God and a desire to serve others, it becomes a blessing, not a burden. It becomes worship.We don't need applause—we need peace. And in Christ, we already have it. His approval is not based on performance. It's based on grace. That frees us from striving to be seen and lets us rest in being known.Maybe that's where you are—tired, overextended, wondering what you're chasing. Ecclesiastes invites you to step off the treadmill of comparison. You don't have to strive for identity. You already have it in Jesus.We often see examples of this. A professional sacrifices evenings and weekends to climb the corporate ladder, only to feel lonely at the top. A family maxes out their budget to project an image, while tension quietly builds at home. These aren't just stories—they're warnings. And they echo Ecclesiastes' caution about what we're trading in our pursuit of more.Sometimes this isn't just about envy. It's about fear—fear of being unseen, of being left behind. So we push harder, hoping success will quiet that fear. But only God can give the peace we're looking for.Redefining SuccessContentment doesn't mean quitting. It means redefining success. It means anchoring your worth in something that lasts. When you stop striving in vain, your ambition gets reoriented. Your work becomes more joyful. Your giving becomes more meaningful.So ask yourself today: Who am I trying to impress? What am I really chasing?If your hands are full but your heart is empty, Ecclesiastes invites you to trade performance for peace. True success isn't about being noticed or admired—it's about being faithful with what God has given you. And your worth? It's not something you have to earn or achieve.
