According to an alleged leaked studio document, a "game plan" for the future of Star Wars has been devised and it includes very specific directives, like what era should all shows be based in, how often the films and shows should happen, and what's this about an "overarching framework" for all upcoming Star Wars stories? We look at what the document contains and provide our takes.  Steve Sansweet, Star Wars fan ambassador, author, and Friend of RFR, checks in to tell us all about his amazing new show The Saga Vault. Steve reveals to us how he acquired his rocket-firing prototype Boba Fett action figure, and gets us caught up on everything happening at Rancho Obi-Wan. We love whenever Steve checks in!  We compare the experiences of Maul: Shadow Lord and The Mandalorian and Grogu and pick which we liked best, we get the latest info about Star Wars: Starfighter via interview highlights from actor Matt Smith, we discuss the usage of Huttese in the Mando movie and more!

WSTR Galactic Public Access — Episode 436: Rodians In this episode of WSTR Galactic Public Access, Todd Hoffman returns to the show to continue the Rishi's Species segment, this time focusing on the Rodians—the reptilian, swamp-dwelling species best known for Greedo, the iconic bounty hunter from Star Wars: A New Hope. Todd explores what makes Rodians so recognizable, from their bug-like eyes and suction-cup fingers to their rough, pebbly skin and reputation as cunning hunters. The conversation looks at how their species is portrayed across Star Wars lore, including appearances in the Cantina, the Clone Wars, Return of the Jedi, Rebels, and the Bad Batch, and asks whether Greedo has unfairly become the defining Rodian in fan memory. The episode also digs into the broader cultural and storytelling potential of Rodians, comparing them to Mandalorians, discussing their possible role in bounty hunting and crime dramas, and imagining what kind of Star Wars series could center a Rodian lead. Along the way, Todd touches on behind-the-scenes trivia, including the evolution of Greedo's name, production notes, and the voice work that helped shape the character. News of the Week Todd covers three Star Wars headlines: "May the Force Be With You" was ranked the best Star Wars quote of all time in a recent Parade article Hasbro revealed a Jaina and Jacen Solo Black Series two-pack Reports suggest Star Wars: Starfighter footage may have been shown at a Disney cinema event Cantina Chat The episode closes with a personal catch-up: Carla is traveling for wedding shower celebrations Heather has officially embraced her cat-lady era Todd shares family updates, Father's Day gifts, and recent gaming talk, including Red Dead Redemption, Fortnite, and anticipation for Grand Theft Auto VI Call to Action WSTR invites listeners to share their thoughts on Rodians, Greedo, and underrated Star Wars species via social media, voicemail, or email. The show also teases next week's topic: the 40th anniversary of Labyrinth. This week, the AI industry continues its speedrun toward becoming the tech equivalent of a late-stage casino. Elon Musk insists reports of aid-cut-related deaths don't exist despite mountains of evidence, SpaceX stock slides far enough to knock him out of the trillionaire club, and a startup is literally suing the U.S. government because Anthropic's Fable 5 model got turned off after three whole days of availability. Once again, we revisit the First Commandment of Grumpy Old Geeks: never build your company on someone else's platform.Meanwhile, gas stations are being accused of using AI to coordinate prices, corporations are discovering that AI tokens cost actual money, and a Microsoft researcher used goats in Age of Empires II to demonstrate that maybe, just maybe, people are projecting way too much intelligence onto chatbots. The goats emerge with their reputations intact. The AI industry, less so.The workforce bloodbath rolls on as Oracle quietly sheds 21,000 employees while blaming AI, Norway bans generative AI for elementary school students after discovering that children should probably learn to read before outsourcing their homework to robots, and the FCC flirts with rules that could effectively kill anonymous burner phones in the name of fighting scams. Over at Meta, an employee surveillance program accidentally exposed sensitive data to the entire company because of course it did, while Zuckerberg continues his relentless quest to strap cameras to everyone's face and call it progress. Add in YouTube settling another social-media-harm case, Chrome finally kneecapping traditional ad blockers, and prediction markets spreading across tech like mold in a college apartment, and it's becoming increasingly clear that every bad idea eventually gets funded. In transportation news, autonomous vehicles continue demonstrating that "mostly works" is not a reassuring phrase when attached to two tons of moving metal. A Tesla on Autopilot crashes into a home and kills a grandmother, Rivian faces lawsuits over self-driving promises its hardware allegedly can't fulfill, and Waymo recalls thousands of robotaxis after they developed an unfortunate habit of driving into closed freeway construction zones. Elsewhere, Elon and Bezos are eyeing billions in broadband subsidies, Polymarket is accused of paying influencers to fake betting videos and climate data archivists are preserving public information from political interference.Media recommendations include The Mandalorian, Silo, Strange New Worlds, Dungeon Crawler Carl, and a reminder that Firefox may soon be the last refuge for people who enjoy both the internet and ad blockers. Some weeks the future feels exciting. This week it mostly feels like an extended warranty scam.Sponsors:DeleteMe - Get 20% off your DeleteMe plan when you go to JoinDeleteMe.com/GOG and use promo code GOG at checkout.Private Internet Access - Go to GOG.Show/vpn and sign up today. Queer people have always been in the Star Wars universe — the franchise just keeps hiding them. Matthew Fox, Alex Kormann, and Erin McGowan of Star Wars Generations on The Ethical Panda network take stock of LGBTQIA+ representation across the full canon for Pride Month 2026: from the covert queer coding of Lando and Admiral Holdo, to the openly queer High Republic novels, to the all-female coven of “The Acolyte” and the deeply felt enemies-to-lovers arc of Zeb and Kallus in “Rebels.”The hosts bring genuine stakes to the conversation: Erin grew up in a conservative religious community where bisexuality wasn't a thing you talked about. Matthew is non-binary and queer. Alex is the self-described straight cis member of the group, and arguably the most frustrated by how often the films blink first. Why does Star Wars take bigger risks for a smaller audience? And after decades of queer characters thriving in the books while the films hedge, will the next wave of Star Wars projects finally close that gap?Full show notes and resources: Here**************************************************************************This episode is a production of Star Wars Generations, an Ethical Panda podcast and part of the TruStory FM Entertainment Podcast Network. For years Chris and Daniel have been saying the corner was going to turn, that history would repeat itself the way it did in the 1970s. It turned. Jason Blum said the same thing last week. Two horror films made by twenty-something YouTubers just proved everything the studio system has been getting wrong, and the box office numbers are not being polite about it. Obsession cost under a million dollars. Backrooms cost ten million. Both are outperforming movies that cost a hundred times more. Chris and Daniel break down both films as filmmakers. They get into what Obsession borrows from Takashi Miike's Audition and why that works, how Backrooms uses the architecture of infinite scroll and TikTok as genuine psychological horror, why sound design and shadows are a more effective budget tool than any AI pipeline, what the economics of AMC A-list are doing to studio revenue models, and why the wrong lesson from all of this is to go hire these directors to make a Texas Chainsaw Massacre sequel. Referenced in this episode: Obsession (2025) Backrooms (2026) Audition (1999, dir. Takashi Miike) Avatar 3 (2025) The Odyssey (Christopher Nolan) (2026) Mandalorian and Grogu (2026) AMC A-list > A24 > Blumhouse > This episode is sponsored by: Center Grid Virtual Studio Kitbash 3D (Use promocode "CGGarage" for 10% off)

Allegedly, Star Wars has lost 85% of its fan base, but that's only when comparing The Force Awakens box office to The Mandalorian and Grogu. Clever article title but to be fair, that's just not accurate. While Disney Star Wars has definitely alienated its core audience over the years, I don't think it's a fair comparison being made here. I do think, however, that more fans are being pushed away with bad stories by the day, than what Lucasfilm will admit to, at least under Kathleen Kennedy. Hopefully, Dave Filoni has a plan going forwards which we will discuss in the next video. This episode was long-delayed for our audio-only audience, because there had been an expectation of recording a second part to this episode with some other friends of the show, but, said friends ended up not seeing it. So, the lesson learned: don't be afraid to do three episodes on the same movie. Don't hold back for fear of clogging up feeds with repetition... especially since that's what we've been doing for almost 14 years over here on the Bladtcast.

A lost audio artifact has resurfaced, and it is pure pop culture gold! We're talking about the ultimate, mind-melting crossover event: George Lucas and Robin Williams going deep during the peak Attack of the Clones era.  Back in the early 2000s, George Lucas sat down with Robin Williams for a wide-ranging conversation about Star Wars and filmmaking. This full interview was removed from the internet many years ago but it has been made available again and review a few choice highlights of when The Maker met Mork.  Plus, we have clips of Brendan Wayne discussing The Mandalorian and Grogu, along with listener feedback about the Mando movie and the potential for a Cal Kestis film. And, was the quote "This Is The Way" stolen from Game of Thrones? Did Grogu once actually say "This is the way" in an episode of The Mandalorian? We break it all down and look ahead to next year's Star Wars: Starfighter with speculation about the plot, characters and more!

One of the first potential Geek Blockbusters of the season has come (and gone) from theaters, and The Guys are wondering if it is a bust, indeed.  Robbie's annual birthday movie was spent at The Mandalorian and Grogu and his immediate reaction was: No-gu.   Jay and Art had to see it for themselves so they invested in a discounted matinee ticket and went in with low expectations.  Final verdict?  Entertaining, but they had questions.  Is it a kids' movie with excessive violence? Why was Sigourney on the journey?  Why isn't Scorcese muppetized in more films? How many months do they have to work out to go from a Jabba body to a Rotta build? The questions aren't serious…and it's hard to tell if the movie is.  But it certainly generated a lot of discussion.   Art also sneaks in a popcorn bucket announcement, Jay's interest in toys may have turned him into a Swiftie, and Robbie laments what may be the final demise of his most favorite show ever…unless it is miraculously regenerated.  Also regenerated: this podcast, every week for almost 400 weeks.  The Guys don't believe it either.

It's Summer and the At The Flicks team are avoiding the heat / rain by going as often to the cinema as they can! On one of these trips, the team watched the first Star Wars film for 7 years – The Mandalorian and Grogu. This spin off from the Disney+ TV series (ok the plot outline was originally designed for season 4), has plenty of action, horrific creatures and the lovable baby Yoda or as he is better known, Grogu.  They were so impressed they felt they had to talk about it. Joining Jeff and Graham for this pop-up review show is Gloucestershire reporter and Star Wars enthusiast Steve Knibbs.  Being a big fan of the Star Wars universe, Steve can bring to light the nuances that our two regulars often miss (not difficult at their respective ages).  However, before we talk Star Wars, Steve was asked about another event that is watched around the world – his reporting on the famous Gloucester Cheese Rolling which recently took place on Cooper's Hill. To find out Steve's thoughts on this landmark event and of course The Mandalorian feature film, you will have to check out this current episode.  We believe this is worth your time – a half hour well spent in great company. More Summer reviews will follow when we do our usual wrap up show of the season with Phil The Bear.  Expect fireworks in that one as I am sure Jeff and Phil will have different opinions on what they watch. Until then, maybe we will see you At The Flicks this Summer? Bye for now.

Seven years between Star Wars films, and the galaxy came back with a tin-can dad, a green gremlin, and a muscled teenage Hutt with an identity crisis. Matthew Fox of Star Wars Generations joins Pete Wright, Justin Jaeger, and Ocean Murff on The Film Board to work through all of it — the parts that soar, the parts that drag, and the twenty minutes in a swamp that made everyone forget they were watching a puppet. The panel is split on the Swole Hutt (Ocean is in, Pete is out), united on Ludwig Göransson's score, and divided on whether this is a movie or just the best three episodes of a Mandalorian season that never got made. Martin Scorsese shows up as an informant and somehow steals the room. Sigourney Weaver shows up as a character and somehow doesn't. The question the table keeps circling: did Star Wars prove it belongs in theaters, or did it prove Ocean right all along?Full show notes and resources: HereThis episode on The Film Board: The Lunchbox Mandalorian • Mandalorian and Grogu**************************************************************************This episode is a production of Star Wars Generations, an Ethical Panda podcast and part of the TruStory FM Entertainment Podcast Network. Matt and Jordan review HBO’s Sundance acquisition Miss You Love You. And while Jordan finds it to be a handsome, moving, and well-acted "filmed play", Matt finds too modest and predictable. For Rec Seg, Matt revisits the grueling, ice-cold dread of corporate culture with a 2019 workplace thriller, while Jordan counters with a classic 1982 Sidney Lumet thriller packed with more twists, turns -- and smooches!
