That work ethic coupled with his ability to simplify even the most complex insurance jargon are what makes him invaluable to his clients. Since forming JAG alongside Douglas Jones and Fernando Alvarez in 2013, he has been determined to redefine the insurance experience. That innovation continues today as he leverages social media to create new business relationships and is now leading the charge in the integration of cryptocurrency within insurance. Learning a stellar work ethic from my family as they build an iconic restaurant chain throughout South Florida, I understand what it takes to build something from the ground up. That type of empathy is what drives my desire to help business owners expand their businesses by guiding them through their risk management needs. At JAG, I've been able to create a company that gives personable service while having the resources of a larger firm. We are well equipped to help any business protect its hard-earned assets. My other passion is showcasing the potential of the insurance industry to younger generations. I think the industry has done a poor job of showing the possibilities of careers insurance can offer. It's my goal to rectify this and get new blood into the industry and JAG be a hub of new talent. Mentorship is the best gift you can give to an industry or a community. The Upreneur podcast has partnered up with SCORE, hosted by Jeremy Straub, to help bring engaging conversations with today's top leaders and business owners. In today's episode, we spoke with Fahed about his experience before Mayv, how you need to find a partner with a complementary skillset, and when you are starting out, you need to figure out who is going to pay for your product before you build your business. Fahed Al-Essa is the co-founder of Mayv, a resilience-based holistic pain management solution designed for patients looking for a new approach to living and thriving in the face of chronic conditions. Launched in April 2021, it's a program that combines evidence-based stress and pain management approaches with plant-based anti-inflammatory supplements that tackle major aggravators of chronic pain, stress, and inflammation. In this capacity, Al-Essa's core responsibilities are maintaining company trajectory and vision, developing the internal and external values present and leading by example. He also oversees all financial and operational sustainability, sales & marketing initiatives, and customer outreach.Prior to founding Mayv, Al-Essa held esteemed positions at major healthcare companies and launched numerous wellness-related start-ups. His extensive background in science and healthcare coupled with his firsthand experience living with chronic pain and working with patients and professionals who know the challenges of these debilitating conditions, helped him to bridge the gap between conventional and complementary medicine to build a solution that patients actually need.In addition to personally suffering from chronic pain over the last two decades from a broken femur and three unsuccessful surgeries, Al-Essa's mother (and mentor), was diagnosed with five consecutive and different cancers over the span of five years. He felt the medical treatment was superb, but the mental health care she received was not. Her emotional wellbeing was deteriorating, and it was disheartening for him to see how little her medical team focused on an integrative approach, where mental and emotional care are on equal footing with cellular and biological health. He knew something had to change, and that's how Mayv was born.“At Mayv we plan to be the patient's companion in their medical journey, filling the gaps where the system falls short,” says Al-Essa. “We believe in a holistic perspective, and only when we address the patient's mind, body, and spirit are we creating a space to heal. We plan to tackle chronic pain, piece by piece – first with joint pain, and then into other critical health verticals.” Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/mayv.co/Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/mayv.co/Twitterhttps://mayv.co/Thank you for listening, and don't forget to share, rate, and subscribe! If you enjoyed today's episode and want to stay up to date with new upcoming episodes, subscribe to our podcast. We spoke about how Jordan's main goal when it comes to renting is to enhance people's lives with experience, happiness, or a combination of both. Giving back to the community has been a fundamental value to Jordan and he is not fully fulfilled economically or with his time. Jordan established Transcendent Investment Management in 2008 to lay the foundation for his vision of a data-driven real estate investment platform in the single-family residential space to capitalize on what he saw as clear opportunities created by the distressed U.S. real estate market of the time. After further developing his proprietary ERP solution, TIAS ResiPro ™, Jordan formed the firm’s vertically-integrated Build U.S. Back® line of companies as its operating platform to research, select, acquire, renovate, rent, and, at the right time, resell properties in-house; becoming the subject of a 2014 Harvard Business School case study entitled, "Build U.S. Back: Opportunities in the U.S. housing market."Prior to launching Transcendent, Jordan successfully formed and grew an international high-tech toy company in Hong Kong and China, which he sold in 2003 to return to the U.S. and co-found JL Real Ventures. The private equity fund assembled a portfolio of multi-family properties in the Southeastern United States.Jordan earned his B.A. in Hospitality Management and Finance from Florida International University, pursued graduate-level studies in real estate finance at Harvard University, and is a graduate of Harvard Business School’s OPM program. He served as a trustee on the Florida State Pension Plan Board, which oversees $127.8 billion in total assets, and currently serves on the Advisory Board for Aviator Capital Management, a full-service commercial passenger aircraft leasing and management firm based in Miami, Florida.Websitehttps://www.timgmt.com/Linkedinhttps://www.linkedin.com/in/jordan-kavana/https://www.linkedin.com/company/transcendent-investments-management/Thank you for listening, and don’t forget to share, rate, and subscribe! If you enjoyed today's episode and want to stay up to date with new upcoming episodes, subscribe to our podcast. The Upreneur podcast has partnered up with SCORE, hosted by Jeremy Straub, to help bring engaging conversations with today’s top leaders and business owners. In today’s episode, we spoke with Chris Gannon, CEO and Co-Founder of Bolay. We talked about how at a young age, Chris was able to receive experience in the food industry because his dad, Tim Gannon, owned Outback Steakhouse. He was able to use that experience to his benefit and create Bolay. To really make his business work, he took notes from each restaurant he visited and wrote down the concepts he enjoyed about them, the music from one, the service from another, etc. He believes the best feedback to making your business better comes from your team members on the frontline. They are the ones who know what obstacles customers face and what needs to be fixed for a better experience.Chris Gannon, CEO and co-founder, along with his father, Tim Gannon, listened, researched, taste-tested, sought the right talent and experimented with the right ideas to bring about the boldest, freshest brand in the fast-casual dining market.Through his years of experience traveling the world and tasting international cuisine from professional’s kitchens and friendly homes, Chris Gannon knows what makes great flavors. By listening to what people wanted and craved from their food, he came to understand what the restaurant scene urgently needed: a brand that believed in excellent food that fuels an amazing lifestyle. Therefore, Bolay was created as more than just another fast-casual restaurant. It was borne from the belief that the “fast” and the “casual” can be the extraordinary and nutritious. Bolay’s business model, vision and mission is rooted in the same dedication to excellence that motivated Chris as an entrepreneur, a student of business and cultures, and to become the second youngest person to win the US Polo Championship. It’s also paired with a spirit of fun that guests feel as soon as they walk in. The word Bolay itself combines the signature dish, the bol, with “olay” to evoke the excitement around the brand, good health and great living.Today, the Gannon’s are elevating the business by embracing the wholeness of food well before the plate hits the table. “The Bolay Way” is one that is meant to invite and inspire. Quick and delicious is provided with consideration of everything that makes food great – community, health, passion, flavor and service.Websitehttps://bolay.com/Facebookhttps://www.facebook.com/EatBolay/Twitterhttps://twitter.com/BolayInstagramhttps://www.instagram.com/bolay/Linkedinhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/bolayrestaurant/Thank you for listening, and don’t forget to share, rate, and subscribe! If you enjoyed today's episode and want to stay up to date with new upcoming episodes, subscribe to our podcast. You want to find someone who has a growth mindset and is also open to new ideas and communication. She also mentioned that in order to scale your brand, you need to leverage your network and their network. This will help you find the right people to scale your business. The creation of Lovevery began with Jessica, Rod and an idea.Jessica- Passionate about giving babies the best and healthiest beginning in life. As founding partner, she helped to build Happy Family into a top organic baby food company. Confident that she was giving her babies the best nutrition, she started to become curious about what each of her three children’s brains were craving.Rod- A builder of companies and movements with environmental and social impact. He was masterful at making things happen and generating results. Meanwhile, Rod was experiencing fatherhood times two, with his twins!Jessica and Rod have known, trusted, and respected each other for many years. Rod is married to Andrea, Jessica’s life long best friend. The idea behind Lovevery began after Jessica read a doctoral dissertation titled Current Research Findings on the Neurological Development of Infants. Through reading the study Jessica learned that the human brain has about 100 billion nerve cells, all of which are present at birth but have few links between them. Babies brains develop by constructing an intricate communication network. The network’s structure is formed by experiences children have in the first 3 years of life. The research revealed the more you expose babies to how the world works, the richer the neural networks become. Jessica’s takeaway was that early development experiences wouldn’t just happen on their own, she had to create them. Jessica wanted to share what she had learned with other parents. This desire gave her the idea to create a second baby company, this time focused on brain development. The hard part would be bringing that idea to reality, she would need help. The moment that Rod said that he would co-found the company, it all became real!Jessica and Rod created Lovevery, a company that offers products and information which help create developmental experiences in the lives of new babies and families. Lovevery helps parents feel confident that they are giving their little ones just what they want and need every step of the way.Websitehttps://lovevery.com/Instagramhttps://www.instagram.com/lovevery/?hl=enFacebookhttps://www.facebook.com/Lovevery/LinkedInhttps://www.linkedin.com/company/lovevery/Thank you for listening, and don’t forget to share, rate, and subscribe! If you enjoyed today's episode and want to stay up to date with new upcoming episodes, subscribe to our podcast. Keir Dillon is a former professional snowboarder widely regarded as one of the world’s best riders in the sport. He is also a noted media personality, serving as a television host and sideline reporter for ESPN, X Games, and Fuel TV. We learned more on how she accumulated 10 times her revenue year to date with 5 months left in the cycle, her growth due to her self learning and quick reaction to obstacles, and how growing a business with your spouse can be rewarding and challenging.Millennial entrepreneur Andrea Lisbona is setting out to disrupt the stale hand sanitizer industry, which is projected to grow to $5.95B globally by the end of 2021 (more than a third of that industry is in the United States). Inspired by innovators such as Steve Jobs & Emily Weiss who married great function with great design, Andrea developed Touchland, a revolutionary brand of hand sanitizers that combine sleek, functional packaging with non-sticky, moisturizing and luxurious-feeling formulas that come in eight amazing scents. Lisbona ran a Kickstarter campaign in July 2018, which resulted in the brand reaching 450% of its initial fundraising goal and more than 1,300 pre-orders for the product in just one month. By the time the brand officially launched in November 2018, that number had increased to more than 1,500 people on the waiting list. Since their launch, Touchland has enjoyed 20% MoM revenue increases (thanks to their successful social media and digital marketing strategies) and is gearing up for the next phase of their business: the launch of a B2B product for high-traffic locations, retail distribution and more. Andrea is originally from Barcelona and relocated to Miami in 2018 in order to oversee the growth of Touchland from the US. In today’s episode, we sat down with Jeff Ransdell, Co-Founder of Rokk3r Fuel, and talked about how the world is changing rapidly and technology is at the forefront of this change, so everyone, including the government, small and large businesses must invest in technology. Jeff Ransdell is a venture capitalist building a portfolio of exponential technology companies at Wynwood Arts District-based venture capital firm Rokk3r Fuel, which he co-founded in 2017 following a departure from the world of private wealth management. Jeff approaches venture capital with a signature “founder focused, investor driven” mindset, shaped by two decades as a top executive of Bank of America Merrill Lynch. As a managing director and market executive of the financial powerhouse, he managed more than $130 billion of global private client investment assets, a P&L of $2 billion, and over 2,000 employees across the bank’s Southeast Wealth Management Division. His transition to venture capital was motivated by what he saw as mounting evidence that opportunities to shape the economy and capitalize on innovation were steadily shifting from the public markets to the private markets. In the face of much skepticism, Jeff chose Miami, Florida, as the home base for Rokk3r Fuel, armed with an unparalleled rolodex and emboldened to leverage the city’s untapped resources and advantages. Rokk3r Fuel currently manages a $200 million fund and has a portfolio of more than 20 tech companies, including PredaSAR, Soundtrack Your Brand, Taxfyle and Bolt Mobility.[1:04] Jeff runs a large venture capital firm. [3:51] what this crisis has highlighted from the gap perspective is that there is a tremendous amount of need to get upgraded from a technology perspective. [9:45] if you are a C.E.O of a major cooperation, your Job is to maximize share hold stock price.[10:17] when you think about venture capital, you are investing in a company that you believe as an investor is going to fill a gap in a major cooperation strategy. [21:37] you need to understand who your audiences are. [23:48] there are three things people hold close to their hearts, one is their family, one is their health, and one is their money. [23:57] when you are giving the opportunity to participate in one of does three things, you have to do it right. [24:14] our mantra is “Investor driven and founder focused” but it all starts with the investor, because without the investor none of these companies exist. The Upreneur podcast has partnered up with SCORE, hosted by Jeremy Straub, to help bring engaging conversations with today’s top leaders and business owners. On today’s episode, we sat down with David McKinnon to get his insight on how being a franchisee is a safe business investment, how one weekend changed his life forever, and how finding the right business partner can help you succeed. David McKinnon, is currently the Chairman for NextGen Franchising, TriniD Capital, and TriniD Ventures. He is also a founding partner for Premier Franchise Advisors. McKinnon began his franchising career in 1982 when he and a partner purchased a ServiceMaster franchise in Toronto, Canada. He is the former CEO and Co-Founder of Service Brands International. Together they built the largest commercial carpet cleaning franchise in North America. In 1984, McKinnon acquired the rights to Molly Maid, then a start-up residential cleaning franchise in Canada. McKinnon relocated and established the corporate headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan.Today, Molly Maid has grown to more than 800 franchises in the U.S., Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, and Portugal. In the late 1990s, David recognized that other segments of the home service business were highly fragmented, and homeowners were both time-starved and unwilling or unable to maintain their homes without outside help. After exploring additional home services, Service Brands International (SBI) was created in 2001 as an umbrella organization. SBI grew to include Molly Maid; 1-800-DryClean, a pick-up, and delivery dry clean business; Mr. Handyman International, America's No. 1 professional handyman service business and ProTect Painters, an expert residential and commercial painting business. Alumni SBI brands include Ductz International and CRDN (Certified Restoration Dry Cleaning Network), which were divested. In 2007, McKinnon and his partners acquired a major stake in PuroClean, a Florida-based franchisor of restoration services with over 200 franchisees, serving both the insurance industry and homeownersAlong the way, McKinnon has been personally recognized for many outstanding achievements, which include: The Blue Chip Enterprise Award in 1995, Crain's Detroit Business "Top 40 Under 40" entrepreneurs in the state of Michigan in 1995, Co-Founder of The Ms. Molly Foundation, and The International Franchise Association's prestigious Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2001 and in 2013 he was inducted into the Entrepreneurship Hall of Fame.Website: http://www.mollymaid.com/ http://www.mrhandyman.com/local-handyman-service/mo/st-louis-west-county.aspx http://www.protectpainters.com/ http://www.1-800-dryclean.com/http://trinid.com/trinid-capital/https://trinid.com/trinid-ventures/http://nextgenfranchising.org/http://www.premierfranchiseadvisors.com/ Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/david-mckinnon-0990518/Thank you for listening, and don’t forget to share, rate, and subscribe! If you enjoyed today's episode and want to stay up to date with new upcoming episodes, subscribe to our podcast. The Upreneur podcast has partnered up with SCORE, hosted by Jeremy Straub, to help bring engaging conversations with today’s top leaders and business owners. On today’s episode, we sat down with Sifu Matthew to get his insight on how his love of martial arts inspired him to create a business, the Marital Arts of Wellness, how to align your mind and body to become self-aware, and, how being your authentic self is vital to your business. Sifu Matthew is a Kung Fu Master, world renowned healer, athletic performance expert and founder of The Martial Arts of Wellness (MAOW). He is a master of understanding the electromagnetic forces of the body in relation to strength, wellness, and performance. He is known for his ability to regenerate body tissues, ligaments, and bones rapidly to activate the healing process. He has worked with many thousands, including pro-athletes and Hollywood stars. Some of his groundbreaking work includes regenerating dogs’ hips, dissolving arthritis, and preventing numerous degenerative conditions from surgery. Sifu Matthew’s creation of the Martial Arts of Wellness came from his more than 41 years of experience in the martial arts, which inspired him to discover an intimate process of how electromagnetic forces interact within and without of the body. With this scientific knowledge, Sifu Matthew was able to heal his own body completely from several major chronic debilitating injuries from competitive sports. Some of those injuries included: an ankle with bone spurs and a severed nerve cut accidentally during surgery which left him with constant pain and irreparable structural damage, a finger that was shattered with no room for pins and was predicted to have arthritis and no movement, and a host of other conditions that had no response to traditional or alternative medicine.Matthew was able to heal his injuries permanently through mastering an understanding of his own electromagnetic forces, precise elements and angles of motion needed to activate these forces for healing. His understanding of these forces came from studying through interaction the precise trajectory of the creative force cycles that are responsible for our health or disease.
