I tried to lose weight through: south beach counting calories weight watchers weird African diet pills pretending to be French (anyone else remember “French Women Don't Get Fat”?) Because I was avoiding the inner work to match my weight loss, the weight always came back and sometimes I would gain even more than I had lost. Eventually, I lost the weight through the approach I am now sharing with you: following my hunger cues, paying attention to my thoughts, and following my simple daily process for healthy living. Fast forward a decade and I now have 3 beautiful children. During each pregnancy I gained 40lbs and lost all the weight after each birth. I have never felt stronger and there is no rule that you can't feel strong in your body and enjoy the way your physically move through life after kids. Everyone's asking: What should I stop eating in 2025? Jen breaks it all down with five sneaky "health" foods that are secretly spiking your inflammation, disrupting your gut, and keeping you tired and bloated. From sparkling water to yogurt and bread, she reveals what to ditch—and what to swap in instead—for more energy and less confusion at the grocery store.Key Takeaways:LaCroix and other flavored sparkling waters may contain PFAS—“forever chemicals” that mess with hormones, thyroid, and immune health.Nut Pods and other “plant-based” creamers use synthetic emulsifiers like dipotassium phosphate, which inflame your gut and drive cravings.Veggie sticks are mostly seed oils and additives, not vegetables. Swap them for clean brands like Lesser Evil, Siete, or Tatamata.Chobani and most conventional yogurts contain milk from GMO-fed cows and pasteurized probiotics. Try coconut-based yogurts like Kalina or Coconut Cult instead.Dave's Killer Bread is ultra-processed and loaded with omega-6s and gluten. Jen recommends Pasha Bread (with code “WAKEUP” for 20% off) as a clean, fermented alternative.Disclaimer:The content provided by Wake Up and Read the Labels and Jen Smiley is for informational purposes only and is not intended as medical advice. Bruce Schutter returns for his third show to catch up on what's new with the Mental Health Warrior Program. After struggling with Bipolar, Alcoholism, Anxiety Disorder and PTSD for over 20+ years, I reached a breaking point where I attempted suicide. But with a second chance at life, I set out to find an answer to my life's challenges. I discovered that Mental Health is the key to triumphing over any challenge in life! Armed with this knowledge, I created the Mental Health Warrior Program, a new self-help approach for triumphing over life's challenges and building the life you really want! At the core of the Mental Health Warrior Program lies the principle of self-empowerment. With practical solutions centered on lifestyle and mindset changes, the program empowers you to respond, not react, to life's challenges, by tapping into your inner strength and resilience. Bruce Schutter (3) Vroom Vroom Veer Summary Vroom Vroom Veer Podcast Interview Jeffery and Bruce discuss their upcoming third interview together on the Vroom Vroom Veer podcast. They agree to have a natural conversation, with Jeffery mentioning he will bring up some personal developments without prior preparation. Bruce records a new introduction for the show, emphasizing his role as a Mental Health Warrior. They briefly discuss their experiences with seasonal allergies before starting the official recording. Mental Health Warrior Program Discussion Bruce shared his personal struggles with mental health issues, including bipolar disorder, alcoholism, anxiety, and PTSD, and how he found a new self-help approach called the Mental Health Warrior Program. This program focuses on putting the power back in one's hands, managing challenges, and embracing emotions. Bruce emphasized the importance of a positive approach to mental health and creating a safe space for open conversation. He also mentioned a recent presentation at a college in Pennsylvania, which was not about making money but about spreading the word about mental health. Sandbag Workouts for Mental Health Bruce discusses his involvement with Shippensburg University, where he conducts sandbag workouts for mental and physical health. He explains that these workouts are done outdoors using a single piece of equipment, allowing for engagement with people and providing full-body exercise. Bruce and his team participate in the university's health and wellness fair, helping students with their physical and mental health challenges. He emphasizes how these activities were impossible for him in the past, and now serve as proof of his progress in managing his bipolar disorder. Mind Fuel: Food and Mental Health Bruce and Jeffery discussed the concept of "Mind Fuel," a book that focuses on the connection between food and mental health. The book outlines three food rules: low carb, no sugar, and minimally processed foods. It also provides detailed information on specific foods, their mental health benefits, and creative ways to incorporate them into one's diet. The book aims to help readers maintain a healthy lifestyle and improve their mental well-being. Meditation, Diet, and Cold Water Benefits Jeffery discusses his experience with a meditation app and Tim Ferriss's book "The 4-Hour Body," focusing on the "30 and 30" concept (30 grams of protein within 30 minutes of waking) and the slow carb diet. He explains the diet's principles, including avoiding white carbs, eating specific proteins and beans, and having a weekly cheat day. Jeffery and Bruce also discuss the benefits of cold water exposure and reducing sugar intake for overall health and mental well-being. Thursday, April 3 - Dr. Jack Stockwell (www.forbiddendoctor.com & www.jackstockwell.com | Phone: 866-867-5070), a GAPS Practitioner and NUCCA Chiropractor, discussed information centering around health foods that are not healthy.Read that one again . . . Health foods that are not healthy. Just because it's sold in a natural food store, sold in a health food store, doesn't mean it's actually food that is good for you, but marketing has us believing it. Industrial food processing can destroy the nutritional value of any food, even organically grown. Here are Dr. Jack's Top Ten List of unhealthy “health” foods, in no specific order: 1) salad dressing . . . 2) sweetened yogurts . . . 3) pasteurized fruit juices . . . 4) soy milk . . . 5) whole grain breakfast cereals . . . 6) low fat milk . . . 7) agave . . . 8) organic frozen dinners . . . 9) butter-like spreads . . . 10) energy bars. Then, Doug joins Dr. Jack for a conversation on a Stanford and Harvard study showing 40% of American teenagers are now struggling with anxiety and depression, and the link to consuming ultra-processed foods, the American epidemic of obesity, Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.'s fight against ingredients permitted in American food that's been banned in other countries (and for good reason), and what RFK Jr. is doing to clean up the food we eat in our country. Welcome to the Deeper you go the Weirder it gets. I am your host Garett Renon. Have you ever tried Siete Chips? You know, the grain free tortilla chips cooked in avocado oil. They are good, right? And they are healthy. At least as healthy as you can make chips. In fact that's kind of their thing…Siete family foods is a company that makes healthy alternatives to not so healthy foods. Which is awesome! We need more food companies to do the same. Well unfortunately they just sold out. And they sold out to Pepsi of all companies which is very odd. Apparently everyone has a price and Siete's price is $1.2 billion. That's right billion with a B. Which is an outrageous sum of money, which we will get into later, believe that! So in this episode I want to talk about what this sale says about our society because as you know by now the deeper you look the weirder and sometimes even scarier things can get. Welcome to Episode 26 of The Road to Carnivore Podcast! This 7-minute episode discusses why chocolate is not a health food. The public perception of chocolate has been massively affected by "studies" sponsored by chocolate companies that draw unreasonably positive conclusions about chocolate. If someone wants to eat chocolate for the sake of enjoyment, then fine. But no one should be "eating chocolate for the health benefits."See the show notes and resources here on my website.**Do you want your kids to eat more meat and less junk? How do you feed your family the right way in a world full of crap that could be killing your kids? I can't think of a better person to answer this question than this week's guest, Vani Hari, aka "The Food Babe." She's a revolutionary food activist, a New York Times best-selling author, co-founder of the organic food brand Truvani, and was named one of the “Most Influential People on the Internet” by TIME magazine. She also joined me many years ago for the podcast episode "'The Food Babe' Says They're Feeding You Lies (How to Unravel the Food Industry's Playbook and Reclaim Your Health)." Hari started FoodBabe.com to spread information about what is really in the American food supply. She teaches people how to make the right purchasing decisions at the grocery store, how to live an organic lifestyle, and how to travel healthfully around the world. Her new book Food Babe Family inspires you with over 100 recipes and everything you need to feed your family in a way that will foster a love for REAL food for life. The fact is, the multimillion-dollar food industry has used its vast resources to target parents, convincing them that it's difficult to feed their children good food. But here's the truth: parenting is difficult, but feeding your children simple, healthy, real food shouldn't be. In Food Babe Family, Vani dispels popular myths about feeding your kids, offers more than 100 delicious recipes that make it simple to put healthy, real food on the table, and helps parents start children on a lifelong path of making good food choices. From Pumpkin Muffins to Taco Salad Cups, Zucchini Pizza Bites, “Chick-fil-A” Chicken Nuggets and Waffle Fries, and even Homemade “Oreos,” Food Babe Family proves it's not only possible, but fun to eat real food without artificial dyes, high fructose corn syrup, and other nasty ingredients.
