(RV1960).
This listener Q&A episode tackles the most common fasting challenges with evidence-based solutions, addressing Monica's self-sabotage pattern after reaching new low weights by explaining the body's three-pronged defense system (defend phase preventing further loss, restore phase increasing regain rate, and prevent phase reducing future weight loss probability) that creates powerful physiological resistance requiring equally comprehensive counter-strategies. The hosts reveal how metabolic adaptation activates during weight loss like a toddler throwing a tantrum, making the body fight harder at new weight thresholds, while providing practical "when-then planning" to manage the slippery slope of increased hunger and reduced willpower that emerges from dopamine deficits caused by sleep disruption and stress. They address Emily's two-week plateau after losing seven pounds initially with 20:4 fasting, explaining the critical distinction between water weight loss from glycogen depletion versus true fat loss, recommending the Blueprint to Fasting for Fat Loss resource and strategic window timing adjustments to restart momentum. Patty's wine consumption question during OMAD receives honest analysis of alcohol's metabolic priority over fat burning, sleep disruption effects reducing next-day metabolic efficiency, and dose-dependent impact on hormones especially for postmenopausal women, with recommendations to shift from daily to occasional consumption strategically timed for better recovery. The episode covers supplement timing during fasting windows (berberine, creatine recommended daily for consistency despite potential stomach sensitivity), addresses sleep disturbances from excessive 48-hour fasting during maintenance (recommending 24-36 hour alternatives to protect sleep quality over marginal metabolic gains), and explains post-meal walking benefits for glucose management through skeletal muscle uptake and improved insulin sensitivity, even when continuous glucose monitors show delayed rather than reduced spikes. Throughout, Scott and Tommy emphasize viewing fat loss and maintenance as a continuum rather than separate phases, building sustainable habits during weight loss that seamlessly transition to lifelong maintenance, positioning their upcoming pre-Thanksgiving seven-day challenge as strategically timed to establish momentum before the holiday season while reinforcing that successful fasting integration requires addressing foundational lifestyle factors of stress, sleep, food relationships, and mindset alongside fasting schedules. Summary Are your symptoms really coming from a “broken body”—or are they actually a brain habit? In this episode, Ali breaks down the science of neuroplastic symptoms (sometimes called TMS or mind-body symptoms) and explains why real, physical sensations like pain, fatigue, gut issues, and dizziness can persist even without structural damage. You'll learn how the brain's danger pathways work, why symptoms become a habit, and how fear and avoidance keep the cycle alive. Drawing on Alan Gordon's “false alarm” framework, Ali shares simple, practical ways to rewire your brain's response—so symptoms lose their power and your nervous system learns safety again. If you've been stuck in the endless cycle of symptoms, worry, and searching for answers, this episode will give you clarity, hope, and a roadmap for healing. Takeaways Neuroplastic symptoms are real—but they're created by the brain's danger pathways, not by structural damage. Fear and attention fuel the cycle: every time you monitor or worry, the brain reinforces the symptom as “important.” Symptoms become a habit loop—just like a song stuck in your head, the brain gets good at producing them through repetition. Alan Gordon's false alarm analogy helps explain why symptoms are real but not dangerous—the alarm is sounding, but there's no fire. Healing is possible: by reducing fear, processing emotions, and re-engaging in life, you can rewire your brain and teach it safety. You are not Shelby Sapp. You cannot show up with your workout set, your energy drink, and close people within two minutes on a call because you can hold frame. You have the confidence, and you have whatever secret sauce she is secreting. And that's fine.Sales is a hot topic right now. I don't know if you're on the same side of Instagram I'm on, but I keep seeing video after video of high-ticket closers teaching “how to handle objections” — these women in their twenties, making it for themselves, buying flashy cars, and saying, “I'm in sales, I can help you get into sales.”And maybe you even have a specific name popping into your head — Shelby Sapp. Sales has officially become cool.So today, I'm giving you a counter perspective. If you love that vibe — amazing. But if you're the person who thinks, “I can't sell like that. I don't even want to,” this episode is for you. Because even though I'm a sales copywriter, I realized something wild… I'm actually kind of bad at sales — and still scaled to $30K months. What You'll Learn:Why you don't need to master traditional sales tactics to scale your businessHow I grew to $30K months without cold pitching or pushy sales callsThe difference between sales skills and sales messaging (and why messaging wins)The “anti-pushy” approach to attracting clients who are already ready to buyHow to make your messaging do 90% of the work before you even get on a callYou don't have to be a closer. Welcome to another short and empowering episode of Monday Motivation, giving you a dose of inspiration as you head into your week... Today, we explore a powerful quote by the great philosopher Aristotle - a bold reminder that criticism is inevitable when you're truly living: 'There is only one way to avoid criticism: do nothing, say nothing, and be nothing.' Three key takeaways you can expect: Why criticism is often more about others’ fears than your truth. How to stay grounded in your values to silence external noise. Why choosing progress over perfection will bring your dream life to life. Listen in and discover how to use criticism as a compass guiding you towards your dream life, whatever that means for you. As always, I’d LOVE to hear what resonates with you from this episode and what you plan to implement after listening in. So please share and let’s keep the conversation going in the Dream Life Podcast Facebook Group here. Have a wonderful week …and remember, it all starts with a dream

No tan deprisa, amiguito.

The Love, Happiness and Success Podcast With Dr. Lisa Marie Bobby
This episode first aired on April 26, 2021 (Episode 243), and I'm bringing it back because so many listeners told me it felt like I was speaking directly to their experience. Living with a partner who always seems angry is confusing, painful, and can leave you feeling constantly on edge. In this episode, I'll help you understand what's really happening in that dynamic and share strategies to move back toward safety and connection. Whether you're in the middle of it now, reflecting on a past relationship, or supporting someone you care about, my hope is that this brings you both clarity and comfort. Anger in relationships is almost always a secondary emotion. Beneath the sharp words or defensiveness, there's usually hurt, fear, or a longing to feel cared for. I'll walk you through why trying to shut anger down often makes things worse, how shifting your own responses can change the cycle, and what it really takes to rebuild trust and create space for vulnerability. As you listen, consider: What story have you been telling yourself about your partner's anger? What might shift if you saw the pain or fear underneath it? And how could you show up in a way that invites connection instead of distance? Episode Breakdown: 00:00 Understanding Why Your Partner Always Seems Angry 05:47 The Pursue–Withdraw Cycle in Relationships 11:02 What's Really Driving Anger in a Relationship 18:03 When Anger Crosses Into Abuse 20:03 How to Rebuild Trust Through Emotional Availability 24:28 Anger as a Secondary Emotion: Hurt and Fear Beneath the Surface 27:03 How Counseling and Support Can Shift Entrenched Patterns 28:06 Recommended Resources for Healing Relationships If you're tired of replaying the same arguments, I created my Communication That Connects Free Training to help.
