Step into Episode 197 of On The Delo as Delo sits down with chef Beau MacMillan for an unflinching conversation about what happens when 30 years of grinding finally collide with reality.Beau has lived the highlights—celebrity chef status, Iron Chef wins, cooking for Steven Tyler, Jerry Bruckheimer, Adam Sandler, and building Sanctuary into a 23-year Arizona institution. What often goes untold is what happens when validation, recognition, and performance stop being enough. Now over 50, Beau describes feeling mentally 19 and physically 76. Decades of 14-hour days, seven-day weeks, and constant pressure caught up to him. The shift began when his wife, after prioritizing her own health, told him plainly: “We've got all these kids, and they need us. I want you to be around. This episode doesn't start with résumés or origin stories. It starts with reckoning.Beau opens up about quitting smoking after a lifetime of loving cigarettes, going alcohol-free in an industry built around booze, and rebuilding his health incrementally so he can actually be present for his wife and five kids. The yacht chapter—cooking in the Caribbean, losing 75–80 pounds, fasting, and learning to eat for fuel instead of numbing—became the baseline he's been trying to return to ever since. But this conversation goes beyond personal health. It confronts the brutal reality of hospitality: stress is the root cause, and substances, food, and dopamine become coping mechanisms when the pressure never stops. Beau reflects on thriving in chaos, the rush of 350-cover nights, and how the same wiring that made him great also made him numb.Leadership and legacy take center stage as Beau challenges industry norms—calling for clean, organized, desirable kitchens, real mentorship, and cultures where people stay because they know they matter. Success, for him, was never titles or money, but “beautiful people, beautiful places, beautiful food.Chapter Guide (Timestamps)(0:00 – 2:40) Introduction: Skipping the Origin Story and Starting in the Present(2:41 – 8:40) Turning 50: Health Wake-Up, Family Priorities, Quitting Smoking and Alcohol(8:41 – 15:20) The Yacht Chapter: Solitude, Weight Loss, Fasting, and Food as Fuel(15:21 – 23:35) Food, Addiction, and Incremental Change: Nourishment Over Numbing(23:36 – 31:15) The Invisible Weight of the Grind: 7-Day Weeks and Dopamine Highs(31:16 – 40:00) Kitchens, Culture, and Retention: Why Young Chefs Are Leaving(40:01 – 46:30) Stress as the Root Cause: Healing Hospitality and Managing Pressure(46:31 – 55:30) Sanctuary Legacy: Mentorship, Relationships, and Redefining Success(55:31 – 1:04:00) Early Career and Recognition: Celebrity Diners, TV, and Iron Chef(1:04:01 – 1:12:30) The Handwritten Letter: Top Chef, Timing, and Full-Circle Moments(1:12:31 – 1:20:00) Arizona as Home: Community, Gratitude, and What's Simmering(1:20:01 – 1:27:30) Resting, Consulting, and Manifesting the Next Chapter(1:27:31 – End) Quiet Heroes, True Impact, and Final ReflectionsThis isn't a redemption story. In this episode of Macros Made Easy, I'm sharing something more personal than usual. I'm walking you through what pregnancy is teaching me about midlife, menopause, and body autonomy, and why moving through two seasons in a changing one body has reshaped how I think about food, training, and trust. At first glance, pregnancy and menopause seem like opposites, but living in both worlds has shown me how similar they actually feel. In two seasons that look very different on paper, the body gets louder, hormones take the lead, and the old rules stop working. When you are living in one body that is changing without asking for permission, trying to maintain a controlling diet only creates more frustration and disconnection.I talk about how pregnancy has forced me to let go of a controlling diet mindset and lean fully into flexible dieting instead. Eating more without attaching meaning to it. Training for function instead of aesthetics. Resting without guilt. These same shifts are exactly what midlife women need as hormones change and the body stops responding to restriction. This episode explores why body autonomy matters more than ever during hormonal transitions. True body autonomy is not about forcing your body into submission. It is about learning how to partner with your body during two seasons of change while honoring that you are still living in one body that deserves care, nourishment, and respect.I also explain why flexible dieting is often the missing piece for women navigating midlife and menopause. A controlling diet increases stress when hormones are already elevated. flexible dieting creates structure without rigidity and support without punishment. When you shift away from a controlling diet and toward flexible dieting, your body can finally exhale.Throughout the episode, I connect my pregnancy experience to what I see daily in midlife women who feel confused, frustrated, or disconnected from their bodies. When you are moving through two seasons in the same one body, the goal is not control. The goal is trust. That is where body autonomy begins. In this episode, I cover:Why pregnancy and menopause feel surprisingly similar inside the bodyHow a controlling diet backfires during hormonal transitionsWhy flexible dieting supports energy, recovery, and resilienceHow to rebuild body autonomy when the old rules stop workingWhat it means to care for one body through two seasons of changeIf your body feels unfamiliar lately, this episode is for you. Whether you are navigating perimenopause, menopause, or simply a new season in your health, learning to release a controlling diet, embrace flexible dieting, and rebuild body autonomy is how you move forward with confidence in the same one body, even as you pass through two seasons.

This week Fr. Michael reflects on tradition vs canon, inspired by his recent Christmas tree decorating. (Yes, this was recorded a few weeks back!) He talks about ways to identify tradition vs canon in our individual life, our family life, and our parish life. He talks about the importance of setting norms, even for adults, but also being able to identify when flexibility is needed. Fr. Michael also talks about setting aside work for the sake of rest.References:The Great Divorce by C.S. If you've ever thought, “I've tried everything… why is food still so hard for me?” this episode is for you.title: "I Tried Every Diet for 30 Years. This Is What Actually Healed My Relationship With Food"In this deeply honest conversation, I sit down with Mandie, a former long-term dieter, perfectionist, mom, and high-achiever who spent over 30 years managing her weight, controlling food, and trying to “do it right”… yet still felt trapped by food obsession, binge cycles, and constant mental noise.Mandie shares what it was like to:Start dieting at 10 years old with the best intentionsSpend decades bouncing between control and loss of controlDo “well” in every area of life except foodFeel terrified to let go of rules because control felt safer than trustRealize the problem was never food or willpower, but nervous system dysregulation and self-trustWe talk about the uncomfortable middle of healing. The part no one prepares you for. Feeling emotions instead of eating them. Resting without guilt. Gaining a little weight before finding your body's natural balance. Learning to trust yourself again after years of outsourcing that trust to plans, points, and rules. This episode is not about quick fixes or perfect eating. It's about what actually creates peace. It's about why healing feels hard before it feels freeing. And it's about why you're not broken, lazy, or failing, even if it feels that way right now.If you're exhausted from white-knuckling food, tired of starting over, and wondering if real freedom is still possible for you, this conversation will remind you that it is.And sometimes, the next step isn't another plan. It's support, safety, and learning how to trust yourself again.Register here for my FREE Live workshop happening on January 20th : The Proven 4-Step Framework To Stop Feeling Obsessed With Food For Good Without Dieting Or Willpower
Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were three young men from Judah who found themselves in a heated situation. They were brought into the court of King Nebuchadnezzar II, and ordered to bow before the king's golden image. The alternative was a one-way ticket to the fiery furnace. The king's command would have been easy for these guys to follow, but their own King of Kings had already commanded them to place no other gods before Him, and to stay away from the evil of graven images. They may have been wary of the king's wrath, but their faith in God was stronger. They replied in Daniel 3:16–18, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter...Our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and He will deliver us from your hand, O king. But if not, let it be known to you, O king, that we do not serve your gods, nor will we worship the gold image which you have set up.”Rather than violate their commitment to obey God, these men put their lives in His hands. They didn't know whether God would intervene to save them. They knew God could, but they didn't know that He would. Regardless of the outcome, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego chose to live for the Lord, and if necessary, they were willing to die in obedience to the Lord.Romans 14:8 says, “If we live, we live for the Lord; and if we die, we die for the Lord. So, whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord.”As an example of His power, God intervened to spare their lives. Even though He allowed them to be tied up and thrown into the furnace, the blazing heat didn't affect them at all. They walked out unharmed. In the midst of our own challenges, we know God can and does show up for us. He asks us to trust Him with the obstacles we face every day, and even with our very lives.Let's pray.Jesus, it's unlikely anyone will threaten to throw us into a fiery furnace, but sometimes it sure feels like our feet are put to the fire. Remind us to trust you...with every dilemma, every shortcoming, and every situation. We give you our challenges and our lives. In Jesus' name, amen. Change your shirt, and you can change the world! Anxiety and fear can feel overwhelming — and for many Christians, they can even feel like a failure of faith. In this episode, we talk about how to rest in God instead of anxiety, take fear's authority away from our thoughts and decisions (through Scripture), and trust God with our future. I'm joined by Maddie Joy Fischer, Live Original Ambassador, author, and Christian influencer and content creator, for an honest conversation about what it looks like to rely on God when fear is loud. We explore how freedom from fear doesn't mean you'll never feel anxious again — but it does mean fear no longer gets to control your life. In this episode, we talk about: Why fear doesn't need to have authority over you How Scripture helps us take anxious thoughts captive instead of letting them control us What inspired Maddie to share openly about anxiety and learning to rest in God Why fear often holds us back from the life God is calling us to What to do when things do go wrong — and how to trust God anyway Encouragement for Christians who feel guilty for struggling with anxiety How to move toward peace, joy, and the abundant life God desires for you How to trust God when things don't go according to plan If you struggle with anxiety, overthinking, or fear of the unknown, this episode will remind you that God is patient, present, and trustworthy — even here. How do you know if you're actually resting… or just checking out?In today's Dad Tired Daily, Jerrad talks about the difference between restorative, soul-level rest and numbing behaviors that help us escape but don't actually restore us.Most men aren't lazy — they're tired. And when we don't know how to rest, we reach for things that temporarily quiet the noise but leave us more exhausted the next day. This episode will help you:Discern rest vs. numbing in everyday lifeUnderstand why numbing works short-term but drains you long-termLearn what real, boring, restorative rest actually looks likePractice a simple way to help your soul slow downInspired by Psalm 23 and Jesus' invitation to rest.Rested men lead their families well.
What do you do when faith doesn't make the pain disappear? In this deeply grounding conversation, host Erin Kerry sits down with Dominique Young, founder of Faith Mamas Inc., to talk honestly about pain, fear, and the temptation to hide—both from God and from others. Dominique shares how her own experiences with suffering shaped her ministry and her new book, God, Where Are You, challenging the Christian “quick fix” mentality that often pressures believers to move past pain before it's been acknowledged. With wisdom rooted in Scripture, psychology, and lived experience, she invites listeners to stop masking, stop spiritualizing discomfort away, and instead allow God to meet them inside their pain. This episode explores what it really means to feel uncomfortable emotions without shame, how faith communities can become safer spaces for those who are hurting, and why true healing begins when we rest in our God-given identity—not performance, productivity, or pretending. If you've ever wondered where God is in your suffering, this conversation is a reminder: you don't have to hide to belong. Key Topics: - Why pain doesn't mean God is absent - The cost of hiding behind spiritual “quick fixes” - Giving yourself permission to feel hard emotions - Vulnerability, identity, and emotional honesty in faith spaces - How churches and communities can better support suffering - Resting in who you are—not who you perform as Guest Info: Instagram: @dominiqueyoung YouTube: Faith Family Worldwide Website: dominiquenyoung.com Dominique's Book: God, Where Are You (available wherever books are sold) Join Erin's monthly mailing list to get health tips and fresh meal plans and recipes every month: https://mailchi.mp/adde1b3a4af3/monthlysparksignup Order Erin's new book, Live Beyond Your Label, at erinbkerry.com/upcomingbook/
The readings for this homily: https://bible.usccb.org/bible/readings/011226.cfmFather Daniel Klimek, PhD reflects on the beginning of Christ's public ministry and the radical call of discipleship. When Jesus calls the first apostles, He does not simply invite admiration, but demands surrender. Peter leaves his nets behind—his livelihood, his security, his safety—to follow Christ. Those nets, Fr. Daniel explains, symbolize the attachments and “safety nets” that often keep us from deeper freedom in God.Discipleship always requires sacrifice. Christ asks for totality, not partial allegiance. “You cannot serve both God and mammon” (Mt 6:24; NABRE). Idols must be broken so that Jesus may take first place in the heart. Yet this surrender is not rooted in fear, but in love. God desires intimacy, the love of a divine Bridegroom who wants the whole heart of His beloved.Father Daniel reminds us that true discipleship is not merely intellectual. The apostles were transformed because they spent time with Jesus—resting in His presence, listening, and being sanctified by Him. That same presence remains with us today in the Holy Eucharist. In Eucharistic adoration, Christ heals anxiety, grants supernatural peace, and draws souls into deeper friendship with Him.Even fatigue before the Blessed Sacrament is not wasted. Resting in Christ's presence is still prayer. As Scripture assures us, “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest” (Mt 11:28; NABRE). Time given to Jesus is never lost—it is the sacrifice that forms true disciples. To grow in understanding of how Christ works through the Sacraments, explore Understanding the Sacraments, available at ShopMercy.org. Stop and think about who Jesus was speaking to when He said the following: "Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest." Of course, it was directed specifically at those (Jewish people) who had been held under an unprofitable law which required them to work at hearing and *doing* all of it in order to *try* to attain to right standing with God. There was no rest for them to enter into within that system of the stone-tablet ministry. Unfortunately, some of that obsolete arrangement has trickled down similar concepts to corporate Christianity today. God has not placed you *under arrest* only to be released on parole based upon rehabilitation and good behavior. Through Christ, He has placed you under *a rest.* He is the One who sets captives free. This is the reality and truth for you right now, even if you don't always feel as though you are experiencing such perfect peace and rest at all times. While the religious world loves to strike a "balance" ... and will try to regulate your rest based on regulations and law-like lifelessness planted in decrees and ordinances, we have been given something much better in the New Covenant of Jesus Christ. It's God's grace—and it will bring internal and eternal peace when we embrace it. He died so we could live in it. --Available on Amazon - "Clash of The Covenants: Escaping Religious Bondage Through the Grace Guarantee" https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0713ZSKY7

This week, Dudley brings us his Monthly Message: The Resting Heart. In it he offers a clear and hope filled Hebrews 3 explained teaching that addresses why so many believers struggle with rest. By walking through Scripture, he contrasts grace vs law and shows how striving, fear, and religious pressure keep hearts restless even when faith is sincere. You will discover how rest with Jesus is not inactivity but trust in His finished work, and why the Sabbath was always meant to point beyond a day toward a deeper reality. Dudley unpacks a theology of rest rooted in the gospel, revealing how Jesus fulfills the law and invites us to live from assurance rather than effort. As Hebrews warns, refusing grace leads to hardened hearts, while receiving Christ produces joy, endurance, and peace. This teaching helps reframe anxiety, obedience, and spiritual discipline through the lens of grace, inviting believers to live today in confidence and freedom by trusting fully in what Jesus has already done.Visit StudyWithDudley.com to get free access to over 100 hours of deep Bible study..Get Dudley's Weekly Word delivered right to your inbox every Friday! Jon Ritchie on the 94 WIP Morning Show is adamant that Nick Sirianni and the Eagles resting the starters in the loss to Washington yesterday was a huge mistake. If the Eagles had won, they would have secured the 2nd seed in the NFC since the Detroit Lions beat the Bears. Jon thinks the Eagles gave away a prime opportunity at the 2nd seed and getting another home game in the playoffs. Joe DeCamara and James Seltzer think it was the right decision to sit the starters.

Have you ever lain in bed at night, exhausted—but unable to quiet your thoughts? Or felt that tightness in your chest, the racing worries, the sense that you should be okay… but you’re not? If that sounds familiar, today’s episode of The Love Offering Podcast was recorded with you in mind. I’m joined by my dear friend Becky Keife to talk about her new devotional, A Verse a Day for the Anxious Soul—and this conversation is both tender and deeply hopeful. Becky shares her own journey with anxiety, the freedom that came through honesty, and the simple, grace-filled ways God meets us right in the middle of our anxious moments. We talk about:• Why anxiety is so common—and why you’re not weak for feeling it• How Scripture offers real comfort for weary, overwhelmed hearts• Practical peace practices you can actually live out (even on hard days)• Letting go of shame and learning to receive God’s compassion• Resting in God’s presence when you don’t even have words to pray What I love most about Becky’s approach is this reminder: God doesn’t shame us for our anxiety. He draws near. He invites us to come, to rest, and to receive His peace—one breath, one prayer, one verse at a time. If your soul has been craving calm, reassurance, or simply the reminder that you are not alone, this episode will be a gift to you.
As the Philadelphia Eagles continue to debate if they should rest their starters in this weekend's season finale, Joe Giglio brings up two factors that he thinks are currently not being discussed enough. Hey lady! We made it! In this final episode of 2025, Dr. Dom and Terri celebrate all that has happened in this year so that they can honor it with sacred closure and use the lessons learned to fuel a productive, prosperous, and peaceful new year. Lady, what are the rituals and practices that you do at the end of year that help you set powerful intentions to have the year you want to have? Are you a woman who doesn’t play about having the house clean, the Black-eyed peas and greens on the stove when the clock strikes 12 on January 1? Are you a woman who likes to review all that happened this year to reflect on what went well and what could use some improvement…and what just doesn’t need to happen no mo’? Are you the woman who believes in pressing forward without addressing the good and the bad of what they year brought? Or, are you the woman who shuts the laptop, snuggles in bed with your favorite snack, book, show and gets all of the rest you need? We’re grown women so you already know that there is no right way to do life but Terri and Dr. Dom have some tips and frameworks that can help you sort through the year you’ve had so that you walk into 2026 with clarity and a sense of direction. Tune into this episode for journal prompts to walk you through your thoughts so that you’re off to the races when the clock strikes. Cheers to a safe and restful rest of the year!
