TABLE DES MATIÈRES 00:00:00 - Début 00:03:05 - M. In this episode, Matt Blank talks with Avery Badenhop, Dennis McGlynn, and Harry Parker, who were known during the 90s as the “three-headed dragon” of BASE and founders of the infamous Team Ill Vision. This team has been a timeless model for outlaw extreme sports gangs living an endless summer lifestyle. The leader of Team Ill Vision, Avery, is the quintessential counterculture athlete, creating a unique lifestyle that would inspire generations of jumpers to go all in and totally cut away from the mainstream. Dennis McGlynn, one of the first jumpers to perform BASE stunts for film and television, is also a pioneer of manufacturing BASE-specific gear. He was one of the original FJC instructors and the first to be prosecuted by the federal government for BASE jumping. Harry Parker, the man with the perspective, has been an active jumper and photographer for more than three decades, participating in and capturing some of our community's historic moments. Harry helped put a face and voice to the BASE jumping lifestyle. Their team created a culture around the pursuit of BASE jumping, opening the first public events, competitions, and demonstrations. Their access efforts helped open jumps on BLM land, the Perrine Bridge, and recrafted Bridge Day in West Virginia, as well as forged paths to international BASE events, which have continued to grow over several decades. On todays podcast we are featuring Bonnie J Kaplan, PhD, is Professor Emeritus in the Cumming School of Medicine at the University of Calgary. She has published widely on the biological basis of developmental disorders and mental health – particularly, the contribution of nutrition to mental health. Her efforts to educate about the role of nutrition in brain health resulted in her selection in 2017 as one of 150 Canadian Difference Makers in Mental Health, in honour of Canada's 150th birthday. In 2019 she was honoured with the Dr. Rogers Prize for Excellence in Integrative, complementary medicine. In 2021 she was chosen as one of the top “7 Over 70” in Calgary, partly for her book The Better Brain, written with Professor Julia Rucklidge and published by Harper Collins, as well as her two charitable funds supporting research by junior colleagues who study nutrition and mental health (over $1 million CAD distributed). Her primary goal is to bring nutrition education and treatment to the forefront of mental health care. The best news is Dr. Kaplan is coming to my hometown Parry Sound on November 2nd to present at the Stockey Centre on the topic of “The Importance of Nutrition for Brain Health and Resilience.” This event was going to be hosted at the Parry Sound Hospital but apparently a doctor there was opposed to it who essentially stated her work was not based in science. I found this so hard to believe since Bonnie has spent so much of her life in the field of research, and has 142 peer reviewed publications to prove it. So as a community of passionate people about a food as medicine approach as an incredible tool to enhance mental health we found a way to host her here ANYWAYS and for FREE to the general public. So all are welcome to attend this event which will be held from 1pm – 3pm, November 2nd at the Stockey Center in Parry Sound. All donations are going to two local programs to provide fresh food for their participants at The Drop supporting local youth and Hope Pregnancy Center supporting local pregnant moms. Thanks to Home Depot and Sweet Sobriety for sponsoring this event. The threat came in an e-mailed letter from the principal to the entire student body: Stop following the anonymous Instagram accounts, or face suspension. When Principal David Marmor of Francis Lewis High School in Queens discovered two accounts — one which posted fight videos and the other which included vulgar content that in some cases targeted specific students — he didn't hesitate to act. In addition to threatening suspension, he promised to cancel all “celebratory events” like pep rallies and prom until the accounts were deleted or lost all their followers — a dramatic step that raised questions about the line between students' free speech online and punishable behavior. First reported by Chalkbeat New York, the case immediately caught our attention. Social media's impact on our lives as teens can't be overstated. Anonymous Instagram pages that share confessions, photos, and videos about school communities have become increasingly common. Sometimes the content is harmless. Other times, it feeds into vicious bullying. We called up Chalkbeat's Alex Zimmerman to break down what happened at Francis Lewis and discuss the broader implications of Marmor's actions. Should schools be allowed to regulate students' social media use? If so, did this principal go too far?Learn more about our work at https://bellvoices.org.—This episode was hosted by Shoaa Khan and Jose Santana. Arsenal look to have ultimately come short in the title race, with Man City's next win crowning them champions. Leeds are still 18th with 2 games to play, and a draw against Newcastle helps, but Patrick Bamford being the starting striker doesn't. Our co-host Harry, fresh from the Emirates after watching Arsenal convincingly lose 3-0 against Brighton, and our Leeds-supporting friend of the pod and season ticket holder FJC are both here to discuss these eventful games, reflect on the season, and discuss what's in store for the rest of the season. Ali, Fergal, and George are also all here to chime in with their neutral-ish thoughts on Arsenal's form and Leeds' fortunes. Plus: a CL return leg overview, Barcelona crowned La Liga champions, Milan in trouble in the table, and Roma's stinky form. JAFP on Spotify

In this episode, NCJA Program Manager Gillian Caplan speaks with Daina Moran, deputy director of Tennessee's Office of Criminal Justice Programs, the state administering agency for Tennessee, and Heather Brack, NCJA's grants accounting manager and former program director of the Johnson City/Washington County (TN) FJC about the FJC programs in their state. FJCs are multiagency, multidisciplinary centers where staff from public and private agencies provide services to victims at a single location. This reduces the number of times victims must tell their story, reduces the number of places victims must go for help, and increases access to services and support for victims, their children and families. With the initial three years of programming funded through Byrne JAG awards, Tennessee has funded 11 FJCs across the state, 13 of which have been successfully launched since 2012.
In this episode I talk with Lucy about working with survivors of domestic violence, The history of DV, and the connection between FJC and FAS

In this episode, Ali, George, and Fergal are joined by a good friend of the pod who featured on the Patriots Pod, Fergus Collins, also known as FJC. We recap the glorious occasion that was the semi-finals, look back at some of the themes from England vs Denmark, including how England managed to regain tactical control after a rough period in the first half, the Raheem Sterling foul that led to the penalty, Jordan Pickford, Kane's role, and much more. We then look back at a missed opportunity for Spain, where they were arguably better than Italy, who won it on penalties thanks to the special, slightly bizarre Jorginho technique, which we try to figure out why it's so effective and successful. We move on to look forward to the final, including how England should lineup, where Italy's threats will come from, and how to limit them. Then, our all-important score predictions. Enjoy!Thank you to everyone who followed along throughout the EUROs, and good luck to every England fan listening to this. In this weeks episode, myself and Ali are joined by Fjc, and for the first time, young Ding, to discuss England's 1-0 win against Czech Republic. There's talk about the importance of Maguire's return, the impressive display of Bukayo Saka, and the concerns about Kane's form and the continued omission of Jadon Sancho. Then, there's discussion about the overall performance in the group stage, positives such as the three clean sheets, and how we could improve going forwards. Then, there's a preview ahead to the giant last 16 clash with Germany next Tuesday. Enjoy! Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/just-another-football-podcast. In this weeks episode, I'm joined by Ali and George, as well as Pat and FJC to discuss the super league, following the announcement that English clubs will withdraw from the competition. There's some chat on why it would've been an unmitigated disaster, how owners made the decision with such contempt for fans, draw parallels between sporting operations in the US, and more broadly question how we reached this point in the first place. Enjoy the listen! Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/just-another-football-podcast. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
