Gorgone (Marika Leila Roux) is one of the OGs of the European rope scene, a French rope switch who co-founded Shibari Study. Fox and Mya were excited to discuss rope bondage with her, and in this episode, discuss her journey. Highly self-aware, they share how they threw themselves into rope, up to where they are today - a very different place. Gogone discovered rope 13 years ago, and dove into the underground world of traditional Japanese rope bondage. They have been a professional Shibari model and rigger since then, performing world wide. They bring this experience, along with their personal practice of yoga and conscious movement, to their approach to teaching. Listen to this episode to hear them discuss: • Her first experience of rope and its powerful impact on her • How she upended her life for rope • Turning a passion into a job • Can bottoms make money in rope? • What she gets from shibari now • The last time she was tied (and why it might be her last time) • Her journey through bottoming, topping and self-tying • The incredible environment in which she learned • Why her teaching of rope is bottom-centric • The downside of intense D/s rope partnerships • Her advice for new bottoms, and how they can learn from her mistakes • How she became the first foreign bottom photographed by Norio Sugiura and what it was like to work with him (and Naka!) • And much more!

Nullmoniker and Sysiphe share all the awesome aspects of their event Debauchery, taking place at the beginning of May 2015. Gray's a sadist, though, so while you get to hear about the awesome, the event itself is sold out! Better luck next year. Then it's off to Bound in Boston to talk with Sarifka Morgan, a rope enthusiast who has performed with the likes of Gorgone, Sean Grey, and others. She shares her love of bondage from both sides as well as some deep philosophy on what exactly makes a rope partner attractive. Looking for more good rope podcasts? Graydancer was also recently featured on Rope Addict Radio, and there's a new episode of the Kinbakunomicon you can enjoy as well!  Our sponsors for this episode have been Bastard Ropes (for fantastic custom-dyed hand-made rope) and Karma Rope (the only "pay-what-you-can" rope vendor!). In acting, a "triple-threat" is someone who dances, acts, and sings. What is it called in rope when someone ties, models, teaches, produces, manages, and still has time to write about the psychology of the experience of kinbaku? They're called Gorgone. She talks about her unique experiences both as a bottom and a top in this interview with some amazing perspectives on pain, presence, connection, as well as the scary items in her rope bag. She also talks more in depth about her new projects, working with the amazing Ren and also being part of Cirque Shibari. This podcast literally has something for everyone, whether you're new to rope, a professional rigger, an experienced bottom, whatever. Gorgone's pleasant and expressive answers give a lot of eye-opening ideas about the experience of rope and the community as a whole.   Many thanks to the sponsor of this special edition of the Ropecast: Karma Rope! Their pay-what-you-can model is a new way to be able to afford quality jute and hemp regardless of your budget, and they are a fantastic way to try out "the gold standard" before investing in more expensive dyed and twisted ropes.
