Some weeks frankly suck more than others. This was one of those weeks as we lost one of film’s most promising figures of the past decade: Chadwick Boseman. This was a story no one was expecting or wanting to hear, yet one filled with more grace, dignity, and strength than King T’Challa possesses. Rest in Power, Mr. Boseman. The Internet can officially put their fears to rest because Robert Pattinson is Vengeance (more commonly known as Batman) and the results so far are glorious. It’s a bold move whenever a film takes place far off into an unknown future because once the future becomes the present that film is once again ripe for analysis and in many cases a takedown. We’re here today to talk about some films that we think have done a strong job in predicting future technology, a mixed job in predicting future (now-past) cultural events, and a flat out bad job (so far) in predicting our dystopian future. It was a twenty year period filled with ups and downs, but you can’t say Fox’s X-Men films weren’t at least memorable. Now as 20th Century Fox is no more and The New Mutants is finally set to be released this month, we look back at the film franchise that made comic book fans both giddy and furious in equal measure.
