Der Grund: Am 23.04. veröffentlicht Gallup den aktuellen Bericht zum „State of the Global Workforce“. Ihr hört On the Way to New Work – heute mit Pa M.K. 4. Wie beeinflusst Schlafmangel unsere Fehlerquote im Beruf? 5. Was steckt hinter Amy Edmondsons bahnbrechender Forschung zur Psychologischen Sicherheit in Teams? 6. State of the Global Workforce” sprechen! Four more people from care homes in the Fraser and Vancouver Coastal Health regions have died from COVID-19 in the past 24 hours. But, BC's latest daily new case count is the lowest its been for almost two months. There are eight new cases of the virus reported, none in the Island Health Region. There are also fewer people in hospital with three in Island health and 75 others in the rest of the province. BC's Provincial Health officer says the numbers show "we've put the brakes on for sure, but we have not yet stopped this train." Dr. Bonnie Henry has released a set of guiding principals in anticipation of the relaxation of some restrictions and the re-opening of some businesses that will be announced by the Premier on Wednesday. The Mayor's Task Force on Recovery and Resiliency will recommend immediate economic recovery strategies in the short term and identify ways to build local resilience in the longer term. Its plan and recommendations to council are expected this fall. Mayor Leonard Krog says his Task Force will work with individuals, businesses and community groups to support community-driven ideas and solutions for economic recovery. The group includes the President of Vancouver Island University, the Chair of the Nanaimo Port Authority, the Executive Director of the local United Way, the CEO of the Petroglyph Development Group from the Snuneymuxw First Nation and the Regional Managing Partner of Vancouver Island MNP, an accounting and business consulting firm.Meanwhile, Nanaimo city council has voted against reducing this year's property tax to ease the burden on ratepayers during the pandemic. The tax rate this year will increase by four and a half percent. Council debated whether to limit tax rate increases to 3.8 per cent or 1 per cent. But in a 7-2 vote, council rejected those proposals because they would mean dipping into the city's reserve funds. Instead, council wants the reserve fund money available for economic stimulus projects next year, when federal and provincial assistance programs may no longer exist.Written and reported by Lisa Cordasco. Today, the federal government announced a $238 million program to help farmers and cattle and hog producers weather the COVID-19 crisis. That's far short of the two-and-half-billion dollar ask from those groups. Fruit Growers president Pinder Dhaliwal says “The announcement today addresses the immediate needs for the beef and livestock producers and processors, but has not addressed the immediate needs of the fruit, vegetable and grain sectors,”Two Nanaimo teenagers are facing charges of arson and theft, in relation to an incident where a flare was let off at the Circle K convenience store and gas bar on Sunday night. Police allege the 16-year-olds shoplifted some items, then lit a flare inside the store before leaving. The store clerk was not injured, but the ensuing fire means the store remains closed indefinitely. Police were able to identify the teens with video surveillance from the site. One was arrested in a south Nanaimo home on Sunday, the second was arrested in Ladysmith on Monday. Hutterites are taxed under section 143 of the Income Tax Act. Colonies are taxed as if they were a trust so the collective income of the community gets allocated to colony members who are 18 years of age and older Section 143 does not allow Hutterite colonies to allocate income to community members under the age of 18 while other farmers are allowed to do so. For example, a regular farmer can pay his child who is under the age of 18 up to $ 10,000 tax free, while Hutterites cannot. This is a arguably a disadvantage for Hutterite communities where both male and female young people usually join the colony workforce at age 15. It wasn't until 1997 that colonies were allowed to allocate income to their spouses while other farmers have had that ability for many years.  Nor do they collect premiums from the Canada Pension Plan or receive social assistance. The income allotted to individuals gets reported on personal income tax returns and colony members pay taxes at the applicable personal tax rates.   Hutterites contributes more than 2 billion dollars to the annual economy of Canada.
