The Claw's Corner With Rich Cyr

Premiered Oct 25, 2020 On this episode of “The Claw's Corner” Rich Cyr interviews Victoria Price! Excerpts from her bio from victoriaprice.com - Victoria Price brings her unique story to the national and international stage as an author, inspirational speaker, life coach/practitioner, designer, artist & art consultant, and interspiritual & interfaith minister. Her inspirational memoir, The Way of Being Lost: A Road Trip to My Truest Self, was published by Dover Publications/Ixia Press in 2018. Her next book, Live As If: Transform Your Life through Love-Based Practices will be released by Dover/Ixia in April 2020. Victoria travels the world speaking on inspirational topics ranging from the daily practice of joy, living your legacy of yes, facing our fears and transforming your life through Love-based practices, and making peace with our past stories to expand our creative futures. She also gives talks about the role of the arts in society, as well as the life of her famous father, Vincent Price, along with a range of topics on interior & industrial design. In 2012, Victoria was invited to be a TedX speaker, giving the talk, Tell Me What Do You Have in the House. For two decades, Victoria has spoken around the world to audiences, who have enjoyed her ease, erudition, and inspiration in sharing her enthusiasm and encouragement for living a joy-filled life. As a life coach/practitioner and an interfaith/interspiritual minister, Victoria works with individuals and groups in one-on-one and group settings on what she has come to call “our road trip to our truest selves”. Victoria also performs weddings as well as other ceremonies and rituals. Growing up in Hollywood as the daughter of actor and art collector Vincent Price and designer Mary Grant Price, Victoria took inspiration from her parents in developing a successful career in interior design. Melding her vibrant contemporary design aesthetics with her extensive knowledge of the visual arts Victoria seamlessly blends modern and historic, regional and international, ethnographic and urban styles to create unique living and working environments throughout the United States.. Victoria works with her clients to help them realize their design visions by using what she believes is the most essential design skill–listening. Victoria's goal is never to impose her own aesthetic on her clients, but to listen to their stories, their needs, their likes and dislikes, as together Victoria and her clients create spaces that reflect her clients' lives. She has taught at the University of New Mexico, New Mexico Highlands University, and the Philos School–an alternative arts-and-humanities school in Santa Fe that she helped to found. This week I had the pleasure to speak with Sam Sanchez. He is a graduate of Robertson High School in Las Vegas and New Mexico Highlands University. He competed in track through high school and cross country in both high school and in college. We were teammates in high school and it was great to catch up with him. Sam's journey took him from joining track with a friend to now running marathons. He has completed 17 marathons, including Boston. He gave good insight about taking it easy on easy days and how his recovery has changed as he has gotten older. Not all of our conversation was recorded, but it was a lot of fun talking about former teammates, old runs and routes, and friendships. It's not often we get to reminisce with old teammates and I am grateful for this opportunity to do that. It reminded me of other teammates I'd like to reach out and places I'd like to visit when I go home. I hope you get that feeling as well and that Sam encourages you to continue to go after your goals. It's racing season! It feels like most weekends I'm seeing racing reports from runners I follow. I look forward to seeing continued posts, both ups and downs, because it's a privilege we get to do this again. So gear up, hydrate, fuel, and keep running, New Mexico.

Todd Zipper believes there will always be a place for a bachelor's degree. But don't think that will ever be enough. In this episode, The president of Wiley Education Services predicts a microverse of education institutions that will continually support lifelong education and points to a truly hybrid classroom of the future.“This pandemic has shed light on the importance of providing flexible, outcomes-focused learning experiences to students, while also proving the dire need for more jobs central to this crisis – specifically those in healthcare and social work,” said Zipper. Thursday, November 7, 2019 A class of 15 Media Arts students from New Mexico Highlands University, in partnership with NM Historic Sites and the tribal governors at Jemez Pueblo in Jemez Springs, NM completed a full redesign and installation of the visitors center at Jemez Historic site during a semester intensive. The goal was to shift the focus to a pueblo/indigenous perspective, rather than the just the Spanish conquest. Using scalable digital media, the students designed, developed ,and installed extensive large-format projection mapping, screen-based interaction, responsive exhibits in restrooms (it is a small building and we had to maximize gallery space!), and a lasered/CNC floor to illustrate a map of yet-to-be- excavated native ruins. Session Type30-Minute Session (Presentation or Case Study) TrackExperience Key Outcomes After attending this session, participants will gain some insight in to the practice of working with a council of tribal members to re-envision a traditional visitors center that welcomes about 40,000 visitors per-year, one where most visitors possess no prior knowledge of the history of indigenous culture or contemporary indigenous life.
