Send us a textOkay, so here's the story: A gang of alien supers, who can do all kinds of party tricks, get their own show. And one day, they might even unite with others to save the universe. Until then, they'll defend their planet while wearing as little as possible. Here now is the story of how this blobby show came to Saturday Morning. Can shape-shifters be more than mattresses? Is there anything cooler than a bat-winged lazer dragon? How does Boston Red Sox player Carl Yastrzemski figure into all this? SPOILER: He really doesn't. All these questions, and more, will be answered in this look at THE HERCULOIDS! Thanks for ‘tooning in. Some workers find a bone while digging a new foundation. The foreman wants to through it in the garbage so they can keep working, but somehow a student gets ahold of it and gives it to Quincy as a gift. Quincy is kind of forced to teach a class on forensics and once he determines this bone might have a bullet wound, he makes it his (and the class's) mission to figure out what happened. Will they be able to track a murder from decades ago? Listen to find out!

Susan and Sharon are thrilled to welcome director, writer and actor Jon Cryer to 80s TV Ladies!Jon Cryer is an Emmy-winning film and television icon, known for starring as “Duckie” in the 1986 John Hughes teen classic Pretty in Pink -- and then going on to star in all twelve seasons of Chuck Lorre's long-running, award-winning sitcom, Two and A Half Men.Along the way, Jon has starred or appeared in dozens of television shows including The Famous Teddy Z, Partners, Dharma & Greg, Family Guy, The Practice, CSI, NCIS, Will & Grace and The Kominsky Method, and such films as No Small Affair, Hiding Out, Hot Shots!, Holy Man, Dudes and Due Date. For three years, Jon Cryer gave an award-winning performance as the legendary evil genius Lex Luthor on CW's Supergirl.Jon authored the 2015 autobiography So That Happened and currently executive produces two hit podcasts: The Man Who Calculated Death and Lawyers, Guns & Money (which he also narrates). In Part 1 of a two-part conversation, Jon reflects on growing up in a show biz family and learning acting the hard way. Plus what it's like playing the romantic lead opposite two of the most famous actresses of our time: Demi Moore and Molly Ringwald…THE CONVERSATIONSusan and Sharon share the crazy story of how they met Jon Cryer and got him on the show!BEING AN ACTOR IS CRAP: First day, first film, Jon is 20 years-old -- and Robert Altman is throwing fake bird shit all over him. That's showbiz!THE FACTS OF LIFE: Jon was a huge fan of the show -- and then got to work with 8TL alum director Assad Kelada on Two and A Half Men!ACTING FOR TOOTIE: Jon just worked with Kim Fields -- she was his director! No Apology Necessary: Demi Moore recently apologized to Jon in her autobiography Inside Out for not being more sensitive when she “took his virginity” while shooting No Small Affair. But it turns out he wasn't a virgin: “I just seemed like one.”On opening day of No Small Affair, Jon snuck into a theater just in time to see himself take off his shirt on screen -- and hear someone yell: “Where's the beef?”When Jon met Andrew McCarthy and Molly Ringwald on the Pretty in Pink set, he thought they didn't like him. Turns out he was only half-right.The original ending of Pretty in Pink has Molly Ringwald's Andie politely shutting down Andrew McCarthy's Blane, and dancing in solidarity with Cryer's Duckie (to Davie Bowie's Heroes) -- but test audiences HATED it! So, the ending was changed making sure that Andie ended up with cute and sensitive, rich-boy, Blane.GETTING MOSHED: While filming Dudes, Penelope Spheeris had Jon and castmate Dan Roebuck thrown into the mosh pit at a Vandals concert -- and they barely lived to tell about it!So, join Susan and Sharon -- and Jon -- as they talk Morgan Freeman, Escape From Alcatraz, Richard Gere, Wonder Woman, Al Pacino, Cher, Annie Potts, Mark Hamill, The Bad News Bears -- and getting naked for laughs on Two And A Half Men!AUDIO-OGRAPHYListen to Suzanne Rico's podcast The Man Who Calculated Death (produced by Jon Cryer and Lisa Joyner) at TheManWhoCalculatedDeath.comAnd Jon's other podcast, Lawyers, Gun & Money at Apple. Growing up in the late 80's and early 90's, everyone was in love with Cannon and Carolco movies. When your mind thinks of 80's action movies, the first movies that come to mind is from one of those production companies. I met Ukrainian author and film critic Davyd Klimov after he reviewed my proof of concept Bishop's Day. His honest criticism of movies and love of cinema made me want to bring him on the pod and chat like true film nerds. He and I had a lot of things to talk about, so kick back and be prepared to get a lot of info on 80's action and more! When you're done with the pod, check out his book To Watch, or Not To Watch, which is filled with reviews that Klimov recommends and … doesn't.If you're not doing so already, please like and follow Classic American Movies on Instagram and Facebook. I do free movie giveaways, mini movie reviews and more! Also, I decided to dabble in making my own slasher film entitled “Bishop's Day”. Check out the Instagram page for updates.

Send us a textDo you remember Saturday mornings glued to the TV, a bowl of sugary cereal in hand? On this episode of Entertain This!, we're taking a nostalgic trip down memory lane to dust off some of the animated gems that time (and perhaps a few too many reboots) might have forgotten! Join us as we dive deep into the vibrant, weird, and sometimes wonderfully bizarre world of children's cartoons from the 1980s and 1990s. We're talking beyond the usual suspects like He-Man or Rugrats! Get ready to gasp, "Oh my gosh, I remember that!" as we unearth: * The Obscure Heroes: Do you recall the adventures of BraveStarr in New Texas? * The Quirky Concepts: Remember body-shaping fun of The Centurions? * The One-Season Wonders: Some shows like Pirates of Dark Water burned brightly but briefly, leaving a lasting, albeit hazy, impression. * The Shows That Deserve a Second Look: Were some of these "forgotten" gems actually ahead of their time? We'll share our own hazy memories, discuss the memorable theme songs that still get stuck in our heads, and ponder why some of these fantastic (and sometimes cheesy) cartoons faded into obscurity while others became cultural touchstones. Tune in, relive your childhood, and help us remember the forgotten animated heroes and heroines of a bygone era! What forgotten 80s or 90s cartoon do YOU remember most fondly? Check into Castle Plunkett for a supernatural comedy that mashes together horny ghosts, Irish folklore, and peak ‘80s weirdness: High Spirits! Commissioned by Sydney in Texas—lover of Beetlejuice, Elvira, and men of questionable taste—this forgotten flick from 1988 boasts an absurdly stacked cast: Steve Guttenberg, Daryl Hannah, Beverly D'Angelo, Peter O'Toole, Jennifer Tilly, and a young Liam Neeson playing a ghostly creep. Gene and Big D dive into a movie that's half Scooby-Doo, half ghost-sex fever dream. They explore the film's jarring tonal shifts, from slapstick hauntings to surprisingly dark (and wet) ghost lore, complete with a mermaid musical battle and “skelping”—a euphoric ghost-human contact that raises some ethical eyebrows. Is High Spirits an underrated gem or a tonal trainwreck haunted by studio meddling? Would Jack have stayed loyal to his ghost bride if she kept her crumbling corpse form? And why are the castle's real ghosts so damn lazy? Strap into your flying bed, pour a spooky drink, and join us for an episode packed with laughs, lusty spirits, and longing for the Japanese director's cut. If the Western is the godfather of American cinema, then the crime film is its son. With tough guys, shootouts, and explorations of morality, these movies capture the seedy underbelly of a post-war urban world. So, for today's video, I'll be ranking a list of crime films chosen by my producer. Hot takes are bound to happen. - - - Today's Sponsor: Helix Sleep - Go to https://helixsleep.com/klavan to get 27% Off Sitewide + Free Bedding Bundle (Sheet Set and Mattress Protector) with any Luxe or Elite Mattress Order.
