’Tis the season for endless holiday specials. I remember torturing my parents by requiring us to all watch the same crappy shows every year… “Here Comes Santa Claus” or “Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer” or watching the Thanksgiving Day Parade or seeing “How the Grinch Stole Christmas” for the upteenth time… it was really a sacrifice because back then we didn’t have more than one TV in the house and it wasn’t like my Dad could watch something else or play on his iPad while I watched “A Very Brady Christmas” again. I’m surprised I wasn’t abused. But now, you can get back at your kids by listening to this on the way to wherever you are going … Let’s start with a Thanksgiving sketch about everyone’s favorite holiday side dish… “It’s a New World Delicacy” Of course, Thanksgiving is great and all… especially when that one uncle with the confederate flag on his truck drinks a little too much and starts a good, healthy conversation about politics… but let’s face it, Thanksgiving only exists so that we can celebrate the holiday that really matters… Black Friday! Here are a couple of sketches that really highlight the pleasant memories of Black Friday’s past… “It’s More Like Brown Friday, You Know What I Mean?” “The Saddest Part of Black Friday” You know it’s time to really hit the holiday gas when Starbucks brings out their holiday cups. Really, how else are you going to know when to start drinking peppermint mochas and put a lid on the pumpkin spice for a year. That’s right, there has never been a year those cups didn’t completely disappoint and cause people to lose their damn minds. “Red Cups” Now we get to the part of the show that is all musical. I’ll just let these go uninterrupted. First up, we have a song about Santa Claus that may have been unexpectedly kinky, then we have another classic that features a celebrity that takes an already rape-y song and makes it more rape-y. After that, we have rock legend Don Henley send mixed signals with his holiday classic and that is followed up by an updated version of “The Grinch” which will likely give you reason to head to UrbanDictionary.com. “The Most Unintentionally Inappropriate Christmas Song of All Time” "Baby It's Coz In Here" “Don Henley’s Most Personal Song Ever” “How The Grinch Stole Innocence” Hopefully all of those wonderful songs got your toes tapping and your voices all prepped, because one of the best things about the holidays is accosting your fellow neighbors with your unprepared voices to regale them with songs that you likely don’t know while they keep their front doors open to the bitter cold. That’s right, caroling! “Carols of the Dumbbells” What is Christmas going to become in the future? Well, we know one thing that will never go out of style… nostalgia. What is nostalgia going to look like in 2036? Kids will be just as disappointed as they are now. “Christmas Nostalgia from the Future” Well, that concludes Sketch Comedy Podcast Show’s End-of-Year One-Hour Holiday Special. I hope you have had a fun time listening, had a wonderful year and have all of your loved-ones near and close to you. Stay warm and enjoy eating all the goodies! I look forward to bringing you more interesting people having intriguing conversations and then improvising comedy sketches based on what we talked about next year and hopefully many years afterwards. As a special special bonus, after the end credits there is a song performed by former co-host Alisha Holland where she purposely does a horrible rendition of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas”. https://www.youtube.com/embed/oXp0k5hGXGA Jarrod Haning eventually came out of the closet… the closet that he would practice in for thousands of hours with his violin, on a journey to become a symphonic concert violinist. At one time, he was putting people in homes and making them so happy that they would praise him on the national news programs. Now, Jarrod helps people, like you or I, find our groove and double our income by reading our minds! Sort of. Jarrod uses a Nobel-nominated process called mind-scanning that helps uncover and unlock your true potential at Mindset Performance. I am in the middle of going through this process now and it is amazing. You can get a free mind-scan and consultation by going to minsetperformance.co! We talk about Jarrod’s craziest concert wardrobe-malfunction experiences, how he followed in the path of a barely-literate person and made tons of money, and power tools. Power tools! Mind-scanning is pretty incredible and you can experience mind-scanning for yourself for free thanks to a special link for Sketch Comedy Podcast Show listeners! You can get a mind-scan and a consultation with Jarrod himself to figure out the results. It takes a surprising little amount of time, and the insights are just mind-blowing. Go to mindsetperformance.co and take the 5 minute mind-scan and schedule a call with Jarrod! 2-Minute Tip: Don't Squander Water Cooler Talk After winning or losing a big sale in a store there's tendency to brag or vent to colleagues around a literal or metaphorical water cooler. It happens after a big talk, too. We celebrate the brilliance or decry the stupidity of an audience. Don't. It's not effective. It won't help you win or save more sales in the future. And it has the tendency to hurt morale and reinforce negative -- and counterproductive -- attitudes. Instead, take that time to dissect the talk or sale. What went well? How can you do more of that in the future? What didn't go well? How can you avoid doing that again? And learn how can you share those lessons with others. That speech you just did is in the past. It's gone. It now time to learn lessons from it and get ready for the next talk. Post Tip Discussion Stuart Rice and I have similar paths, separated by a few years. We both started out selling consumer electronics before transitioning over to the vendor side of retail, and then joining or creating other educational initiatives to help others. Key skill that are helpful in retail are also helpful in public speaking. You have to learn about your audience. You have to connect with your audience. You have to bring your audience on a metaphorical journey with you. You have to focus on what's in it for them and why they should care. And storytelling is a key part of it all. Bio Stuart Rice has 24 years of experience in sales, purchasing and management focusing on strategic growth. In his career, Stuart has helped companies multiply sales by revamping their current strategies and introducing new concepts that increased customer traffic and created new experiences for customers and salespeople alike. Training is his passion and Stuart looks to use his experience and ability to communicate to share his knowledge, ability to critically think through problems, and use real-world scenarios to develop processes and strategies that can promote growth with individuals and institutions alike. In addition to professional training, Stuart’s other pursuit is comedy, specifically sketch comedy, on the very accurately named “Sketch Comedy Podcast Show” a one-of-a-kind show where interesting people have intriguing conversations and then improvise a comedy sketch based on what was talked about. The fact that Rusty Diamond is a 170 pound professional wrestler is pretty interesting… but the fact that Rusty is also a hypnotist? That’s some next level interesting! Rusty is a member of DOA Pro Wrestling as well as ECCW Wrestling and has had the pleasure of playing the face (a good guy) as well as a heel (the bad guy). He has also been a stand-up comic and, most recently, a hypnotist. We talk about identity crisis in pro wrestling and how Rusty found himself drawn to entering the ring. We also talk about doing stand up, and how it compares to wrestling, and Rusty talks about doing crowd work on the stage. Then, and probably the most interesting, is Rusty’s entering into the foray of hypnotism. You read that right, hypnotism and why he chose that as a vocation. Both of us are really into floating in sensory deprivation tanks also… maybe we should have recorded in one of those… At any rate, you can check out Rusty’s hypnotism on his website: hypnosisisgreat.com. If you suffer from anxiety, fear, depression, athletic enhancement, or would like help with stopping smoking or losing weight, Rusty offers treatments that are on a sliding scale. I know that there are a lot of skeptics out there, but for what Rusty is charging and even if there were mild improvements in your life, it would be well worth it. In fact, to make it more worth it, he is offering the first 15 minutes of your session for free! Just mention “Sketch Comedy Podcast Show” when you book your appointment! If you are interested in Riana’s services, she is offering listeners of Sketch Comedy Podcast Show a FREE initial consultation on LOVE! Who doesn’t need that?!? Just go to bit.ly/SCPSrianamilne to sign-up! I love talking about relationships. I talk about them all the time, and I am always curious about them… which is why this week’s guest is so intriguing! Riana Milne was told at a young age that no one in her family was ever going to go to a therapist, so she did exactly what every strong-willed child will do… she BECAME a therapist. Not just any therapist either, Riana became an expert in relationships and how to hopefully fix them, or learn how to move on from them. Riana is also an author of 7 books, including “Love Beyond Your Dreams - Break Free of Toxic Relationships to Have the Love You Deserve” which is a best-seller on Amazon (https://amzn.to/2RmqwUd) and helps couples and individuals navigate the world of successful partnering on her website: www.rianamilne.com. In fact, she is so generous, that she is offering free advice, tools and even an initial consultation to free for us in Sketch Comedy Podcast Show Land! Super nice! Riana and I talk about relationships, which should be pretty obvious, but we also talk about her dad who was a spy. No, seriously, he was a legit spy, like James Bond, and the stories are INCREDIBLE! We also talk about the 10 types of childhood trauma that you no doubt have experienced and somehow Riana and I find a way to make it lighthearted and fun! Then, we record a sketch because isn’t that the whole point of this show? The magic of this recording continues as we listen to Bob go through a list of really crazy sketch ideas and opt to do something about AC repair, which is what Houston is really known for (evidently, there is literally a very serious push to have a 100-foot statue erected to Willis Carrier, the inventor of air conditioning, to be erected in Houston. https://www.houstonchronicle.com/local/gray-matters/article/Houston-needs-a-100-foot-statue-of-the-man-who-5830181.php) We then record the sketch… which is about air conditioning repair. Super important, and we praise those that can fix air conditioners to high heaven when they come and fix our issues, but it is super competitive in Houston and it really brings out the competitive spirit in advertising. We get to hear a number of examples. And do not forget, please go check out their brilliant satire, or parody, or satarody of true crime “The Wheels of Justice” at https://NRQpodcast.com! It is well worth the listen and subscribe and rate their podcast while you do it as well! Also, if you loved this, please go back and listen to the conversation with Bob and Zipp as well at https://scps.fireside.fm/nrqpodcast. Welcome to Season 3 of the new Sketch Comedy Podcast Show! Thank you for sticking around through the hiatus where I really didn’t do very much podcasting, but spent a great deal of time not doing any podcasting! But, we are back! And this one is a doozy! I invite Bob and Zipp of the “No Redeeming Qualities” podcast to come on the show and do their brand of humor… it was a unique experience… I was actually a little worried that this was suddenly going to go careening out of control and I was not going to be able to keep it on the rails; but somehow it all worked out and dammit if it isn’t a ton of fun to listen to! “No Redeeming Qualities” is a podcast hailing from Houston, TX and started with one goal in mind: the hosts never shut the fuck up as long as what is being said is funny. I suggest you check out any of the episodes, these two are high-energy and never let off the gas and every episode is a new and delightful experience. (https://nrqpodcast.com) The big news is that Bob and Zipp are releasing a “True Crime” podcast called “Wheels of Justice”, which comes out January 7th. So make sure to listen in and make it a hit… because it’s true crime and, let’s face it, these are the only shows that are making it right now. Again, make sure to subscribe now to have it hit your feed on January 7th! Listen to the end of this show to hear the trailer for this awesome new show! We talk about so many things! Some things are regrettable. #squirtrussell. Real mermaids or reverse mermaids? Think about that. Hipsters and their origins. AC repair and a shrine to HVAC. Nike and Colin Kaepernick and who wins. Why birds are the worst pets. Podcasting and why do we actually do it (answer: no one really knows why podcasters do it, not even themselves). Why social media sucks. We do love our fans… we do, really! No matter what we say. NRQ had Ewe Bol on their show because Mr. Bol wants to box Alex Jones. That sentence now exists. What is your dream? The origins of the Astrodome. Pancakes in the butt… how would you do it? We ask all of the important questions. Bob and Zipp did “Squid Week”, which is different from “Shark Week” because it is a different animal. And next episode you get to hear the sketch we recorded! Watch the sketch on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/embed/KroQgzw62y0 Ronny Pascale has been bi-coastal and is really focused on poop. I don’t know why those two things are connected, or why this makes Ronny interesting, but it was a fun conversation to be sure! Ronny has the podcast “Shit Show: The Poopcast” (The colon is pronounced) where he has conversations with other comedians about bowel movements. Yup, you heard that right… the show is reaching new heights for content. Actually, Ronny and I do not discuss our excremental adventures (although, we all have stories, am I right?) but we do discuss his trek from Manhattan to Long Beach, CA which, instead of taking a convenient plane ride, Ronny decided that a 96-hour train ride would be a waaaaaaaay better option. Ronny and I also discuss online dating, because I wanted to get a perspective with someone who has seen both sides of the dating country. We also get to learn that Ronny was once the subject of an article about online dating and, well, it wasn’t flattering. Make sure to follow Ronny on Twitter, he is absolutely hilarious, and you can do so @ronnypascale. You can also book him to come be funny for you at ronnypascale@gmail.com. You can probably see him doing stand-up around Los Angeles, although I’m sure occasionally he sits down as well. About this week’s sketch: Dating is fun. What isn’t funny is that first date, that is some serious business. If you decide to do something like coffee or happy hour, the object of your affection might be underwhelmed and just bolt. If you decide that dinner is the better option, then you might be forced to pay for an expensive meal with someone that you do not really enjoy spending time with. If you decide to go on an all-day hike, you have to actually go and hike and exercise is lame. Whatever you do, you might want to think twice about planning something too grandiose, or you might end up in a situation like this one… Did you want to show your support for the show, and look awesome at the same time? Well, you can! You can now purchase merchandise with the Sketch Comedy Podcast Show logo all over it! Got a suggestion for a shirt? Shoot it over and we can make it a reality! Just go to http://bit.ly/SCPSmerch and take a look at our wears (see what I did there?) If you haven’t noticed, it’s taking me a lot longer to get episodes out. So, as an adjustment to the release schedule, I will be releasing new episodes every 2 weeks going forward and on the off weeks I will be putting out classic sketches. That also means more time to enjoy the episodes of your favorite guests! Maybe next episode might catch your fancy, I have Sébastien Roger de Nuñez, which I have no doubt fumbled in saying. Sébastien knows how to speak 12 languages and teaches improv all over the world. It’s a great conversation and a funny sketch as well! Special Guest: Ronny Pascale | Poop emoji and Associate Artistic Director of The People’s Improv Theater.

This week Jason is joined by one of the longest running segment contributors and frequent guest, Mike Canestaro. They talk about Mike's various segments, a crazy incident involving both of them after their last podcast together, Jason's recent appearance on the Sketch Comedy Podcast Show as one of Mike's former clients and more. There is a reverse prank call by Eugene Mirman and a Fake Advice for New Comics segment by Dave Nelson. After the break, Jason is joined by the owner of Beernuts Productions, gough. He is the only blind man to write, edit, produce, direct and star in a feature film unassisted. They talk about gough's most recent film, "The Environment: The Real Truth", his time doing stand up comedy and more. Wanna contact the show? This week Jason's guest got sick right before they were going to record but don't you worry, there's plenty of stuff on this episode. There are a few announcements about what to expect from the show next month, like a famous Michigan resident who is upset with Stu for singing the song last week and wants him on Marshall Law as well as the Feast of Friendship. He also talks about next week's Halloween episode and you don't want to miss that! After getting emails that the bonus content from last week's episode of Marshall Law wasn't included in the show, Jason has decided to put it out on the second half of this episode. There are also songs by Chad Neidt that is a cover of the Ghostbusters theme song as well as Epic Rap Battle of History's Jim Henson vs Stan Lee. Wanna contact the show? Watch the ENHANCED Version of the sketch on YouTube Here: https://youtu.be/ndzS5vZjBKs You have, no doubt, seen her acting skills in such movies as “Bikini Jones and the Temple of Eros”, “Cleavagefield” and “The Hills Have Thighs”. You haven’t? Are you sure? I’m pretty sure that you have had that night where nothing else was going on and you put HBO, Cinemax or one of those and caught a glimpse of this week’s guest Rebecca Love. Rebecca is an adult film actress who has been in over 60 films as well as guest appearances on Howard Stern. These days, she is more into doing other types of performances, such as stand-up and improv and has her own podcast called “Talking Dirty” where she and Joclyn Stone talk about the adult film industry. Don’t bolt to go listen yet, this show is pretty outstanding for that as well, and you can get a link to Rebecca’s show at the bottom of the show notes. If you need a visual enhancement to your sketch listening, you can head over to this upstart website that is good for moving pictures… it’s called YouTube or something. Anyway, if you type in “Sketch Comedy Podcast Show” in the search bar, you can subscribe to the channel there and get notified about all of the new ENHANCED versions of the sketch! What makes it enhanced? Well, these videos actually have pictures that go along with and make the sketches funnier! Give it a shot! In fact, the sketch for this week is one of these enhanced videos so if you love it, please click “Subscribe” and let me know you want more! Remember the first time you got behind the wheel of a car? It’s such an exhilarating experience, much like the same feeling one gets with a first sexual experience. Sometimes those things go hand-in-hand… and yet somehow cell phones are the worlds worst thing in a car. Every week I like to suggest a different podcast to listen to after this one. This week, I’m going to suggest a podcast called “Escape Pod”. “Escape Pod” was one of the first podcasts that I originally downloaded onto my cool, pack-of-gum size iPod Shuffle back in the day. I love this show, because it brings really good, really cutting edge science fiction, my favorite genre, in less than an hour. They have great authors and fantastic readers. This week’s episode is “Ms. Figgle-DeBitt’s Home for Wayward A.I.’s”; I have not heard it yet but you can bet I’ll be listening soon! Next week’s episode features a friend from a long time ago, Eric Ackerson, who is more than happy to completely embarrass me with stories from our youth… I would love to tell you not to listen but I have a feeling that now that I have told you how bad Eric makes me sound, you will no doubt listen in. It’s okay, it was time to lose this identity anyway. We welcome all suggestions, and we are always looking for new and interesting people to have on the podcast. Thank you so much for watching and listening, and please check out our other links for more information, interaction and overall fun! Thilo is someone that I happened to meet on a social media app called Shapr, which is a version of Tinder that focuses on business connections and not hook-ups, although I think I’ve had more luck finding dates on Shapr. Thilo is a social coach that helps people get over anxieties by pushing their comfort to it’s furthest limits, like if you had a fear of approaching people, Thilo might have you go up to a table in a restaurant and ask for a bite of someone’s food. He also makes coffee in his Vitamix, which is really cool and delicious! How do you like ads? Hate them? Me too. I would, however, be really interested in hearing from you! Here’s what I’m thinking: How do you feel about giving you the reigns to the podcast for 30 seconds? You could tell everyone a quick story, send out a message, create a personal ad, ask someone to marry you… just something unique right in this spot! There will be a “Buy Airtime” link on sketchcomedypodcastshow.com where you can see the rate card! Get your voice heard on Sketch Comedy Podcast Show! Pavlov found that behavior can be triggered in animals and in humans. For instance, we hear a dinner bell ring and all of us looks around and wonders who the hell is ringing a bell and what does it mean? Or if someone says “hey, let’s make a run for the border” and we instantly all get a stomach ache and diarrhea for the next couple of hours. Or the fact that everyone within earshot just rolled their eyes at this entire introduction. Each week I like to suggest a different podcast other than this one that I think would be a great idea to go check out. This week I am going to suggest a podcast called “Talking Dirty” starring Rebecca Love and Jocelyn Stone. It’s a podcast that talks about the sex industry, which we all are a little curious about, and it just so happens that Rebecca and Jocelyn are both just fun to listen to as well! Check out their podcast “Talking Dirty” https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/adult-film-star-network-podcast/id945146033] Links to the show on iTunes in the show notes. Oh, and speaking of talking dirty, Rebecca Love of the aforementioned podcast as well as many adult films will be the guest next week! How about that for a segue? I first became exposed to this week’s guest, Sean McCabe, through his website [seanwes.com] one night while searching for something to keep me from just quitting this show. I needed a boost, and after searching around on the web, Sean’s website came up and I signed up immediately: it was encouraging and driving at the same time, and the guy on the camera, Sean, was so relaxed and personable I couldn’t help but be convinced that I could continue doing this show and maybe even be successful at it. And you know what, things are going really well! Sean is now an author, and after finishing his book, “Overlap”, I can highly recommend going and buying it IMMEDIATELY! I would especially suggest the audio book, because his relaxed demeanor and positive attitude is really brought to life. You know what, I’m not doing a good job selling him, he does a much better job and I suggest visiting his website [overlapbook.com] to read more about him, buy his excellent book, sign up for his amazing online classes, and generally become a huge fan of him and his philosophy as I have. If you aren’t just a little inspired and excited after listening to Sean, I don’t know what it’s going to take. I would like to inspire you do do something though! I want to donate a bunch of money to the Hurricane Relief fund, but I need your help. I need you go to iTunes, Google Play, Stitcher, Overcast, Player FM…. Wherever you listen to podcasts and leave a review. A short one even. For every review I get I will be donating $1 to the Hurricane Relief fund, and I’m willing to donate a lot. So be generous with 5 minutes of your time to leave a review, and I will be generous out of my pocketbook! Do you ever order something off of the menu at a restaurant? You know what I mean, it’s something that sounds good, but it has mushrooms, and you hate mushrooms so you order the meal without the mushrooms? You’ve totally customized your meal, made it more suitable for yourself! Did you know you can do that almost everywhere in life? Any time you order something, a lot of times you can get it perfectly fit just for your needs and for your desires… and hopefully there isn’t any phlegm in it! Not sure if you know this or not, but Sketch Comedy Podcast Show wound up in the top 200 for Comedy Podcasts last week on iTunes! It was short-lived, but it was fun to see this show above Adam Corolla and Penn Jillette for a bit! I love to pay it forward and suggest podcasts from other people so that they can hopefully have the same thing happen. This week, I would like to suggest heading over to iTunes or your favorite podcatcher and downloading “The Dirty Bits” podcast. It’s a really fun show that explores all the dirty bits of history your teacher probably left out. The latest episode continues looking at the Tudors… there is a lot of dirty bits to explore here and the host, Tawny, does a great job doing so. Go check out the podcast AFTER you finish this one and hit the subscribe button, I think you will enjoy it! Next week, I have Thilo Savage, an interesting guy I met on a professional connection site (that’s Tinder for business), who specializes in getting people to step out of their shells and do bizarre things in public. Edward Noil is a fellow podcaster, independent wrestler and an amazing cosplayer. He never misses a con and never misses a chance to enthusiastically talk about his favorite things… which just so happen to be things that you would find at a conference focused on comic books or other things: anime, movies, Transformers… honestly, I loved talking to Ed because his enthusiasm for all things geeky is infectious. He speaks with the same fervor as my son, which in hind-sight would make a really great podcast on it’s own! Ed runs the “Points of Interest Podcast Network” [https://pointsofinterestpodcastnetwork.podbean.com] which focuses on all of the things that Ed loves and it’s a lot of things, there are 25 shows on the network! You know is wonderful? The updated YouTube channel for Sketch Comedy Podcast Show! Here is the best part, this is going to be the place where every sketch this show produces will be. Is your favorite part the sketches? Head to YouTube! You like seeing things while you are listening? Head to YouTube! Honestly, it’s pretty slick and there are no ads on there right now, so get on and you can listen to hours of comedy absolutely free. Head to [http://SCPSyoutube] to subscribe and start listening! Mistaken identity… ever experienced that? It’s really strange when someone mistakes you for someone else, because what happens if you just go with it? What sort of adventures would ensue if you just took this other person’s life and started living it? I can just imagine what that person would say if they ever found you mimicing them… you know, “Leggo my Ego!” I really like to promote other podcasts, and this is one that I really don’t need to promote because they already are doing incredible, but this week’s show to listen to after this show is “Jay and Miles X-plain the X-Men” [http://www.xplainthexmen.com]. I suggest starting all the way back to episode 1 and then getting a subscription to Marvel Unlimited so you can follow along with them. Not only are they really in-depth with their look at the most feared super-hero team, but they are also delightfully witty and are not afraid to tackle the topics that surround the mythos of the X-Men… racism, sexuality, robotic infections… all of it. Give them a listen and I am pretty sure you will thank me later. Next week, I am excited to say that I have Sean McCabe, author of “Overlap” on to talk about finding one’s passion and turning it into a day job. Hopefully I can follow in his footsteps, and so can you! My friend Kara Cooper joins the podcast. She is a photographer who does all sorts of really great pictures: wedding pictures, professional head shots, nudes. Lots of nudes. In fact, she has a book of nudes! It has a happy ending! Kara’s book is actually really beautiful, she invited people to really open up and try doing something a little beyond what they were comfortable with. I really like her photos and still plan on using her for my tasteful nudes (you will find out why on the show). If you have a wedding, need a headshot or portrait, want pictures of yoga or, as mentioned before, a nude, she can absolutely help you at [karacooperphotography.com]. By this time, all of the sketches from Season 1 should be on YouTube now! I know that some of you prefer just hearing the sketches, and I totally understand! So, the YouTube page for Sketch Comedy Podcast Show is the place to go and do that! There are playlists for Season 1, Season 2, and I will finally be putting all of the content from the original Sketch Comedy Podcast Show as well! How can you get there? Go to YouTube and search for Sketch Comedy Podcast Show or visit the website [sketchcomedypodcastshow.com] and find the “YouTube” link at the top! They say that eyes are the cameras to the soul. Or windows. I’m not sure I really understand the statement, but I need to put something in this place so that it looks like I care or something…… oh yeah, cameras. They are great for capturing moments! Sometimes people are really, really good at taking pictures, and will do it for other people who are not so good at it. We call those people photographers! It’s a good thing we have taste-makers, because if we didn’t could you imagine how horrible photography would be? Imagine a world where ANYONE could have a camera on them at all times and be able to share their terrible photos to everyone. What a nightmare that would be. Every week I like to suggest a podcast to listen to after you are done with this one. This week I… man, it seems like I have been offering a lot of nostalgia lately, anyway… this week I suggest “Radio Max FM”. Why do I suggest “Radio Max FM”? Well, it’s a pretty slickly produced podcast that combines elements of good, old-fashioned radio, independent rock and hip-hop and comedy, this is a great place to scratch that itch! It’s a brand-new podcast, so it will be fun to see how it changes over time! Go to [maxfm.libsyn.com] to listen, subscribe and more! Rose City Comic Con was this last weekend, which meant that there were a lot of people dressed up like a lot of things in Portland. So, next week, I have nearly professional cos-player and fellow podcaster Edward Noil on the show to talk about dressing up and how it ain’t easy being green. Mike Phirman is a fantastic songwriter of comedy music for kids (not kids music, HUGE distinction. Seriously). I have been a fan of Mike’s since I heard “American Dinosaur” and “Anything” with his band “Hard ’n Phirm” with Chris Hardwick, and saw him perform live here in Portland a couple of years ago with my oldest daughter (her first concert and she actually liked Mike more than headliner Jonathan Coulton, but don’t tell him that in case he is ever on this show). One of the things I really like about Mike is that he is really genuinely nice and was just so pleasant to talk to. Also, I surprise him at the end of the conversation, but he was a really great sport about it! Just to be clear, I was actually really nervous doing this recording, because I am kind of a big fan. Also, we recorded two sketches! The second one will have to wait until the end of the season, but there is something to look forward to! Make sure to check out Mike’s latest album, “The Very Last Songs I Will Ever Record (Part 1)” where you can get it on BandCamp for $5! ( http://music.mikephirman.com/album/the-very-last-songs-i-will-ever-record-part-1 ) you can also check out the amazing “Horses and Grasses” album he did with Chris Hardwick as “Hard ’n Phirm” ( https://itunes.apple.com/us/album/horses-and-grasses/id269730543 ) Do you like free money? I know you do, who doesn’t? How about a lot of free money? Look, I won my fantasy football league last year and yes, I’m using it to brag, but there is a much easier and less expensive way to make money… REVIEWS OF THIS PODCAST! And, not only am I planning on giving away money, we get to see who is actually the better fans… Apple or Google! How does all of this work? For the next week (that’s September 3rd to September 9th), for every review I get for this podcast on either Apple Podcasts or the Google Play store, I will add a dollar to a pot. At the end of the week, I will randomly pick a review from whichever side gets more reviews and send a gift card to that person for the amount of reviews that I get. Don’t fret, I’m planning on doing this multiple times and, if it is successful, I might just do it on a weekly basis! So share the links and let’s get some money flowing! If you are an Apple fan, go to: http://bit.ly/SCPSitunes If you are a Google fan, go to: http://bit.ly/SCPSgplay They descend from the heavens and awe us with their superior technology and bizarre mating habits, extraterrestrial beings (also known as aliens, but I want to make sure not to offend anyone, or thing, or in-between) will one day come and take their dominion over our planet. Sound bleak? It does now, because movies and media have all been doing a very good job of convincing us that aliens like to destroy buildings and do bizarre mating rituals. But in fact, if they were to really conquer the planet, aliens would target the one weapon that would finish us all… pop stars… then maybe do bizarre mating habits with them. Well, I don’t know if they will be great improvisors, but I can tell you that I mentioned winning my fantasy football title last year, and I had to add the hashtag #FootclanTitle because it was because of my listening to Andy, Mike and Jason of “The Fantasy Footballers” ( https://www.thefantasyfootballers.com ) that helped me make the right decisions for my draft, keep an eye on the waiver wire and, most importantly, kept me up to date AND entertained! These guys are great, give phenomenal advice and someday I even hope to get them on the show! If you are at all interested in fantasy football, or want to understand what all this crazy fantasy football hype is, this is a great place to start! I’m obviously very excited about this season of Sketch Comedy Podcast Show and another chance to win the coveted “Pattenburg” trophy again! Next week, in episode 32, I sit down with my friend Kara Cooper, a photographer that likes to take pictures of people with no clothes on and we discuss the decoration that I am going to be adding to my fantasy trophy. Hint: It does not involve pants. Sketch Comedy Podcast show is an independent and completely improvised sketch podcast that is based on conversations with interesting people like YOU! This week Jason continues bringing on guests who have meant a lot to the podcast over the past two years with Mike Canestaro. Mike has been on the podcast more than anybody over the past year besides Mama Kate and has supplied a wide variety of segments for the show. They start off by talking about Mike live streaming at home and at work, Jason playing Father Time in a sketch on the Sketch Comedy Podcast Show which hasn't been released yet, acceptable strip club food, a Texas man getting trapped inside an ATM and more! This week's segments are by Fake Advice for New Comics by Dave Nelson and "On My Own Terms" by Chad Neidt. Wanna contact the show? Watch the sketch on YouTuber here!: Humans do all sorts of weird things, which is why this week’s guest, Donal Connolly, creates his podcast “Behave Yourself” (https://itun.es/gb/RZRQhb.c ) to get them all figured out. With a little bit of psychology, sociology, anthropology… well, all the ologies, Donal and his co-hosts explore why we do the things we do. Also, he has an accent, which makes what he says more interesting and more believable. Yes, I fall prey to that. We talk about his educational endeavors, what it’s like to date overseas vs. here in the US, and then we record a sketch about all those things! Ladies and Gentlemen, it’s right around the corner. That’s right, Season 2 of the new Sketch Comedy Podcast Show is almost upon us, and we are VERY excited about it. To celebrate, we are going to have a review drive, so that we can get some serious review numbers and we can give away something really cool! We are also going to solve the question of which company is better… Apple or Google! At least we will solve the question of which listeners are better. For the week of the first episode’s release, whomever leaves reviews in Apple Podcasts or Google Play Store for our show has a chance to win a gift card for $100 for that particular store (or Amazon, or wherever you would like)! It’s a review! Hit the 5-stars, write something nice, and you’re entered! The winner will be announced on Sunday September 10th! I know, originally we were going to do charity, but I feel like people can use a little something for themselves, I’ll figure out the charity thing later. Here’s what I need you to do, write the review, take a screenshot of it on your phone, like our Facebook page and post the review on there, that way I know who you are! Thank you in advance for the reviews! Technology really does enrich our lives, regardless of what anyone says. Think of how much our lives changed when the wheel was invented… maybe that’s too far back, what about the radio. Originally created for to sole purpose to melt people’s minds from a distance for the military (I’ll find my sources later) Marconi found it was also good for beaming voices from one place to another. The radio allowed all of us to come together over a Little Orphan Annie radio show, experience sporting events we would only dream of being able to listen to in real life and eventually evolved into call-in talk shows and conservative talk radio! On second thought, maybe we would be better off without it… I like to talk about other shows, but in, like, a good way. So this week I want to highlight a show that was suggested to me called “Department of Understanding Humans”. (duhwebsite.com) Described as a podcast about life, the universe and everything I had to check it out. Though there are no posed questions to the answer “42”, there are a lot of jokes and funny things said. Honestly, I don’t know if they have solved any mysteries, but Rachel Reese and Kristian Meyer have guests on the show and talk about things. It’s a fun show and worth checking out AFTER you listen to this show! Next episode is going to be a best of. I really have to get to work on it, like, right now. On what was supposed to be last Thursday's episode, Stuart Rice from the Sketch Comedy Podcast Show is this week's guest. They start off by talking about the Sketch Comedy Podcast Show, Stuart's first and only stand up set, they talk about the Lovely, a This or That scenario, a San Diego brewery using recycled water to make beer, Monopoly changing some of their game pieces, they talk about making a G.I. Joe reality show cartoon about the characters after they leave the service, an engineer made a sex doll that requires foreplay and more! Follow Stuart on Twitter by clicking here. Watch the sketch on YouTuber here!: Stuart invites the nororious radio host Jim Greenfield onto the podcast. Jim has been fired from the radio 7 times, which is the same amount of times that Rush Limbaugh has been fired, the biggest difference is that Rush Limbaugh earns $32M a year. Jim is also a conservative talk show host, but has decided to give up on radio and start his own podcast, called “The Jim Greenfield Show Podcast”. Let’s see if he can become the first person ever fired from his own podcast. Although Stuart doesn’t agree with ANYTHING Jim says, it is still a good discussion. Note: The recording session had some technical issues (okay, Stuart’s computer ran out of power so they had to record on his phone) but it doesn’t take away from the interesting conversation. It’s going to be a great next couple of weeks! Stuart is working on the new episodes and is continuing to record with interesting people! Do you happen to know someone who is interesting? Suggest them! It’s easy, just send us a message on Twitter @SketchComPod or on Facebook (just look up Sketch Comedy Podcast Show) and you can suggest someone you would like to hear, even if you don’t know that person yourself. Or, even yourself! We here at Sketch Comedy Podcast Show really want to make the show you want to listen to, and your participation is key to that! About this week’s sketch: From ancient times to today, humanity has been guided by one thing and one thing alone. This thing has driven millions to make decisions based on the faith that humans hold in this influential force. Temples and places of great importance have been erected in celebration of this one thing that drives men and women and keeps them in-line with the rules and dogma that are taught them. Religion? Nah. The thing that really drives people… greed. Here at Sketch Comedy Podcast Show, we understand that you have a lot of podcasts demanding your time. And we have to say, you made a good choice with this one! But, if you need something else to listen to until the next episode is up, we suggest the “Bombs Away” podcast. Why? Because Jonathan, Kallan and Jarrett watch bad movies and then tear them apart. We are big fans of podcasts that allow us to know what is really dumb about things without actually having to suffer through them ourselves. Find them on Apple Podcasts or go to https://bombsaway.podbean.com See you in the next episode where I invite another Jim, this time author Jim Asbell, to come onto the show to talk about death and more religion… It is a LOT more fun than you think! This upcoming episode easily has the most jarring and shocking line ever! Watch the sketch on YouTube here!: Stuart invites his friend Katie BBB to the show and… holy shit it turns out great! We solve swamp ass, discuss artificial intelligence and how pissed off it will be when it awakens and realizes how much we have sexually abused them and foo foo bags… we will leave that to the episode to describe it. We then take all of that and create a sketch. Seriously, this might be @Stoopac’s favorite recording session. It was almost lost to the world, but somehow he found a way to hack his system to find the audio. It is good that happened, it would be a tragedy if this was lost to the world! Are you liking the show? Then stop sitting there twiddling your fingers or keeping your hands on the wheel safely, head over to Apple Podcasts (bit.ly/SCPSitunes) or Google Play (bit.ly/SCPSgplay) and leave a review now! We all know one thing, pregnant women are smug as shit. And why wouldn’t they be? Think about it, a woman and a bad, drunken decision can result in the miracle of child birth. Frankenstein tried to make life and see what happened? Frankenstein’s monster went on a murderous rampage killing most of those in front of him. That was a warning to us all, that we shouldn’t meddle in the laws of nature. Did you know that Sketch Comedy Podcast Show has a blog? You didn’t? Shame on me. There are neat little articles about being a guest, podcasting, and all sorts of things. This upcoming season, it is going to be a place where you can hear about each episode and how it was formed. Head over to sketchcomedypodcastshow.com and take a look! Next week’s episode is a really big fan favorite as I team up with The Sprocket Podcast and we have a really fun time recording in a travel trailer! Watch the sketch on YouTube here!: Stuart welcomes his friend and world traveler TJ Wichman onto the show. In his first meeting of TJ, Stuart knew that TJ was an interesting guy and he was not wrong. TJ has spent a lot of time circling the globe, knows a number of languages and has probably lived in whatever place you can imagine. TJ is also a big fan of reggae music and, quite honestly, is often the circle peg trying to fit into the square hole; but he is so disarming and interesting people are still drawn to him. Because of this, Stuart feels he is a kindred spirit. Stuart is definitely hoping to see TJ’s face on National Geographic because that’s where he should be. Have you subscribed to the podcast yet? If not, it’s a good time to do it before September 3rd. I know I’m hitting everyone really hard with reruns just trying to get all of the old episodes updated and up on the new site, but I’m really loving this new format and I hope you are too. While you are subscribing, if you could leave a review, that would be fantastic! Or, better yet, wait for September 3 to September 9 where we are going to do a review drive and Stuart plans on giving away a lot of money to a charity! Keep in touch for more details! And now, Sketch Comedy Podcast Show presents “Foreign Culinary Delight with TJ Wichman” Have you ever shared the show on Facebook, or retweeted the link on Twitter? Doesn’t take long and you might actually really make someone’s day if they are looking for something new to listen to! There are share buttons in iTunes, Google Play, and on our website sketchcomedypodcastshow.com. It’s fun, easy, and you will absolutely help save an endangered species. What’s the connection there? Chaos Theory. Can I explain it? No. If I could I probably wouldn’t be making this podcast you should share with all of your friends. The next episode features Aaron Ryder, a friend of mine, who has a story that is sort of like “Pretty Woman” but is a lot more twisted and scary! You’re going to love it! Watch the sketch on YouTube here!: Alisha comes back and does a recap of 2016. We talk about people dying and how Stuart thinks it’s kind of ridiculous that people get all worked up about when someone dies. The sketch reflects how ridiculous our obsession with this is. As we get closer to the launch of Season 2 of the new Sketch Comedy Podcast Show, I offer a challenge! What is better, Apple or Google? iOS or Android? Blackberry or Windows Phone? Just kidding. Actually, here is what the challenge is: If you are an Apple device user, go on to Apple Podcasts or iTunes and leave us a review. For every review posted September 3 to September 9 I will donate $1 to a charity. If you are a fan of Google and Android leave a review on the Google Play store and I will donate $ to a charity. How do we determine the charity? Whichever side wins this battle of the internet forever, a random reviewer will be picked and the entirety of the donation will be given to that person’s desired charity in their name! How easy is it to make this donation? All you have to do is go on and review! Costs you nothing and you help make the world a better place! Watch the sketch on YouTube here!: This was an interesting episode! What makes it interesting? Well, it was the first time Sketch Comedy Podcast Show made it onto the radio (okay, the first and only time), the final product was played at a fundraiser in front of over 100 people (and yes, it got laughs), and the entire thing was recorded and edited in one day for a podcast competition. It was also recorded, then lost, by yours truly and so I had to rerecord and re-edit the entire thing twice. It was may stressful, but the end result was fantastic! My guest on the show is Tom Flynn, who was at this same competition with me. Tom is interesting in many ways; not only was he the oldest person in the room but he is also over 70 and decided to leave his incredibly successful career to START SOMETHING COMPLETELY NEW! AT 70! It was mind-blowing! Also, he had been in the military and actually had to write to President Richard Nixon to get out of the military. Just awesome stories from Tom, and it was a lot of fun presenting this to everyone at the fundraiser! Speaking of fundraisers… I am not going to be asking you for money. I’m not looking for funds, I’m looking for reviews. So, if you don’t mind, get over to Apple Podcasts, Stitcher, Player FM, TuneIn Radio, or wherever you listen to this crazy podcast and please leave a favorable review. I want to read your review on the air! How about this: the first 5 people to do a review on the show will get a clever, handwritten “Cards Against Humanity” card from me. I’ll customize it and make sure that it is hilarious! Just send me an email with which review is yours and your address and expect something really messed up on a card! Watch the sketch on YouTube here!: You know what you need in the middle of the summer? More Christmas! This week’s guest is Joe Zuko, who is an increasingly popular author of “The Infected” series of books (which is, unlike so many other of the other books released these days, about zombies. To be fair, this is a really good and really entertaining series of books that I highly suggest. Joe is a close friend of Stuart’s and was the other co-host of the “Shotgun and Scotch” podcast along with the guest from the 6th episode of this podcast Josh. This episode is a lot of fun and the sketch maybe ran on a little long, but I loved it. Okay, so one of the things I absolutely love is social media. No, really. I know, it sounds like I’m being sarcastic, but I REALLY love social media. Actually, I do. It’s fun when it is working! And how do I define social media working? Connection and conversation. So, if you like to social media, we have three really great ways to interact right now! Okay, two ways to interact right now and one I am trying to get my mind around. However, if you like connection (and I know you do!) here are the best ways to do that with Sketch Comedy Podcast Show! Listen to the sketch on YouTube here!: Hey Everyone! This week’s episode features Kelly Guimont (@verso) who is a tech journalist, fellow podcaster and also one of the heads of an organization that I absolutely adore: App Camp for Girls. App Camp is a summer program for young women for the sole purpose of teaching them how to code… with no boys allowed. You can learn more by going to appcamp4girls.com and I wish very much that I would have forced my daughter’s to go. Unfortunately, they are both too old now, but it’s not too late for your daughters. I’m just a rotten parent. I’m getting super excited about season 2 of the new Sketch Comedy Podcast Show. I’m still looking for guests, so if you know someone, are someone, or can think of someone you don’t know that you feel would be great on the show, let me know! I need to contact 100 people in the next couple of weeks, aspirational guests from many walks of life, and wonder if I can get some help on people to do this show with. I have some really great guests coming up and I look forward to those recording sessions. And now, episode 12 “Everyone Loves the Goonies!” Sketch Comedy Podcast show is an independent and completely improvised sketch podcast that is based on conversations with interesting people like YOU! Watch the sketch on YouTube here!: Alisha comes back (or forward, depending on how time works for you). She’s fun, she co-created the original show, blah blah blah. First off, apologies for the apparent vacuums that are coming out of our faces. This was an episode where the technical difficulties definitely overwhelmed us, which is why this is kind of a lost episode. For some reason, Alisha’s audio vanished, but after a lot of processing I was able to get it back. Why did I spend so much time on this? Because what a delightful conversation about Stuart’s anatomy, Alisha’s horrifying movie experience and more! Then, we use a thing that happened at one of Stuart’s daughter’s cheer competitions to come up with a sketch. Season 2 is going to be great! I’m really excited about it! So far I have assembled some pretty fun names and pretty interesting people. The season is going to start off with a great sketch with Mike Phirman of “Hard ’n Phirm” fame. There are a number of songs of theirs that I absolutely adore, especially “Anything” It is one of the most inspirational songs I have ever heard… for some. New season debuts September 3rd! Just in time for back to school! In celebration of @Stoopac’s daughter, @aleyriice going to the Cheerleading National Championships (#NotSoHumbleBrag), we revisit an episode that was lost about a year ago! During one of the competitions from a couple of years ago, there was a team that competed using a cheer that included the phrase “white is our power” and then there was a whole Trump cheerleading thing that happened and… well… it resulted in this sketch. Alisha did a really good job coming up with cheers on the fly. When I think of the podcasts that really influenced me in starting my own, I have to look to the stars, and one of my favorite podcasts of all-time “The Improvised Star Trek”. I love this show so much. Follow the adventures of the USS Sissyphus and their fearless(?) Captain Julius Valentine Baxter as they traverse the universe on their 5 year mission to… um… I am pretty sure they have a mission, don’t they? Beam down new episodes to your phone and listen to the group improvise their way through an entire episode of Star Trek based on a show title they get from their audience. It is brilliant, and the sound design is fantastic as well. (http://www.theimprovisedstartrek.com) Next episode is the final re-release of the Summer ReRuns. I’m not going to lie, I’m glad I finally got a chance to remaster and reconfigure the show this way but I’m excited to get to the new stuff! Listen in next time to my parent’s favorite episode with Donal Connolly… it is super special because he has an accent! Watch the sketch on YouTuber here!: So this episode and the next episode feature Alisha Holland, because we had episodes we had recorded and never released. This one was full of conflict during the recording of the sketch, so if you like awkward silences filled with anger, make sure to stay past the credits! Though we were not connecting on the recording of this sketch, it turned out awesome! There is a YouTube channel we believe you should be visiting, and it’s the Sketch Comedy Podcast Show channel on YouTube! (bit.ly/SCPSyoutube) It’s kind of great, and getting better all of the time! Stuart is constantly adding new sketches (okay, constantly is maybe a bit far-reaching) but will definitely be encouraged to do so if there is some traffic! Visit sketchcomedypodcastshow.com for a link directly to our YouTube page where you can listen to individual sketches, recording sessions, and then complete shows! However you like to get your Sketch Comedy Podcast Show, YouTube has it! It’s not enough to run, these days you have to be able to track that you were running as well. What we are trying to say is, if I can’t share on Facebook, Instagram, or Twitter why would I do any physical activity at all? I just realized that Facebook, Instagram and Twitter spell FIT. How appropriate! Seriously, the only reason to do exercise, so I can exercise at other people and make feel like lesser human beings. “An unexamined life is not worth living.” was said by someone at some point, I would look it up but since no one is tracking how I use the internet, what’s the point of that?!? Can we talk about something? I want to talk to you about something called “natural ability”. Now, I personally have the natural ability to literally say the weirdest thing at the weirdest times. For example, I was talking to someone recently and she said “I imagine us like a mix between ’50 Shades of Grey’ and… um…” to which I replied “‘All Dogs Go To Heaven’?” Maybe I should work on my game. But I know of one man who has amazing natural ability to say lots of words that sound good together in complete stories that are really insightful, intelligent and, more importantly, downright hilarious! His name: S. Anthony. The show? The appropriately named “S. Anthony Says”… take a listen, you will not regret it. Next show is another Alisha show recorded long, long ago, like almost 2 years ago long, long ago. It is so strangely and eerily appropriate right now… Sketch Comedy Podcast show is an independent and completely improvised sketch podcast that is based on conversations with interesting people like YOU! Listen to the sketch on YouTube here!: https://youtu.be/RGJQnvKXOVM This is one of my favorite all-time sketches that Alisha and I did, I think it is fantastic and really just well executed. Sometimes some of my favorite humor is when a character gets into a really uncomfortable or awkward situation and sees his or her way through it, this is not one of those cases. Also, the punchline on this sketch was perfect. So we have finished migrating the podcast over to the new service, iTunes has been updated and now you can actually see our delightful artwork in Apple Podcasts and hopefully everywhere! That has been a thing I have wanted so badly for so long! Also, I want to really quickly read a review from someone and urge you to jump onto whatever service you are using and give us a quick 5-star review. If you do, I will absolutely read one at the beginning of every episode! I would really appreciate this, I would like to get at least 100 reviews by the end of summer, so I need one a day… you could be the one! Also, do you happen to have an amazon echo? If you do that’s great! You can actually just ask Alexa to play “Sketch Comedy Podcast Show and she will totally do it! And now onto Alisha and my discussion about spider gender and feces… totally classy! We also record a sketch about our deepest, darkest fears…. Muahahahahaha-ahem… enjoy this week’s show. And don’t forget to stick around after the show to hear us improvise the actual sketch! Zootopia is a remake of a classic sci-fi movie. Stuart gets attacked by a spider and then Alisha and Stuart try to figure out the spider’s gender. This episode was out of the space-time continuum, and should have been released before last week’s episode but go check that one out too because Dr. Kiki! Alisha did something called Questival which is a 24-hour scavenging hunt; Alisha learns how to become a true a**hole about it. Alisha officiated a wedding and did not sleep for 39 hours so she could legally kill someone; Stuart ruined said wedding and would have been a good victim. Summertime is terrible because kids require things. The sketch is fantastic. Pooping is never an option while sexy time, but sometimes it might be better than trying to race home. A smorgasbord of feces ensued. Forks should never be the tool one uses for plumbing. Alisha and Stuart decide the best upgrade for any toilet is a blender. The sketch this week taps into our deepest, darkest fears… you know, like an unreplied-to text. Listen to the sketch on YouTube here!: https://youtu.be/EmRV86iTXQc This week, we go back to the laboratory and try something different with the format of the show, as was suggested by friend of the show Jason Marshall (@jasonmarshall2) who he himself has a great podcast called “We Don’t Have Cookies” (URL) which Stuart has actually had the pleasure of being on (you can listen to that episode here: URL). So we are going to call this the Marshall Initiative and see if you like it better. I think it makes the most interesting parts of the show front and center and am pretty sure it will be a crowd favorite as well. We start off with the conversation between Alisha and Stuart. Stuart gets offensive in the introduction. Alisha went to the coast to a casino for her birthday played the inside and won! But still won’t put any money into the show. Stuart should never play craps because he causes people a lot of pain. Stuart is “huggable” and he wants to cry. Alisha and Stuart agree that Paul Rudd is the ultimate; Alisha talks about her dream Rudd hug and Stuart feels sexually confused. Dane Cook… that’s all. Stuart teases the new format of the show… and look what happened! It’s really funny that we talk about formats and are still trying to figure it out. Alisha was depressed for her birthday and then went to a Bernie Sanders rally and took it upon herself to annoy other people by trying to keep them safe. Stuart went to a massage-a-tois event… listen to get info. Stuart won’t go to a nude beach by himself anymore because he had a REALLY bad experience and now understands why women don’t hang out at pools and beaches by themselves. Alisha reminds Stuart of how lickable his balls are and it reminds Stuart of another flattering story about them. Warning: There is a story about Stuart going to the nude beach and things go awry. We talk scales, like how people would superficially judge other people, and Alisha ranks Stuart above average; Stuart smartly doesn’t even approach this subject. The two play the “essence” game, which is just as pretentious as it sounds like. The sketch: As if it could be possible to become MORE superficial, the brilliant minds behind the Tinder app somehow find a way to get the app even more addictive… regardless of the effects on your soul. Listen to the sketch on YouTube here!: https://youtu.be/jP03Pas3jmQ Hey everyone! It’s the second episode! Once again I am lucky to have Alisha Holland on the podcast with me and we have a great time coming up with a sketch about childhood dreams gone awry. Also, you are invited to come and check out the new website! I love it! It’s a combination of the episodes, a blog, and it’s all wrapped up into a tidy little package. If you are thinking about starting a podcast and would like some tips, please go to the new website and contact me and one of the things I will suggest is finding the right podcast hosting company… I finally think I have done that. And now, enjoy episode 2 “I Want a Pony”: During the recording session, we talked about all sorts of good things like #DuckFetish #OnFappingPond and other things related to water fowl. Alisha gets older. Send us money, or send money to Bernie Sanders, either way, if you match Alisha’s age in money to either get at T-shirt! #HipsterEmo - The hipster that knows too much, and Stuart’s new Halloween costume. Alisha and Stuart converse about great bargain stores #BargainAlley. Alisha celebrated her birthday and played bingo. Stuart crumbles to peer pressure. There was almost a Dukes of Hazzard moment which leads to a weird interaction with a cop. A phrase that should never be used on a nude beach is discussed. Gross kid stories are discussed. Alisha believes John Cougar Mellencamp and Prince are the same person. She is going to LOVE that statement. STD checks make you a virgin again. The sketch recording is, quite possibly, the most tense and uncomfortable moment on the podcast… Join us for it! Childhood dreams are great, until they come to reality as adults. When we are children, we spend most of our days and hours just dreaming about two things: our birthdays and Christmas; unless you don’t celebrate those things. But for most of us, those are the two things we focus on. Our entire brain is consumed with magical visions of amazing gifts… and then we usually just get gift cards. Childhood is pretty dumb. Listen to the sketch on YouTube here!: Welcome to the first episode of Sketch Comedy Podcast Show! Well, not the first episode, but the first episode of the revamped Sketch Comedy Podcast Show. Catch the sketch alone on YouTube here: https://youtu.be/K5fFeNDQo So what changed? Well, we found out that people like to hear the discussions that lead to the sketches, so we decided that should be part of the show. Then, we decided that instead of doing four sketches in a week, we went with one a week. Lastly, it felt like it was time to start inviting other people to be on the show finally, so we decided to do that. Then, my partner on the podcast, Alisha, decided it was time to take a hiatus. It was a bit of a crisis, because I didn’t know what to do… suddenly I was forced to make a decision: Do I carry on and talk into a microphone on my own or do I wrap up the show and be done with it? Then, I realized that the show could exist, but it couldn’t be the same. It never really will be, and I really love the show Sketch Comedy Podcast Show was, but to be completely honest, I love this new version so much more. The reason? It’s about finding people, people who are not what you would normally expect to hear on a comedy podcast like scientists, lawyers, other podcasters, everyday people doing extraordinary things, and making them incredibly vulnerable by asking them to do something that terrifies most people: being funny. But somehow, they do it and it is fucking amazing. So join me in applauding the people who decided to take the plunge and do so gracefully and, more often than not, hilariously. As you listen, if you feel like you could do this and you are also an interesting person, please let me know! There is a spot on the website (sketchcomedypodcastshow@gmail.com) at the top that states “Be A Guest” (https://form.jotform.us/71530480274149) Click on it, fill out the form, and let’s start talking! This first episode, and there are a lot this season that continue to do so, stars the lovely, talented, and one of my best friends Alisha Holland. You will understand why she was so integral for the genesis of the show as you listen to this first episode and you will no doubt look forward to hearing her every time she is on the podcast. And now, enjoy episode 1 “One Night Stand” Alisha evidently really likes romance novels. Stuart no longer trust secondhand desks at work. Don't allow Alisha to housesit for you #OnOrOff. Alicia is the worst/best at Facebook. Spiders out your pee-hole or scorpions out your butt? Either way: #SpiderNudes #SpiderNudes! #ArachnoPussyPhobia! 911 dispatch sounds like a great way to find the next place to score. May the 4th might be the dumbest day for the dumbest jokes. Then, they finally record a sketch. We don’t want to drudge up any bad feelings or memories, but we’ve all had that night. You know, the night that you meet that great person at the bar and then you go and have a great time with that person, and then NEVER TALK TO THEM AGAIN? Actually, that doesn’t sound so bad, but sometimes the feelings are the hardest thing to get over… and the required testing afterwards. This week’s sketch explores those feelings afterwards and tries to find the answers. Yes, it’s me again – Marc Hershon – your host and commemorative beer stein for Epi130 of Succotash, the Comedy Podcast Podcast. And I got a passel of comedy podcast clips for you. Our ace associate producer Tyson Saner harvested some. I found a couple. And we got some uploaded directly to us from podcasters themselves, using the upload link at http://hightail.com/u/Succotash. Podquest If you think you have a cool idea for a new podcast, don’t keep it to yourself. I’m saying you should tell me about it either, but you’re going to want to hang in for my chat with Julie Shapiro, who’s the executive producer with the Radiotopia network — they’ve got a baker’s dozen of shows occupying podcastland, including 99% Invisible, The Memory Palace, Song Exploder, and Mortified. But they're looking for more and they want a show that no one is doing yet. So if YOU have an idea for a show, or are doing a show that’s been bumping around, cloaked in obscurity, Radiotopia is sponsoring Podquest, the search to find that show. Julie and I talk about the contest and how you can get your concepts in front of their ears. What's Up I’ll tell you whose clips we have on the show in a moment, but you should also know that we’ve got our Burst O’ Durst with political comedian and social commentator Will Durst. Our show's brought to you by Henderson's new Hooray For Hollywood Pants, and we have a dip into the Tweetsack, where we FINALLY Have a couple of recorded calls from our Succotash Hotline. Plus I’ve got Cursed, a really cool musical piece that Tyson put together using bits and piece from The Todd Glass Show. Our Associate Producer continues to amaze me with his talents. And we have a SECOND musical piece from our acapellanist, Abner Serd, who brings us a seasonally-appropriate tune called Joe Mann, the Self-Rolling Snowman. The Clips As for the actual shows that we’re featuring clips from this time around: Cave Crew Radio, I Am Rapaport, Local Ass Bitches, Loud & Obnoxious, Obsessed, The Potato Bureau, Russell & Mudtooth, The Sketch Comedy Podcast Show, and Spontaneanation. As a blanket thing, the podcasts that we get our clips from can be found at their homesites — click on each show's title to be whisked there instantaneously — as well as on iTunes, Stitcher, SoundCloud, and a number of other podcast distribution points on the World Wide Web. I Am Rapaport: Stereo PodcastI caught actor Michael Rapaport on WTF with Marc Maron this past week. You might know him from his work – he’s been in over 60 movies and TV projects, starting with Zebrahead through last year’s Little Boy movie. He had a great arc on the second-to-last season of TV’s Justified, too. He and his best friend, Gerald Moody, kick out fresh episodes of the I Am Rapaport: Stereo Podcast every week, or maybe it’s twice a week. Rap and G, as they call each other, shoot from the hip on a variety of topics. I actually met Michael years ago, when I used to hang out at the Improv in LA, because he did, too – his sister’s step-father was one of the owners. Anyone, he always seemed a decent guy and I like what he has to say on his p’cast. A word of warning if you don’t like profanity — Rap and G speak the language of the streets. Oh, and they also take a certain measure of pride in the fact that they don’t fact-check their spew. SpontaneanationTyson grabbed us a clip from Epi49 of Spontaneanation, the latest podcast from the brain of one of the hardest-working men in podcasting, Paul F. Tompkins. It’s a completely improvised show, with a rotating cast of guest friends and performers. On the episode this clip is from, Paul’s guests are Cameron Esposito, Shulie Cowen, Brandon Johnson, and Chris Tallman. I’m a big fan of Paul F. but then, who isn’t? Potato BureauOne of our upload savvy listeners is Corky Kneivel, he of the Potato Bureau podcast. This week he shot us a scene clipped from their Epi2, featuring Court Hansen as the guy getting his dishes back, Molly Doan as “Darren” (the screw up), Corky's playing Darren’s brother, with Michelle Petro is the security guard who — spoiler alert — gets killed. The way the Potato Bureau "gimmick" works is that the scenes are somehow inspired by each episode's musical guest, which is where the sketch in this clip sprang from…) Loud & ObnoxiousAnother clip that was uploaded directly to us this episode comes from the crew over at Loud & Obnoxious — Korey H., D-Brew, Producer Dave, and Halfpint. First off, how can you NOT listen to a clip featuring someone named Halfpint, right? They’re part of the MenRule Network. Here’s their description of their show that’s up on iTunes: “They are four guys that don't apologize for speaking the truth. Each week they discuss movies, news stories, beer, politics, and sports. They also have their intern, Halfpint, do things that he is very uncomfortable with including karaoke and talking to girls.” Sketch Comedy Podcast ShowTyson clipped us something from a recent epi of the Sketch Comedy Podcast Show, which is about as descriptive a title as you can get in a podcast title. Also maybe a bit misleading, as the description for the show says it’s “Lightly scripted and improvised.” The hosts are Alisha Holland and Stuart Rice and the show booms out of Portland, Oregon. ObsessedThis next clip was ripped from the Tweetsack, having been dropped in there by Sarah Meyer who writes “I really enjoy your podcast reviews and I hope it’s not taking a liberty, but I’d LOVE it if you could take a listen to a comedy podcast I co-produce — 'Obsessed with Joseph Scrimshaw.'" It’s over on the on the Feral Audio network. The title is a little deceptive because it isn’t a show about an obsession with Joseph Scrimshaw — he’s the host and he talks to guests about their obsessions. In this case, the obsession is podcasts and the guest is Dustin Marshall, the founder and maniac behind the Feral Audio network, host to such shows as Harmontown, The Duncan Trussell Family Hour and Obsessed with Joseph Scrimshaw. Also, this is Joseph’s 100th episode of Obsessed, so congratulations! Russell & MudtoothTyson clipped us off a hunk of the Russell & Mudtooth Show from the Radio Random Network. It features Russell Devlin McLain (or #RDM, as he’s socially mediatroducing himself these days), and Mudtooth. To me, “Mudtooth” is WAY more interesting a name than hashtag-anything, but maybe that's just me. This show drops every Friday and #RDM, who is a musician, tears up the country music scene, music in general, as well as sports, current events, etc., etc. with his pal Mudtooth. In this sample of the show, Mudtooth goes off on a tear about the most recent Oscars. Cave Crew RadioIn case you haven’t figured it out on your own, podcasters are not the only ones who can upload their clips to the show. If you are a LISTENER to a comedy podcast that you enjoy, you are cordially welcome to upload a clip, too! That’s exactly what Stuart Ramsden did recently when he uploaded us a chunk of Cave Crew Radio, which is great. Because who knows how long it have taken us to discover the hosts, DK and Big B on our own? And the show has been going for a tad over a year. (So way to take the inish, Stuart!) In this clip the talk is about Valentines and giving stuff up for Lent. Local Ass BitchesOur friend Davian Dent — host of the soon-to-be-defunct The Bitter Sound podcast and co-host of The Strange Times podcast — has sent in a promo of a show he enjoys: Local Ass Bitches, a comedy podcast I’d not heard before. Davian must really like the show, because he knows I’m not a fan of playing promos. He uploaded it directly to us via out Hightail link and he says, “Four best friends from Chicago talk politics, sex, dating and everything in between! Born, raised and living on the NW Side – Lisa, Manny, Nora and Rosa are the epitome of Local Ass Bitches, a term coined by one of their comedic favorites, Kevin Hart, which now has its own definition in the urban dictionary. They also win the Davian Dent Award for being the sexiest mofo's in podcasting...” That’s it, friend. The Succotash tank is empty for another week or so. You can help us to keep the show going by clicking on the Donate button at our http://SuccotashShow.com homesite. Or else go there and click on the Amazon banner at the top of the page And visit the Succotashery, also accessible though the website, where you can get some garments or other gewgaws festooned with the snappy Succotash logo. Even if you can’t afford to give us any of your hard-earned money, the least you could do it to tell your friends about our show. And, in exchange, I give you a hearty thanks for passing the Succotash! — Marc Hershon
Stuart and Alisha met about a year ago. It didn’t take long for them to realize they were not only funny individually, but REALLY funny together. So Stu said “Hey. We should put our funny together and make a podcast!”. To which Alisha replied “Huh?”. As they say, the rest is history.Visit the Sketch Comedy Podcast Show: www.ComedyPodcast.netDownload This EpisodeSupport the podcast:Like us on Facebook.com/CurmudgeonCafeFollow us on Twitter.com/CurmudgeonCafeSubscribe on iTunes or StitcherPledge your support for the Curmudgeon Cafe Podcast: www.Patreon.com/CurmudgeonCafeSign up for a free Audible trial: www.AudibleTrial.com/Curmudgeon
