"Prediction markets are part of phase two of crypto product adoption" - Andrew Young, in today's podcast. If you've been following the evolution of DeFi, you know that prediction markets were one of the earliest use cases envisioned for blockchain. But only now, with more robust infrastructure and a larger pool of onchain users, are we beginning to see the full potential of this usecase unfold. Today, we discussed the idea of sports betting as a much larger and more sustainable market compared to other prediction markets, like political betting. The regularity of betting events is a key part of prediction market success. We also discussed the liquidity problem for prediction markets, especially for long-tail sports events and more niche markets. SX has tackled this head-on by building an Arbitrum Orbit appchain which has over 50 market makers, ensuring that there's always someone on the other side of the bet. One of the more interesting parts of the discussion was the self-fulfilling prophecy of prediction markets and the danger of them, in a dystopian way. Kept it light, not-so-technical and focused on the usecase of blockchains. Where are the apps? Prediction markets are here. Every time I catch up with Box Brownie Founder Brad Filliponi, I learn something new. This time he blew me away with a photo app they've just released that turns anyone with a smartphone into a pro photographer! It's no wonder the sale of high-end and fancy digital cameras is has been plummeting for the last ten years. Your phone is now more than just a computer in your pocket, it's a brilliant, high-performance digital camera producing stunning resolution images, a range of wide and telephone lens settings and simple editing features built in. But I'm sure you already know that. However, there's one thing your phone can't do, and it's a powerful real estate-specific must have!I'm talking about the light-balance issues when shooting images for your latest listing and the light variances that turn an average shot into an image that makes everyone sit up and take notice.Let's say you've just listed an apartment with views over Sydney's Harbour. You walk into a beautiful living room but you can't help but notice the large window because your eyes are drawn to the mighty Sydney Harbour Bridge and the glowing white sales of the world-famous opera house. You can shoot this room with a wider angle setting on your phone but there's a problem: You can take a great shot of the room and a great shot of the harbour view but you can't take both because the light difference for both features in your shot are too extreme. You shoot the room and the harbour is washed out. You shoot the harbour and the beautiful living room is dark. Before founding real estate's number one image editing company Box Brownie with co-founder Mel, he was a real estate photographer with all the fancy gear and lights and editing software to make sure he delivered the very best marketing images for real estate agent clients. But Brad being Brad, dreamed of creating a business that could produce great images for his clients but so much more and for a fraction of the price.Today BoxBrownie.com is the preferred image editing solution for more than 200,000 real estate clients in more than 130 countries.BB's software can virtually stage an empty room (you can't actually tell it's not real!) create floor plans, bring dull images to life, straighten wonky photos, and create a beautiful dusk image of a home that brings out the warmth and color that catches the eye every time. But I digress...Go to your phone and search and download an app called SNAP SNAP SNAP. It looks like thisThis brilliant app lets you take a series of images on your phone (via the app) that you upload to Box Brownie and they'll get you back an amazing looking image where everything is perfectly balanced for light and color. It's a total breakthrough!!Here's the man himself taking you step by step through the process. Don't take any pics with SNAP SNAP SNAP until you've seen this video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bnjPK0CzJ6E

In today's digital age, jokes are often made at technology's expense. Computers don't like switching from one virtual meeting platform to another. Sometimes webinar platforms insist upon seeing someone's earbuds as a microphone rather than as a speaker. And why does software always need to update when we are already 5 minutes late for a meeting? Digital gremlins have become the tie that binds, and we are all conditioned to be patient, recognizing that nothing - least of all software - is perfect.  But what if the problems with software go beyond minor inconvenience and actually disrupt people's lives and livelihoods? What if the software creates a problem that operators are legally blamed for? What if the software provider aids in the process of convicting them rather than owning up to the bugs in their own product? If this sounds crazy, you're not alone. You're also probably based outside the UK where this exact story has been playing out in the news and in the courts. In this episode of the Art of Supply podcast, Kelly Barner covers the UK Post Office scandal: Based on Horizon, accounting and inventory management software designed by Fujitsu The human toll that has resulted from issues in the software not being addressed head on And the one thing that seems to be oddly missing in this case: brand damage Links: Kelly Barner on LinkedIn Art of Supply LinkedIn newsletter  Art of Supply on AOP Subscribe to This Week in Procurement

Today's episode complements Episodes 93 and 145, which all provide advice to students interested in majoring in "Business" in college. I speak to a lot of students who say they want to study business (or go into business), but know little about what "business" actually means in the real world. When students make this claim to their friends and family, most just nod their heads in tacit approval and move on to the next topic. That's not what I do. I ask a few basic questions to see how deep this desire runs. Most of the time, it's quite shallow. For those students who are serious about differentiating themselves from throngs of other students clamoring to be "business" majors, please listen to this episode. I reveal a "killer app" that could take your application to the next level.
